A little over a year ago I was wowed by their pizza. I posted about it on Facebook, on Instagram, and here. But, almost overnight, the pizza went to UNACCEPTABLE. I kept going back hoping that the bad slices I had were an exception. Maybe they needed a new oven. I spoke to Dante, the owner, and showed him my VERY underdone slice with scant sauce. He knew immediately what the problem was and said he would deal with it. For months I dropped in once in a while, took a look at the pizza in the "we'll serve this next" case, saw that it would not be good, and left. I deleted my Facebook post about NYPie, as well as my Instagram post. I will try this place again, as I have not been there for six months. If need be I'll edit this review. Clearly, if they can't make a consistently good pie (and my first couple were close to perfect), then they will have lost a customer. read more

I just moved to the area and have been exploring the restaurants around here and I have no idea how you have managed to stay in business with the level of quality I have seen in your dishes. During the covid pandemic I decided to support local businesses. O boy such a mistake it was! I have never ever have eaten such a bad pizza. I think it is really hard to make a bad pepperoni pizza but apparently it is possible! It was extremely oily, salty and saggy. The fries were stale and sticking to each other. The young girl behind the counter is very short and agitated, but one man in the restaurant putting together the orders for delivery is very pleasant. It's 7:22 on a Saturday night an I just left NY Pie after the most UNCOMFORTABLE customer experience I have EVER had. All because of the owners daughter. But the way the owner and his team handled it, added on to the delicious food completely warrants a 5 star review. I would give more if I could. I was waiting for my food and something set the daughter off- from what I saw it didn't seem like it was anything important. She started swearing and yelling at her father (the owner), she was acting completely unprofessional and disrespectful with a store full of customers. She was encouraging the other counter girl to leave (and by encouraging I mean forcing). The other girl looked frazzled, was just trying to do her job and help the delivery driver get situated. It was awful, I was shocked at how this girl was speaking to not just her father but her boss. All of the customers were just keeping their heads down and trying to not react. The owner and his other employees never stopped working, they didn't engage with the angry girl- everyone just continued doing their job. The owner basically ignored her but did quietly try to diffuse her a few times in both English and Italian. He didn't stop cooking, he tried to not contribute to the shit show and disengage as best he could. It was impressive given the nasty things she was saying and that there were customers present. My family orders from NY Pie frequently, the food is always fresh and delicious. We had never had an issue with an order and recommend a lot of our neighbors. The owner and his wife have always been incredibly friendly. We really enjoy supporting our local, family run pizza place. It made me sad to see how disrespectful someone can be towards someone who is clearly working their ass off for their family. How can you take no pride in the business you work at and a business that represents your family?! It blows my mind. Never dined in, but ordered delivery a few (5-ish) times. Delivery time: The estimated delivery time (over the phone or online) has always been 45-60 minutes, but I've always gotten it around 25-45 minutes to housing near or on Brandeis. The delivery personnel are always friendly and patient, and also very good with directions. They also take credit/debit card both online (obvi) and over the phone which is convenient. Food: I've only gotten the pizzas here. X-Large (18") pizzas are huge! They are around $20 and well worth the price: always delicious and filling. There is a large selection of "gourmet pizzas" and the toppings are always plentiful. For the X-Large pizza, it is possible to go half-and-half, so often I will choose something for the meat-lovers as well as vegetarians or veggie-lovers; for example, you can choose half honey-barbecue chicken pizza and half gourmet veggie pizza for no extra cost. read more

Located in the quieter segment of an otherwise fairly busy Moody Street is NY Pie. The small restaurant offers up some pizzas, subs and various other items in a casual setting and is located directly across the local skate park. It has a private lot with a few spots and they strive to make fresh food with good ingredients. Fast forward nearly a half a dozen visits and it's been a good experience overall. I've only done pickup since I live within a stone's throw away, and while the pizza isn't the best in Waltham, it's decent and their subs are top notch. The bread they use is incredible. It's crunchy and soft and works very well with just about any type of sub I've had there, from buffalo chicken subs to eggplant parm. It's large enough to be filling and the ingredients they use are great. It also feels a bit less greasy than Carl's which is less than a mile away but is more expensive with subs averaging $8-9 which is a bit steep and at least a dollar more than most places. Not a huge deal but definitely something to keep in mind. That aside, the place does have some seating although it's fairly limited. No tables either, just a counter with a few stools. Service is very friendly and there's in the midst of considering having gluten-free dough for pizzas in the near future, something that I hope they do. read more

I'm really sad to write this review. We have been ordering from NY Pie for 3 years but the last 2 times have been awful. Something changed with their crust and it is not what we had been enjoying. Instead of having a puffy crust (pizza bones!), it is now thin. In addition, we had to use forks for the last 2 orders since the center crust was not cooked and crisp and no way to pick it up without toppings sliding off the "crust". And ordering desserts have always been hit or miss. We usually ordered chocolate cake but would get phone calls they were out for the day and ended up getting Oreo pie instead. Eventually, they stopped calling and just sent what they had on hand. If you're going to put it on your menu, you should plan accordingly. We sent emails through the website but never heard back from management. We're now on a quest to find a new pizza place. read more

Stopped into this establishment on lunch break on my quest for the best pizza. This is probably one of the best pizza's I had in 20 years. The person that put mine together today is a true crafts man or woman. Everything was top knotch. That touch of flavor in the crust, the soft crunch, the style and the sauce and toppings was laid out, the texture and taste of the marinade on that toppings.... magnificent. The only part of this meal that I was unsatisfied with is eating the last bite. I wanted more. They looked a little sketched out when I walked through the door. Could be a bit friendlier but honestly that small stuff does not bother me I'm there for the pie. I give this a 4 so far. Deserves 5 stars .... Ate here for the past 6 years. Never went anywhere else for a quick bite. The pizza I get is chicken bacon ranch which is my go to. And I sometimes get the Donnie burger too. But also they have bomb chicken Alfredo pasta. If you like other things they probably have it too. I like to order a lot of different foods. But I still haven't tried everything yet. NY pie is my favrorite pizza places in Massachusetts! Not just because of their quality pizzas, specifically their mexican taco pizza, but their unbelievable love and kindness to the community. I work as the Case Manager at The Community day center of Waltham which is a drop-in day center for the homeless and am also currently managing the emergency warming shelter for the homeless set up by Mayor Jeannette McCarthy allowing the homeless to sleep there day and night and not freeze during the cold weather. Owner; Dante, is the most giving charitable person we have ever had. He not only donates pizzas weekly to the homeless but saved us during this recent blizzard by making pizzas for all of our homeless residents at the Bright school emergency station. He is a wonderful kind man who consistantly assists those in need. I am so grateful to this business. read more

I have ordered here many, many times over the 15 years I've lived near this place. My favorite has always been the meatball sub. Last night, I ordered that and when I opened it up to eat it, it smelled horrible, like the meat was bad. I had to throw it out. The next day, I let them know. I figured maybe they'd be slightly concerned. Grubub spoke to the manager who just said, no refund (it was under $10) and we made if fresh last night. Well, that doesn't change the fact the meat smelled horrible and something was definitely wrong. I purposely tried to let them know before just going to write a review. I order my first pizza from NY Pie a few days ago. The pizza was the best I had in Waltham so far (been to about 4 different places). It arrived hot and the cheese was terrific. The crust was traditional NYC, but not quite as good. I also ordered a slice of carrot cake. The piece was pretty small for the $5 it cost. I was disappointed by this. IMO the delivery driver was pretty sketchy. He was acting strangely, but no altercations. If they can correct these things, I'd give them a higher rating. The pizza was really good. read more

On more than one occasion my food has been sent out for delivery when I was inside the store waiting to pick it up and they had to turn the driver around.
