Absolute gem. Can't lie, this is the type of place I like to gate keep! if you know you know! But no really, this place is all around A-1. One of the closest things in the area that reminds me of my summer visits to NY, waking up early to grab that bacon, egg and cheese on a roll or cream cheese on an everything bagel before tackling the day. Real homestyle type place but It's not a corner store like NY so don't expect to leave outta there with snacks (unless you like bagel chips). The location is perfect because I usually get my wife a coffee from the Dunkin' Donuts next-door right after grabbing a bagel sandwich. Clutch. The staff there are cool people. They're like the cast of a classic sitcom. Overall solid customer service. The place is always tidy and they'll either be in there playing the jams or something good on TV. My go to order is a Turkey Bacon, Egg, and Cheddar Cheese on a Cinnamon Raisin Bagel! Fire if your into to a slight sweet savory vibe. Sometimes i switch it up and go French Toast bagel. Either way, is a movie each time. Hours are 6am-2pm I believe so I try to get there early enough to catch the fresh options of bagels. Bangin'! All in all, don't walk...RUN here! Really tasty and authentic NY Bagel place. It's small inside, not really meant to hang out. I counted 4 2-seater tables with chairs. It's kind of a grab and go style place. The plump Caucasian lady with the died hair working the cash register and answering the phone needs to be assigned a different job. I called in after placing my order on line and was out on hold for 8 minutes. Called back on the way to the restaurant arrived, still on hold no one in line, I was told the line was out the door, she exaggerated! Seems she just can't multi task. The bagels were huge, flavorful, fluffy and soft. The prices are fair and portions were fine. We visited on a Sunday morning and ordered a breakfast sausage, egg, and cheese bagel, a breakfast platter (2 eggs, bacon, hashbrowns), and six bagels. It took 30 minutes to receive our order!!!! 30 minutes for what seemed like it could have been a drive through order at Dunkin next door! To be fair - They DID tell us at check out that it would be around that wait time, but my head cannot understand why it takes that long, even with a line ... we could have sat down at a proper breakfast place and had a better hot meal for around the same price. (Their breakfast sandwich's sausage portion was kind of sad) There is seating available but keep in mind most people are sitting waiting or standing around the lobby instead of actually eating their food inside. Cute lil spot to grab a bite. I've been craving a good bagel for the past week, and finally had the time to go get one. I got there about 30-40 minutes before closing, and placed my order 10 minutes after that. Their menu all sounded really good, but I went for what I had been wanting for a while, which is lox. I got in on a plain bagel seeing as they were close to closing and there wasn't a ton of options. I also just wanted to see how good their basic was. I got it toasted with their lox cream cheese spread, and it took about 5 minutes maybe? Very quick, which I appreciated. I was also the only one in the cafe, so I suppose it would be quick considering the circumstances. I immediately got to work in the car, since I had places to be and they had already put all the chairs up, and it was a lot! It was a good size bagel, and lots of cream cheese, which I LOVE!! However, this was very dense and rich and a bit one note, like it needed something fresh to go with like cucumber slices or lettuce to break through it a bit. I ate half and was pretty full, and later added cucumber to the other half, which did help. The bagel itself was warm and crisped up a little, good bouncy bread. The staff were also friendly and chill while ordering, and I definitely plan to be back. I highly recommend if you're craving a bagel, price is right and food is nice! read more

I grew up in Montreal, so I grew up with a different kind of bagel, the best kind. I can't find Montreal bagels around these parts, so the bagels at NY Bagel Cafe seems like the next best thing! Taking into consideration the type of bagels I find in America (huge, dense and tiny hole), these were pretty good. I heard the family is from upstate, so that is already a good start, considering New Yorkers are known for their bagels. For my first visit, I ordered a breakfast bagel with egg, bacon, mozzarella on an everything bagel, toasted. Wow, this bad boy was pretty generous in size and I was stuffed by the end. I should have saved half and saved the other half for later. BUT, there it wasn't. It was gone. Again, for an American bagel, the exterior of the bagel had a nice outer crust, crispy with a nice, even distribution of the everything seasoning. Asking them to toast the bagel for the sandwich was definitely a nice move. The interior of the bagel is dense and chewy. If you squeeze the bagel, it had a nice bounce to it. The egg was cooked perfectly, over hard (but just cooked enough without it being rubbery), bacon crispy and the mozz had just melted enough. I also ordered a baker's dozen to take home, a mix of jalapeno cheddar, everything, sesame, blueberry and French Toast. I really appreciated the fact that they wrapped the French Toast in parchment paper before adding it to the baker's dozen. They definitely get bonus points for that. It is dusted with some powdered sugar, so it's a nice gesture to be like "before you ask, we thought of it already, here's your sweet bagel not touching your savory ones". It will take me awhile to get through the baker's dozen, even with help. The bagels are so large, I can only get through one half at a time. So, before they grow moldy, I already halved them some of them and froze them. Hope they freeze well! Stay tuned... Things to note: - during my visit, it was pretty busy. I think they have online ordering so try that if you're in a hurry. - limited seating. I saw 3 tables of which all were occupied. It's a pretty compact space for their kitchen and seating, so the tables seemed out of place with the long line forming. - they have a pretty good variety of flavors, but they make limited amounts of each, so if it's sold out, try again tomorrow. I think we have an addiction to this place. We come at least once a week. Everytime it's just as good. I have tried a lot of different options. My favorite bagel so far is the jalapeno cheddar followed by the everything bagel which can be regular or the egg-based one. We also tried the sweet side of the French toast and the cinnamon raisin. I like the cinnamon raisin a little better. They're bacon is delicious and so is the sausage. I recently tried the turkey bacon which was a close third. My favorite of the cream cheese toppings is the jalapeno one. The chive needed more chives. I'd also like to try the veggie one. My usual is one of two, jalapeno cheddar bagel with egg, American cheese, and bacon or everything bagel with bacon or sausage, spinach, feta, and egg. The bagel sandwiches come with a free cup of coffee as a bonus. The condiments for the coffee are a little limited but you can always take it home and add your own. The shop is pretty small so we take it to go. You can also get any omelette as a sandwich or wrap. I'd like to try some of their lunch options but their breakfast is so darn good! read more

OK this place is a legit NY bagel place. Loved it. On a Saturday around 10:00am the place was packed. The line was out the door. Come in and there are a few tables. Most of them were taken by people waiting for their orders. You order and pay at the counter then wait. We got bagels with cream cheese not toasted (because no self respected native NYer would do that). Our order came out quick because most people may have been waiting for breakfast sandwiches. This is the closest mom and pop shop near me for bagels. At first they were delicious but then the portions changed. And the staff changed, I never see the same face. So I give them a try every so often to see if it will get better but after this visit it is a no going forward. I ordered several items but my breakfast sandwich ( bacon,egg,and cheese) ...1 piece of bacon for each side of my cut bagel. I asked for extra toasted. It is not toasted at all. Well. It has been a year or 2 since I have been here. And I'm probably not going to come back. Maybe things have changed since I have been there, but if someone is standing at the counter, it is usually a polite thing to acknowledge thir presence. Not just go about your business pretending you didnt see them. OR have a sign that says "please go around to cash register for assistance." There are 2 shelves for delivery drivers and the sign above the cash register say "Order Here". That's it. AND even if you dont help anyone at your display case/counter, you can certainly say "please come to register and we can assist you" or at least say hello. Not everyone is there to order or they may have had a simple question. It was rude and would have been easily fixed but yet 5 workers and NO acknowledgment. No smile or nod or anything. And the food? Not impressed today. The bagel was good. That hasn't changed, but the home fries were super salty that i could only eat them if i put them with the omelet which was not seasoned at all IMO. And to clarify, I ordered online because i was on my way to work. I looked on their delivery driver shelf and it wasn't there which is why I wa standing at the display case waiting to ask my question. Went on a Tuesday around 11:15 am. There weren't really any customers in the restaurant when I first arrived but while waiting to finally order, a group of people began coming in. I didn't like that I was the first of everyone in line to order but the last to receive my food. I ordered a bacon egg and cheese burger on a jalapeño cheddar bagel with Asiago cheese, lettuce, and home fries on the side. The burger looked like it would be tasty but it was just alright. It was really dry so I was happy I asked for ketchup on the side because it definitely needed it. The home fries weren't good and kind of burnt. Best bagel sandwich I've had in the 757. Came for a late breakfast and I was the only person there. My experience was immediately brought down from 5 stars to 4 stars due to the unfriendly staff. They looked at me when I walked in, said nothing and went back to whatever they were doing. The active ignoring style of customer service isn't my favorite. When I was ready to order, I said "excuse me" to get one of the employee's attention and they seemed annoyed. Not sure what the preference is to get service, but I obviously missed the memo. Other than unwelcoming service, the food was great. I got a breakfast sandwich on an asiago bagel. I chose taylor ham/pork roll and it was delicious! I also got a side of scallion cream cheese to go with it, which was also perfect! Total for the breakfast sandwich and cream cheese was almost $12, which seems super high, however, I would order it again. OMGosh this place is amazing. We were staying overnight on our way thru Virginia and stumbled on this place (thankfully, because our hotel had a snafu with the complimentary breakfast and we had to get on the road). We got everything egg bagels with egg and bacon. Delicious! Bagel was fluffy and super tasty. Bacon and eggs cooked perfectly. Excuse the absence of my Chicken Cheesesteak on a toasted sesame bagel, but trust me when I tell you it was juicy, flavorful, and delicious! Check the menu thoroughly before ordering, NY Bagel Cafe offers at least 6 cheese choices, none of which were offered to us, so based on what I got, I assume Cheddar is their default. I mean Cheddar is better but you may prefer Pepper Jack. I also recommend adding extra meat or egg, or opting for the Hungry Man, a bigger meatier breakie sando. I liked the bagels here, the everything bagel was lacking in flavor tho, and the service was meh. Would I return? Maybe not. Probably not unless I was already in the area.
