Great service, as soon as I walked in I was greeted by everyone, and placed my order for a toasted plain bagel with extra cream cheese quickly. The menu was big, and I got anxious being the only person and ordered what I knew. It makes for a good base of how good everything else would be though. My food came out soon after, and I left to go enjoy my food at home (15 minutes). It felt warm when I got it, but by the time I sat down to eat it was cold. It wasn't like it had been too long from when I got it to then, so I don't know what happened. The bagel itself is dense and chewy, kinda like what I had suspected from the photos. It's like Panera you could say, which was a little sad for me. I like my bagels more airy and not as chewy. The flavor of the bagel was nice, I just was hoping for something amazing I guess. Stopped by earlier this morning after the rush & picked up a BB on Broadway (bacon, egg, cheese, and hash brown) as well as a blueberry yogurt muffin. A mad search for New York Style Bagel Bakeries before my son & grandson arrived led me back to this location where my family came in the late '80s. When I walked in it looked completely different. That's because it was. I'm not sure what happened to the old store since it had been decades since I had frequented the bagel shop. This bakery was exactly what I was looking for. They boil then bake their bagels preservative free. It brought back memories of a Bagel Bakery in Atlanta I frequented in the early '70s that actually had the boiling vat in view. The Bakery was decorated really awesome on the outside & inside with sidewalk seating available in addition to the dining area. A separate door was provided for takeout or online orders. I joined the rope line to place my order so I could peruse the menu on the wall. The line featured a long picturesque scene of New York. The inside dining area walls were also New York cityscape scenes. How awesome!! The restaurant was clean & very popular. Takeout orders were placed in bags awaiting pickup. There were many. Breakfast sandwich choices looked spectacular & were all New York themed. But my quest was for the type of single bagels that my family eat for breakfast. My purchase was Sesame Seed & Cinnamon Raisin. I wanted to peruse the cream cheese choices. But there was a line behind me & I was operating on short time. Reading the background of the owners I learned they were a couple from New Jersey who founded the bakery in 2012. They have a food truck & also have plans to open a delicatessen in the space previously occupied by 58 Deli Diner. My son & grandson said their Sesame & Cinnamon Raisin Bagels were good. And my son perused their Breakfast & Brunch Bagel Sandwich Menu. The location is in the shopping center on the southeast side of the intersection of Mill Dam Road with N Great Neck Road. Coming from Shore Drive driving south there's easy entrance by a left turn on Mill Dam & and immediate right into the shopping center. I will definitely return, maybe even breaking my diet & choosing a Breakfast Bagel Sandwich. read more

I just witnessed the owner of this establishment behave so rudely to a young girl picking up her to-go order. He literally saw who was picking up the order, then unpacked her food from the bag, took the napkins out of the bag, and told her she didn't need a bag and that she can get napkins down at the other end of the restaurant if needed. Ever since moving to Hampton Roads from Brooklyn, NY, I've been on a search to find a New York style bagel. The Bagel Baker is by far the closest thing I've found to the bagels back home and I stop by there whenever I really want a NY bagel. My go to is the Long Island Lox on an everything bagel. That comes with a good portion of lox, cream cheese, tomato, capers, and onions. It's always delicious every time I have it. The bagel itself is for sure the best one I've found in the area and the most similar to the bagels in NY. The service here is also great. It's always fast, even when the line is longer. Came here after an appointment in the morning and found this shop to stop at for breakfast. I love a good bagel sandwich, so I was looking forward to giving it a try. Upon walking up to the register, I asked what I should get between two sandwiches and the employee taking my order told me which one customers order the most. I will say I did not feel the most welcome here, but that just may be me. The employee did not seem interested in answering my questions and did not have the best mood. But people have their days, so I brushed it off. I did not see any coffee options on the main menu listed on the wall but remembered seeing pictures of an iced coffee drink when I searched the restaurant. I asked if they had any coffee drinks, and I was told they have iced coffee and hot coffee. I asked to order an iced coffee, and the woman taking my order grabbed a pre-made iced coffee from the fridge. They had an inventory of ready to go cups of iced coffee with some type of cream or milk which I found interesting. I ordered the BB on Broadway sandwich on an everything bagel which came with hardwood smoked bacon, egg, American cheese and a hash brown. I also got a garlic bagel with garden veggie cream cheese. After ordering, I sat in the seated area as I waited for my food which was charming, bright and clean. The iced coffee was delicious, I liked the boldness of the coffee, and it was not too sweet. I also like the ice in it as well, which aided for a nice sip. The BB on Broadway was standard, it didn't blow me away, but it was a decent bagel sandwich. Oh, man - I was really excited to try out this New York-style bagelry, situated in VB. The bagels are apparently made the 'traditional' way, where they use preservative-free dough to kettle boil and then stone bake. They have Plain, Everything, Whole Wheat, Whole Wheat Everything, Onion, Garlic, Sesame, Poppy, Salt, Blueberry, and Cinnamon Raisin. They create their 'gourmet cream cheese' with Philadelphia cream cheese, but also have other spreads, such as butter, lox spread, PB & J, hummus, and butter & jelly. Breakfast and lunch bagel sandwiches are also part of the menu, in addition to salads and soups. We came here in the late afternoon, and we decided to try out: +an Everything Egg bagel with the Garden Veggie spread - I was excited that they had an egg version of this, as this wasn't posted on their site; however, I didn't request this to be toasted, but it came out as the SOHO - overly done, super hard, and difficult to chew +the SOHO - turkey bacon, egg whites, sliced avocado, and provolone cheese, on an Everything; this was requested to be toasted, and, unfortunately, the bagel was super hard and difficult to chew; also, the way that they didn't drain the turkey bacon, the brown juices were splattered and oozing everything in the wrapper; it just didn't look appetizing, and after taking a bite of it, the sentiment held true This place seems to be popular with the locals, as there were many who got their orders to go and were dining in. I saw one patron getting only an iced coffee, and I was thinking that I should have ordered one, too, as it looked refreshing. Oh, well. Bagel sandwiches are my jam. Always have been always will. Every time I'm in a new place, I try to find the best one in town and totally thought that this would be it, based on the excellent reviews. Drove the 30 minutes to secure the bagel sandwich and was greeted with wonderful customer service. Both ladies working the front were friendly and welcoming. One suggested the sandwich with steak, which sounded delicious, so I tried it out. It smelled amazing and came out hot. Sadly, the flavor was just off. The egg most definitely seemed to be microwaved and just left a very weird, unappealing flavor and wet texture. The actual bagel was great. Since the reviews are so consistently good and the customer service was great, I will be back to give a second chance, but my first experience definitely wasn't the bagel sandwich lover's dream. read more

I used to love this place in high school and would get a bagel here nearly every day. Now visiting from college, it's not the same. I've overlooked the rude employee that never has any emotion but last time I went, there was a hair in my bagel and I didn't get a single apology from her. She silently took my bagel and never said a word while typing on the computer. She didn't instruct me to tap my card again to get a refund and acted like I was stupid when I didn't know what to do. I didn't make a fuss and was very respectful but was not met with the same respect. When looking back on my bank app it looks like she just charged me for another bagel and didn't give me a refund. Another one checked off the list! My fiancee and I ran the Shamrock 8k last Saturday and decided to come here since his parents came to support us at the finish and brought their dog. We arrived before the rest of the finishers (bc we watched all the green shirts flood in as we ate) and selected a few tables outside. We placed our orders for a few bagel sandwiches for breakfast and ordered a hot coffee and an iced coffee with their sweet cream. LOVED the iced coffee - so good I went back and bought another bc my fiancee drank half of mine and abandoned his hot coffee, lol. My whole wheat bagel was good - I went with a classic bacon, egg and cheese. My fiancee did like a reuben on a bagel but didn't love it. My mother-in-law chose the chicken salad bagel which was very good also. Oooo Weee! Did y'all put a hash brown on a bagel?? I loved it. On the hunt for the best bagel breakfast sando in Coastal VA, The Bagel Baker is our second stop. These bagels are delicious. I usually opt for an everything bagel always but I settled for a Whole Wheat bagel and I'm not mad about it. The bagel was soft enough that when toasted, the fluffy bread insides were still intact. Eggs fried and seasoned to perfection, bacon crispy and just salty enough. Cheese, American, and melty but I would have preferred cheddar. (Cheddar is always better) The flow of ordering and pick up was efficient. Keep your receipt, your order number is on it and will be called when your items are ready. Coffee and food is delivered to pick up window, sometimes separately, so listen for your order number. On a busy morning we didn't spend more than 30 mins between arrival, waiting in line and picking up our order. Way to go team!! Last, but definitely not least, The Cold Brew, quite possibly the best I've tried in VA to date. Smooth, rich and paired well with the almond milk. Heck yes! I'll be back. read more

I absolutely loved this place. Plenty of parking because it is in a strip mall. We went on a Sunday late morning so I think we avoided the busy time. You walk up to the counter and order. The guy that took our order was awesome!! I wish I got his name. We were standing back and looking at the menu and since it was our 1st time it took us a little while to figure out what we wanted. We told him it was our 1st time and he was so nice about it. My husband ordered the Tribeca and I went with a basic sesame bagel and cream cheese. We paid and found a table. There are several booths and tables and it was pretty full. I loved the vibe. I felt like I could just relax and read the paper while I ate my bagel. My husband and I both loved our food. They did not skimp on the cream cheese. They have a self serve water station and they also had 2 kiosks to order if you wanted to do it that way. I loved all the NY decorations. My husband I both said that we are coming back. Happy New Year! I am not a huge bagel fan, but I do like one at least once every few weeks. This is one of my favorite places to go here in VA Beach. As a routine New York City goer, I have eaten at some of the classic bagel joints. This place is just as good as up North. I have two sandwiches that I always order. One is the lox with cream cheese, and the other is a BLT. Both bagels are on Everything Bagels. What can I say? They are awesome. The lox in particular is ridiculous. BOTH bagel sides, top and bottom are dressed up with bagel, cream cheese, onions, capers, AND lox. So it feels like you are getting two sandwiches. I'm okay with that. So if you are following with the math, I have my BLT, with my two lox spreads, which feels like three full sandwiches. The service is fast, and they are all super friendly. Really great bagel shop. As a native New Yorker, it's only the second one in the 757 I can say that about. The bagels themselves are delicious and perfect, and they have a great menu of sandwiches to go along with them. We had a classic onion bagel with lox and the "New Jersey" with Taylor ham, egg, and cheese. We figured we had to try a couple tri-state classics to start, and they both were great. The coffee was also excellent and served in iconic NYC blue and white paper cups, a nice touch of authenticity.
