I recently had a generator installed by Teck Electric, from Dyer Indiana. The process was smooth,…read moreand the installation happened quickly. The attached pics are from the actual installation and of the brochure that the salesman gave me. Do you see anything missing? I call Teck about the fascia, which is the cover at the base of the unit, as shown in the brochure that was given to me during the sales call. When I was given the sales pitch, I wasn't told that this would be an extra charge... A day or so after the installation, I noticed that this was missing, so I texted the sales rep Arty, crickets. I then called the company and got the "supply chains / covid" excuse. Now if I want the "beauty cover" it will cost an additional ~200 bucks. I'm thinking when you spend 10k on a generator it should come with what's shown in the brochure, right? When I saw the picture of the car I bought, it had nice rims. And when I picked it up, the nice rims came with the car. It didn't have stock black steel rims. I'm still waiting for the sales guy to get back to me. I'll make an update if anything changes.

My 70+-year-old retired father purchased a Generac whole-home generator approximately three years…read moreago from Teck Electric in Dyer, Indiana. The generator's primary purpose was to ensure that his home would never be without power because my stepmother suffers from declining COPD, is currently in hospice care, and requires oxygen 24 hours a day. When the severe storm on August 11 knocked out power to more than 90% of Northwest Indiana, including my father's home, the generator failed to turn on. As a result, my stepmother's oxygen stopped. My father and brother immediately began calling hospice and 911, but because the storm had just passed, they could not get through to anyone--not even 911. Realizing this was a life-or-death emergency, they decided they had to get her to the hospital themselves before she could no longer breathe. When they went outside to get the car ready, they discovered that a large tree branch had fallen on top of both vehicles. They were able to remove the branch, despite damage to one of the cars, and rushed my stepmother to the hospital. She remained in the hospital for 10 days because the power at my father's home was not restored until August 20. In the meantime, my father and brother repeatedly attempted to contact Teck Electric for emergency service. They explained that the generator failure was literally a matter of life and death and that the unit was only about three years old. After three days, Teck Electric finally returned my brother's call and told him to purchase a new battery from AutoZone. That did not solve the problem. After he called again, a technician was eventually sent to the home on Monday, August 17. The technician reportedly determined that the generator needed a new part and said it was being ordered immediately, should arrive within 24 hours, and that they would get the generator running as soon as it arrived. On August 19, hospice informed the family that my stepmother needed to be released from the hospital or risk being removed from hospice care. However, she could not safely return home because there was still no power and no working generator to operate her oxygen equipment. Hospice began making arrangements to move her to one of their facilities until power could be restored. Fortunately, power returned on August 20, and she was able to return home on August 21. As of today, August 25, the replacement part still has not arrived--or at least has not been installed--and the Generac generator remains out of service. To make matters worse, the power went out again at approximately 2:00 a.m. on August 24 and remained off for about four hours. Thankfully, my family was prepared because they already knew they could not depend on the generator. They had a two-hour battery backup and an emergency oxygen tank provided by hospice. My brother continues to call Teck Electric's main office and has received little to no response. He has also repeatedly called the 24-hour service line and left multiple messages without receiving return calls or updates. Today, I personally went to Teck Electric's Dyer location to ask whether the part had arrived. I was told, "It should arrive today, but we have not received confirmation." I understand that the recent storm created an overwhelming number of service calls and that many electrical companies are extremely busy. However, this situation involves a hospice patient who requires continuous oxygen to survive. This is not simply a matter of being inconvenienced without electricity. If my father and brother had not been able to act as quickly as they did, my stepmother could have died. If my brother had not been there, my 70+-year-old father may not have been able to get her safely to the hospital on his own--especially after discovering that both vehicles had been damaged by a fallen tree branch. The generator was purchased specifically to prevent this exact situation from happening. Its failure nearly had devastating consequences, and three years after its installation, it is still not operational more than two weeks after the initial outage. I believe people in Northwest Indiana should know about this experience, particularly families who rely on backup generators to protect medically vulnerable loved ones. Update: Sept. 3rd. received a call our part was finally in, as of Sept. 16th. still have not received a call from a repair personal to come out and fix the generator, no one is answering our calls, storms expected for the next few days, stepmom on anxiety meds hoping she wont suficate if they lose power.

What really stood out was how easy they were to reach directly. They responded quickly and showed up the same day, even though they fit me into an incredibly packed schedule during a very difficult time--right after a major storm had caused widespread destruction and left entire communities dealing with electrical problems. Their willingness to make time for us meant a great deal. They kept me informed throughout the work, and their communication was exceptionally professional, clear, and responsive. They were also fair and reasonable with pricing--no gouging, no surprises, just quality work and honest service. It is hard to find electricians who combine technical skill, promptness, professionalism, and friendliness so well. If you need electrical work done and want people who are reliable, responsive, knowledgeable, and genuinely pleasant to work with, Electric Power Solutions is absolutely the company to call.

The communication from Jeff during this process was top notch. Thank you EPS.

NIPSCO said that I needed an electrician to reattach the wire as it was not their responsibility to do such work. Enter Chris and Kurt - what a team! They work very well together and assessed my problem and gave me two estimates. They suggested to me that I go with option one and gave me a 1 year guarantee that if that didn't hold, they'd come back and provide option 2 and give me credit for what I already paid. They were very knowledgeable and friendly and answered all my questions. I'm very satisfied with the work they did and think their pricing was quite reasonable. I'm very glad to recommend them and kudos to the company for having these 2 guys working for them!

That kind of tells me they will be overpriced. They did not tell me of they charge until they were out. I paid it but it seems a little weird. I will update when I see the quote, but right now for that it will be a 1 star. Adding on to this in response to peyton email. Thank you for your response and for refunding the $69 dispatch fee. I do want to clarify that I had no issue at all with your technician. He was very professional, and my review was not intended as a criticism of him or the service he provided while at my home. My concern was with the dispatch fee. Whether it was mentioned during the scheduling call or not, my underlying point was that I have had several contractors come to my home to quote work and have not encountered a separate dispatch fee simply to provide an estimate. As I stated, I also intended to revisit my review after the process was complete. Based on the professionalism of your technician and the fact that I felt your quote was reasonable, I would have given your company a much higher rating. That is why I find the decision to simply decline the work somewhat surprising. Rather than discussing my concern and allowing the overall experience to play out, you have chosen not to even consider moving forward with the project. From a customer's perspective, declining work because someone questioned a fee and expressed an opinion about it does not come across as particularly professional. I appreciate the refund, but I wanted to make sure my position was clear. My concern was never with your technician or the quality of his interaction with me. In fact, his professionalism and your reasonable quote had left me with a much more positive impression of your company before receiving this response.
