The owner came by when we asked him to describe the company, the product and the guarantees. No bullsh*t. He made an estimate and honored it. Once we signed the contract, easy to do, everything went as scheduled -- pre-work visit, preceded by a call. Shingles delivered on time. Work started a day late because of rain (we were called about that too). When work started, the foreman was there, and we got another call. The guys went up, did it in a day plus 2 hours the next day. All very nice, hard-working. Stuff does float down and there's no way to prevent that, but they really cleaned up. Supervisor spoke good English so we could communicate well. Again, clean-up of our place and our neighbors was thorough. Got a call later to find out how everything went. This roofing company has been an absolute nightmare to deal with during an HOA-sponsored project. While the project may have been approved through the community, the way this crew has treated residents has been unacceptable. The plan was supposed to include three separate staging areas, but instead this crew has effectively taken over our street for the past four months. Our neighborhood has been left dealing with the consequences: a fenced-off parking area for guests, construction equipment, debris, and a portable toilet placed directly outside my front door. The crew frequently leaves the gate to the staging area open, blocking the street and creating an obstruction even when no workers are present. When residents have attempted to close the gate simply so traffic can pass through, we have been yelled at by workers for touching it. On one occasion, I came home to find their bucket truck parked on my front lawn. They were not working on my home or any roofs on my street. When I questioned the worker, I was told the project manager had given permission to park there. This is especially frustrating considering homeowners can be fined by the HOA for parking on their own lawns, yet this company apparently feels entitled to use private property without permission. The final issue occurred when a neighbor was trying to leave for work and the crew was again blocking the street with the gate. The worker told him they had "permission from the community higher ups," that they "do whatever they want," and that they do not answer to residents -- only the project manager. That attitude says a lot about the level of respect they have shown the people who live here. On top of everything else, roofing nails and construction debris have been left throughout the street because our area has become the primary staging location for the entire project. Residents are being forced to deal with the disruption, safety concerns, and inconvenience while the company shows little accountability. A construction project can be disruptive, but basic courtesy, communication, and respect for residents should not be too much to ask. Insurance approved a new roof and all associated work , siding, etc. NV Roofing took all the insurance money LAST OCTOBER 2022! NV Roofing has NOT done any work. I have placed many phone calls, sent many emails, looked them up on google maps and drove out to their office. Still NO Work has been done! After 20 years my roof finally needed replacing. I just can't say enough about how EASY this process was with NV Roofing. Roger Francis came to the house, inspected the roof and explained the process to me. The roof was then inspected a few days later with the insurance company and an inspector for NV and a day later my insurance company approved the roof. Several follow ups later, my roof is scheduled for replacement this week. I really didn't have to do a thing! Roger couldn't be more knowledgeable and kind. These big projects can be overwhelming but not this time. This was easier than buying a new dishwasher, if that's possible. They have a great process worked out to eliminate the owner having to fight with the insurance companies and do the scheduling themselves and the process is amazing. Made an appointment for them to come on between 9 and 9:30am on Friday so see about getting our roof replaced. At 8:40am their salesman Joe shows up and rings our doorbell. My wife and myself were still getting ready as I did not expect them to show up until 9am. So I am hurrying to get dressed because the guy shows up 20 minutes before he was supposed to and I take this as a bad sign as being pushy and unprofessional. So I go outside and meet salesman Joe and right away he makes me feel uncomfortable. He is getting very close to me when he is talking and even when I step back he steps forward towards me and is about a foot away and felt he was making advances towards me. I am a very straight male and did not appreciate his aggressive proximity. He is being very pushing with his sales approach and is bragging about how much better his company is over the competition, running down the competition, etc which is very unprofessional. Then starts trying to sell me on getting our two skylights replaced and is very aggressive about this, never talking about the actual roof and what type of materials they would use, etc. He then said he wanted to come inside and of course I didn't want him coming inside because of his advances and finally I got tired of his high pressure sales tactics and told him I had to go and he left. Finally got rid of him but it left me with a headache from him being so pushy and his advances. I called the office to complain about him and the girl I spoke to was very nice and said the manager or owner were not in so I told her about my unsettling experience with salesman Joe. NV Roofing recently completed an entire roof replacement at our home near Haymarket. In the process of doing the work, they found and replaced (at a very reasonable price) roof decking that had rotted under a double layer of roof shingling that dated back to the original construction of the home in 1984. NV Roofing replaced and repaired the alignment of gutters, removed leaf guards that were ineffective, and repaired three openings of prior and existing skylights that had leaked, also. They made recommendations regarding ice and snow underlayment that have helped stop the leaks and made our home much more livable. The work was done in a very timely manner, and NV Roofing provided quality control professionals (Nathan was outstanding) to ensure that our landscaping was protected by the work. Jeff Shrinsky was NV Roofing's sales contact, and he was very professional, courteous, patient, and not at all pushy. He explained different shingle options and the price points for each. We were able to get a shingle that was almost identical to the architectural shingle look that we had previously. We've had more than one rain storm since the installation, and we have not experienced any leaks or problems. I recommend NV Roofing, Jeff, and Nathan to anyone who is seeking roofing services. Incidentally, this was the third job that NV Roofing has performed for us. They also did an excellent job on our previous home in Herndon. read more

He inspected the roof and made himself available when the insurance assessor came to evaluate what damaged had occurred during the storm and what needed replacing. During the work he came out and checked in with the crew and ensured that we were satisfied with the work and how the crew conducted themselves at our home. He immediately followed up months later when I had some concerns about gutter guards and ensured crew came by and resolved my issue within a week. Fine, as long as you have no problems. If I had to write a review based solely on my first experience with Northern Virginia Roofing Company, then it would be much more positive. The worst thing I would have said then was that getting the estimate took longer than was promised, we had to specifically request an itemized estimate for our insurance more than once before we finally got it, and the workmen crushed my azalea bushes in the front yard during the work, which they're still recovering from a year and a half later. Nothing too major. Late 2015 we noticed wet spots on our ceilings in several bedrooms. We had someone from NV Roofing come out to assess the problem, and give us an estimate. We also had an insurance adjuster come out, and because there was hail damage, insurance covered a significant portion. NV Roofing worked with our insurance company throughout this process. Given the extent of the damage and the age of the existing roof, it made sense to replace rather than just do repairs. The project managers were professional and pleasant, everyone was there on time, the work was started and completed when they said it would be, and they cleaned up after themselves. Everything would have been dandy, if it weren't for the fact that nine months later we noticed new wet spots in various bedrooms, from our brand new roof. What followed was WEEKS of frustration, as I had to phone and email repeatedly to first have someone come out and see what the problem was, and then to get it fixed. The problem turned out to be an installation error. The roofline vent gap was several inches too large, so rain just blew in under it, ran down the rafters, and dripped onto the ceiling. Nobody could explain how such an obvious error could have been made, an error that by their own admission should never have been made, but there it was. I made numerous calls, left many, many messages and emailed as well. Getting a response was like pulling teeth. Everyone was always polite on the phone, I have no complaints there, but I also never felt like there was any customer service, or any sense of urgency. Nobody let me know what was going on, and it could take days or more to hear back about what was going on, and that was usually after I called them, not the other way around. Eventually a crew came out and repaired the mistake, followed by painters to come repaint our ceilings after my spouse just about blew a gasket. However, to have gotten to this point it probably took about six weeks, which is very long when it's Fall and the weather is turning and you're worried about further damage. One of the true tests of a company is how well they deal with mistakes and their clients, and based on that, I will never hire nor recommend NV Roofing again. The obvious lapses in follow-up and communication make the initial error completely unforgivable. read more

Terrible customer service and very unresponsive to customers calls/ email. I will never use this company again, nor will I ever refer them! We signed a contract to replace our entire roof & gazebo on 4/3/18. The Proj. Manager that came to our home,Matt B. said that they will begin our roof within 4 weeks. After a few calls for updates on a schedule/ time frame on when they will begin the work, they finally showed up on Friday, 6/29/18. The roof was completed the next day, Saturday, 6/30/18, however they did not properly install the Ridge Vent Extension and the Smoke Stack was also not put on correctly. In addition to that, they did not replace the roof of the gazebo. We asked the crew on site why they had not done the gazebo; they responded that Northern Virginia roofing only gave them enough material for the roof and not the gazebo. My husband called & send pictures of the unfinished work to Matt. We got NO CALL BACK and NO RESPONSE to the email. Finally after a few days, Matt responded and said that they will complete our project when they return to our neighborhood to replace our neighbors's roof (by the way, we referred our neighbor to them the day we signed our contract). Anyway, they can out to do our neighbors roof and replaced the roof on our gazebo on Friday, 7/13/18. They however still did not fix the Ridge Vent Extension and the Smoke Stack from the work previously done on our roof in June. Again we called and send email. Finally on Friday, 8/17/18, a crew came by our home to properly install and extend the Ridge Vent. But, they still did not fix the Smoke Stack. My husband again called and sent out on email on Monday, 8/2/018. Up until today, 8/21/18, no one from Northern Virginia roofing has been by our home to inspect the work, and we have no idea on when they are coming by to straighten / fix the smoke stack. We signed a contract on April 3, 2018 and up until today August 21, 2019 the work has not been properly completed. read more

This is the second time we have used Northern Virginia Roofing for a roof repair project and the second time we have been satisfied fully! Our roofing contractor (Ernesto) did a very thorough and professional inspection of the problem area of the roof, verified by pictures to explain the problem and prescribed the remedies. The work was completed in the timely manner even though the temperature was in the high 80s. He was careful to not harm the landscaping (Japanese Maple) and left no mess or indication he was there - except our roof is now worry free. 5 stars! Highly recommend! read more

I have used NV for two complete roofs. One on a large home for a very high end roof and one on a townhome for a very nice lifetime quality shingle. Both jobs went extremely well, without a hitch. The first job resulted from a hail storm destroying our roof. The owner, John, personally came out to our home when the insurance adjuster was there. He was instrumental in seeing that the insurance company agreed to a full replacement. This was above and beyond what I expected. The replacement roof was a very high end roof with many options. The owner and his staff worked with me extensively to discuss options, the details of ventilation, deck covering, ice and water shield, the snow guards, etc. It was large and complex job. They were fantastic. The second job resulted from the failure of the builder's grade roof on our town home. NV came out immediately and covered the areas of shingle blow off with a tarp. They worked with the HOA to get he roof approved. Then, they did a flawless installation. I've had them back for repairs and warranty service since. They come back for any warranty issues quickly and get the repair done. They REALLY stand behind their work. It's not like they forget who you are once you have the job done. Once they do a job for you they are there for you. Really. They are one of the very best contractors that I've ever worked with. I could not recommend any roofer more highly. I needed to get my leaking roof replaced and a good friend recommended that I give Ryan Reighard with Northern Virginia Roofing and Exteriors a call. He had his roof replaced the previous year along with a LOT of his neighbors. He told me that they would go above and beyond my expectations. From the first call I felt comfort talking to Ryan. He answered our questions and set up a time to meet the next day for an estimate. The other contractors could not meet for two weeks and none were able to answer any questions on the phone. I felt great relief knowing that NV Roofing was serious about roofing. Ryan showed up 5 minutes early and called to inform us he thought he may be about 5 minutes late. That is yet another great thing about these guys. They are AWESOME with their communication. Speaking to Ryan about the estimate he showed us the high quality products they use when install the roof. The price was actually lower than we expected as well. Ryan was quite technical and even though I have a small background in construction I still had to ask Ryan to dumb it down for us which he did happily. He explained the process as well as timelines in great detail from the time we sign the contract to roof completion. I must say it was impressive at how well we were informed. The materials were dropped off a couple of days prior to installation. That was just in case they had a cancellation and they would bump us up. It shows that they are very efficient. The day of the install Ryan showed up with his Assistant Project Manager Mike Nelson. Ryan kicked off this roofing project and requested Mike stay onsite as we predicted some damage to the plywood. Well, it was discovered after they had removed the 2 layers of shingles that the plywood was soaked and delaminating. It would require over 60% at a minimum of the plywood on the roof to be replaced. After talking to Ryan and Mike we decided it was best to replace the entire roof since the remaining plywood would only last a few more years. Ryan and Mike were able to get a load of plywood dropped off at our house pretty quickly and work continued. I was extremely grateful that Ryan and Mike took A LOT of pictures of the damage and sent it to us. Like I said previously, the communication was awesome. Because of this, I was informed every step of the way, even though I was at work, it felt like I was onsite. They certainly take the worry out of the unknown. Mike kept an eye on the roof performing Quality and Assurance checks throughout the entire installation. The installation crew was amazing. Even though we had a huge hiccup with the plywood, these guys kicked some serious A$$. They never slowed down. I have never seen such incredible work ethic. They stayed on top of cleaning as they went. I still cannot believe they actually finished the entire process in just one Day. What I also liked was that Ryan returned a few times to spot check the work as well. You can tell Mike and Ryan take their business very seriously and actually care about the customer and product. That seems to be more and more scarce these days. Good customer service is a dying art and I was ready to lose faith in contractors. Ryan and Mike were able to turn that thought around. Now most times when it comes to the final clean up I found that most contractors do a sub-par job. Not these guys they stayed on top of the mess from start to finish. They lay down these gigantic tarps around the house to catch all the loose debris. I was told that they remove roughly 12000 to 14000 nails and screws per roof. We only found 3 total nails that were very well hidden from sight and stuck so the magnet couldn't grab them. I would say that's pretty darn good! They use a large magnet to get them all up and they make several passes over the same area to ensure a good thorough clean up. Then the next day Mike came and ran the magnet again. Talk about excellent service. The roof looks amazing and we are getting tons of compliments on it. Well except for one neighbor who had his roof completed the month earlier by another contractor and was absolutely miserable with them. I am pretty sure he was jealous though. He actually met and talked to Mike and Ryan while they were here. He had very positive things to say about their personalities and knowledge. Thank You Ryan, Mike and Crew for the amazing job you did on our home and for your professionalism. I appreciate all of your efforts and hope you keep up the awesome work. I have used NVR for several exterior projects at our home over many years and have been completely satisfied, but this was the first time I've used them for repair work and given the severity of the recent wind storm, I anticipated a long delay in getting the work done and not sure how disadvantaged I would be with the cost given the high demand for repair work. Pleasantly, the work was completed in 3 business days and the price was very reasonable. Rachel, who scheduled my work request and Danny the technician that performed the repairs were both beyond nice, very courteous, and very concerned that we were pleased with the work which was outstanding. I decided to give them a call to set up an appointment for them to check my roof for potential damage. Ryan came to my house and took several pictures to show that I did suffer hail damage. No. Va Roofing made the process of getting a new roof a fairly painless process, working with my insurance and then setting up the time for the roof install. It took them a day and a half to finish and by the time they were done, I had a beautiful new roof thanks to No. Va Roofing. Terrible experience that started out solid until insurance made my repair smaller than anticipated. What was due to be completed in mid-August wasn't done until end of December and the only time I could get return calls or feedback from the company was when they wanted money. They had their deposit before work even started, but there were some "extra fees" that came up that I wasn't even told about. I just received a check from insurance because they contacted them directly. Then, NV Roofing started asking me to pay the "new" balance before they had finished THEIR part of the job. There was no communication and they would have repair crews show up unannounced. One crew showed up unexpected on New Years Eve while I had company at the house and just started working outside. I would not recommend unless you spend enough to, perhaps, warrant NV Roofing's full attention. read more

We were contacted by Ryan Reighard in early spring 2017 which followed the huge hail storm that hit Stafford on February 25, 2017. NVR was in the neighborhood doing estimates for neighbors and we welcomed Ryan into our home to do a quick inspection on our roof as well. His quick check showed that we did indeed have multiple hail strikes, so we called our insurance company to set up an inspection. Our roof had hundreds of hail strikes, so it was a complete loss. At least 15 other homes in my neighborhood had the same situation. Ryan met with our insurance adjuster and they came up with an estimate which was quickly paid by my wonderful insurance company, USAA. Once work started, there were a few other items that had to be added, but that wasn't a problem. The job was scheduled and the materials were ordered and arrived right on time. The dumpster arrived a day or so before work began and everything went smoothly. During the actual work, Ryan was on our roof sending us on-the-spot texts with pictures of the condition of our roof. I thought this was really professional and interesting because homeowners just can't get up on their roofs to see what's going on during roof repairs. Throughout the day, Ryan sent us pictures of work proceeding, and even sent us one that showed that one of the plywood sheets was damaged and needed to be replaced. The workers took great care to cover my plants and hardscape around the house, and to collect all the nails and junk that had to come down. My biggest worry was for my Japanese weeping maple that is pretty close to the house, and she came out unscathed. They did a great job cleaning up everything. We did find about three dozen nails around the house in the following months in random places, but that couldn't be helped. All in all, the workers did an amazing job. I waited a few months to write this review for a couple of reasons. The first is that I just became very busy right after the work was done. But mostly I waited until after we had had a few pretty hard rain events to make sure that we had no leaks or problems with the new roof. So far, so good. I trust that if anything should happen with the new roof, Ryan Reighard and Northern Virginia Roofing & Exteriors would be there to stand behind their work. read more

A couple months ago I noticed that a lot of my neighbors were getting their roofs done. Most of them were done by Northern Virginia Roofing. My neighbor explained to me that it was due to the hailstorm we had last year. So I contacted Ryan who turned out to be the project manager for the job. Ryan is very friendly and professional. He patiently explained the entire process to me since it involved the insurance company and the mortgage company. He came out to meet the insurance adjuster to inspect the roof. He also worked with the inspector to come up with the acceptable estimate for the job. The estimate was promptly approved by my insurance company. The job was done in a timely manner. Even though it was a relatively big job, it was done in about 3 days only. Thru out the process, Ryan and another supervisor kept a stream of photo updates. And they also tried to explain what they were doing. Even after the job was done, I still get occasional pictures from different angles of my house as they worked on other houses in my neighborhood. You can tell they take pride in what they do. All in all, it was a pleasant experience. And I will use this company again. read more

We had, had some hail damaged from the hail storm in February. NV came out about a week after giving us a estimating sating that insurance should be able to cover and they would work with out insurance to have roof replaced. It took the insurance claim no tie at all to have insurance checks sent to us. but we did not hear back from NV for several weeks.Upon calling and complaining they we it happen and were out the nest day. I paid the amount that was written up on the contract statingwhat we owed for our new roof. but a week later calling back they had some adjustments stating we owe about 2,000 more dollars due to overhead and nitty gritty details that were not laid out in the contracts. I feel cheated and scammed by this and will not be doing any further business with them in the future. read more

I had several bids to replace my roof until my neighbor told me about Northern Virginia Roofers & Exteriors recently replaced his roof and he was extremely satisfied. I can understand why. I called to get my final estimate from his contact at NVRE, Ryan, and he walked me through the damage (via through pictures) and said he would be more than happy to meet my claims adjuster to explain the wind and hail damage done to my roof. His bid was priced in the middle of the other bids I received however when we went through each item his materials were superior to the competitors, even down to the tar paper, which they don't use, instead a synthetic(rubbery) durable material. His customer service was outstanding and accommodating. read more

The company did a very expensive copper gutter installation. But, the design of the system was flawed. In heavy rains, the water completely overpowered the gutters and overflowed (even between the gutter and the roof, which was scary). Rob, the general manager, who was professional and knowledgeable, personally came to the house and inspected. He said that a gutter crew would come and finish the evaluation and that he would be in touch, but, after almost 10 communications from me (email and phone), the company went incommunicado. I received a notice in the mail about getting a free quote after a severe hailstorm in February 2017. I contacted them and they sent out a project manager who inspected the roof and told me what damage he had found (which was not much). I then contacted my insurance company who sent out an inspector. The insurance company found damage similar to what the PM had found. They sent me an estimate and a cash settlement. I then contacted the PM via e-mail about getting the repairs done. I had to e-mail him a second time and he then requested I send a copy of the insurance estimate, which I did. Despite a couple more e-mails from me I never heard back. I then sent a message to the company via their web site and never heard back from them, either. I can only assume my job was too small for them to bother with. Good luck getting an estimate back. I urgently needed my roof to be replaced and an estimator was sent over, who did a thorough inspection and said he would send me the quote within a week. After 2 weeks and no estimate I followed up with the company and they apologized on behalf of the estimator and said that they would get back to me ASAP. Several more weeks passed and I continued to call, getting the same response or an answering machine, to which I left messages that were never returned. After over a month since the estimator had visited, I gave up and went with the only other company that I had an estimate from. 3 months have past since then and I still have not been called back. We had a representative come out, Kevin Hinton, who advertises on his business card that he is a Marine, which, as a Marine myself, you'd think he would do what he said and provide us with a quote, but it has been two weeks and nothing. He was going to get on the roof and take measurements, but as soon as he found out that our insurance company was involved, he immediately asked for their estimate and when we advised that we wanted an independent estimate and then we could compare notes, he refused to get on the roof and left. I sent him emails and received no response. I think this not only looks bad on NVR, but as a consumer, I will never recommend this company. read more

It's now 8/1/2018, and since my last review, Northern Virginia Roofing has replaced both skylights, but not the siding (the original issue) and now we have water damage to our living room, our master bath, and our master bedroom thanks to bad roofing+bad skylight replacement. Deryl has been communicative, but Janine ("QA") has completely ignored any requests to fix water pouring into our bedroom. Matt Bly ("PM") is absent entirely, and Moises ("Logistics") can't figure out when our siding is going to come in after we've had this contract since Thanksgiving. I literally can't come up with a reason any of this is happening but I do encourage any one considering roofing to ask about this situation, and I'll happily provide email chains to anyone. I'll be at their offices in person, a second time, tomorrow and will update this post after our siding is finally done and the leaking roof over our master bedroom is fixed. read more
