This is one of those places you hear about how great the food is, snd hope it lives up to the hype. I'm happy to say it did. The service wasn't very fast, but the food was delicious and a great price. The crab Rangoons were crispy, sweet and delicious. The pad Thai and chow mein were both 5 stars to us.

Nam gai/kow poon, papaya salad and wings

Ordered papaya salad, chicken wings and Nam gai (kow poon). Service was great and they were attentive. The papaya salad was (I think) thai style and was good. It had a good amount of funk and spice (I got three peppers). The wings were advertised as 8 but I only got 6, but it's okay. Just need to fix their menu. The wings had a good fry on it and were tasty. The nam gai was good but I probably wouldn't order again. I'm used to a lot more coconut milk, spicy red oil on top, and a richer broth overall, but I think that's more so Hmong or Lao style Nam gai/kow poon. Overall I'd come back for the great service and the food.

Being part Thai, I do enjoy their Thai ice coffee. But because I enjoyed it,my only request to offer a bigger cup size :)

One of my favorite places in Des Moines. They were out of my favorite dish the Angry Catfish. They did substitute talapia for me. The Nur Nam Tuk (Spelling it wrong I'm sure) Beef has an amazing dipping sauce so ask for extra. Pairs perfect with their sticky rice. My daughter ordered the Pad Thai Noodles. Those were just ok to me but she loved them. Being from CA they tasted very tame. Been coming here for 20 yrs or so. Not much has changed and i like that. Never a busy dining room so very quiet to dine in.

Love love love Nutpob ! Always good, easy to adjust the heat if you like it hotter. Our family eats from all parts of the menu so we try it all. I enjoy the pad Thai my husband loves the Pad See ew . Large yummy (sweet) crab Rangoon.

I took my 11 year old for his first experience here in this restaurant and he loved it! He ordered the egg rolls and beef pad Thai and he loves it so much, he saved some to take to school!

Best angry chicken in town! Getting it for takeout once a week still feels like not enough! Tip: you can get a half order (3) of crab Rangoon. Their papaya salad can we ordered specified to heat preference... I usually do medium which is about 4 peppers.

I have an onion allergy... Will they prepare food for me without onions?

You would have to call the restaurant and ask them that question.

We try one new restaurant each month just to keep things fresh, so this time I suggested Fawn's. I'm really glad we did. I had heard so many great things about the food so I was excited to try it. When I saw the menu, though, I was a little nervous because they serve Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai and Laotian food. In my experience, restaurants that try to serve all kinds of Asian food rarely do one or all of them well. I ordered Pad Thai and my husband got Evil Jungle Prince. I was very pleased. It was the best Pad Thai I've ever eaten. It was SO good! My husband loved his dish, too. It had chicken and vegetables with a spicy sauce made with red curry and coconut milk. The prices were very reasonable and the portions were huge. We each got two meals out of our dinners. I love it when that happens. The place isn't fancy. It's in a small strip mall and doesn't look like much from the outside. Inside it's very clean and well-kept. There's not much for ambience besides two flat screen TVs. It doesn't matter because it's the food that really stands out. The service was excellent, too. My husband had his iced tea refilled twice without even asking. Great affordable food and good service. What more can you ask for? If you love Asian food, give them a try. I can't wait to go back and try more of their dishes.

There is a decent-sized dining area and a very nice outdoor patio as well. It was a nice day during my visit, so I sat on the patio. The staff there was very friendly. Their menu has traditional pizzas such as sausage, pepperoni, and meatzilla. They also have some unique Asian inspired creations like Tai Chicken, Mac and Cheese, General Tso's Chicken, Iowan, Crab Ragoon, and Korean Beef Chicken pizzas. They also have soups and salads, and Chinese food entrees like Beef and Broccoli, Stir-Fry Chicken, Sesame Chicken, Orange Chicken, and Chili Garlic Shrimp. And yes, they have some of the best tiki drinks and mocktails around. I ordered a Painkiller and a Waving Cat to go with my Bang Bang Chicken Pizza. It took them about 12 minutes to prepare my pie. It was fresh and hot. It was also so good. I have never had a pizza like that before. It was very flavorful and tasty. It was so good, I even forgot to take a picture of it because I just jumped right in. My drinks came out much sooner, and they were also really, really good. The staff there was very friendly and attentive. My service was first class. I am so glad I found this spot and got to experience it. Staff was friendly as is usual with most of the Wasabi locations. I feel like a recognized a couple people from Wasabi Chi. We were greeted right away as we walked in. Everything was good as far as the food and the service, but I felt out of place as I found myself reminiscing about the businesses Wasabi Urbandale has taken the place of... The many meals I'd had at the horseshoe bar in Irina's...which is now gone. The special moments shared with friends at Wasabi Chi in my past. I got the feeling of being in any other Wasabi here. It's almost a cookie cutter of Ankeny, Johnston, Waukee... Not that there is anything wrong with that. Wasabi offers consistently good food and service at all it's locations. I just found myself missing an emotional connection that I wanted to feel this time.

The sushi is top-grade and it's a perfect place for a date night! (... with the most beautiful sunsets.)

Crab Rangoon were on point - brown and crisp, not barely done and chewy like most places. There were 4 of us, we had the $65 set and had more than enough. Ariyan is on the former Oh Sushi location in the Beaverdale area…read more Oh Sushi had an all you can eat (ayce) sushi option that I used to get about once every couple of months. After they bought the business and before rebranding to Ariyan they did away with the all you can eat sushi option. Understandable, but it's one of the things that made Oh Sushi as popular as it was. Though the variety of options was less that Izumi or other buffets who offer ayce sushi in the metro... The quality of the sushi at Oh Sushi was above and beyond. This elimination really disappointed me at the time as well as others. That being said I knew that eventually I would get to Ariyan. My daughter and I stopped in this past Saturday for lunch. Parking is available in two nearby lots and on the street. Seating is all low top tables and chairs with a bench along the South wall. The decor is the same for the most part. Tasteful and modern yet traditional. The host station is now in the Southwest corner v. the Southeast corner (closest to the door). I'm not sure why they made that change... It seems a little awkward for the host station to be that far away from the door. It also eliminated one of my favorite tables to sit at... The menu is extensive with a wide selection of sushi and rolls. They also have some typical Chinese and Thai options available. I was happy to see two of my favorite rolls still on the menu. We ordered: 1x Anger Management roll 1x Black Panther roll 1x Orange chicken (spice level 3 with white rice) 1x Miso soup (came free with our order...one of the specials) 2x Waters Service was good. The young lady serving us was attentive and seemed nice. The specials were a little hard to follow... At the time we were there they were running 15% off of select items and a free side. I'm still not sure what we ordered to get the free side... Lol I tried a piece of my daughter's orange chicken. I liked it. The sauce had good flavor. The breading was starting to fall off and I think she would have preferred it a little more crispy. The heat level for a 3 was appropriate. The base flavors of my two rolls were the same as they used to be. Same components and sauces, but there was a weird grit to both rolls. It was hard for me to pin down what exactly it was. I'm still not sure if it was just a different rice or something else... Despite the difference in texture they were both good. But not the same... I shouldn't have expected them to be. While I was overall happy with my experience at Ariyan I'm not sure it's enough to make me drive over to Beaverdale anymore. I can get similar menu options at any of the Wasabis, Cool Basil, or Mandarin closer to where I live in the metro. I realize this review is somewhat jaded since I'm comparing it to the former business model... A place I held close to my heart. I almost wish Ariyan had changed it up 100% and not tried to carry over pieces of the Oh Sushi menu and experience, but not all of it. I would still encourage you to try Ariyan out! Especially if you are close to the Beaverdale area...! It might end up being your favorite new spot for sushi and Asian cuisine! https://www.facebook.com/ariyandsm/
