For a while I have been trying to find a contractor who can do some brick on my house. I saw my neighbor who was having their patio redone by Nuera and it looked great. I decided to ask Sam for an estimate. I agreed to the work. Just a somewhat a rough going at the very beginning due to delays and then I had another neighbor who was very annoying. This was a 3 stage brick project. First the grinding of the bricks, which was the hardest part and it bother a lot of people due to the dust. 2nd the power wash. Finally repointing of the bricks. Towards the end, the complete finish looks great, very pleased. Sam was great to work with and accommodating. His staff did a great job. They took their time with the work and was not rushing. May we have the front of our house redone. The contractor company put Bluestone for us on the top and bottom of the balcony. Last month we asked them to seal the stones. they came sealed the pavers with an acid product, causing all the bluestone to get burnt inside. We call the company and no answer when they do finally answer we get the runaround. They do not want to come fix the damage they caused. We have text messages, pictures and proof of the damages caused by the employees. read more

Sam seemed like a reasonable person. He took our deposit then stalled the start of the installation by a month, then started the job. His crew was pretty sloppy and left a mess daily. He asked for another deposit in order to purchase more materials that we was supposed to purchase at the start of the project. Then he quit, Keeping the money. After much searching and interviewing contractors we hired Nuera for a concrete stoop replacement in Brooklyn. The project was complicated because we needed to replace a sagging stair while still providing access for the occupants. After discussing this in detail with Nuera, we were assured this was not easy but definitely possible. They were a bit booked up and hard to schedule with so we had to wait around 2 months for their availability (not the end of the world for a good contractor). We wanted to be there on site in case issues arouse and we live out of state. Unfortunately they wouldn't nail down a date until a week or so before so we had to buy some pricey plane tickets once they confirmed the date. Again not the end of the world for a good contractor. Fast forward to the night before construction is to start. My family has flown into town for a 2 week stay (the estimated project duration), gotten accommodations, and ready to get moving with the project. We get a call from Nuera and they tell us they don't know how to structurally do the project. Given we are now 2 months since the contract was signed/deposit given, it was a big surprise. Even scarier is the owner asked me if I had any suggestions on how to do the project. Im just a homeowner not a structural engineer or contractor. I then got a text later that night that they will not be doing the project. No phone call just a text, also didnt pick up my calls. The owner told me he would refund my deposit and offered to pay me my flight costs since we flew to town for nothing. He even went so far as to ask where to mail the flight check. Please note: I did not ask for flight reimbursement or for accommodation reimbursement. Luckily I received my deposit back, however 3 months later I have still never seen that flight reimbursement. Considering I didn't ask them to pay for our flights, why would you offer to pay my flight costs if you weren't actually going to do this? In a nutshell maybe they are good for small jobs, but they take on jobs they don't know how to do. If your project isn't something simple save yourself the headache and potential lost money. Not only did I end up wasting 2 months of time waiting, they cost me a bunch of money in flights and accommodations all for nothing. I ended up finding another company who did an amazing job stress free with no issues whatsoever. The knew exactly how to complete the job and I couldn't be happier with the outcome. An Incomplete job. I hired this company to replace a retainer wall and put a fence around yard, which included a gate. They did a nice job putting the new retainer wall and fence up and they told me they will come back to install the gate in 3 to 5 days. However, they never came back. Twice Sam told me they will come on a weekend to install the gate and never showed up and he never called me to follow up. I have left numerous messages and texts asking when they will come and install the gate but never heard back. Several months have passed now and still have not heard back. I hired this company based on the good reviews I read. I've been a homeowner for over 40 years and during that time, have had many contractors doing work at my house. I can honestly say that Sam and his team at NuEra and among the best workers I've seen. They were just terrific. I had over 100 feet of concrete sidewalk that had to be replaced during the first week of August when temperatures soared to more than 100 degrees. Each day, the men arrived promptly between 7:30 and 8:00 AM and worked all day long stopping only for a very quick lunch. Each eveninng, they left the workplace spotless. The rear brick wall on my house needed to be recoated and some repairs made around the chimney area . I called Nu Era and the response was quick . Price seemed competitive; not inexpensive, but not far over what I expected. Plus, a neighbor recently had major work by Nu Era on the entire exterior of their house plus pavers in the driveway etc, and I was impressed with that job. We had to work around some bad weather, but Sam was in touch via text messages the whole time. They came extra early and were able to complete the job before any possible thunderstorms that evening. I wish I could've provided a better rating if things had gone differently. I hired the company to perform brick pointing and waterproofing. Due to the busy season but Sam missed the anticipated start date even though it was 3 wks out. I had to call multiple times over many days to confirm a start date, which was unnecessary stressful. I wish there was more proactive communication but my calls were always answered. The project took longer than the predicted 2-3 days . There was a total of 3 visits over a course of a week (into weekend) and each visit was a little bit of work. The worker left the place very dusty, to point where my neighbors complained. The workmanship is great with lots of patience and focus to do a beautiful job. However, attitude quickly turned south after I provided some comments/requests. The worker became annoyed and attempted to splash waterproofing solution on me as he invited me to walk closer to inspect his work. He missed. Then he proceeded to scratch the concrete slabs in few places on my porch with a wooden stick, claiming that he was trying to rough up the stick to attach to brush. He over caulked the opening of my outdoor drain, reducing water flow and increased risk of blocking the drain with chucks of silicone. Although Sam never showed up at the site, he was great over the phone and I didn't have any issues with the work quality or the prolonged schedule. It's the actions of the worker that ultimately ruin my experience with Nuera. I cleaned up and removed the silicone afterwards. Not much I can do about the scratches. read more
