I have had three massages by Emily Knell and each one was professional, well balanced, and…read morerejuvenating! I have had a thai massage and two one hour relaxation massages. The Thai Massage was really cool: you are on a big mat like mattress and she moves your body into different poses- almost like yoga where you don't have to do anything at all. It was extremely rejuvenating and so great for anyone who wants increased flexibility and movement from their massage. I dance or do yoga 4-5 times a week, and it was great to have a massage that was helping me in that process, as well as refueling my body. Both relaxation massages were professional and her location is very clean. Without me having to tell her, she could sense where my sore spots or tight muscles were! She plays very relaxing music, and although she informs her clients about what she is doing when necessary- she really lets you go into your own world. I would recommend her to anyone! She is courteous, friendly, and really knows her stuff!

After my first session with Melissa, I had the strangest experience with the pain; it would start up and then quickly dissipate all on its own. This happened repeatedly during the week. In addition, I felt taller somehow. I've also noticed my sleep duration improving a bit. The following week I would still have some pain, but it didn't interfere with my days as much as it had in the past. I considered this a big win. I also noticed a frequent desire to adjust my posture, which I have never felt before. It just felt good to stand and sit up straighter, and I felt more supported by my core while doing so. I've just come from the last session of the three, and during the session, I felt taller, lighter, and like I could breathe deeper. Melissa is remarkably attuned to the body and her training seems to complement her natural ability. I feel very fortunate to have found her, and I look forward to future sessions and even more profound levels of healing with this very talented practitioner.

"Holistic, technical, and genuinely effective -- support this local gem!"…read more I came in hoping to improve my posture and relieve chronic tension in my shoulders, neck, and lower back. What I got was so much more than a typical massage. Melissa has a great eye -- she quickly identified that I had anterior pelvic tilt and explained how it was likely contributing to my tension patterns. She recommended specific exercises to work on between sessions, and also noticed my inner thigh muscles were tight, teaching me how to use tools at home to stretch them out on my own. That kind of personalized, take-home guidance is something you just don't get from a regular massage. One thing I'd want people to know going in: you're active during the session. Melissa pins down your muscles while you move and flex through different positions to maximize the myofascial release. It's technical, intentional work -- more than assisted stretching, though that's part of it. It's a genuinely different experience. Beyond the bodywork itself, Melissa is just a wonderful person and a real part of the Mountain View community. It means a lot to support a local mom and healer, especially one this talented. Just know this is a holistic process -- plan to commit to the series, do the homework between sessions, and you'll get so much more out of it. Highly recommend!

I constantly had thick white phlegm stuck in my throat that wouldn't go up or down, a burning sensation in my throat, and my voice would easily become hoarse. I was also diagnosed with thyroid nodules, BI-RADS category 4 breast calcifications, chronic cold feet, shallow sleep, among other symptoms. After numerous consultations with both Western and traditional Chinese medicine practitioners and undergoing various examinations, the only recommendations were to take vitamin D and have regular check-ups, which yielded minimal improvement. At the beginning of this year, upon a friend's recommendation from the Bay Area, I flew from Los Angeles to seek treatment from Dr. Zhang. Each of her acupuncture needles was precisely placed, each insertion reaching deep with a sore and swollen sensation, and I could strongly feel the qi starting to flow through the meridians. After unblocking the meridians, I took the Chinese herbal medicine prescribed by Dr. Zhang. In less than two months, the phlegm disappeared, I could use regular personal care products, my voice no longer felt hoarse, and I could sleep soundly until seven o'clock. I am grateful for Dr. Zhang's exquisite medical skills, which freed me from the torment of illness in such a short time, and I am thankful to the friend who recommended Dr. Zhang.

When she left to start her own business, I followed her. I've been her client for almost 10 years. Why? I had several old injuries from horseback riding and car accidents in my youth. She told me I had old injuries--and where they were; she could actually feel it from the way my body held tension. It took a series of massages to fix, but even after that first one there was an amazing release that made me realize how out of whack my body was. I travel and have had massages around the world. Amelia is the best. She can do the usual "Swedish massage" with heated stones and it feels great, but her forte is her deep tissue therapeutic massages. Without her, I'd be crippled. She can do a lot in one hour, but if your body is really messed up like mine was, to get the same benefit I'd recommend her 90 minute or 2 hour massages. She goes deep and gets to the heart of the problem to fix you, not just make you feel good for an hour.
