Jay and company power washed and Will and company did the finishing of my old deck. What a wonderfully, thorough job they did! Very quick and neat! No messes in the siding/sliding door and very polite and respectful men. They have the best long lasting stain on the market. Last time they stained my deck was five years ago -it still held up well, except where my Pomeranians dogs would run out the door. I called last week for an appointment for an estimate and was told they would be in my area this Thursday or Friday and would get back to me with details. I had to reach out again a week later and was told that Nathan never provides times for appointments for anyone. I asked for a time frame and was told no. They would call when on their way. I received a text that is declining to give me an estimate because he does not want to provide a time frame. This is no way to do business, This is a problem before it starts. We live in southern Hanover Park (IL) and on separate occasions, Nu-Again stained our deck and refreshed our paver stones: both jobs still look great a year later! Honestly, almost none of the other private contractors out there reply back or update you like a "normal" company does (don't even get me started on the unprofessional landscape companies out there, lol...) Color me surprised when Nu-Again followed up with our quote request and fully took care of everything the FIRST time for our deck. We were like "get them!" for our follow-up project, which entailed filling the cracks between our paver stones. I hired Nu-AGAIN to restore my paver brick patio. After the work was completed, I called the company to replace all of the heavy patio furniture that the workers removed to conduct their work. I was told that there would be an additional fee of $200.00 to move the furniture back. When I initially signed the agreement to have the work done, the salesman never told me that there would be any additional fees to replace the patio furniture. I spoke with Whitley at Nu-AGAIN and she told me that I would have to move the furniture back myself. I told her that I was 81 years old and that my wife, age 78, has mobility problems. Poor work, no follow up to correct work correctly. NEVER returned many of my calls for two years. Owner promised to come a inspect and was always "too busy". Meanwhile the pavers have eroded and it looks terrible. Now the warranty is up ,the situation is not fixed, and I'm out $2300. Do not do business with this company. Do yourself a favor and hire someone else. See for yourself. They just slap the stain on with no attention to the amount. My deck is still wet and sticky after almost 3 months. Mold started growing from the moist conditions. This deck is 9 months old! The floorboards have clumps of stain in between still. Nathan has told me his warranty doesn't cover environmentals....I'm pretty sure it doesn't rain oil based stain. Stain was dripped and spilled on brand new patio. They tried to fix but can't. In the process they ruined some pavers and I have missing polymeric sand. Nathan is difficult to work with and has told me I'm a joke when I've asked him to correct things. I'll get this restored but this will clearly eat up time and energy to be reimbursed. read more

Unfortunately I should have read some of these reviews before getting my deck refinished through NU-again. They were quick to connect with me via phone, schedule a visit and to complete the work but when paint was chipping and I was planning to use the 3 year warranty service, everything went down hill. They apparently came to my house for inspection without any type of coordination and left saying home owner not home. Never called, never gave a date when they will come, didn't even try to ring the front door bell (I have door bell camera) and just mention that my fence was locked (which it should be if you never coordinated) and said they will never visit again because they apparently visited 5 times ! The ladies at the office are great and helpful but definitely cannot say the same about the sales folks. I am hoping the owner sees this and tries to make it right so that I can post an update. read more

I have requested someone from this firm contact me and I don't get a response. They send mailers around and appear to be a viable business. I was just getting ready to try and contact them again when one of my neighbors posted in Next Door outlining a terrible experience and shoddy work from this firm. I will certainly back away from using them and hope a lot of folks see this review. I feel so bad for my neighbor with a blotchy deck that never dried. The owner, Nathan, made sure everything was satisfactory. The service was a little pricey. I had my patio sealed and they came out one day to power wash the patio. Took about an hour. Came back to seal, took about another hour. While sealing, they may have splashed some on my siding as it rained immediately after. A crew came back a few weeks later and could not remove the splashing from my siding. Nathan came out and took care of it. Overall, Nathan saved the review as he made sure I was satisfied. read more

They usually charge a fee to do so. I was told several times by their office, someone would come to help put things back, no one showed. Calls made to them were not returned. We used Nu-Again to do our deck and brick patio. This review is lengthy. They had good communication from the office to tell us they'd be coming out until our projects ended. Once finished, no one called us about final payment and to ask if we were happy. They charged the card we used for the initial deposit which was wrong and caused us a financial burden and we had a lot of issues and no one would return our calls and they kept throwing our calls to voice-mail so I finally found an email address as all there emails are auto generated from a third party service. Also, they were never on schedule, never gave a time frame on the days they were coming, and were supposed to text when on their way but no one ever did , they just show up. They say no one needs to be home but believe me, you need to be there because when I wasn't, they screwed up the job or return calls to fix issues. For the deck, the don't sand off all the old stain. They only light sand off the area. So they stain over the old stain. They do a fast and sloppy job leaving some of the old stain showing even though they do two coats. They replaced three boards charging $125 per board. When done, they left shards of wood behind. They finished the job May 16th and here it is June 20th and I'm still waiting for them to come back and cover up the spots where the old stain is still showing. For the patio. They power washed and while doing so, took off some of the new stain on the deck, which after many voice-mails and emails they finally restained. They moved my patio umbrella down the slope of my grass instead of the flat of my grass but promised to return and move it back for me since I can't do it. They never returned and ruined my grass and my landscapers had to move it. It was so deep down in the grass on that slope that the landscapers had to use two guys and one guy on the riding mower to push it back up the slope. They used gray sand instead of the tan we requested. Now my patio looks dirty. They did not fill all areas with enough sand. When I brought it up to the crew they said they brought the allotted amount of sand. Someone later came out for an inspection, they wouldn't send out a supervisor, and he could see our old tan sand in places and didn't know why they used gray. But it was too late since the sealer was already applied. He couldn't fix places where there wasn't enough sand except the edges where he made a motar and put it in with his fingers but it's kinda messy. He said the sand didn't go into some of the edges because our border wasn't all the way tight to the edge but from the time from the original estimate all the way through the project on the patio, no one ever brought that up as a problem or ever offered to repair it. The guy doing the inspection said their company does that repair. Also, when they put down the sand, their supposed to use a compactor, they did not and the inspector couldn't speak for why our crew did not use it. After they finish the job, they don't call you, they take final payment without your permission if you used a credit card and then ignore your calls. I am stuck with them since I have warranties on my deck and patio and I hope if I have to call them on a warranty issue I won't have an issue but I will not be recommending them. read more

I had a large paver area and multiple paver walkways repaired where I had loose pavers. After they left there were a few that they missed and as time went on others became loose again. I called and they were "happy to come out again"... that's where the trouble started. After numerous phone calls where I was told that weather was complicating things, but I would be on the schedule "next week" I then sent an email which was never answered. I called and called again and was told that messages were being passed on, but I didn't ever receive a return call. I don't know if I am just lucky or those that are happy with the quality of the work don't comment. I wanted to say without a doubt that my recent experience with Nu-Again was extremely satisfying. I had my approximate 300 sq foot patio resanded and resealed. They came out when arranged and kept me advised as to the agreed upon time frame in the interim. The first day they prepped the area and after done they cleaned up and put everything they used away. The second day their second group came by and sanded the area and then sealed the pavers. I wanted to wait a couple of days to write this report to make sure that I would be completely satisfied -- I am. I would have no problem in recommending them to my neighbors. I feel sorry for those who are claiming a poor experience but I am quite satisfied. read more

We had our old deck stained by what the salesman said was a great product. He said they will power wash, sand certain areas and apply two coat system but from what is being scratched up, it looks like they just painted over everything. Hasn't even lasted a year before our dog scratched it up. Nu Again did come out a few times to touch up peeling spots covered under warranty but won't do anything about dog or furniture scratches. If you want your deck to look good but never to be used, go through Nu Again. However, if you plan on using your deck, I would research a better company or better material. read more

The owner seems a bit argumentative and needs a lesson on customer service skills. The only reason I give one star is because the price was the best I found. Along with the quote, I was given an estimate of 2 days to compete the job. It took 6 weeks to finally get them out to my house and to my surprise , the only "work" done was a couple brings being pulled out. The masking tape which I was asked to use as a marker on the bricks that needed leveling was pulled off and littered around my yard. Three days later, I came home to find my steps tore up as well. It say this way for 2 days. After two calls to the office, I was told that they were coming tomorrow to finish..... The stairs that they had pulled off had significant gaps between them, old "glue" that wasn't removed, and uneven sand lines which were then covered with the sealer!! After several calls to the office expressing my dissatisfaction, I was told on at least three occasions that the owner of the company would be out to fix the stairs....NEVER HAPPENED.... I saw an ad in the local paper and decided to give them a call. They responded right away, came out and gave me separate quotes for each project and all of them were fair and reasonable. Their team came out and did a beautiful job as promised. The power cleaning of my deck made a 15 year old deck look like new. The 20 year old wood swing sets had to be stripped of the old covering stain, cleaned and re-painted and they look great. My only complaint would be that when they stripped the old paint from the swing sets they left the strips on the ground for me to pick up. Otherwise they were fantastic. I would recommend this company to others but would suggest that the homeowner be present to tell the workers what their expectations are regarding leaving the area in a "workmanly appropriate condition". read more

Another 1-star review. Not good. I can't comment on their work because I didn't hire them. They did come to provide a quote on doing some paver maintenance. When we had a few questions we sent an email asking for feedback so we had clarification on the work they would do and allow us to make a decision. Our first email was ignored so we sent it again about a week later and received a reply from Nathan saying "Unfortunately, I do not have time for a lengthy email". My wife said "well we don't have time to write them a check then". We wont. We asked similar questions to several other companies that do the same work and were responded to quickly with answers. We engaged Nu-again after review 3 other paint and stain contractors though home advisor and Angie's list. I found Nathan the owner of Nu-again to be very straightforward and honest. We had our newly redesigned deck and railing system built and required that the perimeter and base decking to be be power washed, sanded and stained. Although Nu-again was not the cheapest they delivered. The deck Looks nearly new. We called Nathan back to do some touch up and redo a few areas and it was completed the next day. I was a little hesitant to use Nu-Again due to the reviews on but I ended up using them because of: 1. Reviews on home advisor were good. 2. Better business bureau were good 3. I called another contractor for a quote and they referred me to NU Again because they were overbooked and they refer people to NU again. I figured another business wouldn't refer business to a company that wasn't good. I ended up hiring them and so far glad I did. The process was easy. John came by for a quote and I dealt with Catherine in the office. Everything was a breeze. She scheduled me for week of June 3rd. She called me the night before and everything was complete over 3 days. I will say I didn't deal with the owner and I have brick pavers. My patio had moss growing, was dirty, and had weeds growing in some spots. However once they were done cleaning, sanding, and sealing it definitely looked NEw Again. I just had the service completed last week so if anything changes I'll update my post but as of right now they did a great job. read more

My husband has been the one dealing with our unpleasant experience with nu-again, but there is something they did that doesn't sit well with me. My husband called nu-again this morning (5/23/2022) to see if there could be a resolve to the current issues at hand. He was told by Catherine ( who he previously thought was very kind) , that because my husband made a complaint with the BBB they cannot speak to us and that's where the conversation ended. No more than a few hours later one of their employees is ringing my doorbell ( I get notified at work Via the app). Then My mother who was home with my son said there was a man in the backyard. This employee did not have permission to enter my backyard. Not by my husband via the phone or in person by my mother who was actually in my house( she doesn't answer the door). Why did he feel he had could enter my fully gated backyard after we were told by Catherine we were no longer communicating. They contradicted themselves. They said we were no longer discussing the issue and it was over , yet one of their men come and trespass onto my property. I could continue on with the saga of all things unprofessional that have happened but this one bothers me the most. If you would like to hear our full story my husband would gladly share. I hired NuAgain 3 years ago and they did a great job on my old deck. I was happy with the work. 3 years later, the deck was older and needed painting and repair again. I wondered if my old deck was beyond repair, but the estimator assured me they could improve it. But the power washing crew shredded what was left of my railings. Then NuAgain said they could not repair the damage or go forward with the planned job. They did give me a 50% refund of the $1,300 I paid up-front, but that just means I paid them around $600 to damage my deck beyond repair. I asked for a full refund, but now they've just stopped returning my calls. I knew my deck was in iffy condition, but I was counting on their expertise to let me know if it was worth repairing. I worked with the Nu Again in Batavia. They cleaned and sanded also sealed our brick patio. The bricks looked ok but not what I expected. I have two steps that had stains on them. I called then emailed pictures before and after. I Did not hear anything so after 24 hours I called talked with John the sales rep he did not seem very concerned about how I felt and that I was upset. So days went buy again I heard nothing again. So now I emailed them and was told I was put on for 7/1 so at 3pm they never showed up so I emailed again (because no one ever answer the phone but a service) they inform me that I was on the list for service today and they will contact the crew and get a ETA. I would not give this company a single star if that was allowed. Their communication is awful (Everything runs through the owner and like many other client's he is RUDE and Unprofessional) and the products they use are awful and do not hold up. They ruined my new patio and have not stood up to their work/warranty whatever you want to call it. Kudos to Stefon and his crew - they understood what was going on and knew the project needed to be started over - but when they communicated with Nathan, he ignored them. Then the owner would claim this is the first he is hearing about it when I would call back trying to fine a resolution. I had the owner out to look at the project telling me, "I thought you lost your mind!" and after I filed a complaint with BBB, told me to "Piss Off!" Not a business I would recommend ANYONE hire. Oh yea, they also will just charge your card on file too without notifying you even though the work ws not fully completed because they rushed it at the end of season. And he wonders why I was upset. A price was agreed to back in mid August after Nathan the owner was out to see my deck. I had used them before and they did a nice job... so decided to contract with them again. An Team came to power wash last week for 2-3 hours...and I chose colors from the 60 supplied by the company..Was told ANY color! See photo. I have 10x20 raised deck with a 10x20 pergola attached which is two colors. I asked the guys if I could do all of the railings and spindles one color and the deck floor and posts under another so it would be two colors and wanted the pergola painted same way as it has been....which is two colors. Nathan the owner texted and stated I would have to pay more for additional paint as I was going from dark to light, however the contract states "over 60 colors" to choose from , there is nothing in the agreement about additional charges for light colors or using two colors. I offered to pay a couple of hundred dollars because I wanted two colors on deck portion but I refused to pay more for two colors on pergola as it is two colors now and I stated to Nathan I wanted it painted same way when he gave estimate. Also I refused to pay more for additional paint when they gave me the colors to choose from and the agreement states it is all included. I stated if it was any more than $150-$200 more for labor I would like a refund. Again no response on additional cost! Seeing that they did clean my deck and two guys worked about 2 hours ($75 per hour per person) I feel three hundred was more than reasonable and wanted the rest of my deposit back....well he didn't even offer a new price or the refund, just told me several different times to call his office. Well today I have been given the runaround after the office (that called me Monday)promised the owner would be back to me on Tuesday the 3rd and did did not get back to me till the 4th. I texted the owner on 9/3 for an update and he stated he was too busy to get to it! Today I had to text the owner again, just to be told "call the office they have the information". Tried the office 6 times with no answer and left a message and called the owner who let the call go to vm even though he was calling me a "joke" to work with over texts! Still have not heard from him as to refund so will work with Visa and with my attorney. So do yourself a favor and go with a company that sticks to what they have in the contract. The owner is arrogant and also had to boast that he is a multi-million dollar business via text and I should call his office...even though he has time to text, he couldn't answer my question about my refund. read more

The absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced. They get a 2 star because the quality of work was good, despite their bad customer service. My experience: When the first team came by to clean my deck, I requested they put all of my furniture onto a paved patio at the bottom of the stairs to the deck, which would make my moving the furniture easier, and would also keep it off of my grass. The workers acknowledged my request and put a bench down there, but put everything else on my grass, killing it. I called and left a message for Catherine, who had identified herself as my point of contact with the company. I was looking for information on when the company would be doing my deck, as several nice days had passed and my furniture was still on my lawn. I was told she was on the phone and would call me back shortly. This was at noon. I called back at 1:30, and got the same story. I called again at 4:30 and by now the receptionist sounded upset that I was calling again. The following day (a Tuesday) I called around noon and Catherine answered. She apologized and blamed her assistant for not relating the messages, and noted she prided herself on her own communication skills. Catherine said they'd send someone out to move my furniture for me (even though I could move it myself). Catherine assured me she would call me sometime Wednesday. Deck got done Thursday. On Friday, at 4:56pm I received a phone call from Catherine asking how the deck looked, and ignoring my requests to call me back or fix my grass, which was now dead. I called back immediately and got a voicemail saying they were closed. The following Tuesday I called again, and spoke with Catherine who again apologized, blamed the call center and her assistant, and said she'd speak to the owner about my situation. She said she would set an alarm on her phone for 9am to call me on Wednesday to discuss compensation for my labor of moving my furniture, as well as compensation for my long-seas grass. I called Catherine at noon Wednesday and had to leave a message as she was "on the phone but will call you back shortly". I called twice today (Thursday) and got an answering service, who was upset to hear they're being blamed for Catherine not being able to return a phone call. So far, I'm hearing nothing. The only way I've been able to get in touch with Catherine is by having her answer the main phone. She has dropped the ball now several times, and blamed everyone but herself. My interactions with her have been among the worst I have ever experienced with a business, and despite the good work that was done, I won't be using their services again, and I'll encourage everyone else to go elsewhere until my simple requests are met. I paid $1300, part of which ensured I would only move my furniture once, and I had to move it twice. Part of that fee also should've ensured that the employees respected my request to place my furniture on a concrete pad I had cleared off, so as not to kill my grass. To recap: paid $1300 for a good stain job, but also didn't get all the labor I was promised and I have a large furniture shaped patch of grass in my backyard that is toast after being ignored for a week by a company that said they could do the job in 3-4 days.
