Painted iron gates...no true prep work just a bunch of guys with foam rollers going around in the heat of summer last year. Sloppy.

Bbc Construction - Modern kitchen in Geneva

Exceptional Workmanship on Kitchen Remodel…read more We will start off with "on-time and on-budget". That pretty much says it all, but we are going to give a few details as well. Jack and his team were professional from day one. When we met Jack the first time, he instilled confidence that his work would be top notch and it was, he takes pride in his work. From the design planning and working with his sub-contractor West DuPage Cabinets (shout out to Catherine), to the tear out and rebuild. He hires only very qualified sub-contractors and they work together seamlessly. They all clearly work together often and it provides a cohesiveness of exceptional workmanship. We had a good kitchen, but not completely functional. A pantry that was next to useless, basic house builder cabinets and cracks in drywall due to what appeared to be a lack of attention during framing. Jack and his team, redesigned our kitchen to provide all useable space, correct builder errors and even made a few minor custom changes. Admittedly this started out as a kitchen remodel, and turned into more, with fireplace change to the front and removal of standard mantle, then replace with sleeker contemporary design, and while we're at it, why not paint all the connecting rooms, adding new baseboards too, lol! Yes, these were add-ons, but all approved in advance, and well worth the money spent. Our project was completed in 30 working days, a little over 5 weeks! Timing was everything and all the subs worked together; plumber, electrician, dry wall team, and Mark the painter (otherwise all-round right hand J), they made it happen! By the way, they laid protection on our wood floors and covered anything exposed to avoid dust damage. Every day they took at least 30-60 minutes to sweep and vacuum which reduced overall construction dust. This was very much appreciated and we were impressed. Thank you to everyone who worked on our project, you are all great and most appreciated. And a special thank you to Jack and Mark for their patience and professionalism. We will definitely use BBC Construction again when we are ready for our bathroom remodel.

Excellent contractor for any size job. Jake and, his dad Ed and crew have done several jobs for…read moreme...painting, drywall patching, etc. Today they installed a very tricky large replacement bay window on second story. Execution was perfect, window was ordered to specs and installed in one day. Replacement trim was carefully thought out, primed and ready to paint. This project was bid correctly and cost exactly as promised. These guys are very detail oriented, keep job-site neat and cleanup immaculate. Reiner Construction is not least expensive but quality of workmanship is worth it, no surprises and highly dependable. Thank you Jake...Ed and Erik. Well done!

Even though I…read moreprovided blue prints to them Jake insisted on coming out to the property to look at the scope of the project so that he could give me the best estimate of the time cost and resources the job would require. Weather was not on our side throughout the project but his crew labored on, despite the sometimes horrible conditions the crew was always polite and in good spirits. Despite the delays caused by mother nature and the extra time the job took because of them the price of the job didn't change. Daily Jake explained to me what was going on, showed me the progress and explained to me what they were doing and why, I was happy they didn't cut corners and made an extra effort to give me the best work / product possible. They were also extremely conservative with materials, making sure to minimize waste and thus minimize cost, something I haven't seen from contractors I've worked with in the past. In the end I felt like Reiner Construction built my home like they were building it for one of their own family members, the quality, attention to detail and experience was unmatched. I would recommend them to anyone, and will definitely be hiring them again in the spring for my next project their work and work ethic is completely inline with their pricing, they weren't the cheapest bid I got on the job, but I am certain I would not have gotten the quality and peace of mind had I not gone with them. You get what you pay for, and in this case I couldn't be happier.

Glen Galis Concrete Contractor - Great job

Glen Galis Concrete Contractor

Before the work…read morebegan, it was very dangerous especially in the winter only having two steps to the front door. This was not even code in Kane County. Glen's installers were very meticulous and timely in getting the work done this past spring. I am constantly getting compliments from neighbors !

I had Glen quote me on fixing my concrete issues. He only offered me the option of removing and…read morereplacing my entire front concrete porch that has two cracks in it --one was jagged -- so did not look good ($5500). Another company came out, drilled down the uneven concrete and coated the cracks with matching concrete for $100. Is this a lifetime fix? No, cracks do re-open but even brand new concrete can crack over time. Then Glen said to repair walkway was $2500 (completely take up and replace so it sits at higher angle to front patio so the step up to the front concrete porch is not so high up. Another company put in a form and built me a concrete step that makes it possible to not replace the walkway, and then they filled in concrete imperfections and cracks in the sidewalk and left me extra concrete color, if it re-opens. My garage needed a new step (replace old wood one with concrete) and he quoted me $225.00 which is reasonable, and my side step had sunk and he quoted me $525 to replace it. The other company simply added a step to the side concrete, anchored the new form to the house, recoated original step and charged me $200. Their cost on the garage step was similar but they made it extra wide, so we can fully step out on it. I guess what I'm saying is there is more than one way to fix concrete, and Glen only does it the expensive way. If you have a large budget (I would have had to allot $8000.00), then yes, go for it. I also had concerns that all the drilling of the front patio would affect cracks in basement wall on that side and re-open them and queried Glen re that in the email (no response). Glen does not respond well (if at all) to emails, so remember to call. I think that he does great work, but remember it's only replacement work. He's not going to offer you any kind of "fixing" it work. I've learned through watching the other mason work, that concrete is fixable, also, by a home owner. It's fascinating watching him mix colours to match whatever imperfection needs patching. I now have fixed some low places and cracks in my garage floor myself!!

Some were overpriced. Another was using pressure tactics while Beyond Basements looked over the situation. David of Beyond Basements cuts to the chase. Provided measurements and an estimate based on our input and requests. We didn't need the more upscale basement system, but framing and drywall along with the floor installation and a half wall by the stairs. Ceiling framed and drywalled (including access points). Probably the most custom work were two barn doors, one to reach the crawlspace and another to utility area. David made us aware of what we needed to pick out and gave us a timeline to help him and his crew have those materials to fit both of our schedules. He was present for a majority of the work if not doing it hands on himself. The best thing about working with David is his energy and pride about his work. He'll make it right. Beyond that you always knew where he stood. He keeps the lines of communication open. He always let us know when he was on his way and responded to any of our inquiries. He is always approachable, and his pricing was fair and rational. He definitely has a knack for quickly thinking and conveying the scope of all tasks related to the project. Fast-forward to this past autumn, we had a plumbing issue that didn't damage any of the finished work however a drainage pipe was beneath the new basement floor. We reached back out to David and built a plan for how to pull up the flooring to enable us to work with plumber and concrete cutting in order to replace the faulty pipe. A problem of this nature, communication is key given he had frontend work taking up floor, along with backend floor install, reinstalling doors and touching up areas that were damaged in the concrete dig and plumbing process. On top of that, he came up with a cosmetically creative way for an access to plumbing. He's skilled, detailed, and understands a lot of trades, covering many aspects of the basement install. He was understanding of our situation and needs. It's just great to come across someone with a passion and pride for their work that's collaborative and willing to share insights, designs, and construction expertise. Thank you David!!
