    Sausage slice
    Mark M.

Stopped in for a quick lunch. Neat spot on the corner of 19th. Old school vibes inside with bleacher seats and tables/chairs. Very friendly service. Ordered a slice of sausage and a bottle of coke to go. Couldn't believe how thin and crispy the dough was. Sausage was housemade with great flavor. Tangy sauce and oregano topping. What more can you ask for. Will be back for sure!

Ordered the longanisa giardinera pizza for take out The servers on the phone were friendly and gave me a call back after the 20-30 min it took for my pizza to bake This pizza was so addicting to eat due to the balance of savoriness from the longanisa and the acidity from the giardinera which kept it from being overly rich I'd recommend coming with friends and dining in since there's plenty of seating to try it fresh out of the oven

Didn't plan to go. Wasn't really hungry. But we walked by and the aroma drew us in. We thought, sure, let's try a slice. This place was on the list of places to try anyway. We were a little nervous about paying $8 for a slice of pepperoni. The super friendly service and the fact that it wasn't just a pre-cut slice sitting on the heat kept us hopeful. After about 10 minutes, we were handed a quarter of a 14 inch pizza cut into five tavern style squares. We thought, "This is too much! We're not even hungry!" And then we devoured it. So much great pepperoni. Spicy seasoning. That Chicago style, super-thin crust. Ugh. So good. This is the kind of pizza that makes me consider moving to an entirely new neighborhood just to be able to get it more easily.

If you're looking to try a new pizza here's your spot. Tried the hot pep with ricotta and hot honey 10/10. Staff is great food came out pretty fast.

Went here with coworkers recently and we all loved the Longanisa and Giardiniera Tavern Pizza! We shared a 16" pizza between five people, which was a pretty good size for us. The space is small with limited indoor seating, so it can fill up quickly. Just a heads up -- they're closed on Mondays and

YUM!!! I've have heard such good things about this pizza.. and I'm so glad we finally ordered. We called ahead for pick up yesterday and it was so easy! We order a 16" tavern style pizza, half Hot Pep and half Longanisa and giardinera. It was DELISH! It's huge too. I'd say it's perfect for 3-4 people. For my husband and I, we have left overs now for a few days. The hot pep has such a great flavor, and actually not too spicy. You really taste the hot honey and pepperoni is so crisp! And make sure to have them add the dollops of ricotta! And I LOVE longanisa anything, so you already know I loved that half too. I also got a little container of ube horchata ice cream. Mmmm! I saw a little sign by the register for it as I was checking out, so I had to get one! The cafe itself isn't too big. I didn't quite get a good look at the seating, but there's a hand full of tables. The staff is super nice. And the area around is very neighborhoody and semi easy parking.

Novel Pizza Cafe delivers top-tier Chicago tavern-style pizza with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The sauce is rich and robust, layered over a perfectly cooked crust. The atmosphere feels distinctly Chicago--warm, lively, and inviting. Easily one of the city's standout pizza spots and well worth a visit.

a slice is a quarter of a pizza and it was very good. small shop so when busy, it's probably good to get the slices to go. there's a park nearby!

Great location close to the National Museum of Mexican Art. (I know, you might rather get Mexican food after visiting the museum. I did stop for an elote cup from a street vendor on the way from the museum to Novel, that was great!) Cute place, indoor and outdoor seating. Friendly and helpful staff. I love that they offer slices, which is not usually a thing for Chicago tavern style. Novel figured it out: a "slice" is a quarter of a pizza! Which is quite a nice portion for one. You could even split it if you're not too hungry. This was my first Chicago tavern-style pizza, so I can't compare it to anything. The crust was charred on the bottom but it was soft and flexible -- I was expecting crispy and cracker-like. Tasted good. I don't prefer it to New York style, but it's something I would try again.

Thin crust pizza of my dreams! I'm glad I finally made a 30 minute trek to pick up my first Novel Gremski pizza! It is so good fresh outta their oven. They have seating inside their cafe so I recommend having it there. I had to zap it in my oven at home to get it back to melty cheese! The LONGANISA & GIARDINIERA is my favorite, well it's all I got and I'll keep coming back for it! The sweet Filipino sausage pairs so well with the hot giard! Cool interior design with basketball themed! This is going to be my go to thin crust going forward and I can't wait to try the other gremski pizzas. Nice to see a Pinoy making it big in the pizza game!

    Hot pep with ricotta

I tried this for the first time yesterday and it was amazing! You cannot order online or phone in an order so you have to walk in to order. I ordered the hot pepperoni with ricotta and a side of fries. The inside is very roomy. It has a football feel to it complete with bleacher seating and a scoreboard. The pizza is so delicious! It is now in my top 3. I love how cracker thin it is. The honey pairs so well with the salty pepperoni. I will definitely be back to try their other pizza!

Tavern style hot pep with ricotta
    Johnfavour N.

Novel Pizza does a phenomenal tavern style hot pep with ricotta! Each slice was carefully designed with a perfect dollop of ricotta. The pepperoni are high quality and are the perfect cup shape showing that it's both crispy and has the capacity to hold copious amounts of Mike's Hot Honey. The dough has a perfect consistency where it's thick enough for structural stability (no toppings sliding off) but thin enough for a satisfying crunch. They air fry/bake really nicely at home, just about 370F for 5 mins in the air fryer is perfect. Few things to note going in: right now you need to place the order in person although they are working on online ordering. When I placed an order around noon on a weekend, there was an estimated wait of an hour but it was ready in 40 minutes! There's some street parking nearby but you can also park in the parking lot of the Museum of Mexican Art which is only $3 an hour! The museum is also free to check out, which is what I did while waiting for the order! Inside there were some tables set up in case you wanted to sit down to eat. It wasn't super populated inside so there were plenty of seats open. This pizza is worth the wait and I highly recommend trying out their tavern style pizza!

This place deserves a man oh man. This pizza joint is one of those places that makes you happy to order their food... I was legit smiling as I was taking a bite of the famous half & half pizza. I just needed to add ricotta cheese on it & it would've been a hands down beautiful experience. Amazing vibes overall. I literally have no complaints... we waited 45 minutes for the pizza and it was totally worth it. We went to Costco in the meantime. The price was ehhh, but the price of everything now a days is horrible so it's whatever unfortunately. If you have never been to Pizza Novel... you are tremendously missing out. I highly recommend. It was mid-afternoon when we visited and I'd gone online to make a reservation prior to our visit, but that wasn't really necessary. We were greeted warmly by the hostess and shown to a booth in the back room...far away from the cold draft of the front door. Our server came over to take our drink orders right away and we ordered a Caesar salad to share. I found it odd that their Caesar comes with tomatoes, but it must be a Chicago thing because I saw that on the menu of another pizzeria that we visited while in town. The salad was delicious and we enjoyed every bite of it. We also ordered a small pepperoni pie (deep dish) and were surprised at just how small it was. It was almost like a personal size...but let me tell you, the personal size is tiny! One slice of the small pie nearly took up the space of the entire personal sized pie that we took home with us. While in-store, I signed up for their rewards program and got a coupon for a free personal sized pie, with some stipulations. It was to-go only and you had to spend at least $10, but our dine-in order could not count towards that total. It had to be processed as a separate transaction. That was no problem for us since we were headed back to our hotel and had a full kitchen there, we decided to order wings along with our free baby-sized pie to-go. The wings were phenomenal. Top tier. A+. Highly recommend! I actually preferred the sausage pie that we took home over the pepperoni pie, and that's not usually my vibe. I think something about the grease in the sausage lends itself to the moisture of the pie. The pepperoni pie was a little dry. Overall, we loved the atmosphere and the service, so we would definitely come back again in the future.
