Every time I walk into this shop (which is fairly often) I'm always blown away by the custom work they have going on and how excited the guys are about what they're working on. What makes me different from most folks that go to this shop is I'm a Harley guy. I can say without question that Chris and Josh are comfortable and confident working on any make of motorcycle. I trusted them to work on my Sportster and I trust them now to work on my Road King. When you drop your bike off for work you'll always have a good idea on what it's going to cost. These guys are great at quoting an estimate and follow through with great communication should they discover something else that might need attention. They'll never do any work without finding out if you actually want it done. These are stand up honest guys doing something that they love to do. Just stop by the shop sometime and have a conversation with these guys. If their genuine enthusiasm, passion and positive attitudes don't win you over....you should probably find another shop.

My catalytic converter was replaced at Leon in Feb 2025 at 160,318 miles. It started to leak in April 2026 at 172,001 miles. It was still under warranty. Shippee Auto flagged the leak and said I should go back to Leon to have it replaced. Leon checked the leak on 5/15/26, confirmed it was coming from the other catalytic converter (the much less expensive one), and wrote me an estimate for work I did not need. I went back to Shippee's for something else, and they confirmed for a second time that the leak is coming from the catalytic converter Leon replaced. Anita Wilson, Consumer Protection Coordinator at the Northwestern District Attorney's Office, agreed to take the case. Ben, the owner of Leon L Sirum Co Inc, spoke to Anita on August 12th. He said he would work with me on the warranty, but I would have to find a way to get the part to him. The problem is I live 5 hours away now, and I already made the trip for him to tell me the leak wasn't in the part he replaced. Ben said the reason I have to transport the part is the negative reviews I posted about his business. He stated to Ms. Wilson that he personally looked at my vehicle and that he did not do anything wrong. If he did not do anything wrong, why would he be willing to work with me on the warranty of a part he claims he did not replace? Instead of doing the right thing, he tried to leverage the removal of my negative review to get me to transport the part to his shop. I agreed to remove the review after the issue was settled, and not before. That was not good enough for Ben. Instead, he wanted me to transport the part myself or remove the negative reviews without any guarantees that the warranty would cover the cost of the work.

I brought in my car for repairs, and I was concerned that the damage done would be astronomical…read more I'm grateful to say that the experts and staff at College Street Motors are an experienced and wise team, because my fears delayed me from getting the new tires I needed. I had driven on a flat, and if you're unaware, this can rapidly degrade the quality of your drive. You can wear a CB joint, your axel, or your rotor, if I recall, and too much wear on these can do immense damage to your car's future. I had replaced two of my tires and still felt a wobble. How could it be the tires, I thought? This is why College Street Motors' experience comes into play. The car might as well be a multi-piece orchestra, with brake drums, piston percussion, and wheel woodwinds. I don't intend to go over the top with this metaphor, because it sounds like a bunch of noise and shaking for me. The mechanic left me a very detailed note, describing how there was nothing more discernible than the loud noise coming from the tires I had yet to replace. No wobbling due to damage to other parts of the car. Plus, I believe they warranty their work, maybe I'm just thinking of my AAA membership. After my tires were replaced, I was relieved at how right they were. As internal combustion engine drivetrain cars are complex, so are electrical cars in their own way. It's a world I have yet to get into, or may never dig deep enough to really gain a foothold of experience. Luckily, there're mechanics just down the street for me that took only a bit of time to diagnose the problem, find a tire match for the ones I had just gotten new, and then both install and balance. I bet their experience pays dividends to other customers, too, who are hoping to make sense of a new problem with little labor and diagnostics. Here is my original review: "I have used Cichy's twice before for routine work like changing trailer tires, and my MIL used them for a muffler replacement. Both times, during the COVID pandemic. The service and cost was HORRENDOUS. In fact, it took them a month and constant prodding to get the tires done. So when my MIL needed a new gas filter I was hesitant to use Cichy's but figured I'd give him one more shot. I called ahead for an estimate, gave the car make model and year and part needed and got an approximate cost of $45-$50. My MIL was there for two hours because they didn't have the part after saying they'd order it ahead. And they charged her $108 for a 15 minute filter change. " Not sure who quoted that original price but in the end the owner gave my MIL a free repair, which was not requested, but was much appreciated.

John didn't take advantage of this at all and completely fixed the issue by replacing two electrical cables. I only wish that they were located closer to me so that it's easier when I needed to come back a few times to debug problems. Nonetheless, I'd still spend the extra one hour round trip to drive here instead of going to the mechanics who are closer, including one that has a suspicious 5-star rating with 100+ reviews.

All in all, I would tell international travelers, locals, students, and people of all ages and walks of life to go here. I'm certain they'll make you feel welcome and answer your questions, even in the bitter cold. Again, for full service gas, the price is low so mind to tip your attendant, 10% is a good amount and fits the current era we live in.
