I brought my 2015 Street Bob to Nova Motorcycles to replace a busted wheel bearing. When they…read morere-installed the rear wheel they failed to replace the bolts, loctite them, or bother to torque them down correctly. As a result, they worked themselves loose and eventually caught on my swingarm which caused my rear wheel to unexpectedly lock up at 35/40mph. I luckily did not dump my bike as I fishtailed to a stop but am even more fortunate that this did not happen while I was on the highway, in traffic, or in the middle of a corner. This reckless neglect easily could have cost me my life. It also ruined the new wheel they had just installed, destroyed the sprocket and belt, dented the belt guard, and damaged the swingarm. Lastly, it cost me over half of the month of September on my bike while they did the repairs. After owning up to their neglect they agreed to fix the bike but would not pay to have another mechanic look at it to get a second opinion or do the repair for me. So I was stuck having the same people who could have killed me doing the repair on their own incompetent work. As you can imagine, this makes it very difficult to have much confidence in the safety of my own bike and has put a real damper on riding. Throughout the entire ordeal they acted with indifference and treated me like I was being a nuisance. They tried to reuse the same damaged swingarm even though I made it perfectly clear that everything damaged due to their neglect needed to be replaced. I didn't realize until I got the bike home that they didn't even replace the dented belt guard. When I requested the name of the mechanic for my report to the AGO they outright refused to give it to me. The mystery mechanic, their "Harley guy" still had his job when I went to pick up my bike. As I left they actually had the nerve to tell me not to come back. Disgraceful. For your own safety, do not give Nova Motorcycles your business.

After making my way through the voicemail, I reached a friendly gentleman in parts. He informed me that "we almost certainly have that battery in stock; let me check," and put me on hold. I waited patiently for about 6-7 minutes, then someone else picked up. The subsequent conversation, which took place about twenty minutes ago, was pretty short, so I'll reproduce it in full: Employee: Who are you holding for? Me: I was speaking with someone in parts; he's looking into availability on a battery for me. Employee: Well, he put you on hold because we got so many people here it's going to be about 45 minutes before he can look up your part. So you can keep holding or you can call back -- it's your choice. Me: Okay, so should I just wait about 45 mins and call back? Employee: [In a snarky/patronizing/"problem employee"/passive aggressive voice] You want to wait on hold for 45 minutes? Me: No... Employee: Well then call back. [Immediately slams receiver down on me.] Now let me just mention a few things. I'm easy-going and, as a local business owner myself, I certainly don't like to badmouth a Northampton retailer, especially during these hard times. And I also understand that a workplace can be frustrating when things are piling up. So I would have been very understanding if the second guy who picked up had said something simple like "Hi, we're really backed up. Can you call back later?" Or anything of a similar tenor. Instead, this person decided it would be more appropriate to present me with what amounted to a false choice, then hit me with a nasty and patronizing tone when I -- unaware that he was just looking for an opportunity to unload his attitude on an unsuspecting customer -- simply sought some clarification as to what he wanted me to do. To recap: I was just looking for a battery. I was going to give them my business. This was utterly uncalled for. To the owner of this business, I would suggest that this employee needs a serious talking to.

Had no choice but to find the money to get my bike back out of hock because you would not release the bike till I paid for it in full. So After having had work done with new valves new cam lifters pushrods cylinders bored out 11,000 miles later pushrod let go. Brought it back to him for him to look at told me he didn't know what was wrong but was going to cost A minimum of $2000 to repair. I asked him how could you tell me how much it's going to cost when you don't even know what is wrong. Just looking for quick cash? What was really upsetting is that he wouldn't stand by his work after 11,000 miles.

There isn't much I can say about Vintage Steele that hasn't been said already. It's a great shop…read morethat's owned and operated by great guys. Every time I walk into this shop (which is fairly often) I'm always blown away by the custom work they have going on and how excited the guys are about what they're working on. What makes me different from most folks that go to this shop is I'm a Harley guy. I can say without question that Chris and Josh are comfortable and confident working on any make of motorcycle. I trusted them to work on my Sportster and I trust them now to work on my Road King. When you drop your bike off for work you'll always have a good idea on what it's going to cost. These guys are great at quoting an estimate and follow through with great communication should they discover something else that might need attention. They'll never do any work without finding out if you actually want it done. These are stand up honest guys doing something that they love to do. Just stop by the shop sometime and have a conversation with these guys. If their genuine enthusiasm, passion and positive attitudes don't win you over....you should probably find another shop.
