This place is great and very accurate. I would very much like to give them 5 stars but I really feel like they could work on their communication and customer service. The woman who works there is quite grumpy and is bothered when you ask her when your car will be ready. Trying to plan your day or a ride to pick up your vehicle is really frustrating. Getting info on cost so you can prepare for your pickup is also drama. I just wish they were kinder. Like a hello, goodbye, or thanks for your business or something is usually a good choice. I will probably start looking for another mechanic because I don't enjoy feeling like my business is a pain in the ass. read more

Matt appeared to be pretty amazing to deal with, originally emailed him about my crisis mode for an All wheel drive or a 4X4 to get me to work. He gave me $75.00 trade-in for my California 1991 Honda Accord 180,000?, miles & told me he was only able to sell it @ auction for $50.00. Two weeks.....after I bought the truck the check engine light came on permanently & I contacted Matt for assistance. I had to take two days of my time to bring it to his shop to attempt to determine what was the issue. They were unable to assist me (but tried) and stated the light doesn't​ hurt anything and won't effect me getting a new sticker next year and only if it starts blinking do I need to be concerned....OK, SERIOUSLY? Recently, the truck started pulling to the left pretty badly and I was concerned & brought it to Brown's motor. They discovered a serious safety issue on one tire requiring immediate repair before they would even continue with the alignment. My repair bill went from $120.00+ to $750.00+..... My experience so far with the purchase of this truck from Matt (only owning it for 4 months!!!!) has not been very comforting​ about trust & honesty for a safe car. Have bought 3 cars there for my family in the past ten years. 2 are still on the road and one was totaled at an advanced age (while parked and empty-luckily). If I told Matt I needed a car, he would find the exact thing I said I was looking for and then, when he found it, offer it to me at a reasonable price. The cars were exactly as he sold them to be. If there were minor problems, they have always handled them with no hassle. Over the life of the cars they kept them running well for us and the prices of the maintenance and repairs were fair and the service was professional. All of the service people with whom I ever interacted were interested and attentive. Since moving out of the area, I'm motivated to write this review as I now look for places to to do my auto business locally. read more

Simply put - they are easy to work with, fair, and reliable. I trust them and have been taking cars there for several years. Update - I had a problem with my bumper cover and it would've cost $600+ for a new bumper cover through a body shop. Cherry Rum screwed in the bumper cover which is all I needed. It cost $43. Knowledgeable, skilled, friendly, and honest: Cherry Rum Automotive hits on all cylinders! Unlike a factory dealership, they are not bound by the cookie-cutter approach to car repair. My first encounter with this shop was when I transferred a car to MA from out of state. I couldn't remove the old license plates due to rusty screws. Cherry Rum loosened and replaced the screws while I waited, for no charge. Then I had a major brake problem on my 2005 Prius, which a Toyota dealer said would cost over $2,000 to repair...this, after spending $1,000 at the dealer on the same problem, with no resolution. Cherry Rum identified the REAL problem, which cost $120 to fix. Car is good as new now. In addition to their expertise, they communicate well. Next time I have a car issue, large or small, Cherry Rum Automotive will be my first call. read more

I was not happy with my interactions with this company. I needed help finding a car long-distance. Matt seemed to have my dream car, but when my mechanic looked at it, he found that it was in really bad shape. Without giving me a choice, Matt then sold it wholesale - when I asked him afterward to please split the cost of having an outside mechanic look at it (since it was this mechanic's input that led him to sell it on), he refused, leaving me to pay for information he should have had about his own car in the first place. They are probably nice guys, but not the best used car dealers I've come across - I'd stick with Gauthier Automotive or Greenfield Imports. read more

Auto repair: Ted never oversells, and is very matter-of -fact about what is best, needed, or will get you by. Work is always done well, and at a fair price. I commute a lot and have been using them for about 10 years now. If I break down 60 miles from home (and I have), it gets towed to Cherry Rum and repaired there. My last 2 vehicles were retired with over 250K miles, and my current one is over 220K now; I am very happy with the service they provide. read more

Despite the usual good reviews for this place, I have a very different experience. My first time there was when my car was towed there after a fire truck driving in front of me dropped a piece of equipment onto the road which tore up the oil pan on my car. Cherry Rum replaced the oil pan but the oil light always stayed on because they put a pan from a different year on my car. They would not replace it with the correct one and instead de=activated the oil light. Several years later, I took my Ford Escort there to have a tie rod replaced. When I called to see if the car was ready, the person who answered the phone said, "oh, the car that needed a timing belt?". ( I had noticed that there was an identical car to mine in their repair lot.) I replied, "no, my car just needed a tie rod and an oil change". When I went to pick up my car, I was presented with a bill for a timing belt. When I said that was not what I wanted, they refused to adjust the price or even give me my car keys until I paid for the belt, as they said I would need one soon anyway, (My car was 20,000 miles from needing one). They would not even let me pay half of the bill and leave with the car: I had to have a friend come and pay the other half so I could have my car. Yes, I can almost hear people say, call a lawyer, etc., but at this time I had just had two deaths in my immediate family, and my husband of 17 years had just walked out and I was forced to hire an attorney who was billing me $25,000 for his work. I just didn't have the emotional energy or the extra money to fight this. I just needed my car. I am not a "serial complainer ", and most people seem to like this place, but I unfortunately had a very poor experience with them. read more
