Did the snowcat thing with the entire family (including a 6 mo old baby and his octogenarian grandmother.) We had a great time! There were some delays getting started. But once we were under way, it was a slow, fun ride into the snowy mountains. It was just our family. No one else had signed up for the last ride of the day. We had the snowcat to ourselves. The tour guide was personable. The views were fantastic. It was fun! And when we were finished, we procured some of the best hot chocolate we'd ever had. Nova has snow mobiles and other cool, mountainous activities. And they appeared to have warm-weather options, too. (Fishing trips and hiking and stuff.) Just good fun. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. read more

10-16-2020. Had a spectacular Jeep tour today of Colorado Eagle County back country courtesy of NOVA tours and our super guide Jon Towler. Picked us up at our Vail hotel exactly on time. Beautiful mountain range and valley/gorge scenery up to nearly 12,000 feet with just the right amount of knowledgable local historical commentary and flora/fauna info. Tour punctuated with wonderfully selected stops for photos of grand vistas and close ups at ice cold streams. Highly recommend NOVA and Jon. read more

My family went to Beaver Creek for a few days over New Years 2019. Kids ages 13, 14 and 18 we did the all day Top of the Rockies snowmobile tour and it was AWESOME!!! Our guide was fun, the snowmobiles were new and powerful with all the bells and whistles, the scenery and trails were unbelievable. We put the two younger kids on the back of the two person sleds that my wife and I drove and our 18 year old drove her own. Don't let the handful of negative reviews on here deter you from booking with Nova Guides. Our hotel concierge booked a last minute half day snow mobile tour for us. Our guide picked us up from our hotel in Avon promptly on time, probably even five minutes early. It was about a 20-30 minute ride out to their location. Upon arrival we were greeted and given a quick safety talk. They provide snow suits and boots, with goggles for a $5 fee. We quickly got dressed and headed out. The snowmobiles were brand new, pristine machines. It was a little light on snow at first, but once we got into the mountains it was absolutely beautiful. Our tour guide, Bryce, was amazing. He was knowledgable, friendly and gave us instructions without being bossy or demanding. We followed our tour with an included lunch that was delicious. Every staff member I met was great. Honestly one of the coolest experiences I've had while me and my girlfriend stayed in Colorado, we got to go through the mountain, got an amazing spot to take pictures and got picked up and dropped off from our hotel. Guide decided to take us to trail he wasn't familiar with, got us all stuck down the hill everyone in Our group got stuck or flipped there snowmobile- guide didn't call for help until after 2 hours in then help arrived we were in snow for approximately 2 hours or more while it's snowing. (our group left the base station at 2pm got back at 9pm) Worst experience ever not to mention guide cussed everyone out for making his job harder it felt like life threatening situation at the time and still scares me how bad it was, figure I should share my experience here giving heads up to however going there next we were offered free food after we got back. they didn't have enough people to tow our snowmobile back to the main station we were out in the dark very low visibility Giving one star for there service and how they handled emergency situation. read more

Machines are no older than 2 years old, where they rotate out 75 machines each year, of their 150 sled fleet! You also do not need to hall the sleds to the trails, like other snowmobile rentals (who then charge you a truck rental fee), you drive right off the property! They have all the gear, you could come in flip flops and shorts - and you'll come out looking like a pro! Outstanding service - Spoon was our guide and he was amazing! read more

Everything was fine. Snowmobiled were new, and staff friendly. The reason I'm giving them a 4 is because they refused to fill up our tanks. We had a group of 8 and paid close too 400$ per sled for a whole day of snowmobiling. We came to refill our tanks around 2pm and the rep told us they don't have gas. Interesting because an hour later when we returned we saw the employees filling up sleds. Long story short we felt like they didn't want us to use their machines as we wanted. They are limiting 1 full tank per day to save on the wear and tear of their machines which is BS. You guys are better than that!! read more

Went out for a 3 hour unguided ride. Great decent sized trails. Some nice groomed straightaways where you can just rip it. When you get to the parking area near the top you'll see some trails that go down to a nice play area. Could have used at least another hour out there. Next time I would consider at least a 4 hour rental. read more

My 17 year old was the driver and I was the passenger, I was nervous at first, but he did a fabulous job maneuvering thru the mountain. My husband drove my 10 year old daughter and she loved it! Our family decided to take a 4 hour unguided tour with this company which was supposed to start at 1pm. They said to get there early for check in so we arrived 40 min early. Either they were understaffed or unorganized we didn't get our helmets or a few other things we rented to go outside till after 1pm. Once we finished the safety meeting and finally ready to ride is was 1:45 and basically we lost 45 min of riding time into our 4 hour rental. So we started up one path which was awesome and the scenery was amazing. Well my wife decided to follow some other guys that went down these trails which was off the 16ft minimum road area they describe through the safety speech. Well she got stuck and it was a ways down off the path of course. She hasn't been feeling to well but she didn't want to ruin her vacation by staying at the house we rented so she came out anyway. So I didn't want her stuck in the snow I tried to get down there to dig her machine out and I was riding a double machine which ended up getting stuck as well. Oh well shit happens and if she was feeling better we could have both been able to get them unstuck but she couldn't do much. Well one of our party went back down to get some help and the owner was really rude to him and before he sent anyone told them just wait a while and let them burn up their riding time. Who cares about safety or concern the owner was more concerned about teaching people lessons and leaving them stranded. So after about an hour the 2 arrogant employees arrive trying to mock us and make fun of us for not riding there junk equipment right. They really made a bad situation worse we know we shouldn't have went off the big path but she was just following someone else and really started feeling worse sitting in the snow for so long. I really tried to keep my cool as those 2 guys just kept talking crap. Well after they got ours to the top I was going to wait for them to come back up because I had enough of their shit and to the point of teaching them a little respect. Well as we waited someone stopped up where we were and was screaming for help someone rolled their snowmobile off the side further up the hill. Those two guys just laughed and said we will check it out in a little while with no concern for injury or someone's health. Then they just sat down with their machines laughing and making jokes for at least another 10 min while I was waiting for them so we decided to try and enjoy our last hour of riding. It took those guys 30 min to get us out of our situation so they billed us for 2 hours. Guess they are hurting for money and think that's funny but I knew they needed the money more than us. Word of advice to the owners. You know the business your in and know these situations will come up every day. If you don't like it close your business don't mock your customers. Def will never go back to this place and if you want to go on a guided very slow paced trip to look at the scenery this place might be ok. But read a few other reviews, you could potentially have a horrible time since management only cares about the money not your safety. read more

Excellent day of snowmobiling. Check-in was easy and friendly, paperwork was as breeze and everyone is so wonderful and helpful. They give a great demonstration on how to use the snowmobiles and constantly evaluate you while riding to help determine where the most comfortable and safe rides will be. Our guide for the tour was Will Taylor and he knew great history of the area and made our ride super fun and safe! After 4 hours in the cold, it was the BEST to learn there's also a lunch counter with pretty excellent food too. I'd highly recommend using NovaGuides for snowmobile tours and hope I get to go back in the summer for some fly-fishing or ATV adventures! What a great group. read more

My daughter and I chose this place for snowmobiling on our trip. We had a great time on the trails but when we returned the staff said my vehicle was damaged and unsafe to use. They let me ride this snowmobile while it was unsafe and didn't inform me. The owner, Steve, yelled at my daughter in front of everyone, wanting to settle it calmly, he raised his voice and questioned my parenting skills. He is very unprofessional and cares about the money more than the guests. Should have checked the reviews first- not the first one to be scammed from this business! read more

This was the best experience! The employees and guides were so nice and professional. But also very down to earth and funny! We had Spoon as our tour guide and he was GREAT. Shortly after leaving we realized my 15 yr old daughter was NOT comfortable with driving a snowmobile alone. Spoon was so understanding and helpful to get my family of 5 situated and comfortable for the remainder of the trip!! The place itself is so warm and cozy. They have a few sweet dogs wondering around making new "friends" and the food was great!!! They also took pictures which we were able to purchase for keep sake memories! All in all. I do not ski or snowboard, so taking a trip to Vail is very out of my usual comfort zone of cities and dive bars. However, I do love riding four wheelers and motorized sports, so I figured snowmobiling would be something I'd be into. So we booked a tour with Nova Guides for their Top of the Rockies half-day tour in the afternoon. I booked that one because it wasn't the high performance one (none of us had been on a snowmobile before) and it wasn't the super easy one where all the kids can drive (don't need to take a kid out accidentally). We got picked up at a designated bus stop location and they drove us up to their base. It was way the fuck up a mountain and the drive up there was freaking me out enough! But the views were lovely so that was cool. Once we got there, they got down to the safety information. People that needed snow suits and boots could put them on. I was prepared but did use one of their helmets. Once everyone was geared up, we went outside and got on our snowmobiles and got the spiel on how to use it. The BF and I had a double rider snowmobile as did another couple we were with. The rest were on smaller, single rider snowmobiles. Once all of this was explained and done we took off in a single file on our snowmobile adventure. We got up to about 11,500 ft and saw the Continental Divide and some awesome views from way up top in the middle of nowhere. We got to see some of the old Camp Hale where the army trained for the cold conditions in WWII. Basically stuff you just aren't going to get to see. It is balls out cold up there but the handlebars, gas lever, and the handles for the back rider are all heated and so are the seats, so it isn't as bad as you think. (Although for the last hour or so it was windy and snowing and then it got pretty cold...but my hands and ass were toasty...) There are a few opportunities to get it going pretty fast too so that's fun...if you can hang on! Also, there was even a public bathroom out there at one part so if you've been hydrating then you can have a pit stop that isn't behind a tree. There are a couple of things I wish I would have known beforehand though, so I will impart my wisdom here for you so that you can plan accordingly. - the double rider snowmobile is bigger, more unwieldy, and harder to turn. Also, whoever is on the back will damn near get bounced off the thing when you go over all the rough, bumpy terrain. I had a hard time hanging on at some points...and you can't stand up when you are on the back like you can in the front as the handlebars you are holding on to are too far down. Basically my arms were sore for days after this because I had to hang on for dear life. When I drove, the BF said the same thing about feeling like he was going to come off the back. Next time we will do SINGLE RIDER ones to avoid this. Or perhaps I just didn't know what I was doing which could most definitely be the case. - this tour is not hard, per se, but for us beginners there were a few instances where we were kind of scared. There was one steep hill in particular that I was for sure was going to be a problem. The guide warned us and told us how to brake - glide - brake - glide down it, but that fucker was steep and someone had stopped in the middle of the hill in front of us that we had to avoid...it was definitely scary! Probably not for seasoned snowmobilers but for us...HOLY SHIT. But it was also exciting so there's that. Next time I might have started with the lesser, wussy tour and then went on this one afterwards. - basically, this was harder to me than four wheelers given the large nature of the snowmobile and how it slides/glides rather than drives. I thought I would be much better at it because I am experienced with four wheelers but it wasn't that similar. Just something to note. After the tour the guy took us back to town and even dropped us off at our house rather than at the bus stop which was very lovely since it was a hoof to the house! I definitely recommend Nova guides for snowmobiling tours. Despite having to hang on for dear life and freaking out a couple of times, I had a blast. read more
