We love going here, we have never had any complaints on food or drinks quality. Staff is very friendly. I do wish their drinks were more reasonably priced, most of their food items are cheaper than 1 alcoholic drink ($15 each last time I went). read more

Went here the other day for the first time for lunch with another 5 folks. Had an impressive wine selection, very hard to find a nice bottle of Calebread Cab of a decent year and they had some! Lunch was overall good, the beef and vegetable soup was good but a bit on the cold side, the pimento cheese and pita was wonderful, and the table overall liked their meals, the only real oddball was my panini, it was the furthest thing from a panini lol, it was just a warm turkey sandwich. It wasn't pressed or grilled at all. We will definitely go back. read more

Good food. Casual atmosphere and great service. Better get there early for seating on weekends.

Best mimosa's in town!! Also can't beat the price for all you can drink mimosa's, the food is delicious!!!

Stopped in around 9pm for dessert, we recognized the bartender from another restaurant and sat at the bar because he makes good suggestions. Hubby had coffee- freshly brewed and great quality. Naughty Nectar cocktail- awesome!! Dessert recommended by bartender was great; it was apple something with homemade vanilla ice cream -even had vanilla bean specks on it. Bottom line- trust your bartender read more

Ever since this place opened in DTH, it has given this town a little more energy where people can dine indoors/outdoors while listening to good music. The only reason why I gave it 4 stars is because the menu is limited during lunch time. This is a restaurant my family and I enjoy going too and trying new dishes every time. read more

The only restaurant in the square that weren't maskholes! Great bar, great Whiskey selection. Seth the bartender brought out whiskey samples. The food is excellent! We will be driving the hour back from Shelby to support these folks who know what customer service means! read more

THIS is an amazing place. The wine is great! We started with the charcuterie and it is UNBELIEVABLE! Sat outside. Casual laid back attentive staff. We LOVED IT!! Only had room for 1 dessert but highly recommend to try Notions !! read more

We had dinner at Notions last night. They have tables outside, and it was a nice night, so we sat outside. Food was great. 3 in our party had the salmon special and raved about it as the best salmon they've ever had. I had the blackened chicken salad, and it was delicious as well. Service was great! We would definitely go back. read more

We came for dinner and shared a bunch of appetizers. They were all really delicious, large portions, and had a good variety! The tempura cauliflower has a really nice batter and comes with really good sauces, and the sliders were really rich and well cooked. Their cocktail menu looked amazing too with a lot of choices. read more

Great food and drinks and excellent service Really nice atmosphere definitely one of the great places to eat in downtown Hickory

The food was absolutely delicious! Michael was a fantastic server. I will be coming back here next time I'm in Hickory! read more

If I could give 6 stars I would! We went tonight not realizing we should have made a reservation. We didn't but they were able to sit us at the bar area. Service was on point (I worked in the restaurant industry for 20 years so I feel like I am a good judge of thIs). Let's talk about the food. That was the shocker! OMG we got the sliders (usually dry and boring) and the beef short rib. Honestly the juiciest most flavorful sliders I have EVER eaten. I don't even like beef short ribs at least I didn't think I did. These were AMAZING! The cabbage, the gravy, the fresh mashed potatoes and the most tender beef. Hickory, this is a must go to! I plan on making a reservation for our next visit ASAP! read more

Delicious every time!!! Steak, soup, or dessert the chefs here are amazing!!! Great service

Had the absolute pleasure of dining with my family at Notion's last night. They have an impeccable cocktail, wine, and beer list. Indoor & outdoor seating available. We ordered the fried goat cheese salad and the tempura cauliflower for the table, both amazing with delicious sauces and dressing to dip! I had the Seabass on the current menu pictured with this post- it was unbelievable. I think this is the best food I've had in Catawba County. Their brunch menu looks amazing. Service was perfect and the Head Chef made a point to come to our table to speak with us. My fiancé and I love in Charlotte and are so happy to have such a great spot to dine at in Hickory when we are visiting my mom. Go check it out! read more

I should have taken a photo but I was to disappointed to even get my phone out. The food was terrible. The service just so,so I would not go back. The "crispy" Brussels sprouts were only crispy bc they were underdone. And they were literally swimming in a dish of what I think was ho ru mustard dressing. Soggy, raw Brussels sprouts. The veggie wrap had just two pieces of squash a piece of cheese and tons and tons of a mayo based dressing. Terrible food. read more

Ate there last weekend. Food was great and service top notch. The outdoor seating was great. Went here other times for wine and that is great too. read more

Their mixed drinks are top notch! We also grabbed a charcuterie board which was good but had some different flavors on it I'm not used to. But it was still good. read more

Relaxed atmosphere, delicious cocktails, absolute SUPERB food! You cannot go wrong with Notions.

Great location great atmosphere. The menu is bomb. I love the small sampling plates! The energy is always happy and bustling !

Great place and great food! Came here on a first date with a hot chick that is way out of my league that I met on Bumble. We had some good cheese dip that started with a "P". Some other stuff and some good wine and beer. Great music by Mike and Gil. Was impressed when an unbathed homeless man was fed by the staff (see pics). read more

The menu selections are definitely upscale. I enjoyed my menu selections, but would have the following suggestions for the chef and future diners. We had an ahi tuna appetizer. The tuna was a bit overdone, and the wasabi had no heat at all. Definitely needed the pepper sauce to give it some bite! We had the specials, tomahawk pork chop and salmon. Pork chop was cooked very nicely, and came out hot. In fact, all the entrees were very warm, given that we were eating outside on a cool fall evening. However, the herb sauce (sage or marjoram?) was a bit overpowering, but overall, the meat was well cooked and accompanied with great sides. In fact, the risotto cakes were really wonderful! The salmon was cooked to perfection, hot, and done with a very nice beure blanc sauce. It was however, way too salty, which could have resulted from the risotto with which it was served. Overall, we enjoyed our meal, but would suggest that future diners take salt and/or spices into consideration when ordering and ask that the kitchen make accommodations when ordering as everything is made to order. Wine and beer selections are rather mundane, but there are plenty of other alternatives for pre and post dining. Meiosis Pinot?? Buy that at Costco. I would return, but as a more educated diner, giving more guidance to the kitchen as to personal preferences. The ambience is very nice. Can't beat outside on a nice fall evening Service was very nice and attentive!!! read more

This was the second time my friend and I have eaten at this restaurant. The first time the meal was really good. This time, not so much so. We will give the restaurant another chance knowing they can do better - fingers crossed. We dined on a Wednesday evening and although the restaurant was half full with many staff working, we had to wait to get the menu and water. When our server came for our orders, there was no mention of specials. We did not find out about the specials until after our food was served and the table beside us, with different wait staff, was provided that information. When our bill was presented, we asked our server why we weren't told about the specials. The response was we 'looked like we were ready to order'. We would like to think the server was new... My dining companion ordered the filet mignon with smashed red skin potatoes and asparagus and said it had good flavor. I ordered the Cajun chicken alfredo with cavatappi pasta and Cajun sauce. There was no Cajun flavor to it. The chicken was dry and burnt. It was served on what can be best described as macaroni and cheese and had to be no less than half a pound of pasta - way too much pasta for the amount of chicken that topped it. Here's to hoping our next visit will be better. read more

Excellent food and excellent service despite being extremely busy. The waitress had a blanket brought out for the cool night and the fire pits and atmosphere was really nice. We just got a few apps but they were great! read more

Not from the area, so just looking for dinner one night around 9:15 pm. Decor is great, especially the tables that make up the bar back. So cool! Drinks were great, food was delicious! Brussel sprouts were the best I've ever had! And the service was excellent! Sometimes when you're in a restaurant close to closing time, you can tell the wait staff is just ready to go home, but our server was sweet as could be! Wish we didn't live 3 hours away read more

Phenomenal!! Food and the cocktails are soooo good! I had the salmon special which was excellent; hubby loved the shrimp and grits and friend had the short ribs which were excellent as well. My only critique is that it is a small restaurant and it is quite noisy so it is hard to have a conversation without raising your voice. read more

"Oh my god it was awful. It was really poor. Holy shit." ~ my wife. Basically sums it up. But other than my steak being overcooked and her bouillabaisse being so undercooked as to qualify as raw and not eatable, the drink was good. It didn't help it was a fixed menu, but the food was simply wanting. read more

My husband and I just finished dinner here,( still at the table!) and it was delicious! I got the braised short ribs and they were melt-in-your-mouth tender. My husband got the blackened chicken and it was seasoned so well! I hate getting chicken out and it's bland. This was anything but that! We will definitely be back. We had a wonderful, attentive server and someone from the kitchen also came out to inquire about our feelings on our meal. Highly recommend! read more

I've tried to love this place 3 times. First time was GREAT. Had soup of the day (corn chowder) and a BLT that had too much bacon . Service was fantastic (Arial) Second time, the soup was so salty it was almost inedible, and the grilled Caesar salad had a funky taste. Service was horrible. New girl walking around in circles. Bartender helping her out walked our soup around the room until I flagged him down after he tried to drop it at 2 other tables. Third time we had the braised beef ribs which were cooked perfectly but had a weird herb that threw the entire dish off. Our server was horrible and left mid shift (thank God) and Arial took over as our server. She's the best one so far. read more

We had a great experience at Notions. Came to town to visit Henry River Mill Village where some of the Hunger Games was filmed. Hickory is a short drive from this cool spot. After walking the shops downtown we decided to stop at Notions for brunch. The lox bagel board was great, poutine was awesome, and the bottomless mimosa was spot on. The live music and great service just made it better. Highly recommend! read more

As a local in hickory, this place is new to me. Friend and I were looking for live music one night and Notions was the only place with live music outside. The ambiance inside is cute, sleek, and very modern with twinkly lights everywhere kind of with a vintage vibe with the decoration. I enjoyed my time there, I got a mimosa because I wasn't sure what wine to try but I will definitely come back soon! read more

This feels like an urban spot for small plates. Great atmosphere, good food, you will forget for a while that it is Hickory. Everything we have had has been good, Lately it has had Saturday brunch, which has been popular; show up early, or show up late because the early rush means the kitchen is way behind (or you might show up at 11:30 and order the "bottomless mimosas" because you will have an hour to take advantage of them). read more
