Richard has been a delight and has always been able to resurrect my laptops. I think it's magic, but he says it's science. He has never been anything but patient and gracious with my endless questions. Unlike other shops he has also never tried to con me into "just buy a new one." I was really upset when I went to the old location and the adjacent shops did not know where they were. Fortunately, they had just relocated but we're still close by. It was well worth driving in a circle until Waze could find the address. Even when I've been traveling out of state, Richard was able to fix my laptop and keep me going. Can't ever say how grateful I am to these guys! I hope Richard stays with the company at least until I retire. =) read more

This place is TRULY AMAZING! I've been a loyal customer since 2006. I have bought three laptops from them and I have been truly satisfied with all of them. Not only did they have a great selection of computers, they have GREAT SERVICE as well. I've been to them several times with problems regarding my personal computers. Not only were they able to fix the problem, they did it quickly with such an affordable price. In addition to really knowing computers well, the thing that I like most about Paul and Richard is that they are truly HONEST people and they proven to be very TRUSTWORTHY!!! If you are looking for a great new or refurbished laptop with excellent reliable service from trustworthy people, this the place to go!!! Forget Best Buy and the Geek Squad, Paul and Richard are far superior to them!!! Thanks again guys! You're the best! Everard read more

I have been coming here for years, and buying Fujitsu Computers, they are the best, I read Fujitsu was bought out now, so I have to research now to find a new business computer, Notebook shop has always directed me in the right direction at a price I could afford, They continue to maintain my laptops when I have problems, because, I cant have any downtime, I use my computer 24/7 for the business. I have to think twice about sharing The Notebook Shop, they've been that good and I've had great service. I have been going here for years both for computer repair and to purchase laptops. Each time Richard has been talented at diagnosing and fixing my computers fast. My business depends on it and I'm happy that I can count on them. Prices are fair and the work is dependable and quick. (Yes, parts sometimes have to be shipped, but that's a given everywhere. They have always gotten me the right part faster than anyone else). They've been direct, forthright and honest in servicing my computer needs. Please don't all rush here because I like having them available as my "go-to" computer place! read more

I have just been to the Nordstroms of computer stores. The store we went to was in Cerritos. Friendly, knowledgable, professional and caring are just the ground floor. Jim Koo and Brian Kim both participated in one of the most unique experiences of a usually painful process. Brian spent over an hour with my wife and myself to make sure we selected a computer that fit our needs. The prices are excellent and the selection of computers superb. Jim Koo, the owner believes in fair pricing and also runs many specials. Currently they have a two for one special which makes computer buying even more interesting. read more

Had a great experience here. I drove all over to the big box retailers and did not quite find what I wanted. Paul the manager helped me. I got a great Asus laptop at a very good price. More importantly I had a little trouble adjusting to a Windows touchpad.I called and explained my issue they said come on in and we'll figure it out. They took me through all of the nuances vesus a Mac and made sure I knew how to navigate on the new machine. They even through in a travel mouse for good measure in case I ever wanted to use it. Overall a very satisfying experience. If you are in the market for a laptop check these guys out read more

their service and follow up is very poor. they always have excuses why something cannot get done. They are only interested in selling the product read more

Seeing the various reviews here, I can only speak of my experience. Which was really good. I bought my laptop at the end of September 2013 and I've waited to write a review just in case I problems with the laptop. It's now mid-December. At the end of August my desktop motherboard shorted out, my 4 year old laptop which survived a water spill was no longer functioning (basically finished my dissertation and it went dead after I submitted), and the laptops I bought and got replaced from MicroCenter were duds with terrible tech support. I walked into this store actually rather desperate as I need at least one functioning computer for my job, and the sales rep, Sejeong, got to the bottom of what I needed and I got a laptop that was a great balance of price and performance. Furthermore, I got a free downgrade to Windows 7 (Windows 8 was created by Satan himself). Now here's where I felt like I got good customer service. He told me that they'd tried to get the laptop ready by end of the day (I believe I walked in at 1 PM that day) and if not, first though next morning. Well, I expected getting it the next day. By 6 PM, however, I got call back that day saying my laptop was ready. Went back out there and they had it hooked up and displayed for my persusal as he continued to tell me about the sound system (and really, the Asus n56v has a really nice sound system) and showed off the HD display with a very nice HD Wallpaper that I haven't changed. I left there with them making sure I was pleased. Since then, this laptop has worked 1) Well, 2) Bailed me out with my desktop having since gone through a SSD drive failure and replacement. So, the one here on Barranca with Sejeong had some really good customer service. And I couldn't be more pleased. Your mileage may vary depending on time and day you walk in, sales reps being different, etc. But I had a really good experience. read more

DO NOT GO!! The owner is the most rude, condescending, person I have ever dealt with in the computer business. He will take advantage of anyone who he thinks doesn't know their technology. I took my desktop there to fix a hard drive and some virus issues, he charged me over $200 to fix it which is a high price but reasonably fair. Except he just replaced the hard drive, which is $120 at the most, but did not fix a single issue with the virus. when I brought this up to him he said it must be a new virus and wanted more money to look work on the computer! To top it off he was just plain rude about everything and it was a very bad experience. Luckily my dad had Geek Squads Tech Service and I ended up taking it there and they fixed it right up for free. Save yourself time and money by not going to the Notebook Shop. read more

My husband and I have been going to Richard & Paul at The Notebook Shop in Irvine for years. They have kept my laptop running for about 8 years and have always been friendly, reliable and fair. We drive from San Juan Capistrano because we trust them so much. This review is long overdue!! read more

These guys are fantastic! They fixed my computer, changed my hard drive, changed my operating system and if that was not enough even helped me figure out how to do some things in an old word 2010 program that no one else could figure out! My my daughter-in-law with her masters in computer science, my regular computer guy, and four other people couldn't figure out how to remove styles from word 2010. But those wonderful guys at Notebook Shop figured it out in an instant. I'm so grateful. read more

I recently purchased a bright & shiny ASUS laptop from Notebook Shop. At my request, they scrubbed the hard drive and loaded the WIN 7 32 bit operating system for me at no extra cost. This version of Windows works better for older programs than the 64 bit version. Last week, the power connector connector started to operate sporadically. At first, it seemed like it might be an operating system issue and I agreed to pay $69 for re-installing the operating system. They sent the computer to a repair facility and they determined that the laptop needed another mother board and repaired if for free. They could have easily charged me the $69 but didn't and covered the repair under warranty. read more

Buy a new laptop and things don't always go as planned! I did the data transfer and install of new software and it did not go well. Not to worry! Paul and Richard came to the rescue. The service was exceptional! If you are in the market for a computer this is the place to go. Thanks Paul for giving me a ride home instead of me using Uber again! Awesome service! read more

Went to the Notebook Shop because they were advertising some deals for the summer and are a local shop. Bought my daughter a very reasonable laptop for 9th grade. They were great and helpful and support their products. We gotta keep buying from the little guys so the big warehouses aren't the only businesses left in this country! Do not go to Best Buy or Costco for your new laptop. There are other options! read more

These guys are fantastic. I have bought my last 2 computers from them and they have made every purchase or work painless. In fact, I recently waited until I had to go to Southern California from Monterey to take my computer in for problems with my hard drive. They changed the hard drive to a newer one with much larger capacity, serviced the fan, brought over all my data (a large amount) and got all my programs running again in one day for an extremely reasonable price. It is like I have a new computer! read more
