This is my second time visiting this really awesome store, and I love it more every time! There are so many different options, and you can find something for just about everyone. Last Christmas, I came looking for something special for my newest granddaughter. I found the cutest purple sloth and a sweet book called Good Night, Sloth. Unfortunately, my granddaughter loved her purple sloth a little too much and managed to mess it up! So, when I came back to Folsom, I knew I had to look for another purple sloth. They are so popular that the purple sloth is currently on backorder, but I found this big, super-soft sloth instead. It's actually an upgrade and will be perfect for her! My other daughter is expecting her first baby--a little boy! So, of course, we had to do some baby shopping. We found some adorable finger-puppet books and a Warmies dinosaur. So many cute things! But this store offers so much more than baby items. You can find things for your kitchen, bedroom, dining room, Christmas, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and so much more. There are unique gifts everywhere you look. I absolutely love browsing here! I only wish I lived a little closer. I live in Nevada, but whenever I come to California to visit my daughter, we're definitely going to make a day trip to Folsom. It's so close to her, and this store is always worth the trip. The people here are awesome, too! They even offered us some homemade cinnamon rolls, and they were AMAZING! The prices are very reasonable, and they also offer a military discount, which is a wonderful bonus. If you're in Folsom, California, make sure you stop by Not Too Shabby on Sutter Street. I don't like small shops bc I feel pressured but not here! While in Historic Folsom I was looking for a particular restaurant. Well I was out of luck on the restaurant, it no longer exists. But what I did find in the process was the Not Too Shabby shop. Right when I stepped into the shop, I knew right away I might be in trouble. Not only was I greeted and welcomed, I eyed lots of gift-able items that I wanted. They sold new home decor items, seasonal decorations, and a pretty intense chalk paint selection. Everything was vibing a chic farm house style. They even have a cute class space for DIY workshops. I think I counted like 4 Christmas trees inside here lol all of them fully decorated. With it being December, this shop is currently decked out in countless holiday-themed items. I love this store!! Five stars all the way!! The store is on the main section of Sutter Street in Old Folsom. There is a big parking lot on either end of the shopping district. Note: The street itself is closed to car traffic on weekends which makes for nice strolling. The owner of the store is so friendly and kind. They have the FULL selection of Iron Orchid Products (I have spent a ton!) and it's the best place to buy a unique gift. Housewares, baby gifts, home decor.... It's wonderful. read more

I was having a lovely day out with a friend just browsing the nearby shops, stumbled upon this shop as it was open, most were closed down Sutter Street, Lots of cute items, the one thing that stood out the most was the comment made by I assumed the shop owner, she had some items in the back she had painted and as my friend and I reached the back projected out to us, "oh those are wet, if you feel like touching?", I felt like I was a child being told to keep my hand off things, I will never be back here! read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would... first of all, I came in looking around browsing and was about to make a purchase and then the woman working informed me and a friend the store was closing and I said okay and proceeded to finish with what I was looking at and she stood there and said "you're done you can go" and I said okay there's others in the store... and she responded no they're shopping, and i laughed and said okay. They are still looking around and they locked us out LOL all because I don't look like a typical "folsom" client. Terrible business I feel sorry for the owner if they allow this behavior from employees, which is seems like they do. After we left we went into another store and told them how we had such a terrible shopping experience prior to our visit at the new store and the associate knew right away and said "not too shabby huh?" is this doesn't speak volumes I don't know what does. p.s saw the other "customers" after they left the store, they came out with nothing. I have been working on a table I found at a thrift store for a week now. I was about to give up today, until I remembered that Not Too Shabby carried Annie Sloan Chalk paint. After doing a significant amount of research I decided to drive the whole 2 miles and check it out. Everyone in the store was so helpful. One of the women's husbands happened to be there and helped as well. I walked out with fabulous paint, wax, and more knowledge than I know what to do with! Yes, the paint is super expensive, but from what I hear and from the little fun I had when I got home, it was well worth it. I was in Folsom this past weekend for lunch with family visiting out of town and I wandered in completely on a whim. I'll be moving into a new apartment next month and have been on Pinterest like a madwoman checking out decor ideas for my 1-bedroom city oasis. This store has the most adorable AND affordable finds for adding a girly touch to any space. We're talking seasonal decorations, candles, chalk paint, glass bowls, door knobs, and inspirational plaques. I walked out with a magnetic board designed to hold jewelry plus a few coordinating magnets. Price: $38 for the board plus about $10 for 2 magnets. Totally reasonable for my Anthropologie-taste on a Tarjay budget. read more

I wandered into Not Too Shabby because I thought it was an antique store. Hmmm...not quite. If you're familiar with the "Paris Apartment" and "Shabby Chic" books you'll recognize the aesthetic at Not Too Shabby. There's also a definite Martha Stewart vibe going on here. The store fills two small rooms and the merchandise is a mix of vintage and reproduction items, including chandeliers, painted furniture and textiles. There are also girly potions and soaps and flowery stuff. (Not my thing at all, but it was tastefully displayed and the fragrances weren't obnoxious.) I noticed a good selection of reproduction glass cabinet handles and knobs in a better variety of colors than I've ever found in a hardware store. I zeroed in on a basket of early 20th century snapshots, but to my dismay they were cut from a photo album. Chopped-up albums lose their narrative and historic value, and in this case the photos were extremely overpriced at $2.50 each. I think this was due to inexperience rather than greed, though. The owner was a sweet, talkative lady who told me she'd brought her two dogs to work because she was worried about leaving them at home in the heat. I give major props to any business that's dog-friendly, so she won some points for this. Overall, Not Too Shabby is a cute little shop. It's not icky-sweet in that porcelain-dolls-and-potpourri way, but it probably isn't a place you should drag your man into. I love little shabby chic antique shops and this one is great! They have cute furniture and accessories, but the best part is that they are the only place to get annie sloan chalk paint. It is very expensive and I was very skeptical! So I tried home depot chalk paint first. It worked good, but only came in black. My girlfriend was painting her built in cabinets in her home and we used the annie sloan and it was sooooo soooo worth it!! It goes on so so easily and looks amazing! The dark wax gives it an antiqued look! It looks like she got all new expensive french cabinets. The gals there know their stuff too!! They will teach you how to use it too. The owner is so sweet! I stumbled upon this place while walking around Historic Folsom in search of a restaurant. The name is cute and it drew me in, since I have a strange fascination with the shabby chic home decor look. I met Bobby Eddy, the owner of the shop, and she is very friendly and very passionate about her shop and her work. Her shop is medium-sized and packed with great looking refurbished vintage furniture that she calls Cottage Chic (a subset to Shabby.) She uses lots of whites and blues, some greens and you've also got your pinks. There are corner kitchen cupboards, mismatched nightstands with sky blue crystal knobs, bed frames and charming vintages desks that look dreamy in the office. Eddy, also teaches classes in decoupage and if you have a furniture project that you are working on, she's more than happy to talk to you about your ideas, which I thought was super cool. She helped me put together a vintage picture frame from a box of pictures that I had been carrying around for years. Great little place that sells some sweet treasures. read more

Cute store with many fun items. Well laid out. The only thing I found off-putting was the older lady behind the register. I said hello when I entered (I was one of two customers inside), she did not even look up or respond. Perhaps she did not hear me. I perused the store for quite some time, and was happy to discover several items that were nice possibilities for future gifts. However, I was disappointed this lady did not once speak to me, ask if I was looking for anything or to let he know if I had any questions or needed help. One of my favorite gift shops in Folsom. This is where i go if I need to get a b-day or christmas gift for a woman. I've also gotten new baby gifts and house warming gift once. It's not cheap, but there are a lot of price points. One thing they carry I can't live without is the french grapefruit soap. lemon verbena also very good. $7 a bar, but I use it every day and its hard milled or whatever they call it, so it lasts for months in my shower. its my personal endulgence. another plus...its not the mall! read more

This shop always inspires me. They carry seasonal decorative pieces as well as some jewelry and chalk paint. Many of the items are quite affordable, and I always pick up some good display ideas when I'm there so I always make sure my phone's charged so I can take a photo and I remember to look up because a lot of the cool stuff is hanging from the ceiling or on the walls.
