I was here Christmas week trying support local businesses and came across a ripped and ragged incomplete piece of sheet music in a pile in the back with no price. Other complete sheet music in decent or good condition in the pile were priced at $2.50. I offered the cashier (believe it was a woman and she had medium/long brown hair and was at least over 50) $1 for it and she said something about it being really old and she'd give it to me for $2. I told her how I thought it was cool because it was song used in a modern horror movie. She said "and it's not worth another $1 to you?" I smiled and said something like "I'm just bargaining" she said "well you can think about it" which kind of took me aback. So I laughed and lightheartedly replied "or you can think about it" and took the sheet to return it back to where I found it. It wasn't a big deal to me. However, she proceeded to talk crap about me without another customer when I walked away, not knowing my friend was still in earshot. She told this other stranger that if I had been nicer she would've given it to me. This was especially shocking because if anything, I felt like she was the one being kind of snarky. But I'm an avid antique buyer and am used to heckling so it did not really bother me. I even thanked her when we left, before my friend told me what she had said when I left the counter. She has a lost what would have been a very loyal customer. I love antiques and saw many things around the store I wanted to sleep on before coming back to buy them. It was first time ever in the store because it's normally closed when I'm in Folsom. But talking crap about a customer with another customer when they're still in the store is so unprofessional I will never step foot in here again. And fwiw I found the sheet music in perfect condition and fully intact online for $3. read more

One of the only antique shops left in Folsom that survive Covid after been shut down for a year. It has been A few years since we've been here, we decided to stop by because it's been a minute. This shop it's is well mapped out and neatly displayed on everything they have set up. It is one of those places you definitely have to look floor to the ceiling every nook and cranny or you'll miss some things. I must admit they have a lot of vintage furniture that I am very in love with like Gothic style or even French walnut from the 1880s to mid century. From glassware, plates, figurines, paintings, military items, dolls, jewlery, books and so much more. The owner is a very nice lady who is willing to help you out and answer any questions you have, it is decently priced and a hidden gem for sures. read more

If there was a way to leave no stars, that would be my rating. Short story: Horrid owners. They lie to you, to steal from you. Incredibly overpriced so if you find something you're willing to drop dime on, do not put it on layaway. They will ask for a deposit, and give you a receipt. You will make payments and when you finally go in to pick up your item, have fun trying to find it because the minute you left the store on deposit day, they put it right back on the sales floor. Oh and don't lose your "receipt" because they will fall back on that. You can bring in all the proof of payments and it doesn't matter because it's not the receipt. I believe the owner hides money from her husband with a secret PayPal account she set up. She will call you privately and ask you to pay in full, you will and then she will lie to your face in the store and tell you "we don't have a PayPal account". She is insane, a liar and a thief. I will warn everyone against this business. Long story: My family and I spent the afternoon shopping in Old Folsom and we love antiquing so we spent close to an hour in this shop. I found a mini Chinese lion statue, no bigger than my hand, and of course like many things in this shop... it was incredibly overpriced, but I wanted it so I put it on layaway. I put a deposit down to hold it and we went about our shopping day. Then covid hit. I got a call from the store owner, a woman, who told me that her and her family were going on vacation and would be gone for about a month and she asked if I could PayPal her the remaining balance for my item. I took down her email and paid right away. I called her back and asked her when would be a good time to come pick it up and she told me that they closed the shop due to covid and she didn't know when they would be opening again. I told her that was fine, it's paid for so I'll just pick up when things open back up. Fast forward to today. My husband and I decided to go to Old Folsom and remembered that we should pick up my item. We went in and there were a total of three similar items in the display cabinet where my item was still on display. I couldn't remember which one was mine but the price difference between them quickly told me which one I bought. She walked it up to the front of the store and asked me for my receipt. When I told her I didn't have it, I only had the proof I paid her via PayPal she lied and told me "I don't have a PayPal account". My reaction was utter shock that she was lying straight to my face. So I tried to remind her of our phone conversation about her closing the shop and going on vacation during covid and she said she didn't know what I was talking about. So I called her a liar and she pretended to be shocked, she started laughing at me and said "if you don't have a receipt you don't have proof". I left the store to pull up the PayPal transaction and went back in and showed her my proof. She asked me the date of payment and When I told her, she responded with "that's when we were vacationing in Sweden" . She just said she didn't know what I was talking about!!! So she tells me "that proves nothing, you don't have a receipt" and she started helping another customer check out. I told her that I was here first and she needed to help me first or I was going to call the police to come keep the peace and I started recording her with my phone. She quickly changed her attitude and told me "I'll check my account but not today". So I told her "that is fine, you can have the whole week to check your account, please write a day and time on the back of your business card so I can come back to the store to discuss this purchase". She told me "why would I do that, you're being manipulative" and I replied "I'm not being manipulative, I'm asking a store owner to write down an appointment time for me to come back". So she said "come on Friday, I'm only open on Fridays" (FYI this is going down on a Saturday) I said "perfect, I have Friday off I will see you then, now please write that on the card". She wrote 'Monday 10am' and I had her correct it to Friday. Unbelievable. I highly doubt I will get my item and I know I won't get a refund. Even though my account states she has been paid, I DO NOT HAVE MY RECEIPT. Screw her and screw that shop. I fully plan on writing an update to this review after this Friday. read more

This is a proper antique shop, crowded and dusty. If you are looking for one of those "Live, Laugh, Love," shabby chic shops, this isn't it. (And seriously...you shouldn't go to those "living your best life" places. They're awful.) I stop and visit a porcelain doll that I have been eyeballing for years, every time I'm in old town. Why wasn't I wearing bicycle shorts or staring at my cell phone like all the other Folsom dingleberries in the neighborhood? Well I managed to smile at her even though she looks old and stinky. I probably should have read some of the reviews here before buying anything from them. Went there years ago with my wife, who liked some of the bracelets they had, so when I passed through the area again recently I went in there looking for a surprise gift for her. The items she liked were of course long gone, but I saw a bracelet that I thought she might still like. The counter clerk told me that the stones mounted on the bracelet were genuine Brazilian opal. Having little experience in determining what's real and what's fake, I simply took her word for it, as the price was commensurate with the real opal jewelries that my wife had bought from similar types of stores in the past. I was not bothered by the "all sales final" warning, because I trusted the store, as well as the young woman behind the counter, who sounded sincere and appeared (to me) to know what she was talking about. My trust was badly misplaced. When I presented the bracelet to my wife, the first words to come out of her mouth were "oh no!" These stones are such bad fakes that she recognized them as junk from five feet away. Indeed, once I did some reading on the subject myself, I also came to realize that these are really just little bits of colored tin foil covered in some sort of glass or plastic. Anyone with an elementary knowledge of what an opal should look like would have recognized instantly that this was cheap imitation crap. Unless the vendor and the store clerk were both as thoroughly ignorant of what they were selling as I was (which would be quite alarming considering the nature of their business), at least one of them was knowingly selling a fake as the real thing. Yes, it was idiotic of me to buy something I knew nothing about, but I was not buying from a street vendor in some third world country; I was buying from an established business on Main Street USA, the kind of street where you'd expect to see Andy and Opie Taylor walk by any minute... I can understand a business selling used items protecting itself from the shifting whims and potential dishonesty of its customers using the "all sales final" shield, I don't even mind paying a little extra if what I get is what they say it is, but selling obvious fakes to unsuspecting tourists? If unintentional, inexperienced jewelry buyers like me should probably stay away. If intentional, that's just marginally better than stealing! Stealing would merit zero star, so one star seems appropriate for my experience. read more

I will NEVER shop here again! I've only been in the store a few times and the last time I was in I found and fell in love with a beautiful aquamarine ring. They offered layaway so I decided I would use it. The very next day I got a call from the store saying that the ring was not priced correctly and that the actual price is DOUBLE the price that it was marked at. I couldn't believe it, was this a scam? I asked, how could they do this? They would not honor the layaway contract I had made with them and I asked- what if I had bought it out right? I'm not sure how they can do business this way and wonder if this is something they've done before? Very bad experience! read more

Buyer BEWARE! This place is a total rip off, glorified garage sale. Make sure you authenticate, check the value, and inspect items before purchasing anything from this establishment. The owner misrepresents the quality and value and tries to say all sales are final. Then she puts a young frail boy at the register that says, "I'm not authorized to do returns" while she is probably hiding in the back room. If you buy anything from this dishonest, irreputable, over priced person/store it will be an expensive lesson learned. She sold over a hundred dollars of worthless items to my unsuspecting 20 year old daughter .......totally taking advantage of people. I remember this antique store being the best place to go for anything old on Sutter Street. That was a few years ago and since then I don't think it has the same charm as it did back in the day. It is stocked well enough, like another reviewer said the merchandise is from floor to ceiling. You may have to walk through multiple times in order to find what you're looking for. The number one turn off for me are the prices. Some people say that antique pricing is subjective and I can agree with that to a certain extent. But when you place a 20 to 30 percent markup on items you can find on e-bay for half the price, well...there's something wrong there. Half the fun with shopping at antique stores is finding something you like and being able to haggle on price until you come to a compromise. It makes the antique you purchase that much more special. Unfortunately, most of the merchandise here is pretty much set in stone. No haggling what so ever. That kinda takes the fun out of shopping here. There is very little product here priced under 20 dollars. Overall, it's a nice shop to visit. You might even find something you want to buy, but beware, you will being paying top dollar for what you want. Try to haggle the price, but it probably won't do you any good. read more

This is quite possibly my favorite antique store on Sutter street. The place is absolutely filled with so much merchandise that if you blink or forget to look up, you might miss something. It can take a while to look through this store because there's just SO MUCH stuff in there. As soon as you walk in the first thing you notice is the estate jewelry. I love me some estate jewelry, especially if I can find a cute necklace. They even had a Muppets lunch box with Fozzy on one side. It's really hard for me to describe exactly what is in here because there's just so many things. Let's just say they have a little bit of everything. read more

Was very impressed by the furniture selection in this store. They had this 7 to 8 foot grandfather clock, which was magnificent. They also have several secretaries, sideboards and classic ornate wood furniture. Quite a few beautiful wood pieces. Also some glass and costume jewelry. Bright and fully packed antique store. I have shopped at Emily's for a very long time. Their selection is so wide and varied too. Their Hummel selection is large, these became favorite gifts for my mother, who found them charming. If you want to haggle, be prepared by bringing in CASH. If you do not have cash then the flexibility of haggling is hampered by the cost of processing the payment. In my experience, I bring cash for shopping so that I can get the very best price. Their antique and vintage jewelry is beautiful. My collection of antique sterling vanity pieces began with a purchase of RW&S (Wallace) brush set in the Carnation pattern. It is stunning on my dressing table, the repousse silver is like nothing else. Plan to spend some time as this place is packed with treasures. read more

Emily's Corner isn't a big antique store, but it's packed floor-to-ceiling with so many things that you'll have to walk through it several times to see everything. There's not much in the way of bizarre, head-turning weirdness here, but lots of nice furniture, china, housewares, etc. The walls are covered with framed paintings and prints, and the jewelry cases are crammed with sparkly treasures. I Love Love Love this store! I have been here a couple of times now and each time I visit I am more impressed with her knowledge and items. Yes, the store does have the usual suspects of modern and typical items. However she has the unusual and unique too, which I love. I spent over an hour in there this week and I could have stayed longer but I needed to get on the road. I brought home a few lovely delights that I am still pleased as punch over, but there are a couple of items I'm still dreaming about too. Hmm, I might need to take another road trip. Emily was an absolute delight to work with and she has an amazing amount of knowledge. She also does appraisals, so keep that in mind if you need a resource.
