April 2026 In the past, this place was 5 stars. I went again recently, and was horribly disappointed. The "reorganization" they've done is awful, and their prices seem to have doubled in the last year. Even for damaged or obviously well worn items. Makes more sense to shop at Walmart and just get things new. Also the staff kept trying to take my cart. Moving it completely when my back was turned, or asking: "Are u done with this? Are u using this?" It has my stuff in it. I'm 5-10 feet away. I can't keep the cart exactly with me anymore because your merchandise is now everywhere in the walkways and the carts wouldn't fit! No longer affordable. No longer fun to shop here. Felt like an inconvenience to the staff. read more

So many items to rummage through and a beautiful boutique to explore. The have decent customer service since it's all volunteer work and the store is well stocked with donations and is clean. Good prices and the only thing is that they don't have customers restrooms which makes it hard for the people that have to urinate frequently. :-/ read more

Love the place Scott is a great human, last time I was there I was met with rudeness and disrespect, the employees name is drayton , I've never had a problem with anyone at all to be treated with such disrespect was shocking to me. Well my gripe is with the one employee I mentioned not the store in fact the store is great. One bad apple can ruin the whole box. read more

In my travels between Lake Tahoe and the Bay Area over the years, I have found that making a stop at Snowline Thrift to be a delightful break in the drive, and a chance to do some bargain shopping. I always came away with a few interesting items that I never knew I needed. The last time I was there I found that the restrooms were closed. I asked the lady at the counter if there was an issue with them, and she informed me that they were now permanently closed! Snowline Thrift is located at an isolated off ramp on Hwy 50, and there are no other stores, restaurants, gas stations, or other facilities there. Snowline Thrift is in a huge building, with large restrooms in it, and plenty of room to expand them if handicap access was a possible issue in closing them. In the few times I have encountered a non-profit charity store with a no restroom for customers policy, I have to wonder why they are so concerned about providing for the needs of a special group of people (Hospice care, in Snowline's case), yet they are not willing to provide for a basic pressing need of the customers who shop in their store? I find it particularly ironic that the mission statement on the Snowline website proudly proclaims: (and this is a direct quote) "Snowline is a nonprofit organization that focuses on PEOPLE OVER PROFITS" read more

I've been coming here for years usually for small things on my way to stay in Tahoe for the weekend like some puzzles or if I forgotten a jacket and I always just take a look around at what they have to offer. They have a wide array of things and I've been in where they've had tons of artificial Christmas tree trees for sale. I want occasion I realize I didn't have any camp chairs in the car and we were heading to a parade so we swung in and they happen to have a matching pair that were brand new in the bags for a fraction of the cost so that was my last big score when I really needed it. We were driving by on Sunday and I had already looked on the website that said they were closed, but the parking lot was full so I'm kind of confused. We were heading back home and I didn't notice until as we were past the exit. So I guess maybe call first but it's a nice stop on your way up to Placerville or Lake Tahoe. Good place to stretch your legs and use the bathroom. read more

I shop here for unique art and decor and tend to find great stuff. The people who work here are more than friendly-you can tell they enjoy their job, too. Donating is really easy and the location on El Dorado is my favorite. read more

The displays are great, and the store is organized nicely, so you can really see the items - not just thrown in piles. This is one of my favorite thrift stores around. We usually make sure to stop when in the area. Staff is friendly. I can spend an hour in here looking around. It is fairly large inside but very organized and clean. There isn't any broken or filthy items. They put a lot of the glassware/tableware items by color. Each section is well stocked. The prices are mostly reasonable with an occassional are you kidding me. The only downside is that clothes are pretty outdated or worn. Smaller selection. I have never found any clothing items I remotely liked. But it is all one price for type regardless of brand. All shoes $6.99 etc... Every once in a while I find a little gem. We know that reasons for your eBay store are 1. So resellers can't make the profit. 2. You've scoured through every donation and probably googled them yourselves to make every cent YOUR BUISNESS WHO GETS THINGS FOR FREE can - completely obliterating the whole thrift store experience. I'll say it again and again, Thrifting here used to help BOTH sides, Low income folks could come in, buy the things they needed at a reasonable price and contribute to a good cause. Now, Snowline hangs on to the tag line "but we help" while marking donated items up to the highest price point possible, taking anything of value or special and marks up on their eBay store, then proceeds to leaves passive aggressive comments on bad reviews. The Cameron Park "boutique" is a prime example of the robbery. They want every cent they can squeeze out of you in the guise of charity. Saying you help the community while simontaneously robbing it is a wild business model. $700 for a dresser that wobbles when you touch it is INSANE! YES, Seeing that price on furniture made me ill. We aren't talking about forks or Tupperware, were talking about items that single parents need. Amador thrift, in Jackson, or any thrift store in Jackson for that matter manages to keep their prices extremely reasonable . I'm not an experienced thrift shop shopper. I'm just a gal that loves a bargain and to browse antiques and previously loved items. If you're the same, Snowline Hospice Thrift shop in Placerville, CA, may be a spot to check out. It's off the El Dorado exit on Highway 50. Currently the shop is open Monday-Saturday 10am-3pm, closed on Sunday. The store hours on the website aren't updated. That is understandable since staffing is dependent on a limited number of volunteers. It's best to call them to confirm hours before you go out of your way to drive there. For the hardcore folks looking for the deals and finds you see on Instagram and the Antique Roadshow, you maybe out of luck. Snowline has an EBay site where they sell their "premium" donations. The items in the shop are organized well and kept tidy. Items and shelves seem to be dusted. The inventory consist of clothes, purses, kitchenware, silverware, kitchen appliances, books, toys, artwork, fitness equipment, furniture, and home decor. This was my first visit here. This thrift store is neat and clean. The clothing prices seem a tad bit on the higher side But you can find some terrific deals. The glassware (which I was looking for) was extensive. I found two champagne flutes (matching) and three (two matching and one single) champagne coupe. Great prices!!! Can't go wrong with that. This place used to be sooooo amazing. Now they are selling all the good stuff out the back on their eBay store. The stuff on the floor is garbage, broken, beat up, and rundown then they are price gouging at retail and above for what you could buy new. The furniture is outrageous for the insane prices and low quality. It makes me sick that it is no longer a way to help people in the community have access to reasonably priced second hand goods. Rolled up to find a giant sign on their building announcing their Ebay store. Way to zap the fun out of thrift shopping. Why bother coming here if all the good stuff is online and at higher price points. The stuff that IS offered in the retail store is typical run-of-the-mill garbage. Drove 40 minutes for this? Won't be returning any time soon. Advice to management. Lower the prices (especially the furniture). Become a destination for shoppers and resellers. Better pricing on desirable items will move inventory quicker and keep people excited to come back and shop and treasure hunt. Wisking away inventory to Ebay does a huge disservice to your store and your customer base. Plus the amount of fees involved with ebay actually nets you less profit overall than just putting it in your store. read more

This thrift store is so expensive! I was laughing out loud at the prices. They were selling a rocking chair ( same one that I got of Facebook marketplace brand new for $100 and including a stool) for a $100. It was all stained and looked disgusting! Come on, folks, Lower the prices. You will sell more things. read more

Pros: Nice staff. Spacious aisle in women's clothing area. Decent prices on books. Books are fairly well sorted including animal/pets section. Good prices on random stuff like lawn seed sprayer ($10), old school sturdy mechanic's creeper ($10), and large cork board in great shape ($5). Easy access off of U.S. Route 50. Parking plentiful. Lots of furniture in great condition even if older. Likely a common spot for estate sale leftovers since I'm sure this is a retirement area for many. Cons: Prices are higher than I'm willing to pay for used athletic attire ($6 for all tops). Not too much athletic clothing - maybe because it's a retirement area. I'd come back if looking for a certain kind of item but not for clothes. read more

This thrift store should be ashamed. They are denying the use of their restroom to customers. If there were any businesses nearby where you could get to fast that would be better but this thrift is miles away from other places in El Dorado. I have donated and purchased from them but never again. Shameful not to let women and children use a restroom if needed. And this is a hospice thrift- truly shameful! read more

3/25/23: Stopped by on the way back from downtown Placerville. I just never know what I'll find here. Love the surprises. I assume by the afternoon the inventory is all picked over, but always worth a stop. The old dowdy stuff is to distract the folks who want shiny collectibles. Friendly staff, huge store, great selection, very well organized with fair prices. My only complaint is that a petite woman insisted a plus-size blouse was actually a dress and thus charged more for it. She held the 2XL Melissa McCarthy empire waist tunic against her petite frame and insisted that where the waist fell on HER is what makes it a dress and not a blouse. If a plus-size person wore this as a dress, they'd be arrested for indecent exposure, but OK. The money goes to a good cause, so, I didn't argue. I was simply trying to correct an error. I would shop here again the next time I visit family in the area - it's a great store. read more

This store is the Nordstrom of El Dorado County. $40 for fake leather, peeling boots on the interior and exterior. $40! I am a foster parent who shopped at the PV50 store several times a month. I got a 25% veteran discount OR used points which would get $10 off. Everyone got 25% off between 6-7pm every night. The prices were affordable because of these discounts that helped people like me on a fixed income. It ALSO moved the merchandise! Snowline has gaylords (massive bins) full of stored items with more coming in daily. There is NO shortage of FREE items they receive. Because of the discounts, I came in often! I was always loyal, and came to Snowline before Walmart, Ross or Target. All my transactions at this store were $100 or more after the discounts! I did this weekly, sometimes twice a week for years. Well, with new management everything good about this store is GONE! Along with it, my loyalty as a customer. The same month management removed the 25% off (reduced it to 10%) for Veterans, employees asked you to round up your total at the register for Veterans. If you wanted to help Veterans you could of kept the 25% off!!! At the register, employees are obsessive about checking the worn shoes for the silver sharpie that they use to mark them at $30-40. I saw a woman trying to buy her Daughter a pair of white boots during our recent torrential rain down pour. They were Walmart Time&Tru brand ($14.88 at Walmart). I helped translate for her, because Snowline priced them at $20 and the woman had to put them back. (Way to go upper management! Does that make you feel good?) Charging $5 more than what they are new is ridiculous! I explained to her in Spanish that she should put them back and buy them new at Walmart. In the new 'Boutique' I was in shock. The management and employees pricing merchandise are delusional! 100% delusional! They clearly have NO knowledge of brands, quality, materials, age etc.. in the 'botique' I observed a mens windbreaker jacket with a 'San Diego' logo, from a souvenir shop. It had no hood, and one of the pull cords at the waist was completely stretched out dragging the floor. If this sounds appealing, it can be yours at the Snowline boutique for $45! Used high heels, old purses with rusted clasps.. all $35 and up. Debbie was at the register in the boutique and repeatedly told an older woman how great a $65 sweater looked on her. The woman was tiny, and the sweater was massive on her, the woman said it was too big, but Debbie pushed again, about how so cute it was. I listened in.. and it was so bothersome, I walked by to check the tag and price and told the woman it was $65 and I agreed, much too big. The brand was 'Sonoma' which is from Kohls, (about $20 new) Snowline listed it for $65! My purchase that day was for a pair of gloves. 1 item. Typically, I would of had a cart full. In line, several people were buying Christmas Decor. I quickly recognized a woman in front of me likely in her 70's buying 2 strands of garland. Each garland piece was $35! New, you can get these at Michael's or Walmart for $12.99. I started a conversation with her and showed her, they would be $70 and she was shocked! Thankfully, she put them back before she was ripped off by Snowline. It's quite comical how much scotch tape the staff uses to wrap that price tag on, they want to make sure that $35 tag doesn't come off! I browsed through the Christmas decor in shock of the prices, $65-120 for wreaths with lights, a light up reindeer for your yard you could buy at Home Depot for $60 was marked at $120 used! Small, dollar tree ornaments, were $6.99 each. (They are 2/$1 at Dollar Tree. I own the exact ones. I will add 1 positive; the price on house shoes has not increased from $1.25. This is the only good buy I found. Buy them before management starts to mark them up to $25 with their delusional pricing. After I purchased gloves, I left the store knowing it would be my last visit. Seeing Seniors being haggled to buy a $65 used Kohls sweater, parents leaving without boots and coats for their kids, is too much for me. It's a greed my heart cannot understand. It's manipulating senior buyers and people on low incomes that might not understand they are being ripped off. Snowline says they help people on Hospice care, but they do that by ripping other people off. Is that truly a good deed? I called corporate and was told that last year Snowlines profits were only... 1 million! They also purchased a new point of sale system/registers... so that was the reason they now needed $40 for used converse sneakers. As customers leave to buy new household items, clothes and goods at Ross & Walmart for cheaper than this store, perhaps then there will be self reflection on what management did to what was a GREAT store in our community. This used to be my goto until whoever took over the place a few years ago raised rates substantially. Now they get free furniture and sell at market rates instead of a modest profit. It's now a get for free but sell as if it's antique store. Just walked the floor and saw $85, $300, for small/medium used free furniture they received. Won't be going back....sigh. read more

I always find cool stuff in Snowline thrift stores. I found a Stanley #1 hand plane a few weeks ago. Not in perfect condition, but still a good find. They also had 5.11 pants in new condition for under 10 bucks. The employees are friendly and help me out when I have a question. read more

This is a thrift store, full of old dishes, crystal,a den tarnished silver that no one wants anymore. I'm sure many customers have a limited income but this store, like many thrift stores of late, have outrageous prices for worn out stuff. I have been going to Snowline for years, but I've noticed in the last year that the prices have begun to creep up to levels that match retail in many instances. Snowline and many other thrift stores need to remember they are donations based and that we who are customers are also the ones doing the donating. We realize that this is a business that supports hospice patients, but it is striking that thrift stores like this are resorting to overpricing goods they freely get. It's a sad thing to see such a worthwhile charity go this direction. I went to one other Snowline store today just to see how it was looking and the store was noticeably lacking in donations. It's clear that the public is less than amused with the direction that many donations-based thrifts haven taken and it's being reflected in the more than apparent lack of serious donations. I actually saw a frying pan that was used priced for $22!!!! I can get a brand new seasoned frying pan off Amazon for just slightly more! Only a few years ago, I got a similar one at Snowline for $7. This is just plain shameful to see and there can be no justification of this level of pricing these used goods. The only reason I'm giving this an "A-Ok" rating is that most of the staff interactions have been pretty good and I have no complaints there. The people who do the work should be celebrated. The people doing the pricing? I think some work is needed there. Bottom line: What will happen is a decline in donations across the chain because of the overpricing. I've decided to switch to other thrift stores as a result and hope Snowline returns to it's roots and remembers why it has thrift stores. Sad to see, but it's time to recognize that the name "thrift store" means "thrifty" and not "boutique". read more

I was looking for items for a themed party for my daughter's class and found everything I needed in one fell swoop, here, at Snowline Thrift. I got beautiful crystal glasses, a table cloth, centerpieces, and a set of lovely Mikasa dishes. Not only we're the items really nice, but they were a steal deal! What would have cost me at least a couple hundred bucks at regular retail prices cost only about $50 here. Amazing! read more

I hadn't been to this thrift store since just before the pandemic, it used to be a really good store but not anymore. They can't seem to decide whether they are an antique shop or a thrift store. First they know nothing about antiques or art but want antique shop prices for what is mostly junk shop stuff. Secondly, they have forgotten why people shop at thrift stores. They are being idiotically short sighted and greedy. I don't know who's pricing their art but it's a joke, cheap reproductions priced as real art. The same is true of their collectables, they do not have a clue. Broken and damaged stuff should be thrown out not priced as useful goods. I see no reason to ever go back. read more
