I stopped by here while on the way to a business dinner right after hopping off the LIRR. I felt a little tired so I figured I'd get myself a quick coffee. The smell of bagels quickly made me craving one but with dinner quick approaching I thought to myself.... "ohhh what the heck I haven't eaten all day!" and ordered a plain bagel with cream-cheese, lox, tomato and onion. When it comes to bagels, I've been strictly order everything bagels for the last 10 years however I didn't have to deal with seeds in my teeth just 20 minutes before a business meeting. The lady at the counter (shame on me for not asking her name!) was soo sweet and friendly and made me feel like her favorite customer, despite it being my first time. I posted up in one of the booths by the window and had a very relaxing and happy moment just to myself. The bagel was the perfect balance of soft and firm and the lox tasted fresh. I stopped in because I saw the sign along Sunrise and was looking for a quick breakfast fix on the way to work. I went in, even though the store front looked a little intimidating. I figured it was like a mom & pop local ownership. I proceeded anyway. Inside the shop has places for customers to sit down and dine in to enjoy their meals. However, it did look a little run down not too appealing to the eye. The aroma though, made me stay . It is hard to find a nice bagel shop on LI that'll make your breakfast to order without being in a restaurant or diner. I ordered home fries, made myself some tea and grabbed an OJ for the road. It was quick and very affordable. When I got to work and dived in, I found the potatoes to be hard and undercooked. Still very raw, they seasoned it well but because of the texture it wasn't even worth the savory presentation anymore. I would give them a second try due to the reviews but if they don't use frozen potatoes or cook their potatoes all the way through, I'd pass next time. read more

We came here because my neighbor lost her phone at the bar next door. I was hungry so it was a good time to see how they really taste. I ordered an everything bagel with scallion cream cheese. The bagel was fresh and nicely toasted. They put bunches of cream cheese so that was good for me. The only thing I would have liked was to have more "everything " on the bagel. It was sparsely sprinkled with stuff and so I didn't get an everything taste. As to the environment, it was plainly decorated, nothing fancy. It was relatively clean. I would go again. read more

Although my wife and I prefer another bagel place in the area, we decided to divert from our typical weekend routine and give "Not Just Bagels" a shot, in part for convenience and in part for the positive reviews. Unfortunately, the bagels merely made us both go "eh". The best part of this place is the staff (the guys working here are very friendly and service-oriented). Otherwise, with so much competition in the area, I'd choose to return to our regularly scheduled bagel stop. Let's start with the store itself. Not Just Bagels is your typical hole-in-the-wall bagel shop (often a sign of a home run deli, bakery or pizzeria). You'll find a few booths (nothing out-of-this-world comfortable but certainly functional), some refrigerators for cold beverages and your typical deli counter. Is it gorgeous inside? No. Does it matter? Certainly not. Time and money should be spent on food quality and cleanliness in a place like this. Again, service here is great as well. The staff is kind, efficient, and friendly--everything you want from a local shop. How are the bagels? They're fine. I was surprised to see only a few options available (we're talking maybe 12-15 varieties of bagel, which isn't "small" but really just covers the basics... plain, egg, everything, sesame, cinnamon raisin, etc.). Nevertheless, they did have the bagels my wife and I normally prefer to eat, so that was a plus for us (most places have these bagels anyway, though). We took our bagels to go and opened them at home as soon as we got back. Both bagels were room temperature and on the hard side (the type that you would enjoy more if it were toasted but doesn't necessarily *need* to be toasted quite yet... I'm sure you've experienced the type) but we did eat everything and felt mostly satisfied. Again, bagel competition on Long Island is fierce. If you take a tourist here, they'll still be impressed. Decent spot for breakfast. But then again it's not just breakfast because it's Not Just Bagels.. lmao yep pun intended. It's a bagel store but they also do sandwiches and sell muffins, danishes, drinks, chips, coffee, newspapers, etc. Today was my second time trying them out because they're not too far from where I get my hair done. I walked in a was greeted by the owner and he took my order (bacon egg & cheese on an everything bagel) and I promise you in 2-3 minutes I already was seated with my food. Nothing fancy. But they have bench style booths you can sit at if you want to eat there. The breakfast sandwich is always on point and he cooks it to perfection. The bagel is always fresh. It's not exactly cheap but it's worth it. The parking is ok-- not the best but make sure you put money in the meter because I wouldn't chance it. I would like to try the "other than bagel" options they make. Maybe next time.. today I say the special was a philly cheese steak and if I wasn't in the breakfast mood then I know I would've jumped on that asap lol. read more

Got a bacon egg and cheese on a wrap and and everything bagel with cc for my lady. The wrap was real good, they even pressed it in I'm guessing a panini press so it was nice and hot and the wrap was toasted. The everything bagel however had too much salt according to my gf so 4 stars. read more

Very nice little place to eat for breakfast they have seats so you can sit while waiting for your food and then go out and eat outside their ventures just a nice little place to eat a very reasonable breakfast bagels rolls omelets regular sandwiches lunch's cereals. Place is disturbing. Smells like beef and cheese, not just making an elf reference. I went in there to obtain a tasty muffin, and when I ordered it I couldn't help but realize that there were flies all over it. The workers there fail to speak the native language. First of all the service took wayy too long, and the entire room had a really bad, dirty vibe to it. and they decided to put mayo on my sandwich (which traditionally does not have mayo on it) without ever specifying it anywhere or ASKING me if I wanted it. Found this spot taking back roads from East Rockaway and I'm glad I did. Its a clean little spot. So my fiance and I walked in and he ordered a sausage egg and cheese on a everything egg bagel and I ordered a bacon, scrambled egg and cheese on a roll. Our sandwiches came with 2 free small coffees or juice which is perfect. We took the coffee and brought everything home. The sandwiches were amazing!! They made it exactly how we asked and the coffee was great too (self serve). They added the perfect amount of cheese and salt/pepper and my fiance and I are happy diners. We will be back and we recommend this place to anyone looking for great breakfast sandwiches. read more

A decent quality spot to get a bagel or an egg sandwich. The staff is friendly. There's not a huge variety compared to some other delis but there's enough to get most people what they need. The location couldn't be more convenient as it's right near the sunrise/broadway intersection. It's right on the way to the train and there's plenty of parking nearby. My one biggest complaint is that in the morning most people going in are on their way to catch the train and time is of the essence. They seem to be a bit slow which often times results in walk outs because people can't wait that long. read more

Walk into a what seems to be an unsanitary establishment, bland decor, but that's beside the point. I can get past the horrible ambiance, but when the food is moldy, that's where I draw the line. Great fast and friendly service! Today I called a few minutes ahead for a pickup and they had it ready for me in perfect timing! I also really love that I can bring my laptop here for a few hours and get some work done while I have my favorite breakfast. I had a bad experience here. My order was messed up- there was a miscommunication. When I brought it up to them - The manager/Owner yelled at me ( I'm not quite sure how that is okay to do to a customer) - stating she wasn't going to remake the food and waste her money on me- I gave her my untouched* food & I told her she could throw it out . Bought a bagel yesterday that was extremely stale and could not be sliced with a knife. I eventually gave up and threw it in the garbage. Quality & service no longer exists at Not Just Bagels.
