It pains me to leave this review, but I feel it's fair to share an honest experience. The food itself is good, fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared but unfortunately, the pricing doesn't match the overall experience. Two chicken skewers with a side of rice and potatoes cost $20, a regular gyro is $20, hummus as an appetizer is $8, a cup of soup is $8, and a Greek salad is $14. For what is essentially casual Mediterranean food, these prices feel quite high. The restaurant seems caught somewhere between a quick-service gyro spot and a full-service dining restaurant. You order at the counter, receive a number, and the food is brought to your table, which makes the service feel fairly basic. There's nothing wrong with that style of service, but the pricing reflects more of a sit-down restaurant experience with full table service. Overall, the food is enjoyable, but the value just isn't there for me. If prices were more aligned with the casual service model, I would be much more likely to return. As it stands, it's hard to justify spending this much for a meal that feels closer to fast-casual dining than a traditional restaurant experience. read more

Such a great addition to the area. This counter service, fast casual restaurant offers an awesome menu with delicious food. There's nothing else in the area like it. They even have a drive through and catering options. The staff was very friendly and informative. They had a huge gluten free menu to choose from and everything we tried was very tasty. My favorite was the Nostimo Bowl and Greek Potatoes. They also serve alcohol and have a ton of unique non-alcoholic drink options as well. I was amazed at how busy it became at 5pm on a Saturday - it's clear they've become a favorite for many! Looking forward to coming back soon. read more

So food and service were great, but this restaurant is not getting more starts from me because I cannot in good conscience go back to a restaurant where they do not have paper towels available in the washrooms or the hands free door opener, aka, the thing on the bottom of the door you pull with your foot. All the restaurants in Greece are extremely sanitary like this, so if Nostimo really wants to be like those eateries in practice and not just in decoration, they will reconsider their bathroom setup. Let me see where to begin...for an appetizer we had the 3 dips with pita bread. I really enjoyed the tzatziki dip and my husband, mother and son liked the hummus and the tirokafteri. The tirokafteri altho yummy was quite spicy to someone who doesn't like spicy. Let me also say the service was excellent. We had someone helping us or asking if we needed help from the minute we got there. The restaurant is set up with lots of tables, inside and out and the outside tables had umbrellas. There is a cashier and that is the place that you order your food and they give you a number to put at your table. The menu is lit up and on the wall where you order and if you need to you can grab a menu and sit down and decide what you want. We ordered Greek chicken, chicken gyro, and 2 Grecian beef souvlaki. The chicken gyro came alone on a plate but it was huge! It had tomatoes, lettuce, onions, French fries and spices with a mustard sauce. The Greek chicken was 1/2 a chicken boneless with ladolemono, Greek lemon potatoes or rice or hand cut fries and a mustard sauce. Then the guys had the beef souvlaki. It looked absolutely delicious. It was a 12 oz filet mignon that was sliced crosswise so there was quite a few pieces on a stick with some small pieces of onion on with the steak. They literally sliced like butter and they tasted delicious. While we were sitting we were looking at all the people coming thru and this gal kept making sure we had everything we needed. Then all of a sudden she came to our table with 4 little squares of baklava. I did ask her what her name was and she replied, "Susan , I am the manager". You could not get a nicer and more helpful manager. What a wonderful asset to their staff. The dessert was delicious too. All in all we had a terrific experience and would definitely go back. Amazing! This Greek restaurant opened about a month ago and it was excellent. Nicely decorated with a clean aesthetic, with some traditional flare. . You order at the counter and food is delivered to your table. Service was very quick and attentive. My husband had a gyros sandwich. He ordered it with rice, but it came with fries and they quickly corrected the mistake. I had the Greek salad, which was large enough for us to share. We also had the zucchini fritters, lightly battered and so good. We had warm pita bread and the owner stopped by our table with baklava. The experience and the meal were excellent. read more

Wow! The food at Nostimo is absolutely delicious! Hubs and I wanted something different for lunch and quick at the same time. We wanted sit down, but nothing too heavy. Walking in we are welcomed with Greek music, staff that is smiling, and a relaxed atmosphere. You place your order at the far end of the restaurant which is so smart. There's plenty of room to stand while you wait to order and for the people waiting for their orders to be ready for take out, they don't have to weave thru a line of people waiting to order when they have their food (did that make sense?). The menu is on a well light screen and a nice large font (perfect for an oldie like me who needs cheaters while wearing my contacts)! The menu isn't lengthy, but there is just about something for everyone. The woman taking our order was so friendly and welcoming! We had saganaki fritters which is the flaming cheese without the flame, but in nice sized round balls. It was so ooey gooey and tasted just like saganaki! Hubs had the Grecian Beef Souvlaki and I ordered the side of Chicken Kalamakia. The beef souvlaki is filet mignon on skewers! Sooooo tender and flavorful! My chicken was cooked perfect and juicy! Let me pause here and tell you about the pita that came with our proteins - WOW! This is not your typical pita! It's soft, fluffy, with a nice tender chew and had so much flavor on its own! I could sit and eat several of them on their own with their tangy, fresh tzatziki sauce! Last we finished the meal with an order of loukoumades. It comes with a choice of thyme honey (which I'm used to eating loukoumades with) or Nutella... tough choice right?! The lovely woman taking our order helped me out by throwing in a side of Nutella so I can try it both ways! These little warm, melty balls of dough are SOOOOO delicious! They were the perfect end to our lunch! OH ... and Nutella -wowza! Definitely a win for anyone loving chocolate and hazelnut (like me)! The woman taking our order came by our table and asked if we wanted the loukoumades with our food or a bit after our food was ready. That's incredible service (!!!) and we opted for a bit after. She said she'd let the kitchen know to hold the dessert for a bit. Everything we had was cooked perfectly and tasted like I was visiting a Greek neighbor's house for their home cooked food! Completely forgot to take pics of the food before devouring it all. The ambiance was relaxed and welcoming. The service was so friendly! First time here since moving to the area. Our food was authentic and delicious. Staff was so friendly, the young girl at the register offered suggestions of her favorites, and one of the other women walked table to table asking about our experiences and what she could do for us. This place was packed at 6pm on a Saturday night. It's order at the counter and they deliver the food to your table. We had a burger and a chicken gyro pita. The mustard sauce is amazing! I wish I had some on the side to dip fries in. This place certainly isn't lacking in flavor and the decor is modern and nice. I'm not sure if they have a drive thru that's actually open or not but they do have the setup for it. We will definitely be back! read more

I have had way better Greek sit down as well as takeout and we were really disappointed with this establishment. The inside of the restaurant is clean and pretty, but the food was disappointing. The portion size to price was insulting. We ordered pork souvlaki sandwiches, 1 kids gyro, a village salad with grilled chicken and 1 avgolemono soup (which did not even come with bread), and it was over $80. The souvlaki sandwiches had 4 small pieces of pork on it with fries in the pita and was loaded with paprika. The village salad was subpar, and the vinaigrette was extremely bitter. Nostimo restaurant in Arlington Heights Illinois is one of the most perfect experiences. The Greek food here is better than any of the high-end super expensive Greek restaurants that have been in Illinois for decades. When you walk in, you will see an extremely modern sit down restaurant where you order your food at the counter. You take a sit at your table and your food is brought to you. You are able to go and get your own drink which I love no waiting on waitresses or waiters. I have died here two times in a week. My go to is the chicken kebab dinner with rice pilaf my wife always gets the Greek chicken dinner with roasted potatoes and a side of hummus. This is the most juicy moist chicken I've ever had from any Greek restaurant let a alone from any restaurant for that matter. The staff is super friendly that brings your food to the table. We've been here twice and already our server said good to see you again. There is so much flavor in the chicken it is not overly salted. The rice is fluffy and delicious. The potatoes are perfectly roasted. There are so many items on this menu. I need to try when I go back. I saw other patrons order their gyros and it looked absolutely fabulous. On our first visit, one of the workers passed around a tasting of their baklava it was sweet and delicious. Definitely would have to get a full size version of that. They also have a drive-through which I do not know how they are able to also work a drive-through this restaurant is pretty busy. I was nervous actually to do this because I did not want to become even more busy. My only complaint is that it can be a bit pricey when you start ordering the dinners. But the quality is a matched. Went here after finding it on Yelp. The place was popping for early dinner on a Sunday, so it seems that has got around that it's good despite being newly opened. Was pleased to see they have a drive thru, although it's not open yet (I imagine they're trying to ease into the swing of things). They did have a separate section inside for pickup, so that's an option if you're not looking to dine in. The interior is decorated nicely and they played greek music. A random side note, but the soap in the bathroom smells so fresh and clean. You order at a counter and the menu is on a large screen on the wall (it can also be found online in case you want to prepare your order ahead of time). Some people might consider prices to be too high, but I think for the quality and amount of food they're more than justified, especially with fast food places charging similarly or more without the same quality. Your food and silverware/plates are brought to your table or you can grab them yourself from the counter. Additionally, the workers clear your table during/after your meal. You don't have a single server, but there are plenty of staff buzzing about to take care of things for you, which was nice. I tried the spanakopita and the chicken kalamakia with the Greek potatoes as a side. Everything was DELICIOUS. I don't have greek food often, but after this meal, I am looking forward to exploring the rest of the menu. The portions are plentiful despite potentially not looking like much at first glance, and everything tasted fresh. Both the appetizer and the entree were served quickly even though they were busy. Highlights from the meal were definitely the spanakopita in all of their glory, as well as the tzatziki, the chicken, and the potatoes from the entree. My family ordered takeout from Nostimo's and were surprised by the mediocre food quality, especially given the high yelp ratings (4.5). Nostimo's Gyro sandwiches were filled with tasty, but dry meat. No tzatziki sauce was inside. They just splashed a teaspoon on top. I've had so many great gyros in Chicago where the sauce is running down your forearm. You won't need many napkins. Their menu says gyros come with fries. By that they mean they only put two french fries inside each sandwich. No fries on the side like their menu implies. It was so dry that I had to pour the bland greek salad dressing over the meat to make it edible. The $13.59 Greek salad was 90% chopped romaine lettuce with old tomatoes and a few slices of cucumbers. It seemes like it cost them $1.50 for the ingredients. They tell you it has feta cheese, but that's only a spoon full of crumby crumbled feta. The olives were good and had pits so someone is going to crack a tooth. The dressing tasted like cheap, bland oil and salt and pepper. Absolutely no flavor. When I initially saw the 4.5 yelp rating, I was so excited about eating great Greek food in the burbs. But when we sat down at the kitchen table to eat Nostimo's food, we were all very disappointed. It felt like their management is trying to skimp out to save money. More amazing, the place was packed and there was a line of people waiting for takeout, leaning against the wall, who appeared to have been waiting awhile. Maybe there are so few really goòd Greek food establishments these days that many people don't know the difference. It's located a little bit outside Chicago in the northern suburbs, but certainly worth the trip. It makes some amazing food in a fast casual dining setting. If you served me this food at a sit down Greek restaurant, I would think it was just that. I ordered the pork gyros, lamb chops, crispy calamari, fries and ice cream with baklava crisps & Greek honey for dessert. I live everywhere I order, but my favorite were the lamb chops. They were tender, flavorful and frankly better that some lamb chops had in full sit down restaurants in Chicago. This is a must order. For dessert you must get ice cream with baklava crisps & Greek honey, it's so yummy and I've haven't seen anything else like it in any other restaurant. Second, the ambience and decor are very nice. Although it's a quick serve restaurant, you feel like you are in a sit down restaurant. I particularly like the light fixtures and plants (might be faux) hanging from the ceiling. Third, that service is fast and friendly. After ordering, I received my food quickly and it was hot and fresh. In sum, this Greek restaurant has the best of both worlds.
