Astonishing. Two excellent jobs performed by ace lock and key. Eithan (pronounced Issa) was once…read moreagain the guy I would hire. In my first review, the biggest concern was the installation of a high-end lock. High-end locks tend to have a lot of technical detail which I have outlined previously. I submitted my request for a locksmith to duplicate my car key to Yelp projects. For some bizarre reason, I thought that locksmiths might split into two groups. A) locksmith that specialize in installing high-end locks and B) locksmith that duplicated electronic car keys. So I ran a fresh Yelp project search. Once again, I am happy to be wrong. Once again, Issa was the locksmith who went the extra mile and made sure he knew what was going on with the key before he accepted the job. His cost estimate was more than reasonable. Even compared to very competitive alternatives. I had called the dealership and gotten estimates of how much it would cost to duplicate the key. It's no surprise that compared to any locksmith, the price was exorbitant. Even the dealership was unable to recommend the OEM duplicate because it was just completely unreasonable. They recommended the lowest cost key that worked. They displayed absolutely no surprise at the difference in price between a locksmith and the dealership and were quite congenial about recommending the locksmith. The one con about the lowest cost duplicate is longevity. They tend not to last as long. But a significant portion of the population won't actually keep the car long enough to wear out the duplicate. And for the price you can afford at least two duplicates compared to the OEM. In addition, I thought that the equipment to duplicate an electronic lock would be bulky and I thought I would have to drive to the home location of the locksmith in order to get it duplicated. Once again, I am happy to be completely wrong. Issa drove over to my place, the equipment needed was completely mobile. Depending on the key, the duplication varies from half an hour to one hour. Because Issa offers such reasonable rates additional cost may be added to the bill should they be necessary. Turns out for my car he didn't have the security codes. Purchasing the security code was a very reasonable $25. In addition, it's best if you can pay Issa with cash or perhaps a personal check. He adds whatever percentage the credit card company is charging him for the transaction. Even with the small additional costs, the final price remained the most competitive. Issa makes generous time estimates for his arrival. He estimated arrival in a half an hour and gave me the heads up via text, but arrived early. Once again, I had some admittedly, obscure and rather nitpicky questions about the state of the art in criminal activities related to locks and how to protect myself. Once again,Issa displayed comprehensive knowledge about the topic. One key point. Issa double checked to make sure I was the registered owner of the car. Now with my previous lock, I already had the keys so it's fairly obvious I owned the lock. No locksmiths likes to be hired to essentially break in to somebody else's place. I'm a little vague on the details, but I believe locksmiths can be held legally accountable in such situations. At the very least, they can lose their license. As in forever. I admit the duplication of an electronic key for an automobile seems relatively straightforward and simple compared to my previous installation of a high-end lock. It demands a lot more expert knowledge on the part of the locksmith and wide understanding of the field to deal with these locks. But maybe electronic locks are in fact, highly technical and Issa made it look easy. It's easy to tell the make of the car just by looking at the key, but he knew the year. Now this is something I normally don't notice but Issa is a congenial and friendly guy. I found his manner reassuring. He displayed no impatience whatsoever with my questions both amateur or obscure.

We were scammed by the company. Avoid at all costs…read more We called them for two car doors that recently stoped locking/unlocking with two keys that worked just yesterday. One of the two keys were bent, but we were concerned the issue was the lock and not the key. The office said it would be $29 for a tech to come out, but then the tech said it would be $89 sent directly to his Venmo before work started. We then ask the locksmith if they can start with lock lubricant instead of making a key, as they quoted us $185 to make a key with no chip. That's an insane price. They said they were confident the key wasn't the issue, and after a lot of arguing (all caught on our security camera) the tech said that if the key isn't the issue, and it just needed lubricant , he would Venmo us back the $185. He makes the key, and it doesn't work on either door. He starts to tell us it's some issue with the door itself, like a spring or something. I ask him to just try the lubricant like we first asked, then all of the keys worked (including the bent one). We then ask him to Venmo us back the $185 as we don't need the key, and he starts to argue that he already made it. We then argue for a while about how he said if the key wasn't the issue, and it was the lubricant we asked him to start with from the get go, he would refund us (also caught on our security camera). He then gets made and drives off. We called the company and asked for a refund, and they said because he made the key it's non refundable. They said there is no available supervisor to speak with. Avoid this business at all costs. No one should require a personal Venmo payment before service, and if they say that they'll refund you it's a lie. The employee's name is Michael Rogers.

I was quoted $120 over the phone to open the car, $180 for a non-chip key, and $280 for a chip key. The prices were exactly as Gil described over the phone, no hidden fees. Gil was very knowledgable and quick, his prices were fair based on other estimates I saw online as well. He was very professional and came quickly as well.
