Northside Pet Services provides a wide variety of pet- related services in your home or ours. We can do everything from pet/house-sitting and dog walking, boarding, care for geriatric or special needs pets, post op care, hospice care, insulin injections, transportation, shopping and other in-home veterinary nursing care. We are a superior SERVICE minded company with impeccable references. Most importantly, we LOVE pets! We also have a sister company, Charlie's Chillers Gourmet Dog Bakery. Charlie's Chillers handcrafts gourmet, healthy frozen and bakery treats for dogs. Our products are made with all human-grade ingredients, organic when possible. They do not contain any wheat, soy or corn, additives, artificial flavors or dyes. We specialize in fancy, personalized dog birthday cakes.
History
Established in 1995.
In 1995, while working as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in a small animal hospital
(BRAC), I discovered that there were many pet owners who wanted an alternative to traditional boarding of their beloved pets. Since establishing the business 20 years ago, we have added specialized services that can be customized to each family's needs. The pet sitters contracted by NPS all have a personal relationship with Sherri, the owner. The business continues to grow at a rate that is conducive to keeping the high standards that are required to meet our client's needs. We try very hard to provide consistent care by establishing a relationship between the family and the sitter so that care is familiar to the pet and the care of the home and routines are understood by a limited number of caregivers. NPS currently only employs 8 sitters including the owner ( 3 are Sherri's children) This is in keeping with our philosophy that limited caregivers in a home provide the best most consistent service.
Meet the Business Owner: Sherri C.
I grew up in a rural community in NC. I always had lots of animals and my grandfather owned an exotic animal zoo. I attended the University of NC in Chapel Hill, studying Biology. I worked in several animal related careers including as a toxicology research scientist, an instructor the University of NC Medical School and Stanford University teaching aseptic surgical techniques in the dog labs and cat intubation to pediatric residents. I also worked as the Executive Director of the Orange County Animal Shelter in Chapel Hill. I attended Veterinary Nursing School in NC. I moved to California, Florida and here to Indianapolis in 1991. I worked as a Veterinary Nurse at The Broad Ripple Animal Clinic and The Emergency Clinic on Bash. In 1997, I attended graduate school at Butler University and began my other career as a Science teacher in MSDWT in 2000 where I still teach. In 2005 I obtained a Masters degree in Administration at IU. I started NPS in 1995 and love my clients and their pets.
