Ask the Community - Headlee's Kennels

Do you groom large breeds? I have Newfoundland that needs bath and haircut. Coming from Colorado this humidity is killing us! Need under belly shaved pretty low leaving top and skirt. Under chin and neck needs shaved too.?

I’m sorry but we do not offer grooming at this time, only boarding and bathing. I do have a groomer that I take our dogs to and I highly recommend. Her name is Tammy Craig at TLC Dog Grooming her business is in her attached garage 765-238-0674

I have boarded with 6 other boarding facilities prior to Sue and have had issues with every other one. Sue is the first person to ever take care of my dog the way that I am comfortable with, and money was never even on my mind when looked for a place for her to stay. However, it is worth noting that Sue is surprisingly affordable so she really just wins all the way around! I felt like Sue really listened to me about concerns and nerves, and the best example of this is with Hazel's paws. I told her that she always ends up with cuts on her paws when boarding for some reason, and other places always miss it and one even told me with 100% confidence that she was in heat. My dog is spayed and was not in heat, she just had a cut paw. I didn't even ask her to do this, but Sue frequently checked Hazel's paws because of this concern! I had only mentioned it in case she found blood, but she decided to check throughout the week and Hazel never had any cuts! My dog cannot be with other dogs while I am away because one time at a different boarding place, she was being rude to another dog (trying to get him to play when he didn't want to), and that dog ended up biting her. Sue doesn't just throw dogs together and hope it works out, she spends time getting to know your dog and works with them as an individual. I liked this instead of the pack mentality that you find at a lot of other places. From what I understand, she would put your own dogs together though, so if you have more than one, they would be able to play. Another thing I really liked was that Hazel has trust issues when it comes to people taking her out to potty, so she always has accidents unless it is me, my fiancé, or my parents taking care of her. It took us a long time to get her fully potty trained with just us! Sue told me to just bring back the blanket next time and she's comfortable working with her trying to help her understand to go outside during boarding as well. Also, despite all of her accidents, she didn't come home crusted in urine. At some other facilities it has been so bad that we have to carry her in and bathe her immediately. Hazel at least wasn't sitting in her own pee for hours, and Sue washed the blanket every time she peed on it. Additionally, the communication with Sue was really good. She responded to texts on the same day, and was able to provide pictures and updates on Hazel whenever I requested it! If you talk to her on the phone or in person, you're going to pick up on the fact that she really is a dog person right away. My gut just told me "YES" when I talked to her for the first time. Then, when we came in, she was happy to show us where Hazel would be staying, even though they were right in the middle of a hectic cleaning! As for cleanliness, they clean every morning. Dogs are definitely housed there, but it doesn't smell like some other facilities where it reeks of urine and unwashed dog, so you can tell they take cleaning seriously! Lastly, something you wouldn't think I would have to mention but clearly do after my experiences at other places, Sue actually fed my dog! I always portion out Hazel's meals, and every time I picked her up from somewhere else, there were some that were not fed to her. Sue used all the baggies with food, so I'm glad my baby got to eat! Hazel only gets a blanket because she chews up her beds during boarding usually, but you're free to bring your own bedding here too! The floors are heated as well in the winter. Overall, I'm going to be coming back for sure! She's wonderful and cares for my dog! If you care about quantity of reviews, check out Google, there were more on there when I posted there too!

My review of Barkefellers has taken some time to think on. My experience was great... then…read morequestionable... then great again. Let's start from the beginning. I needed a place to board my dog over New Year's Eve that wasn't outrageously priced, but still going to give my dog quality care. For many major holidays boarding locations will charge 3x and 4x the standard rates or require membership packages for boarding. I started calling around in November. My boyfriend suggested Barkefellers because he's been living in the Noblesville area and heard good things. We called and got all the information I needed from the company and they were very receptive to all my questions we probably spent 20 minutes on the phone voicing all my concerns. I was confident of this place was going to offer great care for a decent price. In December I learned that my dog was not big enough for one of her vaccinations and got her signed off that this was the case I took this paperwork by Barkefellers and they were happy to tell me that this would be fine as long as there was proof from the paperwork. I was also informed that because of this, and the fact that she was not fixed yet (she is 5 months old), she would be able to receive one-on-one attention that way she could get out of the cage to play. Once again I left feeling great. I made an account online and added all of my records and debit card in advance. When it got to the day of the appointment things went a little sour. I feel bad for the girl training at the desk. One of her superiors came in and told her everything that she was doing was wrong. She had to re-fill out all of the paperwork again because the stuff that was filled out online was apparently not correct, even though we'd been previously told it was perfect.. after it was all said and done and after many questions from both parties, it was time to leave bowie. Several staff members had dropped by to say they were excited to play with my girl. However this lady at the desk continued to apply pressure. I took out my card because we've been under the impression that all the information was gone Just to be told by the same person but the card was on file and the charges would be added up at the end. I left very confused at what I was paying for because it seemed as though it had been switched around and also unsure of what information they had from me. I got to the car only to realize I'd left Bowie's toys so I went back inside to drop them off. When I got back in, this individual was going off. "I don't understand what they were thinking." The training desk girl looks up, mortified at what her superior is saying with me behind her. I simply laughed, unsure of where I'd gone wrong to seem so clueless and dropped off the toys. I was nervous about what I'd done all the way to my New Years event. My boyfriend called and got clarification. The price was the same and the care was still going to be excellent. And this is how it remained. Bowie lost a tooth while she was there. They kept it in a baggie for us. They made her a little report card and posted on Instagram about how they simply loved having her. I will absolutely be returning but I do think there's room to say that the staff at this location might not always be on the same page. Feel free to ask questions because each person I got on the phone and who specialized in service at the desk was absolutely lovely and Bowie came home the happiest and best behaved dog I have seen her.

I give personal attention. When you call, I answer the phone, when there is a meet and greet, it is with me, I am the one who cares for your pets and the one who will text you with updates on them while you are gone. I do not have employees (I am far too picky) nor do I farm out jobs to family and friends..I keep my client base small (although will not refuse a new member joining our family if its possible). That way I can give the attention to your babies that I would demand for mine!
