Chipped Beef w/ Fried Potatoes
Joshua R.

Nice diner with typical diner fare. Something about me - I LOVE chipped beef, and it's one of my favorite things to order when I visit breakfast diners. I ordered it here, and it was subpar. It wasn't bad, but I think it lacked salt or flavor - couldn't taste the beef, and the gravy was just meh. Our waitress looked came by several times to see if we needed anything, but she seemed to be unsure of herself - perhaps she is new or in training. Seemed like a lot of locals eat here - we were just visiting from out of town.

Obsessed with their chef salads. Took my mom here for lunch and the Christmas vibes and service were on point. Never had a bad experience here!

Went here for breakfast. Restaurant was roomy and clean. Breakfast of bacon egg whites and grits was good. I appreciated adding my own salt, pepper, and butter to my grits. Our order came out quickly, like 5 minutes. Service was good and friendly, we did have to ask for the check, but still, a good place to have breakfast.

I have been to Northside a couple of times this month so I will combine those two visits in my one review. Depending on the day and time you arrive, you may have a 10-minute wait for a table. This is primarily because of limited waitstaff and not their seating area. Their wait staff does an excellent job of service, bringing your food and beverages to you when your order is up and also during your meal they continue to check on you. Their mac&cheese has an excellect cheese taste and is a generous sized serving for a side. Theirs is the best mac&cheese I have had at a restaurant. All their sides are generous portions and I was surprised by the large amount of their house made potato chips served with a sandwich order. Their meatloaf is different than what you would expect at a restaurant. It is firm and drier than most and has a great meaty flavor. Their hamburgers are half price on Tuesday and you will need to ask for mayonase and mustard if you want those on your burger. I don't know the size of the hamburger patty but I do know it was a large thick hamburger patty. If you like hamburgers you will like the Northside hamburger. They have several type of burgers. My favorite is the SMO Burger. Their hamburger meat is the best and during the COVID year we bought our hamburger meat from Northside. Their fries are nothing special. Just the regular restaurant fries that go out of the bag into the grease and onto the plate. We have always liked their coffee and we always order it with whatever meal we are having at Northside. Northside serves breakfast anytime. They are closed on Monday. I have always enjoyed eating at Northside and I believe you will too.

Service is usually fantastic on even a busy day. Breakfast is the hardest because everything is delicious and plentiful. Prices are fair and the proportions are large. Pancakes...dinner plate sized. Monster cinnamon roll...bring a friend.

My wife and I joined two other neighborhood couples to enjoy half price burger night at the diner. We arrived around 7pm to catch the tail end of the dinner rush. They were able to seat us in the back dining room with the bar though with little waiting. As we were sitting down, I saw a burger go by with a delicious looking onion ring on top. Turns out that is the Western burger which my wife ordered. I ordered the Hawaiian burger and subbed onion rings for my side. One of the others tried the SMO burger as well. We all got beers on tap and they had several IPAs for me to choose from. Yay. Our burgers arrived in no time. The onion rings did not disappoint and all our burgers were delish if not slightly too large. I probably should have cut mine in half but I persevered and ate it all. I probably would try the SMO burger on another visit. That thing was smothered in Swiss cheese hiding all the grilled onions and mushrooms underneath. It looked awesome. Service was good for the evening. There was an issue with two of the bills but that got all worked out no problem. We would probably return again not on burger night though and try one or two of their Greek dishes on the menu.

Man this was a seriously good Brunch with great service. So if you're looking for that down home feel with large potions you can't go wrong with this place. The waffles was like cake and chicken crispy as can be. They cooked the scrapple perfect for my eggs.

I went there for the first time with a friend and our dogs. They have a beautiful patio and were very accommodating. The staff was very friendly and quick to bring our dogs water. The food was delicious and fast to arrive. We will definitely come back!

Atmosphere, service and food (mostly) are good, the fried chicken is amazing. $32 for a mediocre, bland rib-eye steak is my only complaint, however it was perfectly cooked. The price was more than fair had it been a better quality steak. We still love this place and will continue to visit, just not for the steak :-(

Lots to like at Smyrna!…read more I highly recommend the 3-course express lunch menu, which includes a starter and dessert. At $24 as of this writing, this is a great value! Decorated in clean blue and white colors, Smyrna has an appealing feel. Smyrna also has a rear patio open during good weather. We were started out with very decent complimentary warm pita bread. For my first (starter) course, I ordered the chicken avgolemono soup. While the soup was packed with tender chicken, I was disappointed that the soup didn't really have much of a tart, lemony flavor. It actually was bland. But what more than made up for the avgolemono soup was the beef Keftdedes I chose for my second course. This dish came with absolutely the best tomato-based sauce I've ever had anywhere anytime! Delicious and fabulous!! The beef keftdedes were plump ground beef patties served over little squares of pita bread and topped with the tomato sauce and also a yogurt sauce. JP ordered the Imam Bayildi, which was good. It came with roasted eggplant, diced tomatoes and diced onions. For our third course (dessert), I ordered the Revani, which was a moist dense semolina cake topped with ice cream and chocolate shavings. Outstanding flavor and texture. Perfect! JP ordered the walnut baklava which was excellent. Service was friendly and fine. Other than the avgolemono soup, this was indeed a five star dining experience.

I visited on a Sunday evening with some friends who hosted me in Alexandria when my flight out of DCA was postponed. I would recommend bringing a couple of friends here to dine, ordering a lot of items and sharing. We started with a couple of spreads, and the Baba Ghannush was my favorite. I also had a Greek salad, and we had some chicken souvlaki. The entrees are shareable and a large portion, and my friend also got an order of soup for the next day, since we knew we'd be snowed in. The service was wonderful, and the inside of the restaurant itself is gorgeous. One word of advice- do NOT sit near the door on a cold day because that wind kept coming into the building. The happy hour and lunch deals are excellent, so if you're nearby, it is worth stopping in.

While many servers deserve recognition, our most recent visit stood out thanks to Sam. She was friendly, helpful, courteous, and genuinely welcoming. Atmosphere: The restaurant features an open seating area, plus a separate side section with additional booths and tables. There's a subtle Greek feel to the space that adds character while still feeling casual and comfortable. Food & Popularity: Because Jimmy the Greek is so popular, wait times can vary depending on when you arrive, especially for larger parties of five or more. If you come later in the morning, they may run out of popular items like biscuits and gravy, which are signature breakfast dishes. On rare occasions, we've also experienced food that was slightly underdone (such as eggs under-cooked too soft or French toast that was a bit soggy). Overall Experience: Jimmy the Greek is one of the best breakfast spots in the Stafford/Fredericksburg area and even in several surrounding counties. Despite a few minor drawbacks, it remains one of our top breakfast choices and easily earns five stars. Our experiences have been consistently positive, and the quality of both the food and service keeps us coming back. I highly recommend giving it a try!

They have a few parking spots in the front with additional parking in the back. I would say this is more of a deli/sandwich shop featuring a few Greek items on the menu (gyros, dolmades, souvlaki, etc.) as opposed to a full-on Greek bistro/cafe. I will note that their catering does have more Greek variety (pastichio, spanakopita, moussaka, etc.). We called in a pick-up order for lunch. Online ordering is also available on DoorDash. Food was ready for pick-up within 15 minutes. I got the regular gyro on pita bread (just the sandwich, not the platter - the platter comes with a side salad... I wish they had fries as a side option instead of chips or a salad, but if they're not really frying anything else, I get it... but I digress). The gyro came with a good amount of thick slices of the gyro meat (which is a mix of beef and lamb), tomatoes, onions, and tzatziki sauce. I'm used to red onions served with my gyro, but they used white onions instead (not a big deal, but the red onions give the gyro a different bite). The gyro came in a thick, fresh pita and a small handful of potato chips (I wasn't aware that the sandwich came with any sides, so the chips were a nice surprise). No complaints about my gyro, but I would've liked some feta on my gyro and more tzatziki. I think next time, I would get the platter because then I could use the salad to add some more toppings and sauce to the gyro. Overall, the gyro was a good, filling serving size for me, and the price was reasonable at $11 for the gyro (it's $13 for the gyro platter aka gyro + side salad). We also ordered the King Gyro on pita bread (double portion of meat; $15) and the Gyro Salad ($15). The king size's gyro portion was definitely more substantial, and it also came with a handful of potato chips plus an extra container of tzatziki. The Gyro Salad was a simple Greek salad with gyro meat and pita pieces. Dressing and tzatziki were served on the side, and it was topped with feta. The veggies were fresh and crisp - again, no complaints. We also ordered a Reuben ($13) thinking it would be a classic Reuben served on rye, but note that they only have two bread options - a sub roll or pita bread. Ours was served on the roll, so it ended up being more of a Reuben sub/panini. The sandwich was still enjoyable, but it wasn't what we were expecting. My Deli & Cafe is a solid lunch option in Purcellville. Support local!
