Cheaper, more reliable (if you can believe that) and you can return something that doesn't fit, even when told it would. Or even better, go to a mom and shop hardware store and not a corporate one, although I'm sure ACE would be unhappy with this franchise's failure towards proper customer service considering the circumstances.

We would prefer stopping here since it's so close with convenient parking. However rarely have I seen service vary so much at one establishment. If you get one of younger folks they're not very helpfully or knowledgeable. In fact they make you feel like your presence is a distraction. However if you get one of older folks they know what products they have, where to find them in store and if necessary takes you to the spot. Since you don't know who you going to get we normally bypass the place unless we're pushed for time or know exactly what we're looking for and where it's located.

It can be difficult to fine assistance and the help is hit/miss... The customer service is horrible. Especially the cashiers. We stood in line while 1 cashier checked ppl out and the other played with her hair and makeup. When the cashier that was actually working told her "hey we have a lot if pol in line" the girl responded "I know" looked and the line and proceeded not to care. Once she actually began checking ppl out she was rude and seemed mad to be there working. This isn't the first time we've experienced this. The check out gals are always rude & look angry. I rarely shop there and anytime I do, it's never a pleasant experience.

Everytime I give them another chance it's disappointing, I call to order on the phone so I don't…read morehave to wait in the yard ( I e had to wait for 2 hours before) and they will not take payment on the phone or pre pull any order unless you are there in person!!!! They will deliver it for $100, I offered to pay that and have them deliver it to their own yard as a way around and I was told it was impossible. So come in at 4:10, knowing they close at 5, have to wait at the counter to get served for 20 mins, then I'm told the yard closes at 4:30 so can't collect today and will have to come back in the morning. Considering it's a lumber yard, the yard actually being open till 5, or just closing at 4:30, or mentioning it on their opening times would make sense. Turn up in the morning at 6:40, to be first through the gate at 7, to only wait 15 mins to even have my paper work looked at to pull the order. It's a terrible service. I use this place when I'm in a pinch, now I will just avoid at all costs. Doesn't matter who you are or how much you spend (I'm a contractor that spends 80-100,000 a year now else where) , they are not interested in decent customer service. Do yourself a favour and look around for a different supplier. Make this your last option.

I'm also pretty familiar with the way The Home Depot runs their stores because they used to be the only large home improvement chain in the area though perhaps not this particular store. It was either them or the local hardware store. The local hardware store was good for some small things but The Home Depot was where you did your "shopping" for this kind of stuff. Sort of like a convenience store versus a grocery store. The biggest issue I have is that if I need help I either can't find it or I only find someone that doesn't know anything about my particular item search. Luckily I know enough that I don't need any real help unless something is too big or too high to reach safely.
