I have now had the same experience twice at this location over the course of several years. The first time I came here I was accused of stealing, I was just shopping with my sister. I have been a long-time customer of ACE Hardware in Atascocita, mainly purchasing oil and supplies for my weed eaters, chainsaws, and other equipment. For parts and supplies, I have not had major issues. However, my experience with their repair service has been disappointing. I took my lawnmower in for repair due to an oil leak and was told the issue had been fixed. Shortly after picking it up, I noticed the mower was still leaking oil and had to bring it back again, which caused additional inconvenience. It appears the issue was not properly repaired the first time and may have only been temporarily treated instead of fully fixed. This resulted in wasted time and money. Because of this experience, I do not recommend ACE Hardware in Atascocita for lawnmower or equipment repairs. While purchasing supplies may be fine, the repair service did not meet my expectations. read more

Visited my local ACE to purchase paint as I am currently remodeling my kitchen area. Staff here is extremely helpful and answer questions throughly. There's also a great selection of everything you could possibly need. I've never had a situation where something I needed was out of stock here. The only downside (depending on who you are) - every time I visit, I feel some form of soliciting is going on at the entrance/exit. This time in the form of Boy Scouts. I felt bad for not supporting, but sorry, not paying nearly 30 bucks for a package of popcorn. read more

I find it very unprofessional for a manager to carry on a full conversation with his employee concerning his disagreement with Affirmative Action and having to hire minority workers. My hubby contacted me soon as he got in the car and was shocked from what he overheard. It makes total sense that I've never seen not one black employee at this store location in the last 4yrs I've lived in this area. Stopped in to pick up some plumbing supplies. I was greeted and taken to the appropriate area where the staff searched for a packaged solution. As expected, the parts I needed were not a standard size, so I was handed off to a more technical person. He walked me to another area with shelves of parts. He helped select all the parts necessary to make the perfect drain pipe. He even trimmed one of them to make installation easy. Kudos to the crew. read more

I went to the Ace Hardware / Atascocita to do a Craftsman warranty exchange and the older gray haired heavy set man at the Customer service desk told me he couldn't help me. They were unable to do the exchange because they did not stock the exact old ratchet part number (this is because Craftsman had updated the item and given it a new part number. Like they do all the time.) The Ace store only stocked the new current model number. The Craftsman warranty is that THEY are to exchange it with a like for like item. The old man looked straight at me, LIED and said he couldn't honor the warranty. Like I was stupid or something. if i need something from Ace, I'll just go to the one in Kingwood. read more

Ok so I'm a guy but this is the best toy store around. I needed a repair kit for a flapperless toilet. No one around, even the big boxes had it in stock. I order online for ship to store and it was here in three days. The store called me to advise it was in and just a quick stop at the "Hub" for Karl to close the deal. By the way, Karl is the store manager and he is always out in the store engaging folks. The Ace ads are always full of good deals but the staff make the difference. The employees here are so friendly and helpful! Every time I go in, they are fantastic! If I can get what I need here I will always shop here versus a large chain like Home Depot or Lowes. The last 6 months I have been going in there more and more and I'm here to say I'm done with this location and will never step foot in there again. The customer Service is still rude. Most of the women are snotty, stuck up employees. I will start ordering my Tyler laundry soap and candles from the Tyler's website directly or start going to hallmark in kingwood. Two months ago we rented a Uhaul to move commercial cases into a space within two miles from Ace. Being it was conveniently located so close while remodeling our commercial space we spent $400 in this store on paint, supplies, shelving, fixtures, etc. plus the expense of the two Uhaul rentals. Yesterday my husband rented the largest Uhaul you can rent in order to move into our commercial space. He was told they did not have any moving blankets as they were all out. We therefore placed broken down NEW boxes (total of four) between our furnishings in order to protect from damage. This morning (husbands birthday) we received a phone call that we were being charged an additional $20 because the FOUR folded boxes were unfortunately left in Uhaul OR we could come remove them. I called and asked to speak to the manager and explained that the boxes should have never been used had they had blankets and it was certainly an oversight but I simply wasnt understanding why an employee could not remove if we were being given the option to drive down there to do so?? This coming after doing much business with them as I ALSO explained to the manager. His response was, "it is to teach a lesson, because I have to treat everyone the same" WOW!! WOW!!! Lesson learned we will NEVER spend another dime in this ACE and we will make it a point to share our story with EVERYONE and how management chose to handle a situation even knowing we had been doing business there. What a way to treat a customer after not being able to supply blankets Thanks for "teaching lesson" and for educating me on your poor management skills!! Why am I a fan? Well, because of good customer service, clean store, and STIHL tools. We needed a new string trimmer so I did a lot of research because those Black&Decker things were cheap, underpowered and didn't last. We wanted an electric model so I could use it easily as well as the hub. From all I read, STIHL was the way to go. I looked for a local dealer and this place came up. We went in, were helped by a friendly guy. We made it easy, since I knew the exact model I wanted. He got us some extra string, helped us with a couple other items and we were out the door. We have since come back by for other odds and ends, when we were in the area and have never been let down. Nice place. read more

I like this store because there is a small functioning post office in the back! Way shorter lines than the humble post office. There is an adorable boutique in the front of this hardware store! There are so many precious baby gifts for boys and girls and several candles and serving platters. The employees were very nice and helpful. read more

I am not at all happy with the fact I purchased a toro mower that is a lemon from day one I took it back to them and wanted to exchange it and have them send that pos back to toro I was even willing to pay the difference to upgrade and get a mower with a Honda engine . They refused to do anything so I left it with them under the understanding they would call toro and see if they'd take it back over a month passed and they said toro never got back with them and there was nothing they could do. But for me to take it to a toro repair dealer that wants 80.00 to look at it and then they will let me know if the repair is covered under warranty and I can tell you where that is gonna go . I've bought a lot of big ticket items from this store and always thought it was a great store until now I've even considered working there as well but they pass on me and hire flunkies quite frankly . Long story short don't buy anything big ticket from these people they will get sideways real quick and pass the buck on to another company that will charge you money for something that's supposed to be warranty . Oh btw I still have my non running piece of shit 400.00 toro mower that sits here and is doing nothing . Every time I go in there there is this young girl at the check out who is just rude. One time I was waiting in line and she wasn't helping anyone but herself by stuffing her face with a coworker' s candy bar. A girl in line who knew her told her maybe she should help me. It was then that she called me over to ring me up. Didn't greet me, told me my total and just gave me my receipt. Her customer service skills suck. Have a fully stocked Ace Hardware store with friendly knowledgeable staff plus a U-haul dealership that is also friendly & extremely helpful. Additionally, a section of the store also has Ladies' clothing & costume jewelry. It seems like an odd mix but is very nice stuff. My wife likes that part. Today I tried to use my Black Friday $15 coupon on an item over $30. An extremely rude checkout clerk told me I could not use it for a purchase I had made 2 days ago nor could I return the item & then repurchase it. The manager became involved who was just as unsympathetic & flatly said there was no way I could use my coupon. I returned the item & the manager unbeknownst to me then made the coupon invalid so I would not try to repurchase the item. My daughter went to the store for me to buy the item I had just returned & was met with more rudeness & horrible customer service. It became an embarrassing situation where the checkout clerk questioned her & asked if I had sent her to buy the item & that the coupon was invalid!! My family has used this Ace in the past because of being close to home & helpful staff. However--I made a 'Special Order' for something that the very helpful young man ASSURED me would be in the very next week, & he would be sure to call me as soon as it did. 1-2 weeks went by w/out a call. When I called & spoke to my nice young man, again I was assured he'd call as soon as it came in! FIVE weeks passed & I called yet again. The gruff older man stated that yes, of course it was in & I could pick it up. I told him that I'd been told THEY would call ME when it came in & he replied that was impossible because there was NO phone number to call me! I told him I was looking at my phone # ON the order form, & was told that was wrong, it wasn't written ANYWHERE on the form so how they possibly call me?! Needless to say, the Ace across the bridge is a little farther to drive, but THEY know how to treat customers. Period. They know what they are talking about and can actually FIND phone numbers on Special Orders. There is NEVER an excuse to be rude to a customer. Ever. read more

I come here maybe 3 or 4 time out the year. Usually to find something I can find at your regular walmart or Lowes. Today wasn't their best day in customer service at all. I went to get one thing then thought to myself, oh let me see if they carry this and this too. I originally came in for an ice pick and ended up find other things I had been trying to find at Walmart and Lowes. Their was a person standing at the entrance and there was no greeting. I walked to the right for the ice pick, got it. Went to see if they carries Damp Rid picked up a few things from that isle because the things I picked up were things at close out and also things that I have only found through Amazon. An employee walked into the isle I was at and he started make noises moving things around so I looked in his direction and he just grinned (I grinned back)didn't say a thing or ask anything. Then he excused himself when he needed to walk by. So with my arms full I went to get a cart which I had forgotten about and just decided to graba basket which was right beside the person standing by the enterance(which he was having a full conversion with the guy at the register . As I walked back toward thought of looking at some doorknobs but wasn't sure where to start so started near the bathroom faucets and worked my way around and finally found them. I heard employees talking aloud but didn't see them from where I was standing. Once decided to walk to the checkout I ended up passing by 2 employees in the center isle in the middle of the store ( one was the guy that grinned earlier)they were just talking. Went to check out there was a gentleman on his phone in front of me, which was in front of the cashier and the guy that is at the enterance doors but there was a young girl stated she could check me out. So I get to the register and the phone behind hers starts to ring and she turns to it then just stares at it for a few seconds then answers it. She talks for a moment then states she has to place them on hold.I had a coupon which I gave to her. I paid and she hands me my receipt. No did you find everything okay, No Thank you, No come again, nothing. 2 stars for having product I was looking for and extra but service was horrible. read more

Most of the time there has been good customer service. I went there this week and was greeted at the front door and ignored the rest of time. Employees walked right by numerous times without asking me if they could help me. I finally went to the service desk stood there waiting patiently for the employee to finish his conversation with another employee. I only really go there to support my local hardware, but will think twice next time. The reason I still gave a 4 star rating because it really was my only bad experience. read more

Once again they have totally dropped the ball. I had a Stihl blower that I needed to just get serviced. I paid $30 for the service fee, which was no big deal. They called and said it was ready to pick and once I got there they said there was a $45 outstanding balance. No one ever called to ask if I wanted the extra parts installed. I could have changed the spark plug and I would have cleaned the air filter myself. All in all this is the second time that they have done this to me, so shame on me. They are more interested in selling flip flops, dresses, and dust collectors than anything else. It's totally worth going to Alspaugh's in Kingwood as they know how to do both. This ACE needs to stop trying to imitate another and have better communication skills. I won't go back. Poor customer service skills for sure. read more
