Guess who shops here? All kinds of people from all over Fort Bend County and Southwest Houston shop here. I enjoy shopping at this Northern Tools & Equipment in Stafford is because of diversity. It's tucked away from street view of the feeder road on Southwest Freeway. To be exact, the driveway is sandwiched between Chucky Cheese and James Coney Island Grill. I've seen trucks marked with governmental stickers and small business contractors. I knew this gotta be the most efficient store. Especially a recent remodeling helped to boost traffic and merchandise to the store. I've been here a few times years ago, it wasn't this pretty. I tried to avoid it like a plaque. For longest time, I couldn't find this place by looking at the side street address, not Southwest Freeway. Their shelves are well stocked and staff is much friendlier. Customers are more cordial than Harbor Freight or The Home Depot. Although people just couldn't understand why this Chinese man kept taking photos of orange stuff. Yeah, cuz #iLuvOrange. I too had problems at this location with customer service. I called about something I pre-purchased over 1 month ago. Everytime I called they put me on hold over 15 minutes and each salesperson was clueless in helping. This place really needs training on answering phone calls and helping properly.

I wouldn't come to this place for anything, they are high priced. They won't take a company card without you being the owner of the business, wtf. Other places would take it and even a card over the phone. Lmao

I have been going here for many years. Cashier always friendly and helpful. Finding help not always easy tho. Prices sometimes great.

Terrible customer service. Not just inept, rude to boot. Harbor Freight is a better alternative.

One woman working the register and three guys leaning on the counter. Long line for a tool that will probably break. Awesome.

I'm so glad I stopped by Southland Hardware because you will not be finding me at a big box…read morehardware store moving forward. They have just about anything for home improvement and projects. I was greeted at the front by a friendly lady who guided me to what I was looking for. She went above and beyond with explaining the different types of pesticides and her personal experiences and recommended methods of application (scatter the boric acid around instead of a straight line for roaches, which I didn't know!). It was a lot of fun browsing the store because there was so much to take in. The layout is like an antique store but for hardware, from plumbing to doorknobs to cleaning supplies, they had just about everything. I had an extremely great experience at Southland and will be back! And do not fret about parking, there is a large - by Montrose standards - parking lot in the back.

I grew up going to a local hardware store with my dad in Galveston where I grew up. In fact, that…read morehardware is still around and it's called Chalmers. Ever watched The Jinx on HBO? It's where Robert Durst bought his tools to dismember that body. I digress. Anyway, local hardware stores are the heart of any city. On my way after a Yelp pick Up at Cosmic Juice across the street, I saw Southland Hardware and we decided to drop by. It was like going to the candy store for my husband. He was enthralled with all of the knick knacks that he was in one aisle for a long time while I chased around my three year old who was equally entertained by all of the parts such a store can have. They sold everything from small appliances to gardening items and anything you might need to help your home. I didn't know what anything was except for the snacks and they had a good and unique variety of those. Everyone was helpful and super chill. I appreciate the chill these days a lot more than I used to. What a great neighborhood find and yes things might seem a little bit more than say Amazon or another big box store but putting money into a community store helps save your community in the long run. You help the people who live there and put back into the place you live.
