On a random drive down Fondren I spied LBX lighting and decided I had a minute to stop in. In my trunk was a favorite antique lamp and I had been ripped off trying to get it fixed at another shop. I entered and walked up to the counter with my lamp where I met Micheal. He looked at it and informed me the 'new light socket' I paid for elsewhere (that didn't work) was not new at all. He said old lamps get a little corrosion and showed me the tab inside that can get stuck down so it doesn't connect to the base of the bulb. I learned something. He loosened up the dry corrosion and blew out the dirt. Handed me back the lamp and said "no charge". My cute old lamp was fixed! Lining the north exterior of the store I noticed some trucks with LBX logos parked along the side. Later at home I did a little research on this business. I liked everything about LBX. In addition to my great face to face experience in the store, LBX is an established store front priding lighting services for over 20 years. That means a person in a fixed location who will be responsible. This isn to a contractor who I might have to chase around for possible follow up or worry they could disappear without finishing the job. I decided that I would soon be contacting Michael again. After I made the call Michael came to my home to see what fixtures I had and to coordinate a lighting design and figure out a realistic price. He said it would be a 2 1/2 day job. Even though 3 pendant lights I selected for the kitchen were going to be on back order, I requested, and we agreed, to coordinate a date for the job sooner, and that LBX would later install the pendants when they arrived. I would not of agreed to that if I did not feel comfortable that LBX had a store location and a solid business. LBX sent a team led by Jose. The team showed up and went right to it. They made not big deal about tweaking a few of the light switches and other small changes I asked for. A couple of installed light cans even had to be moved because I realized the placement would be wrong for a new hood range common in that they didn't know about. Jose just suggested where they could easily be moved to and assured me it wan't a big thing. They really wanted me to be happy, Than t eh back ordered pendants arrived several weeks later, Michael managed to schedule an installation right before Thanksgiving which I know wasn't easy I got exactly what I hoped for. A job completed on time and a relationship established with a business I can count on in the future. read more

We walked into this store not sure on what we wanted to buy. Michael worked with us first and helped us get some lights we really liked and wanted for the master bathroom. The manager was friendly, the store carries Lampe Berger, able to sell me a wick, had no lamps for my specific requirements. He juggled his customers seamlessly, the other two staff persons were not involved in assisting customers. Small area is provided for children which is a splendid idea. I drove out to look at lamps on Saturday. The salesperson was courteous and very helpful and even offered to plug in the lamps I was interested in so I could see them on. The selection was pretty good and they had a wide selection of styles. While some of the table lamps were very nice, others looked like the castoffs you find in TJ Max. (Nothing against TJ Max but you know what I mean...velvet and weird swirly pattern brown lampshades or glued on seashell base.) The layout could be improved as there are 3-4 "layers" of lamps against the window which cannot be viewed/accessed. It also seems like they are treating part of the store as a warehouse. There were partially opened cardboard boxes and packing materials everywhere. I was also confused by the back room which is connected to the store but looks like a smoke shop. When I asked about the cost of a lamp, the salesperson looked at the tag and then said he could probably do better, then offered me an additional discount if I bought 2, so don't be afraid to ask for a deal here. I bought a fan and had it installed last month. I also paid $600 to have my wiring inspected (specifically recorded as trouble shoot existing wiring) and to replace a chandelier. I was told the wiring was too extensive and the electricians were too large to move in the attic, so....I paid $600 to have a chandelier replaced. Worst shopping experience. I tried to call twice but no one answered. I came in today to shop for fiber optic lighting and fell in love with the Edison style bulbs. I will never buy from your store based solely on how you spoke down to your employee and your choice language when you spoke with me. It was obvious you were having a private meeting with your employee but it was out in the middle of the store for everyone to hear including your other employees and your customers. I caught a good chunk of what you were telling her. I'm paraphrasing here but telling someone to pay respect to the showroom man and talking about her cleanliness was gross. From what I could I tell she was dressed for work. You commented on her appearance and compared the lighting to a beautiful woman, a model, with make-up. You mentioned your other employee had good marks to say about her but repeatedly asked her if she understood what you were saying. Your tone was disrespectful and degrading to anyone. I walked around for a while looking at your fixtures and was approached by another employee who was kind. I enjoyed speaking with him but you came up, interrupted me as I was in the middle of explaining my vision for my project and bloviated about your style. You walked me over to your store's dimmer display calling it shitty. You said your bulbs were "1 billion percent dimmable" (Really?), and started listing examples of your own designs not wanting to deal with "fucking white and blue commercial light." Yikes. I don't know if you're the owner but your entire approach to your employees is disgraceful. Your mentality seems to be stuck in the 80s along with your attitude and language. The direction you give employees is shameful. No one should be spoken to the way you talked down to her or interrupted your other employee. I would be shocked if you keep people on staff for very long. It's hard enough for some people to get jobs. It's horrible when you land one and your boss sounds self-righteous and undermining. You should have had that meeting in the back room, it was unprofessional. You shouldn't have talked down to her for all of the obvious reasons. Feel free to reach out to me. They took months to deliver two products that were supposed to arrive in a few days. There was every kind of excuse possible and they would avoid me most of the times I called. When I finally received one of my orders, which is a designer chandelier, it didn't contain a certificate of authenticity. I asked for it and they also avoided me but finally I got one which was clearly not associated with the product as it normally comes included in the original packaging.
