There are so many brands and different light qualities coming and going, some being absolute junk, but I always trust that they do their research and only carry the most reliable products at M & M so I don't have to and they stand behind their products in case it doesn't perform well, even if it's longer down the line. In particular, the new generation of low profile LED lights they carry are in a completely different class than the generic old fashion stuff they carry at big box stores. Seeing the actual lights in a realistic demo is a huge help in deciding whether something is right which you don't get anywhere else. They're just a bunch of lighting nerds over there so if you want to dim or automate lights and tie them to your Alexa, they'll point you to the right direction there and explain what you need.

The store has an all sales are final motto so that means if you buy the light and it doesn't match your decor or isn't the right color that you thought you needed for your space, tough it is your light. I found a light I loved but found out after purchasing that light not only could I have bought the same light for more than half of what I paid. You will find unique lights here and the owner is knowledgeable but you will pay more for the lighting here than elsewhere. You also need know that even if you are told your light fixture will include bulbs from the store thrown in as goodwill for doing business with them, please know you will not get the bulbs for your fixture as they want you to pay for those on top of the fixture itself. That was disappointing for me as other lighting stores also promise that if you purchase a light from them that you will get the bulbs for free. This is what I was promised here but it wasn't the truth as I had to pay for the bulbs when it came time to get the fixture. Keep this in mind if this is something important to you. 3 stars as I did find a light I loved but paying more than double for the same light that I found online and not getting the bulbs that were to be included with my light is why I rated this place 3 stars. Value could improve here where you actually get what you are promised as in the lightbulbs with the fixture,

I have used Nextdoor Electric once for actual work and also obtained three quotes from them. My…read moreusual electrical company, Blue Electrical Contractors, was super busy so I decided to try Nextdoor based on their Yelp reviews. I had them take down an old outdoor ceiling fan from my back porch and install two new ceiling lights: one in the same spot as the ceiling fan and the other over the seating area to provide more light (see photo). The job cost $572 which I thought was a little bit high, but I wanted the work done. Two big issues with the job: First of all, the technician didn't install the round ceiling light insulation discs in each fixture (see photo) which is to my understanding required to meet Underwriters Laboratory requirements. (The insulation is used to reflect heat from incandescent bulbs.) He also cracked one of the plastic conduit hangers so that it was actually broke. I found the insulation thrown in the garbage and had to dig them back out and have the technician come back to put them in and replace the broken hanger. Also, wasn't really keen on the fact that he used plastic hangers vs. metal to hang the conduit. Another issue was that I wanted a multi-outlet switch in my garage changed out to a standard outlet; see photo. Nextdoor quoted me $187 to change it out. Caido, from Blue Electrical Contractors stopped by and I had him look at it. It was only a cover; Caido unscrewed one screw and the regular outlet was underneath. I could have done it had I known this. It took Caid 5 seconds to take the multi-outlet cover off and he didn't charge me a thing. Okay. This is ridiculous! $187??!! This shows me the technician from Nextdoor Electric didn't even know what he was quoting. I was speaking to Caido from Blue Electric about Nextdoor and how I will never use them again, but can't understand their great reviews. Caido was telling me that Nextdoor's reviews could be fake and/or purchased. I really am questioning these reviews. I will never have them do any work for me again. Go with Blue Electric the next time you need electrical work; I have used them for years.

They're also A+ rated by the BBB and for good reasons...professionalism, quality, and reasonable pricing. SCL had to redo our outdoor lighting and bring it up to industry standards. Five months ago, a company installed our lighting system which began to fail within 30 days. Each time the owner would come out and do something to rectify the problem. Not until the circuit breaker began tripping and shutting off immediately, did we call an electrician. (The guy who did the initial install buried a household extension cord over 100 feet and left the receptacle end and plugs to the transformer and lights in the open and rain.) We're happy our house didn't burn down. I can't recommend SCL enough. We are very satisfied with the excellent workers who came out and the quality of their work as well as neatness of the job. Great owner and company.

Thankfully, it did not cause serious injury, and at that time we chose not to escalate or take any legal action. However, the main chandelier is still defective -- bulbs continue to fall off, which is unsafe and unacceptable. Since it is installed on a very high ceiling, this is not something we can fix ourselves and requires proper warranty service. We have contacted the company 4-5 times, but they only make promises and never follow through. After receiving full payment, their lack of responsibility is extremely disappointing. If this issue continues to be ignored, we will have no choice but to share our full experience, including related photos, to accurately reflect the situation
