Avoid this Ace Hardware location. I brought in a screen for repair, and the first attempt was unsatisfactory and had to be remade. The replacement was also unsatisfactory. When I raised my concerns at pickup, they were dismissed rather than addressed. Everyone makes mistakes. What matters is whether a business stands behind its work. After two unsuccessful attempts and poor customer service, I lost confidence in this store and would not return. read more

Be aware that each Ace Hardware store has a different owner. The location on S Mason Rd in Katy, TX is extremely rude. Customer service was very poor, and I would not recommend dealing with this store at all. Make sure that you are not buying anything on sale other wise you will experience a poor treatment. read more

There on a Saturday. Found a few items that I needed. It's says Gloves on Aisle 1. No gloves. I asked the woman at the front desk and she said gloves are on the other side of Aisle 1. Spend another five minutes looking for gloves... go and look for someone to help me... Finally find one person who says they're against the back wall. So gloves are not at the end of Aisle 1 but at the end of Aisle 7 half way down the back wall. A five minute trip turned into 30 minutes. read more

Last Thursday we purchased a Weber S 335 grill at this location. As Seniors we needed a LOT of education and guidance when making this purchase. We were accomodated in every way possible. Accesaries were discussed and procurred to make this grill custom in every detail. All at an outstanding value for our needs. Today ( a mere four days later) it was delivered to our home, placed on our patio, explained and set up. The delivery people could not have been better or nicer. Today, Saturday, 6/1/2024, between the hours of 1400 and 1430 hours, I went to this store to inquire if they sold storm doors. Prior to my visit, I conducted an internet search on which companies in my area that sold storm doors. Three companies came up, Ace Hardware, Lowe's and Home Depot. I then went to the Ace Store located in the 1720 block of South Mason Road. Upon my arrival, as I entered the store, I spoke (greeting) to male store associate (possibly Hispanic) and he just looked at me and did not reply. Now the associate was assisting someone else, however, I know for a fact that he heard speak to him. Then I walked straight to the back of store to the service desk to speak to someone, when I felt that I was being followed. I looked back and it was the same associate who had ignored me as I entered the store. When I reached the service desk, the first associate, asked me if he could help me, and I told him, "No, because you ignored me when I entered the store." There was an elder man (second store associate) at the service desk. He asked me, "What you get?" Not, may I help you or how can I help you today. I asked the associate, did they sale storm doors. The associate paused and stated, "Let me see. Let me think about it." Then I stated to the associate, "Sir, it's a very basic question. Do y'all sell storm doors or not?" The associate finally stated, "No," then I left the store. I will ever revisit this Ace Store location again. I took my business to Lowe's off of the Katy Freeway, where I received better service, and paid for a scheduled appointment for someone to come to my house to take measurements for my new storm door. I guess I would have received better service, if the two Ace associates knew I was in law enforcement or was a military veteran. read more

Love my Ace Hardware. Start your search by pouring yourself a demiglass of free coffee over in their kitchen section. From there, you may find your party splitting up into interest groups. Kitchen and home stuff to your left, garden supplies to your right. Building materials and hardware is straight ahead. Ace Hardware is the place to go when you want that hard to find pipe fitting, a decent set of yard furniture or some home/yard Art Deco. I also shop here for barbecue rubs, sauces and infusions. Try their Peach Rub next time you plan to grill chicken. Oh my that's good! The enchiladas are good to as far as the frozen variety goes. But don't stop there. My last trip I purchased 800lb of top soil so I could cover the tree roots in the front yard. read more

Terrible Katy store with bad manager and unfriendly cashiers. We will for sure never shop there again. Price usually higher than Lowe's and Home Depot' anyway. We shopped there for the convenience but surely not to be treated disrespectfully. This was very bad shopping experience for us on 12/21/2023 @5:30 pm in the Katy store! 3 days before Christmas Eve. 2nd time at the same store. We were trying to return a defective toilet plunger brought less than an hour ago. Brand new one and not even used. Many products are not refundable and not posted around the store. Defect is defect and that's not a rocket science how to use a toilet plunger! A brand new $24.99 products for a famous named chain store is a little bit overkill! Anyway my family will never ever again shop at ACE hardware. read more

I've been going to this store for years because the location is convenient. I am nearly always disappointed when I go there though because the young staff at the registers are always quit rude and absolutely clueless. Today I spent nearly $600 on yard equipment and the girls at the registers acted like they were doing me a favor. The person who helped me to choose the Stihl hedge trimmer I bought was helpful and told me to go to the register and they would have me fill out a warranty card. He even radioed to the front desk to tell them to have the warranty card ready. When I went to the register and asked them about the warranty card, the two girls at the front acted like they had no idea what I was talking about and were really not very nice. Finally, one of them decided not to be completely useless and found the warranty cards for me so that I could fill it out before they delivered the Stihl hedge trimmer to the front. I only go to this store because it is convenient. The staff working the registers are never helpful nor are they polite. read more

I actually went in for the gift section- I needed lampe berger fuels, they had a wide selection and even sold the lamps themselves- I was asked by 3 different people if I wanted help- I took it since it was my first visit to this location- they took me right to where I needed to be. One of my absolute favorite places and they seem to be updating and adding so much. One of the few stores you can find designer clothing, fabulous jewelry and paint for the house, hardware to fit a multitude of needs and grills/outdoor lawn equipment too! A One stop shop which is exactly what I appreciate most in the stores I frequent. I've been here many times now and I think I'm done. The prices are pretty insane. Like double the Amazon prices for the same thing. I'm all for shopping local but that's too much of a premium to pay. Plus the selection is often missing the tool or item I'm looking for. Customer service is either non-existent, or non stop people asking what you're looking for. The girls at the front are usually pretty rude. The weekday hours are not sufficient to get here after work. I made it several minutes before closing recently (just needed to grab a single item for an evening project) and an employee motioned to me from the doors that I could not come in. I'm a weekly regular to this store for 6 years or so and the new owners and staff are not customer focused. Latest bad taste was when I arrived at 6pm when they were closing. Doors were still open and I asked the manager if I could grab one quick item...it was a quick NO and closed the door. People were still in the store. Very poor service. I like this Ace because its close to the house. Saves me from driving over to Home Depot or Lowe's. The prices are a little higher here but its worth it in convenience. Especially if you just need to get a few items. Not only tools and hardware. Lots of other items here as well. Gardening supplies, paint, bird food, auto supplies and a bunch of house hold items, pots, pans, knives, etc... the list goes on and on. They have a post office in the back of the store, should need stamps and they can take care of all your shipping needs. Plenty of parking and friendly helpfully employees. read more

Two things I am looking for when I am in the hurry. Speed and customer service. Ace has both you push the button, and waited about a minute or so someone come and make your key. No fussed no problem. I don't go to the big chains, because I have to look for someone to look for someone that actually can help me, the whole process can take up to a day or so, just kidding but you get my picture. Prices are insanely high. Although Ace is right down the road from home, I'd rather drive elsewhere for cheaper prices. A bag of bird food @ Ace runs $12. The same bag of bird food @ HEB runs $5-6. I walked in and was very polite to the 2 employees carrying on a conversation about their personal lives and waited for them to finish before they acknowledged me, once they did i asked if they had a A/C capacitor in stock and was told NOPE, no way, out of stock and warehouse is too since its a hot item this time of year... we left disappointed and then started our online search and discovered online it showed they have it IN STOCK, so we ordered online for curbside pickup and came back 1hr later once the email came in showing it was ready for pickup, we arrived and called for curbside pickup and the same employee that told me they dont have it came walking out with my order in hand, when we rolled down our window and he saw it was us again he said "seriously" in a very bothered manner, when my gf asked if that is the same part he told us they didnt have an hour earlier he replied "oh i dont know in just bringing out your order" "hope its the right one because its not returnable" Id also like to add that when we originally went in to buy the item he commented "i wish we did have these in stock, we would mark up the price 100% since everyone needs it". You've got to appreciate the customer service which is so rare now days. Ace always has more than a typical hardware store and they are super helpful. If they don't have it they look it up for you and even check for another work around. I have seen them patiently work wth a customer that was struggling with a repair and answer all their questions until they felt comfortable with the repair. As others have said, this isn't your typical hardware store, but more a combination of Lowe's, Williams Sonoma, and the gift portion of the Hallmark store. I recently visited this store because I was looking for squirrel food and it was listed as being at many Ace Hardware's in Houston. While it wasn't listed as being at this one, I decided to take a chance. The food was there, but no device to hang it from (so the ants don't get it), but I'm not even sure if this exists, so I can't knock them for that. But there are gifts galore and I wound up walking out with chocolate truffles, a cooking device for my husband, a suet bird feeder, bird feed, and a potted hanging plant for my garden. There were other things I passed over such as oil for my Lamp Bergere, glass ware, dinner ware, pruning kits, paint, decorative door mats, shoes, decorative watches, various hardware items.... you get the idea? My only wish was that there was a larger variety of lawn items like trellis or arbors. It was mainly patio furniture with a few hanging plants. Otherwise, if your hubby wants to stop at a hardware store for simple items on the way home and you want to be able to do some window or gift shopping at the same time, this is a good place for it. read more

Moved to the area about 1 year ago. I'm actually closer to the Ace on Pin Oak. I come here, despite the traffic on Mason, BECAUSE of the customer service. I've never had a problem finding someone to help me. They obviously don't have the variety of HD, but I love being able to get in, be greeted, get helped and get back to my project. When you actually need help from someone who knows their job, this is the place! But be warned... This place had a real funky odor that hits you the second you walk in!!! I'm not sure what it is but it's always there. After about 3-5 minutes you get use to it. Anyway... I can always find those special items I need when the other big box stores don't have them. You may pay a little more here for similar items but the customer service is totally worth it. I was here to get custom glass cut for picture frames. I wasn't about to try cutting glass on my own and felt it was well worth it to have them cut perfectly! Also needed longer screws for drawer pulls that Home Depot didn't carry. But guess what? Ace had them! So if you ever gave a hard to find item, try this place! read more

A customer at checkout had no mask at all. Upon entering, they had a sign posted about Judge Hidalgo's order for mandatory mask. Why bother. Sears Hardware is less than a mile towards I 10 on the right beside Burger Kings. I have been a loyal Ace Hardware customer for over 40 years. I remember going with my dad to the store back home. We moved to Katy and the first place I looked for was the closest Ace Hardware store. I have shopped at the Ace Hardware on S Mason in Katy across from HEB, religiously for everything I need. I have spent a lot of time and funds at this location. Today I was on a hurry and need to get 2 bolts, as it was about 7:55pm. I was greeted at the door and the gentleman indicated that store would be closing in 2 minutes. I replied "ok just need 2 bolts." I hear him radio the other employees indicating where I was going and they met me in the isle. I spoke first to both gentlemen, "Good evening" to which the oldest gentlemen stated "we closed what you need?" to which I responded nothing and turned around and left. As I exited the front door I shared my encounter with the gentleman that really did not care what I had to say and I indicated that I would never return to this store based on how I was just treated. The employees at this store should either know me or at least recognize me because I practically love in the tools, paint,electrical, or nuts and bolt section. My goal is to hold a sign up on S Mason boycotting this location on ceetain Saturday/Sunday until my anger has felt satisfied. We just spent over $175 last weekend and that was just on stuff my wife found to be cool. I am very sad this happened because I hate Lowes and Home Depot however being treated like I was today will never rest easy with me. Always some very cool stuff here for gift ideas...its not your typical hardware store even though the have a good selection of hardware items and services to go along with the gourmet coffee that they fresh grind for you and the trinkets for gifts etc. VERY cool during Christmas time for unique ornaments and decor!
