Incredible talented Bike Repair shop. I have bought several bikes over the years what sets them apart is their customer service. Recently I took a bike in for repair after the chain broke and damaged the bike. Broken chain, wheel needed to be repaired, broken shifter, brakes adjusted. New seat post and because they were unexpectedly closed on the day I was to pick it up, they fixed grinding in the wheel hubs at no cost. They go above and beyond and if they find additional problems they will call to authorize repair. Highly recommended! read more

So it happens that I have disabilities. I am a SCI partial para. In layman's terms my legs don't always work. I am looking into a recumbent or some other type of hand cycle. I called northeast cyclery yesterday and was surprised to find a small bike shop not interested in a build. At least the person I spoke with wasn't interested in helping me with a build. Everyone I have called is saying that no one around here with the exception of one other shop even services hand cycles. So northeast cyclery was honest but just not interested in helping me. I give 3 stars because they were professional and are probably a great bike shop for the able bodied. I'm sure if you don't have any weird asks like mine you will be helped and get what you need for a fair price. read more

I walked into a great sale on MTB and Road bikes - because they're moving across the street!!! I almost drove past because I've always just considered them a place to fix and upgrade my bikes. That's because Owner Mike and his team have been here for ages and Wow! Do they know their way around bikes and maintenance! So it turns out they carry a smaller selection but they can order practically anything and customize it right there. I learned the oldest name-brand bicycle still in production is "Raleigh" is one of their original offerings and they carry others like Canondale, of course. And yes! I bought my new mountain bike from them and of course, I'm having them make it custom to my tastes. Can't wait to slam and shred! Thanks guys! read more

We were looking for two new bikes. We didn't want to spend thousands, but also didn't want to get Walmart bikes again either. We decided that about $300-$350 was our goal price for each bike. We called around and most bike shops were not selling anything in that price range. A few shops had used ex-rental bikes for $449, another had bikes for $600 but they weren't in stock and they only had 6 gears. When we called Northeast Cyclery, we expected to hit another dead end and were thinking we would end up buying from Wally World again. However, helpful guy named Wally (see what I did there?) answered our call and said they had plenty of bikes in stock that were in our price range. Woo-hoo! When we arrived, he had a $150 used bike ready for a test ride. We left an ID and credit card with him and took the bike around the neighborhood. It was a good fit and the bike was very solid, but I decided maybe I wanted a different style. Wally was happy to help us find just what we needed and we rode about 5 bikes before deciding what we really wanted was a hybrid style. Wally did not try to pressure us into anything -- we did end up buying bikes just over our budget, as they had a super comfortable hybrid bike for $399 that was too perfect to pass up. After switching the seats around for us so we could have the exact setup we wanted, Wally explained how to remove the front wheels to make it easier to load and unload in our car. They mentioned to bring the bikes back in about 90 days for a free adjustment, and that they adjust bikes for life at no cost if purchased new from them. The shop had a steady flow of people bringing in their bikes for repairs and advice while we were there. It was well organized and was welcoming to newbies like us who didn't know what we really wanted. They had a small used section with bikes from $150 and up. The majority of the new bikes were $300 and up. They had a nice selection of accessories and gear, and the prices seem decent compared to what we had seen at the big box retailers. Based on the no-pressure and helpful sales and the great bikes we left with, I would definitely recommend this bike shop. read more

As of January 2017, new management of this business is terrible. I was sold a product that was not as described, not in the condition described, had a surcharge not disclosed, and was dangerous. With a straight face they looked me in the eye and knowingly misled me. For decades this had been a reputable business. Now, no commercial honor. I was sent to Northeast Cyclery by a salesperson at the Trek bike shop when he could not provide a set of tires for my wife's bike. During the pandemic, bikes and accessories are in short supply so I was not angry at the Trek guy, just bummed. I had waited nearly 45 minutes to see get in the Trek shop. Trek guy was cool. He made the referral to Northeast Cyclery. In addition to the referral, Trek Guy called to make sure NE Cyclery had tires. Once I got to the shop, I was met immediately (yep I did NOT have to wait more than 30-seconds) and they showed me a couple of sets of tires to choose from. The tires I chose work beautifully and my wife is quite happy with them. An interesting bonus was that my wife asked what I paid for the tires and found the same set of tires online for the same amount NE Cyclery charged me. Guys! You made me look SO smart! As a result of that first positive interaction and transaction, I have had them tackle some mechanical issues with (3) of my geriatric bikes. My bikes are 1980's vintage and they needed some love and care beyond my skill set. The gentlemen I worked with made accurate diagnosis of the issues, he charged a fair price for the work, and completed the work the timeframe he promised. I would have given them an overall 5 stars, but they promised to call when the work was done and never did. Of course, what was most important - the quality of work, the price and delivery on the timeframe promised are worth 5 stars for sure! They are worth a try for anyone looking for a quality bike shop for quality work! read more

Bryan helped me solve a problem with my shifter/brake hoods in a manner that was simpler, faster and more economical than the idea I had of replacing them with newer and wider ones. He worked with me to explore options and spent the time looking in the parts catalog to see what was available. he went above and beyond my expectations and gave me excellent customer service. The other (positive) reviews on this site have said it well but let me just give a current thumbs up to this bike shop. They always strike me as good, honest and helpful people who are capable and efficient when it comes to bike maintenance. I brought an old bike in with shifting issues that had been gathering dust and spiders. 24 hours later, after their $65 tune up, I'm enjoying the wind in my hair on what feels like a brand new, smooth, quiet and fully functional bike. Absolutely would not rent from these guys again!. Planned a one day rental with out of town people, called to see if they had bikes available, told yes $25 for 24 hrs. Great! At pick up, just before they close, inform me deposit will be $1000 hold on my debit card for 10 days!!! SERIOUSLY? I rent all the time, leave a card, return bikes, pay, end of deal. Because they did not disclose this 10 day hold, I had no option but to continue transaction because I had no time to rent elsewhere!!! Bikes look average, but now have no access to $950 dollars on card for 10 days. Horrible business practice!! read more

This is one of the best bike shops in ABQ in my opinion. Don't judge this shop by it's cover, inside they have a nicely organized store with plenty of high quality bikes. I went here just to poke around and also get a new front reflector. After the one store clerk got it for me, I ask how much I owned him, and he said that I could just have it... unreal!!! I was also looking into getting a new bike pump and new disk brakes, which they only have a few different ones to choose from (for both bike pumps and brakes) but their prices were much better than the several other places I looked. Their BB7 disk brakes were $10 cheaper than the lowest price I found anywhere else, I hadn't checked online though. Finally, the customer service here is great. The guy I talked to didn't try to push me into buying a certain set of disk brakes and was very attentive. Also, if your looking for a deal on shooting supplies, they have lots to choose from in the back. read more
