Just had my chimney cleaned and inspected. I am so impressed with this company's service and professionalism. I have used several companies in the past who always try to upsell me on unnecessary repairs. The homeowner is at a disadvantage, not knowing how to sort out these recommendations. Northeast Chimney is thorough and honest, giving peace of mind. Very pleasant folks. read more

Northeast Chimney Sweeps - Crud removed from fireplace flue - Chimney Sweeps Near Me

I had my chimney cleaned with a quote for some minor repairs scheduled this spring. The chimney is 34yrs old and needed some pointing and sealing. They were so professional and polite calling before arriving was a nice touch. Chimney is done and quote was exactly what I paid no surprises. Job well do would highly recommend them. read more

Northeast Chimney Sweeps came to my home and inspected my chimney. They told me that I had a blockage due to a fallen liner tile. However, they did not have the tool for removing the tile. The tool is a simple half-moon drill attachment which is used for braking up chimney tiles. They took numerous pictures of the inside of my chimney but never gave any pictures to me. They said that they would return with the correct tool. They charged me nearly $300 and never returned. I called their office and was told that I was on their waiting list for a return visit. They simply disappeared with my money. Avoid them! read more

Extremely happy I came across Northeast Chimney Sweeps. Ben came out for the cleaning service, he was timely and very professional, was polite, honest and explained the service and the results of his inspection. In addition to me experience and other reviews i have read I would highly recommend Northeast Chimney Sweep, no need to look further. Great to see an honest and respectful local company. I will use them again. read more

I was very pleased with the service from Northeast Chimney Sweeps. Lydia and David arrived right on time and were very polite, efficient and professional. They answered all my questions and explained exactly what they were going to do. Everything from my front door into the living room fireplace was neatly covered. They did a wonderful job of cleaning my wood-burning fireplace and chimney, and they left the entire area in perfect condition--not a speck of dirt anywhere! I would definitely hire them again and recommend them. I appreciated the great service provided by the two of them. read more

Super professional. Easy to make appointments via E-mail. Lydia was prompt, efficient, thorough and friendly.

Lydia showed up on-time, was very polite and careful about the mess, seemed knowledgeable about any issues that I may have, and made honest recommendations about how frequently to clean. I would recommend. read more

Joe did an amazing job. We had a chimney cap blow off during the harsh winter, and he came out on New Years Eve (his first opening) to check it out and reassure us. He was very patient and explained the best way to fix it without compromising quality and longevity. We decided not to go with another chimney company that had proposed a temporary shortcut solution. Joe and team did excellent work, fit it into one day when the weather was good so we didn't have to wait months until the spring, and I was so happy I had him clean out the ash pit too and fix our liner alignment in the process. The chimney cap is now secure, looks great, and will last for many years to come. Fantastic. We use them again! read more

Great experience with Northeast. Complete professional prompt courteous and an excellent neat job on my dining room chimney. Can't say enough about Ben. read more

They showed up on a snowy day and were punctual, polite, very thorough with their work and explained everything very well. I would definitely hire them again for chimney flue cleaning read more

What great people! We moved into our house over a year ago but never got around to having the chimney cleaned or inspected inside, and were afraid to light a fire until doing so. Brenda was transparent about the fact that it's busy season, and let us know a timeline for a longer wait while also giving us the option to be added to a wait list for something sooner if an opening came up. She was very understanding if we wanted to look elsewhere, but their prices were much more reasonable than the other quotes we received and we could tell they'd offer good service, so we decided to wait. Fast forward, there's a snow storm and I bet a bunch of folks canceled their appointments, so we were in luck! Ben came out on time (still during a snow storm) and showed me how to operate our flue (I'm clueless), explained what he was going to do, and set out ample sheeting and cardboard to keep our area clean. He also set up a vacuum to ensure soot wouldn't go all over the place. The service was quick, professional, reasonably priced, and we will 100% be using Northeast Chimney Sweeps every time we need a cleaning. Love that it included an inspection, too. A+ customer service, you will not regret it. read more

We just moved into a house and needed our chimney repointed and recapped. Joe was our third estimate. The first two estimates pulled the typical if you do not add a new liner and clean your flu your family will die. The work estimate for the work I asked for was also very high from these other companies. After reading Joe's reviews I asked him to come in and give an estimate. Joe was extremely thorough in all aspects of the estimate and then in completing the project. His estimate was detailed and provided multiple options for proceeding with the project. He also gave detailed explanations for each of the options he provided. Joe came in at the exact time he promised and completed the work very quickly with his two daughters! He then sent us a detailed report of how he completed the work and why he made the decisions he did. Joe is extremely well respected in the area and not only is a good guy, but is extremely skilled and trustworthy. We have already recommended him to another couple and will use him for our cleanings! read more

We bought an antique house a few years ago, and have fires pretty much every night when it's cold outside. A real fireplace was on my 'must' list when house hunting, and my husband indulges me and hauls wood in every night for a cozy blaze. We needed the chimney swept, but had never done this before, here or in previous homes which didn't have fireplaces. After a lot of review reading, we called Northeast Chimney Sweeps based on the positive reviews and the fact it's a local business, and couldn't be more pleased. Setting up the appointment was easy, Joe was on time, cleaned the chimney and chimney caps, even removing the damper to be thorough, and I learned a lot about chimneys in the process. They were professional, friendly and left the house cleaner than it was when they arrived. They use drop cloths to protect any furniture or rugs, but when he was done the drop cloths weren't even that dirty. I recommend them without hesitation and we'll be using them again in the future. Call them and clean up your chimney, I was amazed at how much creosote builds up if you're a heavy wood burner, and even if you only have the occasional fire, they'll let you know if the cleaning is needed or not. Better safe than sorry, chimney fires are no joke. Five stars. read more

Joe was professional, knowledgeable and very organized! He created a numbered list of recommended services for us after his inspection, labeling each with their relative urgency. He also attached pictures of our chimney, along with pictures of repairs he's made to others for comparison. In conversation, he also described some minor issues he noticed with our eaves and gutters. After selecting the tasks to be completed via email, he returned on time on the appointed day and handed me a copy of the itemized work order and agreed-to price, along with all our email correspondence (a great touch!). He completed the work quickly, safely and courteously with his crew. That night, we were able to view our chimney from a neighbor's roof deck- we can verify that he did an excellent job repointing, sealing and capping it! I would recommend him without hesitation! read more

I can't recommend Northeast Chimney Sweeps enough. We recently moved into a new house and were unfamiliar with many of the specifics of an open fire and what was required for maintenance. Joe and his team helped us with the replacement of the chimney cap, some additional repairs to our chimney, and the installation of a new damper. Joe is incredibly professional and attentive and his team delivers a very high quality of work. Joe is informative and not pushy in any way and his expertise and passion for his work are very clear. Northeast Chimney Sweeps is now our go-to for any future work or cleaning etc as I can't think of anyone better. Highly recommended. read more

They did an amazing job. They showed up on a really hot day. Joe and his son spent most of the day in the roof. They cleaned up well and the price was fair. They installed a steel liner in our flu and rebuilt the crown and put in a cap. Great work. Many thanks. The masonry work in the basement was clean and the young lady was able to squeeze into a tight space to do the work. Thank you. read more

I wish there were more stars to give! I scheduled an appointment for a cleanup with Northeast in the Fall as I was having soot/smoke enter and it just started happening. Joe and his crew came out to Stoneham and did a thorough clean up (I have not lived here that long) they removed animals, etc. I asked Joe if he thought the clean-up would solve my problem? He stated that I had some issues with the amount of space that was available for the smoke to leave the house and although the clean up may help he didn't think it would solve the problem. He wrote up a very detailed description of the problem, took great pictures way up top there to show me and explained what he thought would solve the problem. But, he NEVER pressured me. He stated maybe the clean up would help, but if not, replacing certain things may fix the problem and he was on his way - not one single bit of pressure! Fast forward 2 months later, soot and smoke still entering and I call Joe and explain I would like to replace the parts and fix the problem. Joe schedules me for next day, comes with the parts and repairs the problem. What I would like to add is Joe is probably one of the nicest, most HONEST, polite, enthusiastic and easy going business owners I've ever dealt with. I've owned several homes in my day and I use contractors quite often and I'm sorry I didn't use Northeast before this year! If I could have given 10 stars I would have!!!! read more

Answered all my question thoroughly and gave us a quote. Workers were on time and kept the area around the fireplace extremely clean. Great service. read more

I appreciate Joseph Albano taking time to explain to me everything that I need to know on how to maintain my firer place and get a firer started. He also went up on my roof and inspected my chimney and told me that "everything looks ok". Which the previous chimney company wanted to charge me an arm and two legs to do things to my chimney and firer place that did not need to be done. I sincerely appreciate Joe's attention to detail, patience, honesty and sincere care when it came to my chimney and firer place. Shhhhh! I won't say what Joe charged me, but it was not anywhere near what the other Chimney guy wanted. Did I mention that Joe also was on time and has a cheerful disposition. I highly recommend Northeast Chimney Sweeps for all of your chimney and firer place needs. read more

Could not have been more impressed with NCS. Easily one of the best service providers and contractors I have ever dealt with. Not only did go do an excellent job of actually cleaning my fireplace, he removed an animal nest from the roof and walked me through how to use the fireplace in great detail. He showed me before and after photos and highlighted exactly how it should be operated. Everything was clean, quick and professional. For ongoing maintenance, he even highlighted how there is no need to call them every year, depending on use. He will be the only chimney service I'll ever recommended. Wish I could give 6 stars. read more

During the busiest time of the year we started to smell exhaust fumes in our house, and we looked for a professional to help us solve the problem. We couldn't find anyone to come and give us an estimate. Those who agreed to come, wanted to charge us around 400$ for a chimney inspection, regardless the chimney condition or the problem. But Joe came right away, at the end of his work day, because of the nature of the problem. He did a few thorough tests to find the source of the problem, while explaining everything during the process and giving us some very useful tips. He didn't charge for his one hour visit, even though we offered. Two days later he emailed us his conclusions and a reasonable estimate. Joe was very professional, knowledgeable, and courteous. Needles to say, we hired him to do the job, and he did it great. We couldn't have asked for more, highly recommend him! read more

Just had my chimney cleaned by Joe and was very happy with his work and professionalism. Cleaned up everything before leaving and even cleaned the top inside part of our furnace to make sure everything was set to go. Would recommend Joe and the company for any chimney issues that need attention. Had Joe back today to install a chimney flue liner, he also replaced the chimney cap at no charge. Again his work was excellent, cleaned up everything, very easy to deal with as well as his co-workers. Very pleasant experience, highly recommend. read more

My chimney Cap blew off and I was afraid critters would try to get into my chimney so I immediately called a few places. Almost everyone said that I needed to purchase a new chimney Cap through them and pay for the install or it wouldn't be worth their time. However, I have two chimneys and I wanted the existing one replaced so they would match. Then I contacted Joe from Northeast Chimney and he worked with me and came over and inspected the chimney Cap and said it was fine and he replaced it while charging much less. He also inspected my chimney for critters. Thank you Joe! read more

I could not give this business a higher recommendation!! Joe is absolutely fantastic, as is his team. They were incredibly hardworking, honest, and charged us exactly what the estimate was from the start. Joe explained each and every recommendation, and then worked with us to figure out what we needed to have done in order to have our fireplace and chimney working safely. We will absolutely have them back every year and anytime we need any other work done on our fireplace and chimney!! They are the absolute best!! read more

My husband and I recently bought our first house, and we were excited to have our first fireplace for the cold Boston winters! I have learned to be nervous when ever we hire people to come work on some aspect of our house, as it, until now, has seemed like more problems arise every time someone comes to fix one! Not with Northeast Chimney Sweep! Joe was fantastic. After learning we're new homeowners, he spent oodles of his time explaining to me the ins and outs of fireplaces and having fires. I was nervous about our rug and new furniture around the fireplace, but he covered everything really carefully with drop clothes. I think he left the place cleaner than it was before he was here! I wish we could hire Northeast Chimney for all our house maintenance jobs! We are glad to have found a company that is clearly dependable, honest, and treats our home with as much respect as (or more than) we do! read more

In the process of selling our home, we were told we had a crack in our flue. Joe came out and took a look and apologetically confirmed that we did need a new chimney liner. He gave us a quote, came back a couple weeks later and was done in a day. Joe is so friendly and, more importantly, trustworthy. Would have him back in a heartbeat. He made an unfortunate situation seem actually pleasant. read more

We got a call from Northeast Chimney offering a deal on chimney cleaning. I am always leary of these phone calls, but I did a quick check on Angie's List and Yelp and the reviews were great so we scheduled with them. I was a little worried that they would do hard sell on a million things that were wrong and needed to be fixed right away. I couldn't have been more wrong with my concerns. The guys came in and were pleasant and friendly. They assessed both of our chimneys and cleaned one of them as planned. The price was amazing for the work they did. They also suggested we get chimney caps and gave us a price but it was not at all pushy or aggressive. At some point we will put the caps on and will definitely call Northeast. read more

Per the website, I used their contact for to try and schedule an appointment as they indicated that would be the best way. I waited a week and heard nothing. I just left a message telling them that they are not authorized to do any work for me, in case they would show up when I am not home and try and go forward. I do not wish to do business with a company that does not have the courtesy to respond for a week to a genuine customer. All the positive reviews must have been select customers or plants because I saw NO customer service period. read more

Terrible!!! Basically took our money and ran! Cleaned the chimney in about 5.2 seconds and barley vacuumed up debris. Husband had to go back and vacuum it up. Peter was soooo busy trying to "sell" another system, he came off way too pushy and was doing the typical salesman pitch. We saw right through it! Glad we didn't fall for it. Save yourself the time and don't use this company. read more

If you are choosing a chimney job contractor, look no further. We had perfect, and I do not use the word lightly, experience with this company. Joe is fast, efficient, professional, unbelievably old-fashioned courteous, even compassionate. The price for a basic cleaning is on the answering voice message, there is no "need an estimate to clean, be ready to bargain" bullshit. very reasonable rate. We came back from winter vacation on Friday night to a cold house - the furnace shut off. After some googling we self-diagnosed that "spill switch" triggered, indicating chimney flue blockage (thank god for that switch, that is how families die of CO poisoning). Called six different companies Saturday morning. Voice mail or answering service everywhere, one company told us that they need to send someone to estimate, and they schedule cleanings 4-5 weeks in advance. Joe's voice message clearly says "e-mail for urgent situations." Wrote to him, he answered within two hours. In the response he told that he can come next morning and apologized for being out of town! Plain humanity of his e-mail was so sweet, I was floored. Came to my house as promised, showed me the debris that clogged my flue, cleaned it fast, explained everything. He will get my business every time. read more

Joe and his family have done chimney liners and caps at two different homes for us. If I could give Joe more than 5 stars, I would. We had never used this company and took a chance. I emailed him and heard back within an hour. He followed up with an email confirming the service that would be provided, the time scheduled and the price. He arrived promply and explained exactly what he would do (he also updated us throughout the process). We told him we were getting ready to put our house on the market and just had the woodstove removed from the fireplace for aesthetic purposes. Not only did he clean the fireplace but also replaced the damper (we still had the old one that had been removed when the woodstove was installed) since a buyer's home inspector might notice the missing damper. He said that he had an empty time slot after our appointment so he did this repair as a courtesy and did not charge us despite staying an extra hour. Joe is a true professional and provided outstanding service. read more
