My client just opened their restaurant and they did not have a web page. I asked John to help with this and we had a web page by the end of the day. John is always helpful and gives quality advice. He really knows his business and you will receive the best customer service at North Bay Computer. John is my 'go to' guy for all computing needs. North Bay is truly the best! read more

I am so impressed. I called another individual and he didn't show for two different appointments. I stopped by NorthBay computer in San Rafael and John said he was quite busy but if I was an early riser, he would meet me at my home at 6 AM. Not only did he show up promptly perhaps even 10 mintues early but knew what might be wrong, brought the replacement parts and was finished in about a half an hour. We all know how much we miss our computers and to have someone so close by that excels in knowledge and customer service is amazing!!!! I highly recommend their services to anyone needing computer help. LG San Rafael, CA read more

They always fix my computers. I would not go anywhere else. I am a happy customer!

Took in my mom's Asus laptop which was not connecting to internet for some odd reason. I had tried a couple TCP/IP scripts that were suggested online, but without success, and i had taken it to someone else who also couldnt figure it out. I found these guys on yelp and called up and was told i could just come on by, so i did... 5 minutes later problem was fixed (cheap)! When i got home the issue reappeared - ahhhh! - so i called them back and John walked me thru the appropriate settings once again. My mom is a happy surfer once again... Northbay was EZ, nearby, friendly knowledgeable affordable :-) read more

My computer recently crashed, which is never convenient. Since it was still under warranty, I first tried Best Buy's Geek Squad. While they ran diagnostics, if I required further service it would cost me. So I did research and read about North Bay Computer Systems. Felt I'd rather take my computer to people who have more "skin in the game." Ryan is the guy I interacted with the most and he's completely jazzed about his work. Fortunately my computer was sound, just some odd happenings that caused the issue. Ryan kept me fully apprised of the situation and explained things in terms that I could understand, being a non-techie. I recommend them without any hesitation. read more

We brought a computer to NorthBay Computer that our son had built from components but couldn't figure out the final step two steps. NorthBay not only got it up and working, but encouraged my son in his efforts, and even made sure the entire system was up including software and monitor. It turned out that one of the cords supplied by the components company wasn't fitting, and NorthBay had the right cord in their truck to complete the job. Yeah! read more

These guys are great! I'd been stressing all weekend about an employee's dead PC, so I took it to NorthBay at 7am on Monday morning. John replaced the power supply, corrected a video card problem, and had me back to the office well before my employee started at 8am! Thanks John and NorthBay Computer Systems! read more

Our Dell desktop computer started to be very, very slow. After doing defragging, scanning, etc., with no success, it was time to bring it to the professionals. We used Yelp to locate NorthBay Computer Systems and based on the reviews we brought the computer there. Scott worked on it for several days and majorly improved the speed. He couldn't locate any specific problem and kept in contact with us during the entire time. He has made some suggestions on what we could do in the future and will help us implement those changes. I would definitely recommend Scott and NorthBay Computer Systems when your computer acts up. read more

Back again to NBCS with an irritating pop-up issue. Grand kids were playing around and downloaded some games - which came with pop-ups! Called and problem was solved remotely in minutes. I love these guys! Additionally, last month I brought in a new pc I purchased for my husband. However, it came loaded with a bunch of junk programs. NBCS cleaned out and up the programs and hubby is all set to go. read more

I've been here twice and had fast, great service both times. This last time, I had dropped my computer and had minor, but still disturbing, physical damage and was having trouble figuring out how to pop things back into place. One of their techs helped me get everything ship-shape, which only took about 10 minutes, and didn't charge me for it. Both times I've been here, the employees have been very helpful and demonstrated genuine concern for my computer needs. Thanks guys! :-) read more

Wow, ethical and quality people run this place! Let me tell you why. My 80 year old father lost internet connection on his computer. His emails are his connection with the outside world now due to his physical condition. I spent all morning on the phone with Xfinity who could not help me. I was told to call windows. I lost patience and decided to bring my fathers computer to North Bay Computers where my father has always brought his computers over the years. John at North Bay Computers after hearing the problem told me not to leave, that he wanted to quickly check something on the computer. He fixed the problem in one second! He said my father accidentally pressed a button that disconnects the internet! He showed me the icon and the key that controls the internet connection. I told him my father wants to pay him. He responded, I don't take money for pressing a button. I've lived long enough to know that many people would have kept the computer for a day and then charged for "repairs ". What a quality person with values! A rare find in my opinion. Thank you John at North Bay Computers, you are raised with great values. I have to do an update here. I scanned some photos and the business that scans photos put them on a disc. When I uploaded the disc pictures to my computer I couldn't open the files! It just froze my computer, twice! So I went to North Bay computers where my father brings his computer because they are excellent and ethical. I brought in my Apple computer and the disc and disc reader. I was told that they don't work on Apple computers but said they would be happy to look at it. Well they spent an hour trying to figure it out! They had an Apple computer in the back that the same thing happened: it froze their computer. So they put my pictures in a thumb drive and then uploaded to my computer the files which I could then open! I asked how much I owe them and was told nothing! Yes you read that correctly: nothing! They spent an hour of their time with my computer problem, fixed it for me and charged me nothing. Wow, I'm speechless. Thank you Jason and John! read more

My 7 month old Toshiba laptop died (went dark) at 6am this morning. It is now 9am and I am posting this 5 STAR review of this repair shop. That's an hour and 45 minutes after I showed up. Ryan Barba literally took it apart while I watched and discovered the CMOS battery was bad after testing HD, power supply etc., explained everything to me and was truly fun to talk to! Great personality too. Thank you and I recommend this shop very highly! read more

They were really helpful and honest. They did a diagnostic for my laptop for free!

I couldn't get on the internet for some reason and called NorthBay to get a quote for bringing it in. I didn't expect someone to spend 20 minutes troubleshooting the problem over the phone for free, but that's what Ryan did. He completely fixed the problem and charged me nothing. Needless to say, I will definitely use this company for any other computer issues I have and recommend it and Ryan to others. read more

Several months ago, I couldn't use my Nook because I didn't have a wireless connection. A friend told me to call NBCS and have them make a house call. They charged by the hour ($110 when I used them) and Ryan even showed up a few minutes early. I thought for sure there would be problems and Ryan wouldn't be able to set me up but he said, "No problem" and it wasn't! My Nook runs great. Since there was extra time left, I had a few more things on my wish list and he did them all. Everything was "no problem" to Ryan. I'm going to call them again and rent Ryan for an hour or so because I have another wish list ready. read more

These guys are fantastic. I've gone to them a few times over the years and they've always seemed honest and very helpful, sometimes telling me what to do to solve the problem even when it would mean no sale for them. Recently, I've gone twice in the last few months because of a problem with my wifi receptivity in my laptop. Both times Jason dropped what he was doing, checked my computer at length, spent about 30-45 minutes with it both times, and gave me suggestions to solve it without charging me at all. Jason is also clear, patient, and explains things in ways a non-techy like me can follow. I would definitely go back to them first with any computer problems. read more

My wife's computer stopped working, which meant she would lose all her data (don't get me started about backups) and have to drive from San Rafael to San Mateo if she couldn't work from home. I called NorthBay and they said I could bring it in immediately. It took them about 5 seconds to diagnose a bad drive, and within a couple hours they had installed a new drive and transferred all the data. They even helped my wife get Outlook set up afterward. True super-heroes, these guys. read more

Ryan gave me the greatest service today! In with my computer in the morning and out a few hours later. Good, honest business people! I've got a small insurance business and have been using NBCS for several years. Don't even remember how I found them. They've always come through and very friendly. Even came to my office over the weekend to get things all fixed up! Thanks guys. read more

Awesome service, I walked in asking for a price quote to repair my old computer, and since it was just a minor silly thing which the technician was able to figure out in a second, they didn't even charge me, old fashion honesty and high quality service. When I arrived at North Bay Computer Systems I was greeted by John Steddin. I had a piece of aduio equipment that needed a firmware update. Absolutely top notch customer service. I wanted to go back online after a three year hiatus so took my computer in to have it cleaned. When I got it back I went online and my computer worked worst than before it was fixed. I spent the next few days trying to search online for the best software to fix the problem. I visited several different forums, asked a question on Yahoo! Answers, and even purchased and downloaded the WinASO Registry Optimizer. Nothing worked. Then I remembered Yelp. Found NorthBay Computer Systems and Ryan walked me through, right there on the phone, and helped me fix my computer. It does not get any better than that! Or does it....? read more

My cousin, who has an IT firm, recommend them to me. I brought in my computer with a hardware issue, and they showed me a neat trick that fixed it on the spot, and they didn't charge me. Special shout out to Ryan B, who was my computer Batman today. Big love for Northbay Comp. read more

My son has been having computer issues and contacted this company on two different occasions and interacted with two different employees and each time was impressed by their knowledge and professionalism and grateful for their integrity and honesty. We worked with James who was just AMAZING. My son is 14 and techie wanna be and I really was impressed with the patient and generous way James interacted with him and answered all his questions. James looked at the computer and taught my son how to problem solve so it was like getting a computer fix and tutor session at the same time. I am writing to let everyone know what a great company NorthBay Computer Systems is, and to give James a big shout out because he certainly deserves it. This is where I will come from now on for computer help. read more

A week ago a friend asked me for a recommendation for a computer repair service. I didn't hesitate to recommend North Bay in San Rafael, who had helped me with two issues last year. The next day I found my keyboard was dead and I couldn't even log onto my desktop computer. I called North Bay Computer Systems and here are more reasons I'm impressed with their service: 1) When I called on a Mon. morning a real person answered. He told me that a technician would come to my home that day. I was immediately relieve. 2) John arrived on a windy, rainy day and diagnosed that I needed a new keyboard. He went an extra mile to get a keyboard me. As a senior, I don't like to drive on windy, rainy days, so I was extra thankful that he brought the keyboard when he returned. He worked quickly and professionally, and I'm happy to say that on the same day, despite the rotten weather, North Bay came through and I also have a new keyboard, which is so pleasing. read more

I work in an office and have used John and his impressive team many many times. Both of our computers have spent time in Northbay's shop getting cured of one infection or another. I can call them for a quick question or a challenging event/repair, and they actually know who I am. I keep their remote-in icon on my desktop in case of emergency-it's the Buddah. Their prices are always reasonable, or better. --Viki, at Woody's. read more

I recently brought a Dell XPS desktop machine (running Windows 7) to NorthBay Computer Systems... after system performance degraded to the point of frustration and frequent, unexpected system and program crashes. This shop opens at 7am, which is great as they can accommodate early morning phone calls and visits. I spoke to Jason, explained the issues I was experiencing, explained what steps I took to try to resolve the issues... and was then invited to bring the computer in for a look-see. I arrived the next day at 8am to find Jason there busy at work. He dropped what he was doing, spent 10-15 minutes recapping what I reported, and explained the set of diagnostics that he'd run. Jason said he'd contact me later in the day with an update. Sure enough, later in the day Jason called to inform me that my primary hard drive was generating errors and would need to be replaced. Fortunately, they had the replacement drive (larger than my old one) in stock, and spent the remainder of the day transferring an image of my old machine to the new hard drive. This took longer than expected, but it was due to the size and complexity of my old machine's profile. The very next morning I received a phone call from Jason saying everything was done and the machine was back on track. I wasn't able to get there right away, but stopped by again the next morning. Sure enough, my Windows machine is back to how I remember it... speedy and reliable. NorthBay Computer Systems with the assist! Overall, the labor and parts prices are reasonable, and the customer service and results were exceptional. I don't think my specific issue was very complex to solve, but NorthBay Comuter Systems handled with professionalism, courtesy, competence, and speed! I definitely recommend this business and will pay them a visit if/when I encounter other issues I can't handle myself. Thanks! read more
