My man had to give me a pep talk before I walked into North Bay Computer Systems with his (what turned out to be)virus laden computer. I was intimidated, panicked, thinking I , the technophobe was going to walk into a cavernous spaceship surrounded by piercing hardcore computer aficionados who were going to eye me with disdain and pity and then charge an arm and a leg because they thought I was so stupid. Instead, I walked into a comfy, welcoming store and received the best service I've ever had in a long time. NBCS staff were unpretentious, helpful, relaxed and well, educational. And no, they didn't charge an arm and a leg. It was a reasonable price for the issue. A year later, it was my turn to have a computer meltdown. This time, Ryan was my superhero of the day. He was like the Flash, taking care of a few customers over the phone, taking care of me, all the while, fingers whirling on the keyboard as he worked on something else. He was never flustered and always cheery the whole time and never aghast by what my computer meltdown was (it was so obvious and so simple to fix that I won't even divulge on it). I highly recommend North Bay Computer Systems for their awesome, detailed, fast, non-sleazy, chillax and cost effective service. Great job guys! read more

These guys are great. They were able to fix our computer really quickly and we went from 160 gb hard drive to a 500! It just screams and working just perfectly. The things I like best about Northbay Computers is a) they know what they are doing and b) they are NICE! There are lots of computer fixers out there who know what they are doing but they just can't communicate with us non-computer expert folks. And this is what sets them apart. I would really recommend them. They explained what was wrong so we could understand and were honest about time and costs. I can't speak to whether their prices are reasonable; computers are expensive to fix, regardless. But we got our comptuer fixed for less than it would've cost to replace it and they were very honest that they would fix our computer rather than replace it so we really liked that. read more

As a high tech priestess you'd imagine that I spend a LOT of time on the computer. And when my technology gets challenging, it's been really hard to find a great service provider that knows more than me and offers quick reliable service. I am soooo happy to say that I found the BEST service in all of the Bay Area at NorthBay Computer Systems! I was on a serious deadline when my laptop decided to take the day off. No power, couldn't turn it on, and the critical file was on THAT machine! I'd been complaining about this particular laptop ever since it got fried in the conference room at the Tiburon Lodge, but I had been nursing it along while trying to convert over to a Mac. I took it in and was serviced by Ryan and John! The greatest guys ever. Not only is the laptop up and running (replaced the hard drive and streamlined the registry), it's running faster than ever. AND they did it in one day! If you need professional help with your computer, you owe it to yourself to take it to the best! read more

Needed to get new laptop battery installed. John did that and cleaned up all the nonsense on the machine which now runs faster and smoother. I dropped in and it was done immediately. Nice folk and reasonable prices. I know where to go in future. Highly recommended. read more

Excellent service...responded quickly and patiently answered all my questions! Thanks so much.

If you are a neophyte like myself when it comes to computer repairs, try North Bay Computer Systems. Honest, dependable and fair-priced, they offer quick turn-around service. read more

I dropped a glass of water on my laptop last night and panicked when my laptop wasn't turning on since I'm moving out and my wedding is in a week. I called Northbay at 7 AM the next day and they got me in ASAP and fixed my laptop in less than 2 hours for less than the amount quoted to me. Excellent service, thank you again! read more

My laptop crashed - wouldn't recognize the charger. I had been through several chargers, thinking that was the issue, but it wasn't. I went to another company in Marin (highly rated - see my other reviews), and waited and waited - they didn't show up to their place of business. Given that I was panicking about losing my data, I called NorthBay. Ryan was awesome and told me to do some tests on my computer to see if I could get it going on my own (who does that these days??), and then gave me the name of another business that could help me (pretty specialized with my particular problem). This all - of course - was free. He was knowledgeable and generous with his time. I didn't take my computer in to NorthBay that day, and in the end decided that I needed a new laptop. But when I DO need a repair shop, I will definitely go to NorthBay. I will pay for service, and that's what NorthBay and Ryan give! read more

These guys did a great job! Had a problem with my desktop "talking" to the ethernet. I've been using another computer repair company for years, but it can be a long turnaround time, so when I saw all the great reviews on Yelp for NorthBay, I decided to try them. They fixed my problem quickly, but found some other problems they wanted to check out. They worked on it off and on in their shop all that day and most of the next, solved the problem and only charged me an hour's shop time!!! Unbelievable, and you can be sure I'm a fan. read more

Oh.My.God. I got home from work last night and plugged in my laptop. Nothing. I checked the power cord, the outlet, I took out the battery and put it back in. My whole work life is on that computer and I had a very busy day lined up for today. Used my phone to google repair companies and found NorthBay Computer Systems. The site said they open at 7:00 AM so I took a valium and went to bed. I showed up at 8:00 and Jason had the laptop up and running almost immediately. He only charged me $60.00, too. These guys are ANGELS! Please use them for all your computer repair issues. read more

A couple of months ago Scott came to our house to straighten out a mess we had created with our imap/pop accounts. Super professional, friendly, reasonably priced...and he got the job done pronto as well as explaining clearly to us so we could avoid it again. Today, I took my new Lenovo Yoga laptop into Ryan at the shop. My large monitors had stopped recognizing my computer and I couldn't see anything. He Fixed and explained all in about an hour, and then he checked my anti-virus software and set me up with a a great back up drive. It was such a pleasure to work with someone so knowledgeable and competent...and he loves what he does and is happy to teach. I really can't say enough good stuff about this shop, it's our go-to place from now on. Did I mention REASONABLE prices!!! read more

This computer repair shop is great. Before, I had my laptop serviced with Geek Squad, which cost more money and wasting my time when they couldn't solve the issue. After being referred to NB Computer Systems, my experience was super pleasant. I had Ryan service my laptop, which was 8 years old. He did a great job in giving real pointers/options in restoring lost files. His advice was: 1) charge me in restoring my lost files and fixing the bugs, which could cost me an arm and a leg. Or option 2) buy a new laptop and charge a few bucks to retrieve and transfer the files onto the new laptop. The first options would have cost more in the long run, so I went with the 2nd option. I went to purchased a new laptop and had my old files restored and transferred to the new laptop. Ryan did it really quick without any BS. He is straight to the point in realistic thinking in ways that is cost efficient for you. This company does not over charge, nor did Ryan charge me for wasting his time with millions of questions. Overall, this place is great. Ryan keep up the good work. I will be looking forward to seeing you with any computer issues. read more

These guys are the best! Honest, efficient, 100% reliable! I've had lots of work done by Ryan...all great! Others there have been tremendous, too! On Saturday, I had a couple of items that had to get done, but black screen prevented me from doing anything. So, i went to Northbay beforre it opened and a person I hadn't met there, Kenny, showed up early and performed more magic that saved me! He was very professional, courteous and efficient, too! If you've got a computer problem, these guys are the answer!! read more

This little company is fantastic! I brought my over-the-top gaming machine to get looked at for an HD failure. They ran some initial tests and basically said that in all likelihood, if I simply bought a new hard drive, transferred the data over, and installed it, my machine would be up and running. How FREAK'N HONEST is that??? Of course I left the machine with them to get fixed (I'm all thumbs when it comes to fixing computers). Plus, they found some errors that my anti-virus scan software was throwing out and suggested I got rid of it... I said sure and they did. In fact, they optimized my machine for me instead of just slapping in the new HD and calling it a day. So my experience with North Bay Computer Systems was awesome. They know their stuff, they're really honest, and they go out of their way to make sure your machine is working properly when you go to pick it up. Oh, and I got my rig back the same day I brought it in. BAM!!! I love these guys!!!! I'm so happy to throw business at a local, small company like North Bay Computer Systems. read more

I'm a web developer and I have many local clients. Without hesitation I send my clients to North bay Computer Systems whenever they have issues with their computers. John, Ryan and Lana have helped all types of my clients - from single computer users to 6 work-stations and a rack server. John'c come out on weekends to help my clients move everything to a new office to avoid any week-day downtime. You won't find another computer tech so dedicated to his clients. The thing that leaves the biggest impression on me is that John really understands the panic that is felt when a persons means of livelihood is handicapped and he approaches each situation sensitively and with the utmost professionalism. I'm so happy to have a relationship where I know I can confidently refer my clients. read more

I just returned from Northbay Computer Systems. As usual their service was excellent and prompt. I have used their services for years and ALWAYS with great results. This morning was no exception. I just bought a first rate Dell computer with top-of-the-line cpu, lots of memory, ssd, etc. I needed to move two hard drives from my old system and realized that by the time I figured out where the data cables were on the new motherboard, then dealt with the fancy engineered case, etc., I could spend half the day and even then get it wrong. Instead, I called ahead and arrived at NBCC by 9:30. They went right to work and had it all humming perfectly in the time I went across the street for coffee. Sometimes I need more complicated work and they do that just as well. The fees are beyond reasonable, especially since they always get the work done right the first time. I'm not really a novice. I've owned and run two computer companies in the years from 1980--2002. One of the first Novell certified technicians, a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, etc. Installed and maintained the wide-area networks in the Marin school district for a number of years. (Though having been out of the field for 15 years makes me only competent enough to be dangerous.) I can say without equivocation that John and his cohort are among the best I have ever seen, and the most honest. I recommend them highly. read more

OMG I wish I'd discovered this place sooner! After a disastrous experience with the Geek Squad at Best Buy, I decided to go elsewhere when I was experiencing computer issues this time. NorthBay Computer Systems saw me with zero wait time, diagnosed my computer immediately and it was ready by the next day (would have been sooner, except my machine is slow so it takes a little while to get through hurdles). Also, they charged me less than half of what the Geek Squad did the last time I had this issue! Go here, you'll be so glad you did. I sure am. read more

After years relying on an internal company IT person, I haven't needed outside tech support until today when Outlook kept crashing on me. I called these guys and spoke to JT who helped me over the phone/remotely to fix it...great attitude and very thorough. Highly recommend! read more

Was looking for a place to get my laptop's motherboard fixed or replaced. Based on the number of 5-star-ratings posted here, I drove from Petaluma to this place. I should have investigated more; their most recent laptop "repair" mentioned here was replacing a CMOS-battery. James was friendly but exclaimed, "That's a laptop!", meaning they do not repair them. Why doesn't it specifically say so here? He seriously suggested I'd try a place across the Bay in Albany. So this trip to San Rafael was in vain, but I luckily found a superb laptop repair shop in Petaluma. read more

Its hard to find a good competent computer technician, especially at reasonable rates. These guys were recommended to me by a supervisor at work to do some maintenance work and clean-up on my laptop. They are very reliable, will turn your machine around very quickly, and know what they're doing. I recall the rate as being about $75/hr, but it may have gone up. read more

Stop surfing the reviews right now and call these guys. Ryan is amazingly helpful. And the whole experience, from the initial phone call with John to the complete resolution of my computer issue in under 15 minutes, has earned them a customer for life. John and his staff at NorthBay are the best.! Just had to buy a new computer and John was so helpful. Set up the new computer, printer and speakers and transferred all my data. John the owner came to our house on his day off to solve our issue. As far as customer service, it doesn't get much better than that. I am grateful for companies that are truly helpful. I walked in to NorthBay with a moderate issue. I've never written a Yelp review before but Ryan's quick service compelled me to share what a great experience it is to work with him. It's clear to me now why there are so many other 5-star reviews here: Ryan is quick, responsive, and highly conscious of what we as computer users, not computer experts, have to navigate from a time and budget perspective. Turns out I didn't need to bring my computer in, but I can promise that when that point in time comes, I'm bringing it here. read more

These guys are the very best computer technicians I have met in quite a while! Ryan and the rest of the team are extremely helpful, articulate and efficient. I had to replace my hard drive unexpectedly and the did a great job that was fast and very reasonable! I used Geek Squad several years ago when my laptop was under warranty. They were slow to respond always trying to up sell me and then charge me for items that were under warranty. Unlike them, North Bay was extremely professional and as I said very reasonable. These guys are very smart and very talented and will take care of you! read more

After many encounters over the years with bad computer shops this one was finally the one that passed the test. I happen to contact the young man named Ryan who was very energetic and enthusiastic and talk to me in detail about what I hoped to accomplish at the store. I had a computer that was not acting nicely and I brought it in and I'm telling you right now it works like it was brand-new now. So it was so good I brought in my laptop right after and had them look at that one too. They're professional their time line they don't overcharge they explain things to you thoroughly and they do good work. I trust their judgment and I have been around enough computer stores in the past and now when I been handled quickly or if I've been handled efficiently and they do efficient and quick. I highly recommend this team of individuals that work here for any of my computer needs the owner was a very very pleasant gentleman who answered all my questions when Ryan was not available one of the days that I had something I needed to ask. Everyone there was willing to offer to take them in and talk with me. read more

My 12-year old was invited by Microsoft to upgrade her operating system to Windows 10. So she did. Afterwards, she restarted the computer and her screen was totally black. The computer was dead as a brick. I took the computer in to John @ Northbay, he told me the Dell hardware was too old to support the latest version of Windows. He went on to say I could pay him a bunch of money to make things work again (back to windows 8), but that I should probably just buy a new computer. So that's what I did. John then transferred all of my daughter's data to the new computer. He also upgraded her headphone and mouse so that she could play Minecraft with her friends. My daughter is now pleased as punch and I couldn't be happier with the service!! read more

Scott has been so helpful with my computer drama thank you so much!!!

I just had an excellent experience with this company. I contacted them because I visited Las Vegas last weekend and (unknowingly) stayed at the same hotel that was hosting a worldwide hacker convention. My friend's husband told me I should destroy my laptop and cell phone if I used any wifi during my visit and I was a bit freaked out to say the least. John at NorthBay Computer Systems took my call and asked me a few questions about where and how I connected to the wifi. Instead of perpetuating my fears and telling me to bring in my devices right away, he basically gave me peace of mind and told me I shouldn't be losing sleep over the situation. He was patient, kind and thoughtful in his responses and I will definitely contact them in the future if I have any issues or concerns with my computers. Thank you John and NorthBay Computer Systems! read more
