To "North Shore Dog", Thank you so much to the owner and staff that works there. I work with a dog rescue as a foster parent and was in need of boarding for one of my foster dogs. We went with North Shore Dog, because I didn't want our foster to be placed in a kennel all day like other boarding places do, with little to no interaction. The staff here took great care of him as he had so much fun playing and interacting with other dogs and staff members, this I know from what I seen on the live web cames offered. He was able to spend all day with other dogs, learning how to play, interact, and follow a routine schedule offered at this facility. This structure is very good especially for a foster dog who is learning to trust, and become more confident to be adopted. The owner has an attitude, and that is why her staff is rude. I just boarded my dog there for 5 days. She is a boxer breed, and I have found that the staff is vastly uneducated on Bully breeds. They keep trying to change her natural instinct due to there lack of education. It was frustrating to pick her up and here that the stuff was being hard on my dog when the way she plays is natural. I also have a major problem with the way they treat POST PANDEMIC DOGS. Most of the puppies born through COVID have high separation anxiety and the hotel doesn't really care if the owner has needs for the pet I was told to fill out my dogs medication chart before boarding which I did in full, and when I picked up my dog from boarding all of her medication, treats, and toys , had not been used at all. She was returned with the wrong dog bowls, and the owners were rude when asked to return them. I was told to not bring dog bowls for boarding . However I expressed my dog is post pandemic and suffers from anxiety so the idea of eating out of a bowl not her own she doesn't do. So I labeled the bowls and was told on DROPOFF it was fine. However on pick up day - they were lost ( they gave me two random bowls) and proceed to tell me to not bring bowls for the future I am disappointed in this place because I had faith with some of the employees but overall 4 employees have been rude , and when I met the owner today, she was rude to me 5 seconds into convo. We have had the most wonderful experience with NSD! We were so nervous leaving our 1.5 year old pug somewhere for 6 days and I can't express how thankful we are for the staff. She was in such good hands! Every single person we've met there has been so kind and it gives you so much peace of mind as a pet parent to be able to check in on your pup through the cameras! I feel conflicted about this place, and I'm not sure I will be bringing my dog back here. Pros: You do not need to do regular daycare to board your dog here. This is a huge convenience since we do not do regular daycare. Provide paperwork that your dog is up to date on shots and is a friendly dog with a trial visit, and you're in. Prices are competitive. They sort dogs into different rooms by size. There seems to be a lot of supervision in the rooms. You can watch your dog on the doggiecam (serious killer to productivity at work lol), and the dogs seem to be having a good time. Some really nice conveniences for owners who don't do daycare or board often. Cons: Two of our dogs have not had great experiences here. Our last dog came here on occasion. He was a herding dog, so he didn't stop herding when he was here. It was great because he loved it, and we picked up a tired happy dog. Unfortunately, he herded to the point of exhaustion, coughing and wheezing when he got home, dehydrated, and his pads were all torn up from running around so much. Not good. Our second dog came here, and she got a stomach bug after her first visit, and she was throwing up and couldn't keep anything down. Fasting, $120 and a vet visit later, she's now fine. In addition, the smell of dirty dog is strong when you first walk in. It does not smell clean to me. I don't know if this is the place for my dog. I'm updating my review after speaking with the owner of north shore dog. All the employees I spoke with were friendly and genuinely seemed to feel bad that something happened to my dog on their watch. The owner seemed to feel bad as well and was compassionate about my anger. They made sure to do anything in their power to make the situation right, including offering to pay for any vet bills. The owner said he would speak with the staff about what happened to make sure incidents like this are avoided in the future. I'm still pretty upset that no one noticed the cut on my dogs lip but I feel a bit better about the way the situation and my anger was handled. read more

The service and hospitality at North Shore Dog is impeccable. The best part about it is that my dog loves going there. Few phrases make my somewhat lazy dog perk up and cock his head, and saying that "We're going to see Tom at daycare" is one of them. They first test everyone's dog to ensure socialization skills, and then they divide the dogs into 3-4 rooms based on size and level of activity and playfulness. Although I've only taken my large playful puppy, I imagine any dog will find a niche. At midday, they have nap time and lunch, so bring a Ziplock with some food and your dogs name on it. These guys have grooming and washing services as well. Sometimes I add in a bath for an extra $10-20, so my dog smells clean after a big day of fun with all the dog slobber that he encounters. read more

I boarded my 2 dogs and had them groomed while they were there, for convenience. The groomer did shampoo them, trim their nails and clean their ears. The actual cuts were very disappointing, with no real shaving and trimming of most of the privates areas. The poodle has lots of uneven areas, the silkie has short hair under his chin, and a punk cut on the top of his head, some short areas on the nose, so and looks odd. I did speak with the groomer and she believes she did a good job. Despite my 17+ yrs of getting my dogs groomed, this is the first time I called to express disappointment , since they both look pretty sad. I won't be getting the pooches groomed here again, and have an appointment on August 24, with their regular groomer to repair their look. read more

The haircut itself looked like a hackjob, scissor lines everywhere and 'breed cut' was obviously not something they are capable of as my Irish Setter came back looking like a poodle. I left my two dogs for the first time with specific instructions to be walked in a leash when taken out for potty breaks (happy to post pictures of my written request), and that I specifically wanted them to use their own water bowl and food bowls from home. (They were staying separate from the other dogs) when the attended asked me at drop off if I wanted their collars removed during their stay, I was a dinner in saying they were to stay on the dogs the entire time. Sure enough within an hour and half later I check on their webcam to find my dogs collars were removed. I immediately called to ask for them to be put on, and the same attendant made some excuse as to why someone else must have removed them and assured me she would put them on. I looked a couple of hours later- still not on. For the rest of their time there I wasn't able to check on them- as the cameras go off for reasons I can't seem and the staff can't seem to justify-so I was not able to check in on them until 11 the next day. I check in on them as soon as they get the cameras up and I find my dogs have NO bed anymore, NO toys, NO blankets and my older dog is sitting in the corner like a frozen statue. Upon pickup I was handed a bed without its cover- no one would answer why it was removed, I had to repeatedly ask for their toys and bowls back, the water bowl was never used and they came out with the wrong collars on. I also found out that they never took them out to go potty- which is what I specifically asked for and wrote in all their registration paperwork and spoke about in person. My poor dogs were crying hystericsllyburst when they got outside because they were holding it for over 24hrs! Instead of calling to smooth things over, the owner called me on my ride back to inform me that the attendant I dropped them off with said I never requested the dogs be walked. The same attendant who lied about putting my dogs collar on when I asked her to? Of course! I also love that while I am trying to explain to her on the phone how I filled out all the paperwork thoroughly and someone should have used common sense when reading "please leave their leashes on during all walks to the designated potty area outside" she felt the need to talk over me, interrupt me and talk down to me. I had to keep asking her to not talk over me to the point where she just kept raising her own voice to talk over me and I had to shout to get a word in. Are we serious here? Totally unprofessional, incapable of taking responsibility for their mistakes and their idea of customer resolution is to call you up and blame you for not making sure the staff doesn't do their job. Lovely! My dogs are now shaking every time they go in the car thinking they are going to get locked in a room for hours without breaks etc. I wish I had read the more recent reviews because I never would have left them! I would have saved $150 and could have kept them safe in their own home if they were going to be locked up like that. read more

Our pup LOVES North Shore Dog and so do we! We enjoyed being able to watch her on the cameras. What we appreciated most was the staff's attitudes, the welcome our dog received every time she came in, and how happy and tired she was after a day at NSD. The groomer cut her nails a couple of times and they were definitely better than some other places (and it was only $10 or so). We have been trusting North Shore Dog with the care of our Chiweenie Cashew sense May of 2016. As soon as i pull into the parking lot Cashew's tail starts wagging and he's just about jumping out of my car with excitement. As soon as we walk in the facility we are greeted by friendly professional staff who always know Cashew by name. They offer several daycare packages, a clean facility, consistent team members, dog training, boarding as well as the ability to check on your fur baby via web cam. The groomer Kristin is amazing. You can trust your dog is having the time of there life playing with other dogs and you will get the peace of mind that your dog is in good hands. I've taken my dog Koko, a Jack Russell Chihuahua mix, here multiple times over the years and have only really started using Yelp regularly, so this place deserves a great writeup. This place is fantastic! I love how they take care of my dog, Koko when I go on long trips when I can't take her with me. They are extremely reasonable price wise and have some fantastic amenities, like self wash, but usually I have them give her a bath and clip her nails on my long trip so she's fresh. From start to finish, my little girl loves coming here. She comes home exhausted for a couple days afterward. Their rates for overnight boarding are reasonable and they are responsive whenever I call. I love how they have divided the play rooms up based on the personality of the dogs they cater to. I think my only minor complaint is the video monitoring app I use to see her when I'm away. The picture quality leaves something to be desired, but I'm not taking any stars off because it's really not their fault. I have to either find a better app to view her or complain to the software developers. Overall I know they take excellent care of my girl. They treat her like she is their dog and value her just like I do. I Highly recommend this place: whether just for daycare or for an overnight stay. read more

I am SO GRATEFUL to North Shore Dog! We are from out of town and were looking for a local place to board our dog during our stay. North Shore Dog was so kind to work with us to ensure accommodations. Drop off and pick up were a breeze. The staff was incredibly happy and friendly! (Even provided helpful tips for the area during our stay!) I usually don't write reviews unless I feel that the quality of service was very bad. If someone step on my foot and apologize is fine, I'll look the other way. Here are the facts: I purchased a 12 weeks old puppy that arrived at our home on February, 9th from a professional breeder, never exposed to anyone else but me, my wife, his breeder, his mom and other puppies in the same litter. Maxi has never been in touch after that with other dogs of any size, breed or age. On the 18th he was taken to an assessment for 15 minutes to North Shore Dog, were he presumably got infected with Giardia. On the 27th before boarding our puppy to NSDog, he was taken to the vet for a regular visit where we dropped stool sample. Still assuming that our puppy was healthy we dropped him at the NS Dog. Monday the 29th we got informed from the vet hospital that our puppy has Giardia and we rushed someone to grab his medication and have NSDog begin treatment. Since I didn't entertained the idea of my puppy getting isolated, we removed the dog from NSDog. These are the facts, no matter what anyone will comment and you use your best judgment to decide what's good for your dog, however when my wife expressed her opinion on the bad experience, instead of an apology she got hit from management with wrongful accusations and useless explanations. It is very less likely that a thunder hits twice in the same spot but if it does, that's a problem. North Shore Dog, please understand that this is a health issue where more dogs can get sick, and you must immediately clean and disinfect your facility also a simple apology should suffice on similar issues, since we didn't asked for refunds or any sort of favors to compensate the bad experience. All it takes is that one dog step into another dog poop and minutes later will lick his paws and get infected with bacteria. Also the resistance against bacteria and germs of a puppy is less than of an adult. read more

Best experience with a boarding group I have ever had! My two dogs were in boarding for my families vacation to Arizona. They took care of both of them very well and went above and beyond when our pug needed emergency assistance for the removal of a bladder stone. The owner contacted us to give us an update on our dog's surgery and assisted us through the process. We were so grateful for their help during this stressful time. Please read before sending your dog here for training and/or daycare. My husband and I witnessed - on camera - their trainer physically abuse and use intimidation tactics on our dog (and others) multiple times. If you are currently sending your pet to North Shore Dog I'd advise you to pay close attention to how your dog is being treated, as well as your how your dog behaves after coming home from there. He shouldn't be around animals and it makes me sick to know that this behavior is being ignored by the owners. It's one thing to ensure an animal is in control and listening, but it's another to dangle them in the air by their collar in frustration. It makes me so sad that this place has bad reviews on this page. My dog is my child, just like everyone else here i put his needs above everyone else and I would not leave him somewhere that I didn't feel that he was 100% safe and taken care of. The staff is always kind and helpful. They owner knows all the dogs by name. We've used NSD for boarding as well and our pup always comes home tired and happy and well taken care of. My dog is all white and obviously gets dirty easy and NSD has given us countless complimentary baths, they really go above and beyond. My dog is so happy there he knows the exit on the highway before we arrive and every single time starts to get so excited I can hardly hold him back from the doors. I think that says everything about this place. Sure sometimes he comes home with some scrapes but people these are dogs that is going to happen. Just give this place a chance and you will see that the bad reviews are just isolated incidents and this place is really filled with a caring staff that will take great care of your dog. This place is a lifesaver! Our 2 Labs go there a couple times each week. You can't even mention the name of the place without them perking up and running to the day (we have to make up different names for it so they don't catch on). Long story short they go there full of energy and come home tired. One thing I like about NSD that is different from other places is that they are open Saturday. Nothing like dropping the dogs off for a day of fun so the family can go out for our own day of fun :) Finally it is the staff that really make the place special. I walk in and they instantly know who my dogs are and start to get them ready. They will let you know if your dog got into trouble, if he was extra playful that day, if he was acting strange (ie sick/something wrong), etc. They are dog people just like I am. My only loss of a star is with the inherent risk of a doggie daycare. NS Dog is no exception from the rule, there is a chance your dog will get hurt (one was bit twice over 3yrs) or sick. We bring our dog Liberty here a few times a month to play. She loves it! the pulls me to the door and you can't even say the word doggy daycare without her going buckwild. I frequently watch her on the camera and she plays the whole time she is there. The dogs are always supervised and beyond that someone is usually throwing a ball or cuddling a tired dog. I cannot say enough about how great Tom and is entire team are! I have been bringing my dog to North Shore Dog almost two years (two - three times per week). The second we pull into the parking lot, she gets so excited and cannot wait to get inside and greet Tom. She sprints out of my hands and into Tom's arm's. It is hysterical to watch. I was very nervous to trust anyone with my dog, as you hear all these bad stories about dirty day cares, no supervision etc. North Shore Dog is the exact opposite. The place is immaculate and there is at least one staff person in each room at all times. An added bonus is there is grooming on site. I have my dog's nails trimmed and she also gets her bath there. It couldn't be more convenient! Tom is incredibly caring and has surrounded himself with an incredible staff. I couldn't be happier with the services they provide, neither can my pup!! I would give 0 stars if that were an option! What a waste of time - DO NOT use North Shore Dog unless you have time to waste. I have no idea how they treat the dogs here because I was turned away for the grooming services I had planned (but they would not take a reservation for). Frankly, it was probably for the best based on how bad the place smelled. I walked in, there was no one at the door, I waited probably 5 minutes before someone popped their head out of the grooming area. If I could give North Shore Dog 10 stars, I would!!! I am actually quite shocked at the hateful remarks that have been said about this place! Are you sure it is North Shore Dog? I have been bringing my dog here for a little over 2 years, 2-3x/ week and don't have a bad thing to say. I have had nothing less than wonderful experiences with Tom, Agape, Tyler, and the ENTIRE staff!!! They treat my dog like she is their own. When we walk in every morning, we are greeted by Tom welcoming my dog by name. No matter how busy, he will get down to her level and let her lick his face and greet him with EXTREME excitement!!! My dog is like my baby, and I am extremely overprotective of her. I was very nervous to leave her on the first day that she went, however, everyone at NSD went out of their way to calm my nerves and didn't make me feel crazy for calling and checking in (numerous times)!!! Being able to flip on the web cam and watch your dog playing is awesome! To this day, I will still call and check in and Tom will graciously walk into the room and personally check on her, and speak to the supervising staff member, and return with a full report. There is ALWAYS, at ALL TIMES at least one staff member in each room. They truly do ALL go above and beyond at North Shore Dog. For example: Giving her lunch if we forgot to pack one, walking her during 'nap time' because she was going through a phase where she would have accidents in the crate, giving her free baths if she got an ounce of urine on her during nap time, playing one on one, staying late if you get stuck in traffic to wait for you, and the list goes on and on. I just have to say, I laughed at the comment that "it smells terrible in there," as I just recently asked Tom what he uses for an air freshener because it smells SO good whenever you walk through the door (this is no joke, haha!). I even ordered it for my own home!! This is why I know that comments such as these are just out of left field, as this is the cleanest doggy day care I have EVER seen. The second one of the dogs goes to the bathroom, you will see someone clean it right up! I cannot say enough good things about them. They are so organized and right on top of everything. Whenever an animal is near due a vaccination, they inform the owners and require documentation. This makes me feel so comfortable knowing that this requirement that I feel strongly about is being watched so stringently. I guess I am writing this review, not only because I adore this daycare, but it is upsetting to see such horribly harsh and irrational reviews being made about a place that I (and my dog) would be LOST without. These people take such good care of our animals, everyday, and deserve to be recognized not criticized for this. There are 60+ other people that agree with me, and feel safe and comfortable leaving their fur-babies with NSD. If you Yelpers out there are looking for a doggy daycare, please don't listen to these bad comments, and go check it out for yourself. They graciously give your dog FREE time there to socialize and see how they do with other dogs. They will do an initial screening with just a couple dogs in the room, and welcome you back for a trial day! Yes, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, whether they are right or wrong, YOU should be the one to decide that on your own. As parents, you know that there is a chance your child could get a bump, scratch, bruise, at any given time, when playing with friends, correct? Dogs are like children. They play and often times play rough. To expect someone to be on top of YOUR dog and your dog only, watching every move they make, is simply unreasonable. If I knew that my dog was antagonistic and initiating spats with other dogs, I wouldn't be surprised to find the same on him. I, personally, wouldn't bring my dog to a daycare, knowing that he is doing this to the other dogs. You cannot blame them for something like this. Richard, you are essentially saying, "OK I know my dog is being a pain and annoying all of the other dogs, but I don't care, that is your problem. You should be on the lookout for my dog all day and make sure that no other animal retaliates to his nips and aggravating bites." When you think about it, it is really unrealistic, no? I'm not by any means saying your dog is a bad dog. However, if you had a child that was going through a biting phase would you blame the teachers at school if another kid bit him back after the third bite from your kid? No, you wouldn't, well I wouldn't. I can appreciate the fact that you don't want to leave your dog at home, alone, all day while you are at work, but I think that your expectations are unrealistic. I would give it a zero if I could. My dog got giardia after going there. It was the most agony I've seen her in and she's had surgeries! Look it up if you don't know what it is. I understand some places don't do fecal testing but they should have noticed symptoms of another sick dog that gave it to her way before she got sick. We've been bringing our dog there twice a week for about a year, we love it! Not only is my dog greeted with a personalized hello every time we walk in the door but being able to watch her on the webcam is a plus! The staff there is wonderful, my dog always walks in with her tail wagging and a smile on her face! NS Dog is a wonderful, super clean and bright place where you can watch your dogs on monitors, and also remotely. The staff is very friendly and greets each dog by name; they truly know each one of their guests very well and they give each dog affection and care. At pickup time, you get the right dog back where his/her leash and collar. That's pretty impressive especially on days when they have 80 dogs to process in and out. {they remove your collar and replace it with one of their own for reasons of safety}. The grooming services are fantastic - my Cavalier is trimmed proper for his breed, and the scissoring is highly skilled. Although my dog is on the quiet side, he can't wait to get inside the door once he knows where he's headed... for a day with friends. The dogs have children's plastic playground equipment like slides and houses to exercise on, the only toys allowed are tennis balls (for safety, to prevent tug of wars), and they have plenty of fresh water and attention from the pack leader in the room. There's an assortment of chews and treats to buy in the lobby, and you can use their facilities to wash your dog. They are even open on Saturdays and also provide boarding. I checked out 3 other local day cares before choosing NS Dog, and I was very disappointed at the dark, dirty and smelly, and loud atmosphere in them. NS Dog has four different rooms, and they separate dogs by size and temperament. The daily price is quite fair, but you can save money buying multiple visits at a time (I purchase 10 days at a time. They even allow you to do half days, and you are not held to any schedule for the day care - that is very important to me due to my weird working schedule. I recommend this day care whenever I meet other dog lovers at the park or on walks. The staff is very kind and attentive, and know each dog by name and all about each of their personalities. When my dog sees she is going to day care, she gets so incredibly excited, she is just bouncing around and pulling to get in as fast as possible. She comes home tired and happy. I have been taking my dog Zoe to NS dog for over 6 years, she loves the place & the people who work there. Everyone is very kind & caring. I know when I leave her there for a day or for several day's she is safe, happy & content. Being able to see her any time when I'm at work or away via the camera's is alway's reassuring.
