My puppy Luna has been going to Riverdog since I rescued her and she loves it. She jumps at the door anxious to get in and play with her friends. She comes home exhausted too. I've been bringing my dog to Riverdog since I adopted her 3 years ago; first at their Union Square location in Somerville, and now in Peabody after I moved. I am a huge animal and dog person, but I feel like the staff have me beat. They are always so kind and upbeat, clearly love the dogs, and do such a great job. It's evident they really get to know the dogs and are knowledgable in training and dog behavior. To boot, very fair pricing, and they offer a shuttle service, which makes my life a lot easier. I pay a little extra for the added service just to keep going to them because I trust them, my dog seems to really like them, and I love how big the facility is - and with indoor and fenced in outdoor space, obstacles, couches for the dogs. I've never had an issue, and given how excited my dog is to see the employees who pick her up, and how sleepy she is when she gets home, I think she approves too. Highly recommend! read more

We have used river dog for our German Shepherd on four occasions. I'm happy to report that each and every time she comes back happy healthy and tired. I'm writing this review mostly so I can post these two photos. One shows a normal week with us where she gets about 7000 steps a day, and the second shows a week of her steps at RiverDog where she gets about 15,000 steps per day. They clearly take great care of her and I can tell by her step count how much fun she has playing there. They always answer the phone and correspond quickly via email. read more

RiverDog Peabody is absolutely amazing our husband and I can't say enough fantastic things about them! From our very first time here we knew we and our puppy would love it here! Well where to begin, my dear sweet pup went to another doggy daycare and training facility in my town. Only to see that she was kept isolated in a cage alone for the day and was not let out to socialize with other dogs. I was told she is to scared and freezes. Almost $1000 later I was heartbroken for my poor pup. I felt that my dog was terrible, yet wasn't giving up hope for her. I decided to call RiverDog. I explained the situation to the owner Greg and honestly told him about my dogs experience at the other daycare. He offered to meet her and evaluate her. Her evaluation consisted of 4 hours of drop off evaluation. I was updated one hour after drop off and sent a video of her playing with all dogs. I almost cried. Yes, She was Happy! Nellie currently attends RiverDog in Peabody, with her tail wagging and engaging in play and fun. The Staff takes the time to let me know what she did and how she did upon pick up. The facility is extremely clean and offers a great variety of healthy food and bones. We also like their hours with drop off at 6:15 and pick up till 7:30pm (who does that?) RiverDog! Totally recommend this place for doggy daycare. I have a little chiweenie and she honestly prefers people to dogs - they took her back and introduced her to each dog one by one, taking care to keep away larger dogs/ dogs that had too much energy for her. I always worried because she's so little, but they made me feel great about leaving her here. As I was dropping her off for her first day, another pup-parent was gushing to me about all the staff and said not to be nervous at all. When I picked her up, the staff talked about how much they loved her and while my pup was excited to see me, you could totally tell that she was comfortable there and had a good time. Dedicated staff and loyal customers - two good signs of a great business! I will definitely be using them weekly while I'm at work and whenever I go away and she needs to be boarded. read more

Highly recommend RiverDog B&B for daycare and boarding. We were traveling for a wedding and vacation to the east coast, staying at the Marriott in Peabody and a home in Salem. After speaking to Greg (one of the owners), I could tell he was knowledgeable and thoughtful which made me feel comfortable bringing our dog, Tucker to stay for the weekend. Drop off and pick up very easy, they even emailed the paperwork ahead of time so that I could have complete the day of drop off which was an added bonus since we were on a tight schedule. By the way, their questionnaire is the most thoughtful questionnaire I have ever filled out for a daycare/boarding (and we travel with our dog LOTS). You can tell they really want to know your dog. Proving early on to be not only a good person, but a good business and provide great customer service to the dog owner and the dogs. Interestingly, I had called various places what also stood out to me was that RiverDog has someone on the premises 24/7. This is very important to me because if there is an emergency- you need someone to be able to attend to the dogs quickly. Upon arriving, our dog ran up the stairs and was very happy to meet Greg for the first time. I like that they let the dogs sleep with each other in the evening. Hear that Tucker even had a sofa and he was able to perch himself on the back, just like at home! When we picked up Tucker, he was happy to see me but happily he did also take the time to say goodbye to Greg and the other staff member (I never got your name!). I could tell Tucker was well taken care of and comfortable during his stay. I would not hesitate to bring your dog to RiverDog B&B. read more

I decided to board my dog here for the weekend because of all the positive reviews but I was not pleased to see the condition of my dog when I picked him up. He was completely covered in urine and feces. I wanted to be excited to see him but I couldn't even touch him he was so gross. His stench was so awful we could barely stand the 15 minute car ride home, even with the windows down. We immediately brought him in for a bath and I couldn't believe the amount of filth that we washed off his body. In fact it took two shampoo and rinses to get him clean. I had to also wash his leash, collar, and car hammock as the stench rubbed off on it. I understand that dogs may get a little dirty and I'm used to it as my dog goes to daycare several times a week. This was another level. I also provided the facility with the exact number of pre-measured meals. All they had to was open the bag and give it to him. I was surprised when I came back with half the food... If I ran this facility I would be embarrassed and ashamed to send home dogs the way I received mine. read more

Riverdog in Peabody is such an incredible place to take your dog, whether just for the day, or boarding. We have boarded our little lightning rod of a dog several times there now, and she LOVES it. Things I love about this facility: 1) Number one, and most important, the staff. They all clearly care for the dogs. They can always identify your dog just by looking at them, they are always current on whatever your dog needs, etc. They take into consideration the needs of every dog based on their needs and personality. Also, it is staffed 24/7, so there is always someone there if a dog needs something. 2) The facility. It is crate free boarding, so the dogs are free to roam around and play with each other. They have play times, nap times, feeding times, etc. There are also lots of cool structures for them to roam around in, like castles, houses, pools, couches, etc. 3) INSTAGRAM!! They have an incredible instagram page where they post pictures of your dogs every once in a while. For instance, we went away this past week and boarded our dog for 2 days. We saw TONS of pictures of her while we were gone, having so much fun with all of her dog friends, and enjoying playing with the staff! 4) The rates. The rates are great for the amount of care you get. You could probably board your dog elsewhere for SLIGHTLY less, but the amount of care they get is next to zero. Most places board you up in a cage and let them out temporarily. If you truly care about your pup, I suggest you board them here instead of something 5 dollars a night cheaper. 5) A bit separate, but the evaluation process. If you're going to board your dog here, you need to go through an evaluation process for about half a day. Sounds daunting, but thats a GOOD thing! They make sure that your dog is a good fit for both the facility and with the other dogs to ensure their safety and comfort. I was so glad that this was part of the process. I could probably come up with a million other reasons, but please check this place out! We won't be taking our dog anywhere else unless we move far from the area. read more

Boarding experience this past weekend was not good. We picked up our dog at the end of the day on Sunday. Asked to see where the dogs were -- it was hard to see over the partition. One dog was in a crate but we were told the other side was open. The place smelled of urine and feces -- we were told it smelled like that at the end of the day. We had to bathe our dog when we got home and clean out the car -- all four paws, and her muzzle, were discolored yellow (from white) and wet with urine. read more

I brought my pup here for an evaluation. I was nervous because I didn't know what to expect, but I was immediately met at the door by Jess. She eased my concerns and was so great with Kobe. A couple things for first time visitors to be aware of: the sign hasn't changed from Boston Canine to RiverDog yet and the entrance to the daycare is in the back of the plaza down the ramp. When I picked up Kobe 5 hours later, Jess made sure to update me with how his day went and gave me a few recommendations on how to help keep Kobe happy and healthy! Kobe fell asleep in the car ride home, so I know he had a day full of fun and love! read more

We have boarded my dog Petunia there multiple times during our vacations for the past few years. They are AMAZING. They post pictures and Petunia always look like she is having fun. They were also very accommodating this past week when we missed our flight, they offered to let Petunia stay the night, when she was supposed to be picked up earlier in the day. If you're visiting this location just know it's behind a plaza down a ramp. I have been taking my dog to the same doggie day for years and it started to get a little out of the way since moving but it was worth it because they were so good with my Remy. I was so relieved when the same people that bought out that doggie daycare had a location closer to home. The people that work at both locations are some of the kindest and caring people. Unfortunately I have to agree with the boarding experience. My dog smelled horrible, leash and collar had to be washed along with giving him a bath immediately when we got home. I also noticed all of his meals weren't given as well.. He also isn't acting like his happy self. When I picked him up they told me they had over 60 dogs in the facility. Seems a bit overloaded to me and my poor little man was covered in scratches, bite marks and bleeding on one of his paws. Never again. read more

My puppy, Belle, absolutely loves Riverdog. She runs and plays all day, crate free. I love that the staff takes exquisite care of the dogs(I've heard horror stories of other daycare- nothing like that at Riverdog!). Everyone on staff truly loves animals. Belle started daycare a few days a week at 4 months old. I was so worried about her being so young! But Riverdog was great with her- introducing her to only other puppies at first and making sure she was safe at all times. We've been taking her for about 9 months now and I have nothing but good things to say about the care she receives. read more

This is the best daycare facility! The staff are dog fanatics - so friendly and VERY caring. They seem to love all the dogs equally. Some staff are dog trainers and provide helpful training tips. RiverDog is amazing! My dog loves it here - he'll start getting excited as soon as we get on the highway, and he runs up the stairs to the lobby and into the play area. I'm sharing my great experience today at RiverDog Dog Daycare, which is on Route 1 South in Peabody, right before Winona St. (There's a strip mall and a Gulf station right before Winona, with a driveway between the two buildings. Go down the driveway to the back, and you'll see another building behind the front one. The daycare is on the second floor of that building, and you'll see the entrance at the closest end to you.) The former owner of Boston Canine, our favorite dog daycare and boarding facility for many, many years, sold the business when the owner moved out of state. There was an interim owner for a while that we didn't care for, and she closed a short time ago. Well, a new owner, Greg, took over and re-opened this week, and he and his staff are fantastic! Greg owns RiverDog Daycare in Somerville and bought the Peabody facility (that has a giant open space with a special anti-bacterial floor, an outdoor area, a kiddie pool, and a bunch of other features) as his second site. He doesn't board dogs in Somerville because it's too small, so he drives Somerville clients up to Peabody for boarding, if those folks need that. Another positive about the place is that they still have my dogs' records, so I didn't have to bring them in for behavior evaluations or make more copies of their health records and emergency forms. Today, both of my dogs spent a half day there, and they had a blast. The place is spotless and doesn't smell like dogs are even there. There were maybe 10 or so other dogs there, and they were all clearly happy campers. My girl black lab, Autumn, is 12 and has the beginnings of laryngeal paralysis (common in labs), so she pants and hacks easily. My boy yellow lab, Damon, is 15 and has a neurological condition that makes it so his back legs don't work well. Greg and his staff accommodated both dogs so well, watching for problems, making sure they were "forced" to rest in a little area they set up for the two of them, and having us drive up to the back door to bring them in so they didn't have to climb the steep stairs up to the front door. I couldn't be happier with our experience today, so if you are looking for daycare or boarding for your dog, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Riverdog Daycare. read more

I would rethink ever leaving your dog at this daycare center. The staff is nice but the owner is rude and unprofessional. The facility is dirty, definitely not up to date. The dogs are not taken care of properly they are left with minimal water just so the staff member on at the time doesn't have to constantly be cleaning up. Yes they do post pictures on social media but only what they want you to see. They say it's a crate free facility but if your dog acts up they crate them for however long they feel it's necessary. The discretion is left up to the staff member and when it comes time to feeding the dogs its done rushed and unsanitary. The funny thing is the website will tell you that the owner Greg is a lifetime dog lover lol yet he doesn't own a dog nor has he ever and he's rarely ever at the facility to ensure everything is being run properly. I would never leave my dog at this daycare center!!! read more
