I haven't been to North End in a while. I was really looking forward to a really good fish fry. The fish is about half the size it used to be. The fries were good. The coleslaw had a weird taste to it. Mac salad was good. The pop was flat the waitress did try to get me one that wasn't. Ketchup was very vinegar tasting. The service was good. We made a reservation online for our party of 8 to make sure we would have a table on a Friday night. We had to wait 25 minutes after the reservation time for the table to be ready. Our server didn't come over to ask what we wanted to drink until 15 minutes later. When she finally came over to ask for our drink order, she let us know that the food was 45 minutes backed up. Things overall felt hectic. Some of our drinks didn't come, some of the entrees came out as appetizers. Most of the table was very pleased with the fish fry. I ordered a Greek salad which was very tiny and comparable to a side salad/ wouldn't order again based on the size. Maybe we came in on an understaffed night? I usually don't do ratings but I ordered a takeout meatloaf today and it was just bad and absolutely should not have been served. I've had their meatloaf in the past and it used to be excellent. Not sure what happened. Today, it appeared to not be a slice of meatloaf but maybe smashed up burger patties or meatballs. There was no loaf or form to this meat and it had the consistency of a sloppy joe. It was also a tiny portion but appeared bigger in the container because it was doused in gravy and a large amount of cold lumpy mashed potatoes were hiding underneath despite there already being a side of mashed potatoes in another section of the tray. The gravy tasted like jarred gravy but watered down and the corn had zero seasoning, not even salt. It was supposed to come with garlic bread. It did not. Being from Buffalo/Kenmore I've never had a roast beef on weck that was this terrible until recently when I came to the North End; beef was old and leathery. Au jous was more like gravy, and French fries were obviously reheated rather than fresh. I very discreetly mentioned this issue to the waiter who's attitude thereafter was very rude, bordering on aggressive, as he reached in front of us to remove utensils before we were ready, and practically threw our bill on the table. Heard about this place and stopped out for a fish fry on a Thursday, first loved that option since my wife works in the service industry also and works most Fridays. 2nd we heard you could pick your sides which was great since she can't have gluten and it always seems to be a hassle at other restaurants. Well still seemed to be a hassle, waitress said she could tell her the sides but then charged us for the sides that were included with the fish fry, she never came back to check on us and it was not busy so we just paid the extra and left. Lesson learned always check your bill and maybe next time head to the bar to get it fixed instead of paying extra for items included in your meal. read more

Crystal was excellent at serving us promptly and precisely. Her southern voice provides a calming affect making you feel like you're at home. The food was delicious...I ordered the smash burger and loved every bite. The fries were freshly hand cut and crispy...just the way I like them.. The North End Bar & Grill provides a very chill atmosphere with positive vibes all the way. I highly recommend visiting Crystal and her team to grab a bite to eat, a beverage to sip on, and watch some sports on one of their multiple televisions. Haven't been here in a while so I decided to visit 11/11/24 for a fish fry. Restaurant was pretty crowded but I sat at the bar. Heather served a good vodka and soda. I ordered a fish fry but then thought I wanted a seafood platter. I requested the platter and had a an old fashioned whilst waiting for my meal 45 minutes in not yet...but...very busy. OK about 50 minutes but, it looks good and flavorful There was a nice sized piece of haddock. Also about 8 shrimp, tuna Mac and potato salad also fries. With is being Ash Wednesday, North End Grill was a good pick for fish fries in Kenmore. We started with spinach bread. It looked great, but the bread was not crispy enough. For dinner we got a shrimp scampi, broiled lemon wine fish, ahi tuna fish wrap, and captain's platter (beer battered fish and fried shrimp). Served with fresh cut fries, mac salad, cole slaw, and sweet potato fries. The beer battered haddock's exterior had a similar taste to fried dough. It was a pretty thick layer. I preferred the broiled fish. The scampi's noodles were cooked perfectly and served with 6 large shrimp. The fries were good, but could have been crisper. Ambience....you enter into a bar scene with a room to the side for seating. The tables are mostly meant for up to 4 people, so we crammed in with 5. Waitress was friendly and attentive. Place was festive and decorated with heart balloons for Valentine's Day. Menu is pretty large with pub food options: burgers, wraps, sandwiches, salads, wings, etc. Fountain soda with free refills. Parking lot behind. Wednesday is rib night...$2 off the rib dinner. We didn't have time for dessert so we brought a piece home....chocolate peanut butter pie! read more

We love north end! Prices are a little steep but portions are always huge and cooked well. My favorite here is the wedge salad and when they have the special banana pepper soup. Bar/pub spot in Kenmore that was conveniently located minutes from the spa I was going to for a service that afternoon . Walking in , I thought this might not work out .... It was very loud and crowded from another event going on . After a few minutes, I was greeted and told the event was winding down and they could still serve us lunch . So, my friend and I decided to give it a shot . They have your basic pub fare, I liked that they had broccoli cheddar as their soup of the day so I got the soup and Turkey sandwich lunch combo . My friend got a bbq chicken sandwich with fries. Food actually came out quickly and I really liked my selection. Soup was perfectly creamy and the sandwich was fresh tasting . My friend thought the chicken sandwich was a bit dry, but some ranch made it better and the fries that accompanied the sandwich were tasty . Poor fish fry. Ordered 2x coleslaw and got none. Ordered French fries and got about 15! For $27 it was not worth it.

After scurrying here late at night with ravenous hunger, my pleasant-ness level as a customer was teetering on the edge of passive aggressive. The waitress kindly offered us the menu, but when asked about gluten free: said "nothing at all." We had a GF person in our party, so I was like...isn't there something? And she was like, nope. The GF person in our group shusshed me and told me she'd figure something, lest I agitate our server more. I get it, it was probably a long day for her too. After a few minutes, I ordered a cup of french onion soup and their BBQ burger (it was burger night on Tuesdays with burgers being $2 off). The burger came with BBQ sauce, bacon and the most amazing fresh cut fries. It erased all the pains of the day and was cooked perfectly to order. The french onion soup had a nice deep broth and onion flavor that I loved as well. All was right in the world. Did my friend ever find her GF bliss here? my husband and i hadn't been to North End for 2 years because it was hard to get a table but we decided to give it a try again. it was a Friday at around 4 pm and we walked into the restaurant. There was one table in the back room. The restaurant was very dark and very empty. There were no servers just a guy who handed us a menu. I ordered a fish fry but didn't get any of the usual questions about preferences about fries or salad choices. My husband ordered a smash burger with bacon and cheese. The fish fry was okay but the smash burger was just a preformed hamburger patty that looked like a hockey puck with cheese melted over a slice of bacon on a stale hamburger bun. This was no fresh hamburger smashed down it was a frozen preformed little patty that you can buy at McDonald's just not as juicy as McDonalds. It was a very tasteless unforgettable frozen burger. The dining room was very dark and hardly any lights on. Very noisy from the 5 people at the bar and they no longer have any lottery quick draw. This bar and restaurant used to be very very busy but was like a ghost town And this was on a Friday during Lent. Very overpriced for the food you received. The Rueben was awful...soggy bread, one slice of corned beef that was not tender at all, hardly any sauerkraut and just not good at all. The fries used to be exceptional... not anymore. Wife and mother in law had baby back ribs.. one was somewhat acceptable while the other was tough. Certainly not falling off the bone. I've been here a few times and each time it has been consistent. The staff are very friendly and attentive. We usually sit at the bar each time we go and the bartenders are always pleasant and conversational. The most recent time I visited I ordered a flatbread special they had with spinach, mozzarella, tomatoes and balsamic glaze. It was very good, basic but yummy. For our entree my husband and I split a double order of chicken wings 1/2 medium, 1/2 garlic Parmesan. They were big, crispy and had just the right amount of sauce. My husband also ordered a cup of chili and he said it was very good and tasted homemade. We've come here three times already, once for drinks and twice for food. The food is good and the customer service has been great each time we have been there. The bathroom is clean and they have a few bar games to play (darts, Connect Four) if you want. Excellent service! We sat outside on the patio and enjoyed the weather, albeit warm but the iced tea was delicious and refreshing. The meatballs come with garlic toast and I asked for them parmesaned - this made them taste more like an Italian meatball - I'm glad I did because the sauce isn't as garlicky or seasoned enough for this Sicilian and the meatballs taste more like meatloaf - not to say that's a bad thing but definitely bear this in mind if you order them. They were also a bit tighter in texture than I'd like but still tasty. There must have been almost a pound of meat - they're huge and for just $6.99 a great deal. The side salad was yummy - I highly recommend the lite Italian dressing - it's made in house and very close to how I make my own. The server was very friendly and the pacing was perfect. Great fish fry! With the pandemic, ordering fish frys in Fridays can be hectic. Luckily, while I was in town I saw this place offers fish frys on Thursday AND Friday during lent. Ordering was easy (although not online at this time) and pickup was quick. One thing that can ruin a take-out fish fry is having the hot, crispy fish put into a styrofoam container and getting soggy on the ride home. Not here! These were placed into pizza-like boxes and we're very crispy when I sat down to eat! Beer battered, comes with coleslaw, mac salad and a side. Hand cut fries with mine. If I could give this establishment a negative star rating, I would. This was the first time we had ever visited this restaurant but their menu looked good and the pictures of their food looked even better. I had a party of 10 coming in on a Friday evening so I called both the day before and an hour before to confirm theyd be able to handle our group and were assured they were. When we got there, our table was set. The fish fry smelled amazing and our server was so friendly and communicated their policy on big tables (one check, auto gratuity) clearly. All was going smoothly. We placed our order (wraps, wings, burgers, nothing extravagant). This is when the night went south. It took a long time for food to start coming out which is understandable but what isnt acceptable is, it took almost an hour from the time our first entree got delivered until the last was brought out. Our server kept apologizing and continued to be attentive. I finally asked her why a manager or owner hadnt come over to apologize or check on us seeing this was really bad. She went to ask the owner to come over. When she came back, she said the owner was busy and would come out soon but they were going to remove our pops and the server's gratuity from the bill. Completely unacceptable. Finally, after countless asks, a woman comes rushing from the kitchen over to the table. I asked her why removing the servers tip would be her response to an obvious kitchen fail and why theyd continue to seat new tables when they cant handle the business they have? Her response was to throw my debit card at me and tell me to get the fuck out. Cue huge yelling match as we try to scramble to find some cash to leave for a server who worked her butt off. Thankfully when we reached the parking lot, the last of our group had hung around because a man was waiting in the parking lot to ask about the incident. Thank goodness, it wasnt just myself and my daughters who were already freaked out walking to the car because he would have approached us alone. And its a small lot so there was no getting to my vehicle without engaging with him. It is very clear these two owners dont actually know how to run a restaurant. I don't know how I haven't written a review for North End Bar & Grill at this point. I've eaten here or from here frequently over the past few years and never had a bad experience. I have gotten take out more frequently than I have dined in because the bar area, in non-pandemic times, was quite loud. It was the type of place that was probably a good go-to if you were looking to watch a game and make some new friends while having some drinks. There was a dining room on the opposite side of the bar but it was quite drab. However, the dining room has now been renovated and windows have been added. It looks fantastic with old Buffalo pics on the wall. If you haven't been here in the past year or if you are picturing this location in a previous incarnation, you really need to stop in and check out the updates. They have also updated their patio which is where my friend and I sat today. Our server Emily was fantastic. But honestly, the service here is always great, even placing phone orders and picking up at the bar. We both ordered salads and a meatballs & garlic toast appetizer. For an app under ten bucks, that was a great value. The meatballs were the size of softballs! We definitely did not each need our own. I liked the consistency of the sauce but found it under-seasoned for my taste. No biggie, it's not an Italian restaurant. My salad was also huge and quite enjoyable. I had a whole other meal to take home. Emily was even so thoughtful to bring us both separate containers to take home our extra meatball and salad. What I love about North End Bar & Grill are the choices. It would take a pretty picky eater to not find something on this menu to order. The two most popular things for me to take out from here are the burgers or a fish fry. For the burgers, if you are ordering one with cheese, they offer a several choices of cheese including pepperjack. The standard side is fries but for a small up-charge there are a number of things you can substitute. I always go with the onion rings which are big, battered, and fantastic. The fish fries are available on Thursdays and Fridays only. They are huge and come with two hearty portioned sides. Again, you have several choices there. During November they do a turkey dinner which is just delicious comfort food as the weather gets cooler. The Rachel [melt] is also yummy. A friend that I ate with here once had the meatloaf and gave that high reviews as well. It's a nice casual place in Kenmore, NY. We had the Caprese Flat Bread and Broiled Haddock with white wine and lemon butter. Both were delicious. My vodka martini was made exactly how I asked. This was my first time ever visiting North End and there are multiple reasons why I would go back. Idk what it was but this place is so inviting. Sometimes when I go somewhere for the first time I feel a bit uncomfortable, but here I felt like a regular. The staff was amazing and there were a ton of screens to watch MNF. There is a parking lot in the back but it's pretty narrow so I had to back out of it in order to leave. Medium Garlic Parm: I asked if I could mix the medium and the garlic parm and was pleasantly surprised that they said yes! More of the garlic parm would've been nice and they weren't as crispy as I like them but the flavor was great! Thank you again for accommodating me! Medium: I'd say this was a standard Buffalo medium. A solid wing but nothing too crazy. Jamaican Jerk: I never know what to expect when Jamaican jerk is on a menu. These were more on the sweeter side and tasted like they were made with cinnamon. Not bad, but not for me. Cajun: nice and crispy and loaded with Cajun seasoning! These had a nice kick to them that snuck up on you. Mango Habanero: not as spicy as I was expecting these to be! The sauce was sweet with just a hint of that habanero kick. Overall I'd probably give them a 7/10! I definitely will be back to try other things on their menu. My friend got a meatloaf dinner that looked out of this world.
