I am a stereo newbie, I don't really know up from down. They quoted me a price to replace my stereo, and ended up having an $80 extra charge at the end for wiring or some crap. They did not ask me if it was okay, they mentioned something along the lines of it will be a little bit extra because of some reason. On a $300 installation, $80 is not a little bit extra. It's over 25% extra. Now the real problem. They cracked the trim on BOTH sides of my stereo upon installation. They never said a word, they kind of just superglued it back together. When I went to armor all my dash about a month later I noticed both cracks. Subtle yes, but if you break it you need to tell me and fix it right. I feel burned, like they took advantage of a newbie, effed up my dash, and glued it back together hoping I would not noice it before I got out of the store. Basically, I would NEVER go back to this place, and NEVER EVER recomend it to anyone. Unless you are okay with hidden charges and them damaging your car, avoid this place like the plague. read more

I am not at all happy with this shop, and I feel that they are dishonest. Last Christmas (Dec. 2014) my parents wanted to have an aux input jack installed into my 2007 Honda Accord to work with the factory radio. This cost $150 in parts and labor on my car. When the car came back, their was a stereo aux cable just fed through a hole they drilled into the back cubby in my vehicle. A more professional job would have been to put in a surface mount jack, but that's not why I'm writing this review. Almost immediately I noticed that when using this device the left channel of the audio would drop out. It would only come back if I restarted the vehicle. From this behavor I knew it had to be something with the aux in adapter itself. I called the shop and they insisted that it was a bad cable. I reluctantly agreed to have them replace the cable (which they apparently had to order). Of course, it exhibited the same behavior after this and I took it back again. They again supposedly just replaced the cable, and of course it yet again did the same thing. So I called them and insisted that they install a new aux in adapter (and not just replace the cable). They supposedly did this, yet after that I noticed that now the right channel of the audio dropped out and was replaced with interference from the engine! I could not believe it. This was a well rated high-end shop that couldn't get a simple aux input working properly. I have lived with this ever since, until recently. I finally opened up the dash myself a few days ago, because I decided to see for myself what might be going on. I was shocked at what I found. I saw an obviously used aux input adapter that had the brand label almost completely scuffed off. It honestly looked like something they had just lying around or pulled out of another car. This was the "high quality" adapter they supposedly used?! I did find a serial number and model number on the part, and through some research found out it is a very old part (no longer made) adapter manufactured by Neo Car Audio. The port that plugged into my factory head unit looks like a splice job. You can see where they heat-shrinked some wires. The fact that they did that tells me that this particular unit may not have originally been intended for a Honda, but I am not sure. The RCA cable they used was ok, but at only 3ft it was too short and was being pulled on too much. Needless to say, I am pretty angry. When I paid for this service, I expected a NEW part meant for my vehicle and QUALITY installation. This shop had multiple chances to do this, yet they did not. My thought is that they are in the business of more expensive work done on more expensive cars, and thus did not really take my job seriously. The unit they installed is being replaced with a USASPEC Bluetooth interface that is made specifically for Hondas. Once completed, it will fully integrate with the factory unit and buttons and track display will work with it. I am doing this myself as I now don't trust this shop. read more

I am a car audio enthusiast. I have been involved with the industry for many years. North County Mobile does quality installation. Installation with the upmost attention to detail. They charge more, yes... but you get what you pay for. A side by side comparison, would show that any other shop might do a remote start alarm in 3 hours. While a north county mobile technician might spend 7 hours in the car. The difference would be a rat's nest... quick tap wires and zip tie up... VS a clean hard to locate installation. No bulges of wires or signs of hack installation. Seeing there work, I can vouch they spend time to really do the job right and take the time to maintain organized and clean installation. Yes you pay more... but you truthfully get what you pay for... read more

I can't say enough good things about Mike and his shop. I've had a high end stereo (several thousand dollars) put into my nice car. Recently I had a $400 dollar job put into an old VW. Both sound great relative to payment. There are a lot of shops in the Oceanside area, most are on the low end and brag about watts. Mike cares about sound and what you want to hear. Tip: take your own cd when listening to the speakers and units. You want to hear your own music. There are also some very high priced shops in San Diego that charge twice what Mike does and provide poorer service (I've tried them). Mike's shop fits perfectly in the middle. He'll work with your budget and find you the right product for your needs. His guys do great work and you can never see the cords and he services what he sells. The stereo in my Saab is running great 10 years later. As is the one in my wife's Lexus (five years). And the old bug we just worked on sounds great too. If you want a cheap installation and buy your junk on e-bay like one reviewer - go elsewhere. However I see no reason for that poor review. The reviewer was quoted a price which he thought too high and went elsewhere - that's not a rip off. A rip off is when someone promises one price and lies about it. Mike never does that. He'll quote a price that is fair and then hold to it. They have a wide range of products there. For the bug I spent 100 for the speakers. For the saab over a grand. But you can find what fits your budget and make it work. I know many high end car dealers who send their clients there and cannot strongly recommend it enough. read more

I went to North County Mobile on Saturday morning, radio sound wasn't working. 5 minutes and $5 later it was fixed unbelievable. the day before I took it to Al & Eds autosound on Hacienda, they charged me $20 to take it apart for evaluation. Made an appointment - we had agreed on a time and on a price - they were ready on time and they honored the price even though it took longer than they originally thought. The owner is very nice, a real pleasure to talk to. My CDs had gotten stuck in my Mercedes CD player. I had taken it to a local car music place, a local Mercedes repair place, an excellent dealer. None of them could get the CDs and some would have charged just to look and see what was happening. At North County - they took care of getting the CDs out, unharmed. Price was more than reasonable and less than the "look-see" people wanted. I have no connection with the business. They were recommended by the dealer that could not do the project itself. read more

When my car a 2003 Infiniti G35 had a problem with the AC and radio (they were linked together) we took it to a lot of the local audio shops in san diego and North County Mobile Electronics were the only ones who was willing to install a double din on my car and wire an extra speaker for the navigation. Most shops I asked around charged me more although some of the less reputable ones charged less, I was not trusting my car to them and North County Mobile Electronics offered me the best solution. I dropped off my car and they did a great installation in a timely manner. The price was very fair for the amount of work involved and the quality of the work done. I have gone to Mike for years for all my mobile needs. He installed a great multi function Kenwood system in my Lexus with Navi, CD, DVD, ipod player, radio, you name it it has it and fits right into the exact spot where the old radio was located and looks sharp. He also wired our truck camper with inside and outside speakers and multi speakers in the camper itself. He has done other smaller jobs for me too, all turned out well. Last time I was there, I found out there is an excellent glass replacement shop right in the same space as Mike; First Glass and they replaced my damaged windshield on my Miata helping me make the claim with my insurance company and all I had to pay was my deductible. You can get your windows tinted there too. Located right on Oceanside Blvd #2950, now just west of the NAPA store on the south side of the street. Highly recommended based on all my past experience with this and now these businesses at the same location. read more

These guys spent about three days working on my rv/van updating the sound system, alarm, backup camera, tv etc. and they did a great job. The owner is pretty funny and easy to talk to. He calls it like he sees it and is very upfront. Removing my old alarm turned out to be a colossal mess and I was expecting a call that they couldn't do it for the original estimate but Mike stuck to his original quote. This is my first review on Yelp & it is probably longer than anyone wants to read. In summary, NCME deserves 6 stars for my stereo installation! I wanted to get a radio/CD player that was as simple as possible-no bells & whistles. I contacted Alpine and Kenwood. I picked the Alpine CDE-170. Frank at NCME told me they chose to not carry Alpine but that I could buy an Alpine unit and have them install it. I contacted Crutchfield and they sold me exactly what I needed including a wiring harness and a dash adapter. I was confused by the configuration of the factory console unit. It is a double din and the CDE 170 is a single din. Crutchfield sent the necessary adapter. When I first went there, Frank was gone, so I talked to him on the phone. He quoted a price of $80 for the installation. When I brought it in, they installed it in about 25 minutes, so Frank only charged $50! They saw that a rat had made a nest of tissue paper behind the console, inside the dash. I removed the tissue & put it in the vehicle's trash bag. The installer emptied the trash bag and Frank made sure that I washed my hands with soap. This concern for my well-being deserves six stars! Frank is very polite & has a good sense of humor. He is very professional and has to have experienced installers to do all the different things they do. There's no need to even look at other car audio places. Just go to NCME! read more

Committed to tint my windows, when I made the appointment to change out my deck. I called after dropping it off to make sure that was still happening. I was simply told No, don't have time. I took the nonchalant owner's word that the speakers his shop would install would deliver a quality sound without requesting that he provide a demonstration. read more
