Jose was super friendly and honest ! I called twice on different occasions to ask a few questions. He was not at all rude or unpleasant. I was worried that maybe I might have an issue with my brakes on a recently used purchased vehicle. He offered to take a look for no charge This made my day, one less worry to worry about!! read more

Jose was so kind and wonderful to work with! Very honest & considerate business owner! He gave me a very reasonable price for oil change, brake fluid, and replacement cabin filters. My car was also completed very quickly! Jose is very accommodating and I'll definitely be coming back for my next maintenance needs. Thank you, Jose! read more

I can't say enough about these people. My husband needed his window fixed. He went by for an estimate and the owner said he'd order the part right away. They made a plan for my husband to come back on Saturday at 9 AM. He did and discovered that the owner came in just to do his window repair and it took him about 45 minutes. What great Service and Care! read more

I initially called around to get quotes, and Esha was incredibly welcoming on the phone. They were able to get me in the same day and provided superb service. Jose, the owner, was very helpful and explained everything in detail for my mustang. He clearly showed me what was causing the noise. Overall, the value for the work was excellent, and I am very happy. I highly recommend this shop for honest and great brake work! read more

Taking time out of my day to say how grateful I am for Jose and his team at North County Brake Pros! My car was making horrible noises from the rear passager side, I had a feeling it was my brakes or worse, a damaged rotor. I reached out and he got back to me almost immediately and was able to get me in the following morning first thing! He showed me exactly what was wrong and what needed to be done, gave me a proper estimate that I felt was on point. Didn't push me to get any other work done, I am happy and so is my car. read more

I had all fluids flushed and pads and rotors replaced. Jose had it done in just a few hours and the price was extremely reasonable. The 2nd time here was just as good as the first. read more

I've been coming to this place for years. They always do a great job and are trustworthy. I'll be a client of his for life. :)

I took my car here because I always hear good things about Jose and that he's reliable. I've taken my car here before, so has my boyfriend, his parents, and aunt. However, based on my previous experience with my car, I'm so disappointed. My car was making a rattling sound and also needed new brake pads and rotors. Jose did a great job with the brake pads and rotors -- it ended up costing around $800 for parts and labor. Like another reviewer mentioned, he marks up the parts by more than 100%. But ultimately, that's not a huge issue for me because he's running a business. When it came to the rattling noise, I communicated which noise it was and he was extremely confident that my car needed a new engine mount. That repair cost $600 for parts and labor. Again, I needed it fixed, so I agreed to it. When I picked up my car and drove away, I immediately noticed a super loud noise coming from the car -- definitely not what you want to hear after paying $1200. I drove back and had him check it out. He said it sounded like something with the shocks, but insisted it wasn't their fault because they didn't touch the shocks. However, when he lifted the car to inspect it, he found that one of the shocks had been left loose by his son. This made me extremely frustrated for many reasons. I found out the same thing happened to my boyfriend's parents -- his son also left something loose on their car. On top of that, it shows me that no one at this business test-drives the vehicles after repairs to ensure the work is done properly and safely. The noise was so loud, it would have been impossible to miss. Jose was not very apologetic about his mistake. He told me it wasn't a safety issue, but clearly it is a safety issue if something is left loose in my car. Also, the shocks shouldn't have even been touched for the repairs they were doing. To top it all off, the new engine mount he replaced didn't fix the rattling noise and my car still rattles. So what did I pay $600 for? I couldn't tell you. I'm extremely disappointed and I will not be back here again. I also would not recommend this place to others. I'm a college student, I drove over an hour to take my car here and $1200 is not money I have just lying around. I work hard for every dollar while in school and I feel completely taken advantage of. read more

Jose is such a great guy! He's honest, and always so helpful. You don't find many mechanics like him anymore.

Jose reached out to me within 10 minutes and I was able to talk to him on what I needed done. I made an appointment for the following day and he worked around my schedule which changes hourly with the line of work I'm in. (Medical Device) I arrived the following day at 9:30am and as he was very upfront with me on what the work he would have to do once he was able to see what was going on with my brakes,. So there was no surprise for me. He set me up with his Wi-Fi PW so I could continue to work, and he took my car to the back. He returned approximately 30 minutes later and gave me the prognosis. Again, I was not surprised as he was upfront and gave me worst case scenario. I gave him approval to move forward with fixing my brakes, and he was done by 10:40am. I highly recommend Jose from North County Brake Pro's!!! You won't regret it!!! read more

Great Communication. Great price and an honest and ethical approach to running a business. Will definitely be back. Thank you Jose!

When I called North County Brake Pros to make an appointment for them to look at my rear brakes, I was able to reserve an appointment the next week. Jose and his team provided prompt, reliable service. I appreciated how Jose carefully explained my options. He was friendly and provided me with an accurate time frame and called to let me know that my car was very low on oil. He was able to change the oil in addition to replacing my rotors and brake pads earlier than the estimated time frame. I will be back to see Jose for all my automotive needs....turns out that North County Brake Pros provide a variety of mechanical services. read more

Here I am again... I've used Jose's services for many years, and he does fantastic work. That said, I'm cheap! So, I do what most "Cheap" people do which is shop around for the best price. I'll get estimates that vary from one shop to the other, I mean huge differences. My wife calls me stupid for still shopping around and you know what, she's right! This is what you get when you call Jose: * 100% truth - Doesn't sugar coat and tells you what you NEED to hear not what you WANT to hear, and I respect that. * Fair Price - I had front and back brake, strut, and sway bar replacements, and he was still less than the other shop quotes. Done on time as promised. * Updates - We were out having breakfast while waiting for our repairs and received a call and text about other repairs needed. He'll give you the options of what's critical and what can wait. You have control. * Repair - I can only say I have never been disappointed with the work performed. This is my shop, my mechanic, and it should be yours. Sorry, I'm a talker... read more

Jose is amazing! I will never go any place else. Honest as the day is long and gets things done perfectly and quickly!

I am very new to the Oceanside area, so finding a reliable car service place was going to be a challenge. Since I needed my brakes done, I found Jose at NCBP and I am so glad I did. I felt as though he was so honest when it came to pricing. They quoted me for free, and wouldn't work on the car unless I felt comfortable with the price. Most other places charge you a quote fee, which did not sit well with me. When speaking to Jose over the phone, his voice resembled my cousins, so I felt comfortable talking to him. Lastly, one of the things that Jose said really stuck with me, and I may get his quote wrong, "I want you to trust our work, because we want to see you again. But we want to see you for a different car issue, not the same one we were supposed to fix in the first place." That REALLY stood out to me. This told me that he really trusts his crew and the work they do. I hope this helps anyone in the future. Thank you so much NCBP for the brakes and oil change. I will always choose your body shop for any other challenge my car faces. read more

I went to this place to evaluate my brakes. They gave me an honest evaluation and stated there was plenty of life left in the brakes and I didn't need any work. Very professional and friendly. Will go back to them when I do need work done!!! read more

Definitely the place to go! Jose is great. He responded almkst immediately to my quote request through Yelp, and I was able to get an appt that fit my schedule. I ran into car problems Friday afternoon, called North County Brake Pros because they were one of the only places open on the weekends and they were able to take me in Saturday morning. The guys figured out I got contaminated gas that Friday which damaged my fuel system and needed to be cleaned out. They were quick, honest and communicated with me every step of the way. Fantastic customer service, thank you! read more

My first time here and he took good care of my car. Good, honest mechanics! After a quick estimate of what I wanted he got me in quickly, the price are great, and the waiting time was right on time. Definitely the nicest auto shop I've ever been to in a while. read more

Highly recommend! Jose went above and beyond. He gave me a recommendation on an upgrade on my brakes due to many reports on my vehicle wearing brakes down faster than other vehicles. My last set wore out in a fraction of the time that they should have from another brake shop. He was great to work with and is now my go to brake expert. read more

Took my car to N County Brake Pros and Jose late last week because while having some suspension work done at the Benz dealership I was told the vehicle needed new rear brakes. Was prepared to be without the car for the day and to have to spend some money to have them replaced. Was surprised to receive a call a couple hours after drop off and for Jose to tell me that my brakes had over 50% of life left and there was no work needed at this time. So rare to find this level of honesty, especially this being the first time we have ever brought a car to this shop for service. Needless to say he earned a customer for life! read more

Needed a front brake job for our Hyundai SanteFe and decided to give NCBP a try after chatting with Jose (the owner) a bit. He is just getting setup at the new location there off O-side Blvd and there's no sign up yet on suite D; the front office area is currently being renovated but don't let any of that throw you off. Jose is a straightshooter, and my B.S. detector didn't even give me a wiggle. I used to turn my own wrenches back in my earlier days but those days are behind me. However that past experience gives me the knowledge I need to find good auto service. I believe that I found that in w/ Jose at NCBP: good timely service at a fair price. And the most important question is: would we go back to NCBP? Yes I would. Thanks Jose and good luck at your new location. read more

I was in need of new brakes and pads so I researched and visited a handful of shops. Not only did North County Brake Pros have the best price, but Jose was also very informative but not pushy. He explained that left rear brake pads deteriorate faster on some newer cars due to the emergency breaking technology. He was very respectful of my time and completed the job promptly. I was very pleased with the professionalism, price, and quick turnaround. I will surely return if I have any future needs. read more

I was quoted a price for service and did research to make sure that was a good price. I found it was fair, essentially $150/hr in labor + parts. When I got there he tried to bait and switch me, up charging another 3-400 dollars from the original price when it was very clear over the phone what was being requested. With the new price, it was about $400/hr in labor, mind you these are the same parts. I'm taking my business elsewhere. read more

Jose and JR are legit. Jose communicated through yelp like most business don't. Not robotic answers, or auto generated prompts, but real dialogue. And when I showed up to the shop, it made sense. Jose is a real dude, running a real shop, doing business just as he communicated through messages. Real, personal, and without all of the automated, corporate, cold treatment. Quick work, affordable price, real service, from a real shop. I'm all about this type of experience. I wasn't just a number on the wall. Jose treated me well, put out a solid service, at a solid price. Stoked to have found my "brake guy," and would refer him to anyone. Thanks Jose! read more

Brakes began grinding so checked for a shop nearby to get the problem diagnosed and corrected. North County Brake Pros (NCBP) was close by and had great Yelp reviews, albeit limited (less than 30). Called NCBP midday on Sunday and was able to get an early appointment on Monday. Notified NCBP that that the front disc pads needed to be replaced along with at least one rotor and requested that the rear drum brakes also be checked for wear. NCBP's recommendation: replace disc pads along with both rotors and one caliper on front, rear drum brakes are fine but recommend cleaning them out for $60, and replace all four wheel bearings. Approved work to be done except for the drum cleaning. Work was done by COB Monday. Visual inspection verified the pads, rotors, and caliper were indeed changed; although not verified, assume wheel bearings were actually replaced also. Final invoice listed 2 hrs. labor @ $100/hr., for $200 total labor. Total charge for parts was $769.65 and the invoice did include part numbers. A price check on the parts listed on the invoice indicates all parts could have been purchased for $329.46. Thus, the price markup for parts on my repair work done by NCBP was $440.19, which equates to 134%. A Google AI search for fair parts price markup for auto work done in California elicited the following response: "In the California auto repair industry, a "fair" parts markup typically ranges from 40% to 60% for common parts..." read more

I had North County Brake Pros replace my front brakes. I found their price to be very reasonable and the completed work to be first rate. On top of that, Jose is a wonderful guy. He recommended some futer work on my rear suspension and even showed me the price of the parts when he made his quote for that work. Then he said it wasn't necessary right now, but needs to be done in the future. I will be back to get that done. I've found an honest, trust worthy, reasonably price brake and suspension specialist. NCBP you are now my go-to for this kind of service. read more
