This was our first time there, so we had to try one of each: Creme Brulee, Blueberry Jelly, Strawberry Frosted, Cookies and Creme, Rainbow Sprinkle, Lemon Curd, Maple Glazed, and Apple Fritters. This is what a donut shop should be. High quality, good variety, super tasty and not overpriced. My entire family from toddlers to senior citizens loves North Country Donuts. We set the alarm for 7am when online ordering opens and the in store pickup process is quick and painless. Today we tried mixed berry jelly, ricotta cream and maple glazed and all were delicious. We still have passion meringue and blueberry honey lemon to try. Notes: online ordering opens at 7am but it does close at some point (not a set time) so better to order early. Also the store closes when donuts run out and I've seen them shut as early as 11am. Parking is usually available just outside the store. read more

Oh my gosh- absolutely incredible donuts- some of the best I've ever had!! Located on one of the main streets in Morrisville, there is ample free parking around. Open only from 8 to 1 Thursday-Sunday, you want to make sure you arrive early (or order online) to secure the best selection. I ordered a dozen donut holes (mostly maple, but some cornbread? I had previously tried the maple donut holes (granted day old) so I knew they were amazing. However the cornbread holes put them to shame. So moist and rich- delicious!! I also got an apple fritter, honey cornbread donut, and bananas foster donut. I have not tried them yet but I know they're going to be delicious. I highly recommend going. If you're in stowe for vacation, make the trip to North Country Donuts! read more

While they were out of cakes - placing an order in advance is recommended - we were tempted by the available items. Picked up some chocolate cupcakes and the delightful cheese brownie. These are yeast raised...and really good! Not the cake style donuts that seem to be all too common. These are classic, the good stuff. And wow, these donuts have such a nice texture...and the fillings, frostings, and glaze are all so good from what I tried. I tried the: - Hong Kong Milk Tea. This is a donut with powdered sugar on the outside, and the filling was supposed to be Ceylon black tea and sweetened condensed milk I believe? I was most excited for this one, but of the ones we got I would pass on this next time. I was hoping for more tea flavor and this didn't deliver on that. I wouldn't place any aspect of the filling on taste alone, without being told what it was...I would just think "a Boston-cream type filling with...something different about it." - Banana Split (chocolate ganache, banana filling, rainbow sprinkles, with a maraschino cherry on top). How fun. I would describe this one as playful. The banana is like banana cream pie filling, and does not taste artificial or too sweet. It seems like it would be a great treat for children, for all ages, and for anyone who likes banana.( I think adding a strawberry element to this somewhere would have made it VERY banana-split-sundae.) Of the donuts we got, this is the only one that was oily...oily outer dough in the bottom - not too bad, didn't effect taste or quality, just left a mark in the box and had to wash hands after eating it. They all left a mark in the box eventually with sitting, but this one was immediate. - Strawberry Kiwi. Looks like a regular jelly donut, but the jelly inside is strawberry kiwi. Fresh made jelly, with little kiwi seeds in it so you know it's real. A nice pink color to the jelly, too. I would describe this as unexpected (not your typical jelly donut) and surprisingly punchy. I tried only a piece of this one and I wouldn't recognize the jelly as being strawberry or kiwi without being told. It tasted almost like fruit punch, a sweet punchy tropical flavor. - Apple Fritter . This was surprisingly good, and was actually one of best things in the box. Possibly even my favorite. I loved it! Usually an Apple fritter would seem boring to me, but this one is a stand out. Just terrific. The light cinnamon flavor, small pieces of apple, and the just perfect (something about the glaze was really good and impressive.) Having had this, I'd love to try some more of their glazed options...and I usually go for frosted instead of glazed donuts! Plus, their fritter is pretty sizable, it makes for a good portion on its own and a good value. You can pick at it through the day, share it, or eat it all at once. - Chocolate Orange. Classic donut with a hole in the middle, with a chocolate orange ganache on top. Really nice. I like chocolate orange, but in recent years orange things give me heartburn...I'm happy to say, no heartburn from this! - Chai Spice. This one just tasted like a sugared donut, no discernable chai qualities or standout spice flavors. Next time, I'd pass on the chai spice and milk tea. For me faves were, in order: 1. Apple Fritter 2. Chocolate Orange 3. Banana Split (I did really enjoy the banana split, but the chocolate orange was simpler and more of an any-time thing and a little less overwhelming.) I usually go for filled donuts, so this is unexpected, the ones here that I'd maybe skip over as " too basic " we're the best! read more

AMAZING baked treats. I love stopping in for a treat for myself or my sons. They have a great case of high-quality, gourmet goods. My favorite is their dense, rich chocolate brownie. Last Sunday morning at 7:30am I was waiting to submit an online order at 8am with great enthusiasm to try the Boston cream and maple glazed donuts, BUT I fell back asleep until 11:30am AND missed out on the donuts. They go super fast! Per my Airbnb host, this place sometimes has a line in the morning, and per the lovely owner of the bakery, many people order donuts online first thing in the morning. I may have missed out on the donuts this time, but I definitely won't on my next visit to Stowe! Anyways, I still really love to support small businesses especially bakeries. I ordered a brownie, chocolate chip cookie, a cookies and cream cupcake, and an apple cider donut. All were delicious but the cookie and brownie were my favorite. I was excited to call this bakery to get donuts for my wedding because of all the yummy looking flavors that could fill up my homemade donut wall. However, when I called the woman on the line responded that "we do some weddings, but for 28 donuts we just can't do that for you." That response immediately took the wind out of my sails and made my feel like my wedding was "too small" or "inadequate" for them to accommodate. Very disappointed to say the least. read more
