Decided to break for lunch in Hardwick during my travel to the NE Kingdom. Though Hardwick is…read morecute, it's more of a pass through town than a destination. There were a handful of restaurants that were open but none appealed to us. Most seemed greasier than what we were in the mood for. Checked out their coop (grocery) but their cafe was closed. So bought some prepared foods at the coop and found Connie's across the street close to a cute little park. They are situated on a corner in a yellow painted Victorian close to a bridge. They have a few tables for indoor dining. I opted mine to go. Connie's is simple and wholesome basics done well. ++. Food is breakfast, lunch and baked treats. I tried their roast beef sandwich on their freshly baked wheat bread and some chips. Drink wise they have a few sodas and ice tea. +++ price is very reasonable. $8.88 for my sandwich and chips and rest of $10 into their tip jar. +++. Service was friendly and prompt. My sammie was made in 10 minutes while they had 2 other customers' orders. 2 ladies worked fast and my sammie was exactly as ordered :-) ++. Parking is street and free. They seem to have many locals. But this is a small town that likely rely on tourists so check them out if you fancy wholesome breakfast options and sandwiches!

This place was on our way to our first destination this morning and we said screw it, let's give a try, Ooof!! we would've have a better tasty breakfast at McDonald's for half the cost. Yep!! This place is actually really pricey for the quality of food you get here. I ordered the egg, cheese sandwich on a biscuit (because we always like to try the local restaraunt's biscuits) and I added their maple sausage. I wanted to get an almond croissant as well until I saw a fly in the pastry cabinet just have his way on all the pastries. NOPE!! This was probably one of the worse breakfast sandwiches I have ever had to date. The biscuit itself was hard as a rock, dry and crumbled upon touch. It was lousy as heck. The maple sausage was a thick patty, but small, almost like a quarter size round compared to the size of the biscuit. So for what sandwich and a cup of coffee was around $23. Heck no! Was that even worth it with how bad inflation is these days Not sure how they have such high ratings, but just be warned. You're welcome!

There were 2 younger girls and a man in there. All friendly and chatted with me and explained what each of the things were that they had left. I got a Raspberry Scone, Cinnamon Roll, and Lemon Bar, I just couldn't make up my mind so I had to get them all. The cinnamon roll was at least 5-6" wide and just absolutely to die for. The brown sugar pecan glaze cooked through the layers and rolled in was amazing and I ended up eating the entire thing in one sitting. I didn't care if it was going to make me sick or not. Even at room temperature it was that good, I can't imagine warmed up for a few seconds how much different it would be. The lemon bar was perfectly tart and not sour at all and smooth and creamy and again, all around amazing. The flavor of the scone was great, a little harder than I would have liked it to be, but it tasted great, and I'm sure with some coffee it would have been that much better when softened slightly. Nevertheless everything I got was amazing and wish it wasn't 700+ miles from home.

Very very fresh. Specials the day was chicken and waffles, but we decide to go with something on the menu. I got the.I busy feed breakfast sandwich, which is scrambled eggs and cheddar cheese on a fresh homemade in-house baked English muffin. I also have fresh bacon from the farm. I also got a side of homemade bacon, onion, jam, and a mixed berry fruit salad which came with strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries. My other half his choice was the fryer which was two eggs with their own homemade sausage patties white sourdough bread also made in House and fries. Except the sausage bag was cooked a little too much. Everything else was fantastic. Nice fresh water. The coffee was never ending the serve of Mary. She was the only server here OK with like 30 to 35 seats and never missed a beat was right on top of everything brought coffee around several times pictures of ice water very friendly open kind recommended things really one of a kind person. The kitchen is run by the owner and her husband. He does a cooking. She does everything else they have a bakery. We ended up taking home a ham and cheese croissant as well as a cinnamon roll and a fruited danish. Everything is made in house and fresh every day so when they run out, they run out which is a good way to be. It looks a beautiful herb and vegetable garden. Everything is so pretty. It's a little parking lot that probably fits 12 to 15 cars. We gonna adjust the right time because about the next people coming in with four and they see them behind us and then the next couple that came in they were already over capacity at that point and had to go out and come back and now they are seating. But everything went smoothly. Yes, it does take a little bit longer with a small place like this, but you know what the food was well worth the wait. I'm hoping to maybe recommend them for our bike run next year if we do this again to Nootka lodge. Also, in case I didn't mention that the only part of the post the coffee was perfect. The husband only had one little complaint and that was the sausage was cooked a little too much. But that's all everything was just out of this world.
