I can now see why. There is clearly a focus on good, friendly, service. That was evident with every person with whom we interacted, whether it was a hostess, a waiter, a bartender, or even the guy who filled our water glasses. That was especially helpful to those of us who had not been here previously. The menu is diverse enough to have options for any preferences or degrees of hunger. Our orders ranged from soups to appetizers to full meals. Everything came out quickly, and all our meals came out at the same time. Everyone was satisfied with portions and taste. I believe the only negative comments the entire evening were around the cocktails. One person mentioned that their price point was too high. I would have liked to see more non-alcoholic options on the drink menu, such as crafted alcohol-free cocktails. When we first arrived, I said we were hoping this would become our regular monthly dinner location. They certainly did their part to help make that happen!

Another friend, Pam, had highly recommended Emma Jayne's Restaurant which is only a couple of traffic lights from Trader Joe's - a perfect location for our trip. The restaurant sits just north of Fred the Butcher (next door, literally) for those who frequent that establishment, on Route 9. There is off-street parking. When we arrived at 12:30 p.m. on a Tuesday, the front parking spaces were full. (Note: there may be parking around back; I didn't check) We thought we might have to wait for a table. Wrong! The restaurant is surprisingly spacious with two large rooms furnished with tables that were thoughtful spaced apart. A photo of an adorable young girl, whom we assumed was the dining establishment's namesake, was on the wall. Let me be sure to mention that the ladies room, which smelled faintly of bleach, was spotless. I mean REALLY clean! About the food ... my friend and I shared an appetizer of Fried Calamari. It was an ample portion (took some home) accompanied by sweet chili sauce - a nice change from typical marinara served at other places. However, the calamari was small and overcooked. As a result, what was presented was a plate of small, overly crisp rings of 90% batter. No squid! For our entrees, Barb chose the Chicken Salad Sandwich. She requested that it be served on a pretzel bun (touted as homemade) for which we were hit with an up-charge of $3.50. The chicken salad had grapes and walnuts in it and Barb liked it very much. The up-charged pretzel roll did not appear to be homemade. Very disappointing. Had she known it would be uninspiring, she would have accepted the brioche roll. Macaroni salad - not very exciting - accompanied the sandwich along with a pickle. I love seafood and was torn between ordering the Fish and Chips (halibut) and Lobster Pot Pie (an appetizer). Our server, Drew, gets a gold star for suggesting the second one when I told him I wasn't a big eater. Apparently, the halibut, while highly recommended, is a sizable portion. The pot pie was superb! The rich, creamy sauce was divine. I couldn't eat it all and will enjoy the rest of it for lunch today. Emma Jayne's menu has something for everyone. Our server, Drew, was informative and attentive. While we may make other food choices (skip the calamari and pretzel bun but keep the pot pie), we will definitely return.

We had a reservation at 6pm and felt invisible when we walked in, just to be seated in a table 5 feet away. Maybe they were understaffed, but friendly staff could have gone a long way here. We started with cocktails and they were all good. We didn't really have opportunities to order more, so I only tried one. We started with the Fried Burrata and Caesar salad. The fried buratta was delicious but not enough bread, or a spoon served with it so most of the sauce went to waste. We loved the pesto on the dish. The Caesar salad was extremely underdressed and under seasoned. None of us enjoyed it. We then ordered entrees, I got the flat iron and they ordered the carbonara and the burger. The flat iron was ordered rare, and served blue. The steak and sauce on it was cold. I didn't complain because I didn't want to try and call her over, they did not check on us after the food was delivered. The sauce on it was okay but I think it took away from the flavor of the meat, very strong cumin and chili flavor, a little gritty. The fries were good and the broccolini was mushy and overcooked. The carbonara was also a miss, it was overly peppered and unpleasant to eat. This dish was ultimately sent back and we explained it was overly peppered and inedible, and she ordered something else. My friend who ordered the burger really enjoyed it and it looked great. The server was not accommodating at all and barely checked on us. We sent food back and the server just threw it away without a thought in the world, and it remained on the bill. At this point we just wanted to pay and leave. Bad service can ruin a night, and it put a damper on our girls night out. My photos came out impeccable, unfortunately most of it looked better than it tasted. I could look over bad service if the food was great, but when neither is, it's a hard pass from me.

This is a "cafeteria style" brunch buffet in which you serve yourself and also are asked to bus and scrape your dishes. I have no issues with this format. This brunch is a well laid out with numerous options. There was eggs, bagels, bread, fruit and many Korean items and some sweets. Ice water, coffee and Tea and apple juice all included with other optional drinks available at a small additional charge. Most were $1 or 2. The Food and atmosphere were both excellent. The Dining room, buffet area, and the coffee and drink sections were very clean and tidy throughout our visit. I didn't take enough pictures but there was 3 lines of tables of different salads, sides, noodles, hard boiled eggs, hot items, fried items, desserts, etc. We sat on the deck, overlooking the grounds and the breeze was nice and weather was perfect. After we took our time eating, we walked the grounds. Great meal and activity. I'll definitely return.

There is better Korean food in town. What bothered me was that we went for an event and paid event pricing for what seemed to be their regular buffet and there was no event at all. Nothing that was advertised was there (vendors, music, Korean traditions etc). Also, as per the handwritten sign inside, we were charged even more than the advertised rate and though the event said that the walking trail was included with bruch, the sign inside informed us that we would have to pay another $7 on top of the already not-as-advertised rate. Honestly though, we looked down at the walk and it didn't look very appealing anyway. Overall disappointing. And neither of us felt well after eating.

We tried half a dozen dishes, from dumplings to the inevitable General Tso's Chicken, along with sauteed pea shoots, mapo tofu, roast duck, and a noodle dish with beef that was supposed to be very spicy. The soups were average, with way too much corn starch. There's a fine line between "thickened" and "gummy", and they cross it. The spicy noodle dish, which we were warned was "very very hot", wasn't hot at all. Unfortunately, the restaurant has no "Chinese hot mustard" available - the waitress couldn't give an explanation as to why, so perhaps it's not considered authentic (since it's usually made with Colman's) or perhaps they just don't want it? At any rate, we were brought chili oil but the taste of adding it is completely different from the taste of an actual Sichuan spicy dish. The duck was average at best. Mapo Tofu was very spicy despite being labelled only one out of five. It was good but so salty, we only tasted a little of it. Sauteed pea shoots were excellent but again, too salty to eat. The four of us found this restaurant slightly below average to average in the food offerings. If you go, and you don't like massive amounts of sodium (even in dishes that aren't soy sauce based!), insist on low salt or no extra salt. The duck and soups were the only things that weren't ultra-salty. It's unfortunate because it's the ambience and service were excellent.
