I went in expecting something similar to places like Denny's or IHOP, but I was genuinely surprised by how energetic it felt inside. The place was packed, but the wait ended up being worth it. The service stood out right away, our server seemed genuinely happy to be there, and that kind of attitude makes a big difference. It felt welcoming and comfortable, like somewhere you could sit and enjoy your time without feeling rushed. We ordered a wide variety of dishes, and oddly enough, my favorite ended up being the Thanksgiving dinner. The Chilaquiles were ok but they were cold. The Hawaiian French Toast uses a different kind of bread that's nice, but their regular French Toast is just as good. I didn't care for the a Spam that came with it. I got a side of sausage patties and they were good. The steak was scary and gray color, but had a decent flavor and texture. It seems like it was cooked on a grill that wasn't hot enough to give it a good enough sear. read more

MANNNNNN THIS GEM!! Who knew they had a $9.99 deal! And it's amazing! The norms is so old school inside super fun diner vibe the cushions could use a deep clean but it's a great interior. The deal I went for was the $9.99 double quarter pound cheeseburger with fries and wow this was just perfect sooooo juicy the toppings were all good and crisp the house sauce was amazing the fries were great. For $9.99 I may take this double cheeseburger and fries over TK.... My wife got a breakfast platter that was also incredible! Service is fast and efficient friendly great spot. Norms is my favorite diner, and it's almost a requirement whenever I go to LA or OC. It has the comfortable vibes which simply cannot be beat. The music and the atmosphere will always make me feel like home. This time it was the Costa Mesa one and it did not disappoint. Started off with a split pea soup, my all time favorite soup. Then once the entrées came out, it was time to feast. The habanero jalapeño burger is unmatched. It was cooked to perfection. Paired with onion rings, and it was a perfect meal. To end the night we had single scoops of Thrifty Ice Cream, which I highly recommend be part of your meal too. Dalila was our waitress and she was superb. Went constantly above and beyond by checking in on us and making sure we were always well taken care of. I just wish they were closer, but they're always worth the drive. read more

Tina the manager was so sweet and extremely helpful in the kitchen I watched her while I was eating and I couldn't help but notice how hands on she was! I work nearby the Norms restaurant, and I leave late at night to go home. One night around 8:30 PM, on my way to the bus stop, I witnessed a homeless lady giving birth on the front lawn of Norms. My phone was dead, so I told the manager of norms the situation and she said they would call 911 to help her. A day later, I show up to work a little bit early around 9:00 AM and I see the homeless lady's umbilical cord still in the front yard of the Norms building, implying the homeless lady was not attended to, and had to cut her own umbilical cord and leave the property. I told the morning shift manager and he refused to take me seriously at all, continuing with his shift. This was probably the most horrific weekend of my life and the acting managers and staff did nothing to help that poor woman. Truly one of the most sickening acts of humanity. read more

Norm's is what I would consider a classic diner. It reminds me of a Denny's. It was good for a standard breakfast. I had chicken fried steak with eggs and pancakes. All was good except for the gravy. I asked for the gravy on the side the 2nd time because of the chalky flavor. That kept the fried steak batter crispy. For whatever reason the gravy tasted too grainy like it had too much flour or corn starch. It took away from the flavor. I liked the other aspects of the meal though. The egg and hash brown and pancakes did not disappoint. All in all a good hearty breakfast where you leave full and in some cases with leftovers to go. The service is way up there. Everyone is super friendly and happy to be there. That was a pleasant thing to experience. I will be back if ever in the area again. read more

Disappointing experience. We typically go to Norms locations in LA but we're visiting this area. The server seemed good & memorized everything instead of writing it down but I am not sure if it was her fault or the kitchen but the food came out wrong after taking a very long time to make. She never apologized or asked if we needed anything when she finally brought the correct meal out. She never ever once came back to check on us and simply laid down the check at the end. Nope. Would never recommend this location especially since the food seemed like much poorer quality than the other locations. Bad experience. read more
