Really disappointed with our experience at Norma's. Before we could even sit down, we all noticed a very strong fowl odor that never went away while we were there. While waiting a long time for our pizza, my son started reading past reviews and we started to get nervous. Like other reviews stated, the pizza tastes like frozen pizza, but not good frozen pizza. A glimpse into the kitchen made appear as though they use mostly canned sauces and ingredients. After, a disappointing dinner, it was very hard to shell out $70 bucks for 5 people for pizza and drinks only, no apps. The only bright side was that the owner was very nice and attentive, but I'm sorry...that's not enough for us to go back.....too many better pizza restaurants around. read more

This was probably the most terrible pizza experience I've ever had. I was expecting the 4 star place that showed on Yelp. What I got was at best the 2 stars I rated it. Let's start when you walk in. Can you say dungeon? Well over 1/2 of the lights were out. That combined with the dark walls and floors made for a very depressing lunch. We almost turned around and left then but thought we should at least give it a try. There was only 1 waitress for the total of 5 tables that were seated. That should have been our second tip. Lots of space with only a few patrons. She was at least nice, friendly and attentive. We ordered a kids pasta with butter and garlic for our 1 year old. This thing came out with at least a teaspoon of finely minced garlic on top! Even after mixing it with the pasta it was so overwhelming I was getting nauseated. Also ordered a personal cheese pizza for the 3 year old. Did not see any issues with this and she ate half of it. Our pizza was a whole other story. We ordered the BBQ pizza with a white base instead of marinara. Our waitress talked us into adding pineapple to it which we normally like on our pizza anyway. So it was BBQ brisket, pineapple, mozzarella and white sauce. It comes out and all you can see are these huge chunks of pineapple on the top. These things were big I tell ya! Not the little tidbits you would have expected. These were about knuckle size chunks! Definitely did not belong anywhere near a pizza! Ok, ok, so maybe I should still taste it and give it a fair shake. So I cute the gargantuan chunk in half and add it to my piece that I cut. Uh, no. It was not tasty at all. First of all you had to get past the mouth burning volcano of cheese (which is to be expected at any pizza place) but after you made it past that you realize that the actual meat (not really BBQ at all) is just barely lukewarm. Hmmmm, how is this even possible? The white sauce was basically nonexistent so I can't really elaborate on that. The BBQ was so bland and tasteless. Really, the only flavor there was was from the pineapple which tasted like the can it came in. If you are considering stopping here for pizza, do yourself a favor and keep driving. We wasted almost $50 on a terrible meal that I could have made at home. I hope they get things right in the future. read more

Pizza was on point. We got the Shack Attack. All of the toppings were clearly individual creations. The spinach was so good. The artichokes were large and the balance of all the yummy veggies to meat was just right. Love the crunchy crust for a nice finish. Italian salad was a meal in itself. We found the prices to be excellent. Two drinks, large salad, and enough pizza to bring home leftovers for $48. That is a deal. Thank you to the staff for being so welcoming. We appreciate you!! I was pleasantly surprised by how good the roast beef poboy was! I am a big fan of roast beef poboys and this one is in my top 10 for sure. We order the food for pickup because of COVID-19, and I didn't specify or order any fries. I would recommend ordering fries because it comes with a bag of Fritos, which don't go very well with the roast beef poboy. Other members of my family had a salad, spaghetti, and shrimp scampi, and all agreed the food tasted good. read more

Overpriced pizza, way overpriced. Me and my father ate here one day. We got a all meats pizza, garlic knots and two drinks. With tip was $50 dollars. The pizza wasn't disappointing but it was surely way to high. I have been back a few times with friends but the price is still up there. 2 people eating one pizza and 2 drinks was $30 bucks. Just ate the very best roast beef Poboy I have ever tried!!! The roast beef and gravy are homemade (not one of the big delivery companies) and seasoned to perfection!! I've never lived in a small town but I hear with small towns comes great community. Saturday night at Norma's proves that point with live music, people coming out of the kitchen to give giant hugs and greetings to patrons, and friendly welcoming service that will make a curmudgeon smile. I didn't have high hopes for the pizza - it's described as "new york pizza with a california twist" but what I saw was super thin crust (which I love) but piled with heavy toppings (if I can't pick it up one-handed without losing something I'm skeptical). Maybe it's because the take-out pizza cooled off enough by the time we got back to our place, but every slice held its form and delivered nothing but tasty cheese, toothsome toppings, and flavorful dough (imagine that! A dough that doesn't taste or feel like cardboard!). We were looking for good Pizza instead of the usual takeout or delivery. So we opted for Norma's pizza. It was delicious and prepared upon ordering. The waiter was nice, she was the young lady who had a new baby. The restaurant was clean. It as really hot though. I've thought about the pizza several times after our visit but I'm in my third trimester of pregnancy and it's just too hot to sit through and be tormented in this hot Louisiana weather. A sweet lady we meet there was very talkative during our visit. We enjoyed here because we love meeting new people and talking as well. About 2/3 of our visit, we had talked to her so much and realized she was Norma. What a sweet sweet soul. I may order pizza and just pick it up, if that's an option, if I get the cravings again. A classic Italian-American dive restaurant that appears to be so unassuming. The waitstaff learns who you are and always greets you with a smile. On top of that, the food is delicious. The servings are very generous, and nothing beats a Norma's Calzone. I'm not from Covington, but everytime I'm in town visiting my boyfriend's family, Norma's is the first place we go to catch up.
