My wife and I have been on the hunt for a true wood-fired pizza spot ever since we moved here from Los Angeles two years ago, and today we finally found one that lives up to the hype. We came across Nola Mia on social media and decided to check it out. We got there shortly after they opened and were seated right away, but within half an hour the place was completely full--which made total sense by the end of our meal. The restaurant itself is charming and thoughtfully designed. There's a cozy dining area as you walk in, and off to the side you can see the wood-fired oven along with a spacious bar, which really adds to the atmosphere. We were welcomed by Liz, who was incredibly friendly and made us feel right at home. Our server, Brock, was just as great--attentive, personable, and happy to share some history about the building and its past. We kept things simple and ordered the hummus to-go (though we had to sneak a few bites--it was excellent), along with a supreme pizza and a margherita. Both pizzas were outstanding. The crust was light, flavorful, and cooked perfectly, exactly what we'd been missing. Before we left, we had the chance to meet the owner and chef, Matias, who was warm and genuinely appreciative. As we were getting ready to go, we were treated to a little surprise--a butterscotch pudding with toffee crumbles--which was the perfect sweet finish. I lived in Connecticut for 30 years and worked in New Haven for 22. New Haven CT has the best pizza in the world. I am a pizza snob and thought the south needed to step up their game. Well, I gotta say Nola Mia is the best pizza, came in blazing and knocks it outta the park every time, It's not Wooster Street, but dang y'all make some great pizza! Highly Recommend. We were really excited for our return trip to Nola Mia. We tried the whipped ricotta app last visit and it was fantastic, so we got it again. Just as good as the first time. We got the Pecan Berry Salad, the Korean BBQ pizza and kids Chicken Tenders. You can see them in the pictures, they were all pretty good. Our server did a great job, very chill guy, didn't let any hiccups deter his service. The place was busy, almost every table full for lunch. It seems to be a good local spot to watch a football game or enjoy a meal with the family. We will definitely return next time we come back to Hammond. read more

We visited here for the first time last week since their opening. Restaurant facility: Building is completely re-done. It is awesome - Outside and inside. Beautiful mural on the outside west wall and inside main dining area. The layout of the restaurant is fine. Bathrooms are clean. I saw staff actively cleaning tables and floors in between customers, as should be done. At the fire oven was the owner, clearly taking the perfection of the product under his own responsibility. Food: We had the hummus. It is the best hummus I have ever had. Nothing further to add. Pizza - main reason to come and flagship item - Pizza pies are great, and it's real oven fired pizza - you can tell. My only critique is that I do wish they offered different sizes on main menu; however, I'm sure this is for a purpose which I can assume would be to be consistent with product perfection. Pepperoni, Meats, and Chicken with jalapeño pies were ours. All were great and tasty with fresh ingredients. If I am being a bit too specific, I would like to see more chicken on that particular pie; but, it's not an issue to affect stars here. Service: Table service was fine. It was a very busy night, but we were satisfied with service and servers. We even got the table in the front by the window which was nice. Restaurant atmosphere was welcoming; we kept looking around at all the details. They did it right, took time to get everything in place, and opened on the right pace. We are glad to see them open and crushing it! We will surely return. My only problem is I wanted more pizza after having too much pizza! read more

The staff were so sweet and the place was PACKED!! This was the first thing on TikTok on my fyp that was actually close to me!! The paintings were beautiful and the food was amazing!! Even thought it was packed we had only like a 2 minute wait I wish I knew the hostess's name she was blonde with a knit sweater so was so sweet! The food was phenomenal the drink was strong and I love that you can get dips for your pizza. I was alittle disappointed on TikTok the girl got half the pizza what her boyfriend wanted the meat lovers and half what she wanted the spinach and artichoke and they told me we couldn't do that but we just got what he wanted and the dips I wanted which was still great!! 10/10 we will definitely go again and tell our friends!! read more

Came into town to visit family and we all chose to come here. I had had their pizza years ago when they were in the food truck in front of Gabriel's. So nice to see them open up an actual restaurant. The lay out of the place is set up nice; love the murals, has adequate seating, bar and you can see the kitchen. The hostess station is a tad chaotic; not sure how long they've been open; but communication could be better with the hostesses. We waited about 20 min for a table on a Friday night; which wasn't terrible. Our waiter was great; we ordered a few appetizers and pizzas; and overall everything was quite delicious. The boudin balls we're good I'd say a 4/5. The whipped ricotta was delicious! 5/5 for that one. The cheese bread was good, no complaints from the kids. The Hawaiian pizza was good but was lacking something. The boudin pizza was amazing 5/5! I really enjoyed the flavor combinations with that one. My least favorite was the steak and lobster (monthly special) I just personally did not like the taste of that one. Nice to see new restaurants in town when we come back to visit. read more

I've been here several times and usually had a good experience. This time we sat at the bar in a Wednesday and frankly the make bartender is average at best. We sit to order food and he brings no utensils. Every time our drinks are empty he passes by oblivious. Not great. The pizza was good. Next time I will sit at a table where we can get decent service. Nice guy not a great bartender. Treat everyone the same and pay attention when people are sitting for five minutes with an empty drink. read more

We go to Nola Mia at least once a week and are their menu up and down. Absolutely flawless! the crispy pasta balls in Vodka sauce are a must! Super tasty and a shareable starter. Don't miss the tomato soup either - delicious!!!!!! The restaurant itself is very inviting, their flatware and plates of great quality. I love that! Even though they're very busy, the food comes quickly and the staff is awesome. the owner is easily approachable and a true icon. Went here for lunch today. Massive makeover from the previous restaurant. It is a beautiful open space that is very welcoming. Everything ordered was very fresh! This is such a wonderful change since most restaurants clearly use frozen baged food loaded with preservatives. Pizza crust was perfect! Service was outstanding!! Just tried Nola Mia for the first time and it was AMAZING. Our server Gabby was so friendly and made such great suggestions. We had the boudin appetizer which I cannot say enough great things about- I will be craving these daily. The pizza was phenomenal- the crust was thin but with a little chewiness, and I LOVED the pizza sauce. You can tell all of the ingredients are fresh and hand cut. We can't wait to come back. But we had 5 beers between us and I had to ask for four of them. The average customer is here for an hour. That's about a 15. Or 20. Dollar tip But they do everything but ask can I help you.
