So...I wanted to start by saying the service was good. Our waitress was very nice and fast in almost every aspect. The atmosphere is nice for anyone in their prime of the loud party bar scene but if your looking for a quiet place this is not your spot. That's where this review ends the pleasantries. We got our shrimp (appetizer) moments before our meal. So while finishing our shrimp my crab cake was getting cold. No loss there, I'm not convinced there is any way possible to make a crab cake any worse than this one. Between the chili, Mac and cheese, fries, and shrimp. Beyond bland is the best description I have. If this restaurant could replace its food with flavorful, delicious it would be worth the price paid. This is my second experience here. My daughter ordered Goldmine Wings for us with fries, celery & carrot sticks The wings were plump and breaded and cooked perfectly and tasted great dipped in the chunky blu cheese dressing. We went here Saturday evening for a bite to eat and an adult beverage to celebrate the completion of our holiday shopping. The Pub, hands down, has the... best.. wings in town. The bartenders, however, leave much to be desired. We had two drinks with dinner and Gina, the sole bartender, when we arrived, was spot on. Attentive to both customers seated at the bar and wait staff. Then came the shift change, welcoming bartenders, James and Emily. Emily, who is usually very friendly and attentive, appeared more interested in conversations with friends, while we waited over 10 mins for another drink. A gentleman from the dining room walked up to the bar and asked if drink service was better at the bar. To which we replied no. 15 minutes later, we finally had our drinks freshened up and in walks a woman, noticeably intoxicated. She sits at the bar next to me and announces in a loud voice, that she was just asked to leave applebees and has brought her party to the Pub. The next think we know James (bartender) literally tosses a water in front of me and assumes his usual rude, egotistical posture. We were not drunk, he didn't like our conversation. When asked why he wouldn't serve us, he said we were to loud for his dinner shift. We were not loud, he could hear us because we were sitting at the bar. He deemed it acceptable to use the word f**k loudly, at the dinning room entrance. But took exception to our conversation and penalized us for it. We believe this was personal. We will take our patronage elswhere, we recommend you do the same. read more

Pull into the parking lot and it looks like a strip club from the outside. I walk inside and it was no where near what I expected. This place was absolutely beautiful on the inside. I waited on the door a second like, "did I come in through the right door?". I was expecting a kind of "dive" bar atmosphere. Anyway! We came here for wing night! Delicious wings! So far the best wings I've had in Chambersburg. They can't compete with Dawg House in Wayneboro though. I still have to try the wing night at Roy Pitz so that's in the works...BUT... We used to frequent the Norland publicly twice a week. Took a hiatus and apparently came back to a place we don't want to return to. Tables were messy. Floors could have been swept as they had food all over them. Waitress took 10 minutes to even acknowledge us and wipe the table down. Floor had pieces of food all over. Pizza flavor was good but dough was not cooked on the bottom the whole way. Brisket nachos were terrible we didn't even eat them but yet paid $16 for them. read more

We came here about 7pm on black Friday. My wife fell in love with their gold mine wings a few years ago, so this is a traditional stop when in the area. They also have great drink specials throughout the week. They have numerous TV's throughout for watching sports. It was pretty busy but we saw a few tables open. We picked one of the tables in the bar area which needed wiped clean. They quickly took care of that, brought us menus and took our drink order. We placed our food order which arrived a short time later. As in past experiences the food looked good and tasted great. This place is nothing fancy. But, they have good food, good service, and good specials. We even got 10 gold mine boneless wings to go. read more

There are quite a few "pros" to this place and very few "cons". If you're a student, faculty member, or employee at the nearby Wilson College, it's conveniently close and probably going to become one of your main haunts in the town of Chambersburg. It's also on a residential street on the way to one of Chambersburg's main commercial districts, making it either a great neighborhood bar or a stop-along-the-way between different points in town. It's also one of the few bars in town that there's a high chance - not a guarantee but a very high chance - will be open on holidays. This was a great place to spend the Fourth of July and New Year's Eve! Also highly recommended if you live in or are visiting Chambersburg and need somewhere to celebrate your birthday in town. Jukebox is nearly always on and has a surprisingly diverse selection, including quite a few tunes by quite a few bands and artists it's doubtful get a lot of play in Chambersburg. There's both a family-friendly dining area and a bar area. The bar food ranges between the typical (pizza, wings, etc.) and the more creative (Asian-style wraps and salads, and at one point a pizza burger was on the menu!); the bar area tends a little on the divey side, so the cocktails served up tend to be on the simple side. Recommended food/drink combo: Dark and Stormy, Buffalo wings. read more

A local told me that the "goldmine" wings were worth the trip and she was right. They are the bizness. Very meaty, good spicy wing sauce, and not swimming in it. Very good. I'm only bummed that my trip here was lunch time on a work day so beer wasn't an option. Cheeseburger with the wings (i only ordered five) was nothing special. Shared the wings with others and kids, they were disappointed. The quality of the sauce for both was watery. The Gold mine sauce was not what it use to be. I've visited Norland Pub a few times in the past couple years. The food has always been good. But this visit I ordered the small soft pretzel braid appetizer with the Flat Tire beer cheese. Someone recommended this place to us about a year ago and we finally made it! We really liked it! The staff was really nice and the place was pretty busy on a Saturday mid-afternoon. We shared an order of buffalo chicken nachos, recommended by the bartender, and they were delicious! They had a TouchTunes jukebox that was loud enough to hear but not too loud to talk. okie dokie so so we were in a part of 14 with a reservation, a lot of us are from out of state and the few of us who are from this area raved about this place. we came for a party and a good time and got stuck with the most inexperienced server ever. Literally would bring one individual item at a time. our reservation was for 5:30 and we had only gotten three meals out to the table by 7pm. currently typing this out while still waiting on the majority of our meals. the server would bring one bottle of ketchup out then walk away and grab one drink. then walk away and grab straws. we had one member finish her meal a good 30 minutes before any other food was brought out. I have to say I'm thoroughly dis and disappointed in the service expect when having this large of a part is already paying a 20% gratuity automatically. if all you have is a new server then add another one to help them out or get an experienced server to take on a large party. let alone were the pretzels and beer were cold and microwaved and the cheese was nuclear. whole experience was a mess we were wasting time betting on which singular item the server would bring out next, which is sad bcuz a majority of the food was good. but we saw tables come and go with food all while waiting on ours. have to say I will definitely not recommend this bar to anyone coming for a larger party. very poorly handled. read more
