COVID-19 Takeout Review I called ahead to pickup an order at Nori and they told me they would take 10% off if I paid with cash upon pickup. They have created a barrier between the restaurant and the pickup area. I felt very safe picking up and paying for our food. Nori is close to my apartment so I opted for them. They have a little doggy door once you enter the restaurant where they keep the staff totally separated from the customers. I'll keep it short and sweet- Rolls were poorly made, we got the wrong rolls, they refused to believe they gave us the wrong rolls, they asked us to pay in cash after we placed an online DoorDash order and then overcharged us. When I called to I complain they told me I was wrong and then proceeded to text me about how I was wrong. I think anyone can tell the difference between a veggie roll and a spicy salmon roll. Good service and amazing food. We ordered tempura for appetizers and it was crunchy and so flaky. One of the best tempuras I've had in a while. They refused to refund the whole order and would only offer a refund the one roll because the rest of the order was "fine" - not that anyone wanted to eat anything else after seeing it. No apology was offered until we made a comment about feeling disrespected. Had a great time at Nori sushi. They have a beautiful and clean interior and are great for street/people watching with their large windows. The avocado salad was rather large for the price and was fresh. I've gotten 1/3 of the salad for the same price (and more!) at other local restaurants. Their sushi is sizable as well - 8 pieces served with your standard pickled ginger and wasabi. The staff is rather attentive and kind. Our server was very accommodating and came to check up on us and refill water often. And finally, they have 10% off if you pay in cash! I enlisted a little help with trying to find a sushi spot that would serve the right amount of ambiance and delicious cuisine. Nori Sushi delivered! I will only touch on the decor and music for a bit because time and attention is definitely needed for the food. The decor was simple yet modern and the music was a unique twist on newer songs. On to the food... For appetizers, we ordered the Shrimp Shumai, Fried Calamari, and the Rock Shrimp. These were excellent choices that were fried just right. Often times, I notice there is an excess of grease left on the food and they are not allowed to rest before being served. Nori Sushi has this just right. It was clear the dishes were prepared fresh and allowed to rest so the flavors weren't overwhelmed with the taste of grease. Further, they were flash fried and not allowed to swim for too long. It was my first time having Shrimp Shumai; I highly recommend it. Rolls: Our sushi selection included: Spicy Tuna Roll, Aloha Roll, Holy Crab, and the Spider Roll. The classic Spicy Tuna Roll was good. I was not wow'd or deterred. It was prepared as it should be. No frills. The Aloha Roll, as implied includes some Hawaiian themes (pineapples), was comprised of salmon and tuna. The Holy Crab was filled with crab (soft shell and spicy) wrapped in soy paper. The mango that complimented the roll was sweet yet light. It was probably my favorite roll of the night's selection. The Spider Roll was your classic soft shell crab roll but was prepared perfectly. The flavors were delicious and refreshing and the presentation was novel. I can't wait to return and try more of the rolls. I would definitely recommend a visit to Nori Sushi or ordering take out, which seemed to be a big hit during our visit. Happy eating! read more

Friendly service, nice ambiance (especially once the music came on), and good sushi and sashimi! We stopped in on a Thursday evening and decided to dine in. We were the only table at that time and there was no music playing so at first the atmosphere felt a little strange; however, while we ordered and then ate, the dining room filled up, the music came on, and at least a handful of individuals came through for take out. The seaweed salad appetizer was plentiful. The pork gyoza was good--could have spent a little more time in the pan. The soup was what I expected, but the rolls weren't great. The spicy roll wasn't spicy at all and the second roll contained some really mushy eel that was a really unpleasant experience to eat. I order eel all the time from other sushi restaurants and have never had that happen to me before. Nothing made me ill, so that's good! My husband and I had a really nice dinner at Nori this week. We arrived early on a Wednesday evening because we had tickets to a show nearby. There were very few tables occupied during our time there from around 5:30-6:45. I brought a bottle of white wine and we received an ice bucket upon arrival. Since I arrived first, I ordered some edamame to take the edge off. They were simply salted, nothing fancy. Once my husband arrived, we ordered the tuna tartare to start. It was again on the simple side, just diced tuna and avocado with some tobiko. Fresh and light, a good start to the meal. Next, we shared three special rolls: spicy girl (spicy salmon, spicy yellowtail, spicy tuna and crispy shallots), flaming hamachi (spicy crunchy yellowtail, tuna, jalapeño, scallion and sriracha), and blue ocean (spicy crunchy shrimp and cucumber, topped with smoked and fresh salmon, avocado and lime juice). My favorite roll was the flaming hamachi, because I loved the crunchiness of the jalapeño, followed by the spicy girl. I'm not big on smoked salmon so the blue ocean was my least favorite, but my husband enjoyed it. Prices were reasonable and there are some great lunch specials I'd like to try. Looking for a new sushi takeout joint we found the newer Nori. We ordered online via Eat24 which gives you the option for delivery or takeout. We chose takeout and unfortunately our order was not ready on time. About twenty minutes later in fact. It was New Years Eve and hubs said the beautiful restaurant was absolutely packed so won't hold it against them too much. The ordering process was easy as usual, however we noticed afterwards that they charged us .50 per roll to upgrade to brown rice which we did not ask for. Definitely watch out for that if you're ordering online! The menu is rather large! There's an entire sushi menu which includes apps, sushi entrees, sashimi, vegetarian options, impressive chef specialty rolls, raw and cooked rolls available in either cut and hand rolls. I totally appreciate this as sometimes I like to eat a tad lighter, and the hand rolls are my go-to when I do. The regular menu offers apps, soups, teriyaki, tempura, noodle, domburi and a nice selection of desserts. (I'm excited to dine again simply for the fact that everyone in our fam with a bit of a different craving can certainly find something to eat here with their plethora of offerings) We ordered some veggie rolls, edamame, rock shrimp which came deconstructed (I'm assuming for and anti soggy/traveling purposes) and the "Fat Boy" which contains deep fried crabmeat, shrimp, cream cheese, avocado tomago and creamy sweet chili. We all really enjoyed all of the food. Everything was fresh and tasty! The shrimp were decent sized and full pieces...very different than the chopped rock shrimp we've seen before. The veggies were crisp and light and edamame is fine, but could use a bit more salt. The chef roll was nice and plump. It was said to be balanced with the crunch of the fried seafood and the cream of the cheese, with just a hint of sweetness. With the extra charge in the rolls and the wait, I have to lower my rating just a hair, but would absolutely like to try dining in, especially for their lunch specials I hear so much about. The place looks beautiful and I know the kiddos would get a kick out of the glowing lights they place in the platters. Fun! Don't forget your 10% off with Yelp check in! Would recommend! I mean, who doesn't love fresh sushi at good prices? I had been wanting to check out this place ever since I saw an ad for it on Yelp, and I'm so glad I took my friend here. The interior is spacious, clean, and modern, and they have a great lunch menu. We chose two sets off the weekday lunch menu to share between us: a sushi + sashimi lunch platter for ~$15 and 3 sushi rolls for ~$11, which also included a soup or salad for both of us. Everything was delicious, and happily filling! Service was very accommodating and attentive overall, with free hot green tea as well. Also, I found out later, but 10% off dine in if you check in via Yelp. Being that Nori Sushi is relatively new to the area, I'm happy to say I've already stopped in for lunch twice, and both times were deserving of a five star review. The establishment is clean and modern, the sushi is fresh, and the staff is friendly. On my first visit, I decided to go with my usual sushi lunch order: two rolls, which come with either miso soup or green salad. I chose the green salad which was great. The lettuce was so crisp and they went quite heavy with the ginger dressing - which I totally loved! The rolls I chose were the spicy salmon (raw) and spicy crabmeat (cooked). Both were fantastic, although I definitely took more of a liking to the raw. The salmon was melt in your mouth good! During my second visit, I decided to up my game and went with a three roll lunch special instead. I got the salad again, as well as the same two rolls as before. For my third roll, I chose the spicy tuna. Again, delicious but I'm still partial to the salmon! The lunch special prices cannot be beat. Just $7.95 for two rolls, and $10.95 for three rolls. The special runs from 11 am to 3 pm. One thing I took note of right away: I always ask for brown rice for my sushi rolls, which is of an additional cost. I'm used to paying $1 extra per roll for this request, but Nori Sushi only charges an additional 50 cents per roll! YES! The team is wonderful. They are kind, patient, and attentive. I was especially happy with Deanna who was my server during my first visit. She was so very friendly and personable. :) I absolutely plan to go here again to take advantage of their lunch special. They have some really awesome specials currently... $15 for three rolls for dinner (and less than that for lunch specials) which includes choices from an assortment of your basic rolls. They're also offering 10% off the entire menu and they gave us a loyalty card at the end. We split three of the special and one speciality roll (SO many options!) I can't remember the name but i believe it had eel and crab. The basic rolls (Philly, salmon, shrimp) tasted good but the speciality one, while a good mixture of flavors, was also slightly "fishy." For those curious, the green salad is lettuce garnished with a cucumber and grape tomato - simple, but came with the most yummy zesty ginger dressing. The specialty roll was really good and the ratio of everything was perfect. Highly recommend this one! We decided on the Alaskan, Spicy White Tuna, and Baby Lobster for the three roll special. For $15 including the side salad, it was a good deal although I feel like the portion size per roll was a biiiit smaller than some other neighborhood spots. I enjoyed the rolls, but in a "I'm very hungry I am chowing down" than a "Wow this is really good sushi" way. They also threw in a free crunchy salad for us, but we threw it out (the crunchy bits were stale but hey it was free). We have always been pleased by the quality and freshness. One quibble - the spicy salmon rolls feature chopped up bits of fish rather than whole pieces, but they're so delicious we get them anyway.
