Visiting Indianapolis for work and my MAC fluidline ran dry. So decided to hit up the local Nordstrom to pick up a new pod. Unfortunately for me, I picked the wrong day to bother the people that were working there to look for an item I was intending on purchasing. Indicator #1: NO one was at the MAC counter. That in and of itself should have been a clear indicator. Indicator #2: Two other employees at a nearby counter were talking to another two employees from other neighboring kiosks. And I was most definitely the least of their priorities. Indicator #3: The two employees that were behind the counter were deep in conversation about matching the right shade of make up of some sort to even look up at me. You'd think after this many indicators I would've just walked away. But no. I'm just as stupid for sticking around. (Those damn Nordstrom points got me good!!) Mistake #4: Two other customers approached the two employees behind the counter and were immediately assisted. I'm not sure if it's because I was in the MAC concession, because of my ethnicity, or because I hadn't walked up to their counter. Meanwhile other employees would pass by unbothered by my presence. Finally, after a good 10-15 minute wait, one of the employees behind the neighboring counter adamantly said, "look, I don't work for this vendor, but I'll try my best to help you out." I wasn't sure if I should be appreciative or insulted for soliciting business. But I stayed. At the end of the day, I did need that fluidline. And sacrificing a kilometer of beauty was not an option. After a good 5 minutes of searching, the woman was able to find my product. But was unable to ring me up. So I had to wait in another line for another 8 minutes just to pay. All-in-all the 30 minutes wasted to buy $20 worth of makeup was not justifiable. Especially after the unwelcome treatment and lack of urgency. As a visitor, I would say this is one location Nordstrom fails at most, out of all the Nordstrom's I've visited across the nation. It's amazing this place is even in business with that type of customer service. Note to self: come prepared so I don't have to deal with this Nordstrom location again! read more

The wife and I took my mom out shopping for a new coat. Mom's closet was full of coats that were in style back in the 60s and 70s...and not in a cool, retro classic way. Since the Northside is the place with a Nordstrom, we made our way there on a Friday afternoon. While we were looking around, we were soon approached by a salesperson that was exceedingly patient and helpful. With her assistance, we found a nice, dressy, fashionable coat for my mom that she liked, looked good on her, and fortunately for my wallet, was on sale. It did require some alterations (unfortunately not free) since she's a very petite person, but they were willing to ship her coat to her for free when it was done (score!). Indianapolis definitely isn't a shopping mecca. Thankfully, there's still one Nordstrom in town at Keystone at the Crossing. read more

Nordstrom is a nice store for everything else except boys shoes (size 4 and up). Their selection is like 3-4 type of shoes and that's it. Rest is for infants or todlers or girls. I asked a sales woman to bring me a particular sandal. She brought 4 boxes with totally different styles telling me the one I wanted they did not have in size 4 (Youth). Why bother bringing me something I wasn't interested in? read more

Well folks I am a long time Nordie fan going way far back. Today I went into the shoe department to pick up a pair of sandals. I picked a pair out and they happen to be in the $50 range. It took 5 minutes to be greeted and the sales staff was not busy. Finally I was greeted gave my shoe size range. He never came back nor did any of the sales staff ask if I needed assistance. I sat for 15 minutes. They dropped the ball. I expect this at the half yearly sale. Nordstrom get your act together you will start losing my business. This is rare for me to leave a negative. read more

I'm giving them 4 stars because their service is awesome. They have salesperson helping you get the right fit and the right color, giving you their opinions on the fit and color. This is unlike what I was treated at other department stores such as Macy's and JC Penny. I went in there for a couple of dress pants. I basically don't have to leave the fitting area and have clothes handed to me to try on. They also have tailor on staff to do basic alterations for free. They have dress shoes that you can borrow when you try on their dress pants or suits. So you can basically come in with t shirts and shorts. Do note that there selection is pretty small though. I couldn't find a pair of slim fitted bonobos pants at 33 30. read more

I stopped in to the new Nordstrom after dinner one night to see what all the fuss was about. I had been a fan of the downtown store for a long time....admittedly mainly a fan of its cosmetics department because of the huge selection. The Fashion Mall store is very nice and sleek, but I wasn't bowled over - I didn't think the service held up to the legend that Nordstrom is known for and prides itself on. Case in point: we walked past at least three cosmetics counters "sans customers" before anybody greeted us. The woman who finally did was very pleasant and actually listened to my concerns and then spent a great deal of time showing me some products at the Kiehl's counter. Even though she wasn't right on target with my needs, her enthusiasm and professionalism made up for her missing the target initially. I would definitely return to see her again. Kudos: to the woman who helped me with the Kiehl's for all the samples she provided, I found a product in the batch that has totally won me over to the line - and it wasn't what I was originally looking for! Shame: to the woman who interrupted her associate whilst we were inquiring about whether or not this location would carry Annick Goutal fragrances in the future like the downtown location used to (or still does???) - really! you couldn't wait for her to finish with us??? Oh well, neither of these two had even heard of Annick Goutal :-( read more

So maybe the Fashion Mall was a bit disappointing (I expected a more glamorous mall) but my Nordies was as expected. Excellent, quick service (though a bit slower in shoes, but they were swamped). Reasonable prices when considering brands & quality. Over the top cleanliness. I took my sister here to buy her Christmas present and I was glad that the store met my expectations. If you like to buy higher end clothing & accessories, Nordstrom tends to be cost competitive with the rest of the bunch and I've never found one that didn't have the best service in the industry. read more

I love Nordstrom! I think it really is as good as a retail shopping experience can be. Every time I'm in, the people are really warm and cordial. They're happy to assist you when needed, or get out of your way when not. A perhaps little-known fact: Nordstrom will price match. Yep, you heard me. Find the same item at a lower price, they'll match it. And, if they don't have an item in the store, they'll happily ship it to you for free. Also, speaking of online and shipping, it's free. BOTH WAYS. Apparently, Zappos' philosophy is catching on. Anyways, I've found myself at several departments at this particular store (men's shoes, clothing, watches) -- and everyone's been really helpful and friendly. read more

I had a great experience at this particular Nordstrom and just thought I'd share. I went in here totally randomly while I was traveling for business, I did need a new suit since my last one was pretty much on the way out. I ended up browsing and was helped out by Carlotta H. - who basically was the most patient, understanding and low-pressure person around. Having not shopped for a men's suit in some time, Caroltta took the time and effort to explain everything - all without not making me look like and idiot, which trust me, was not an easy feat. In the end, I got a great recommendation and suit that I really love. To further complicate matters, I had initially planned to stay in the area so that alterations could be done - however my work at the last minute changed my travel plans. Carlotta shipped my final tailored suit home for me. Thanks again, if I'm ever in the area again I'd gladly visit again. read more

Oh, hey Nordstrom. Guys, I have a problem. I really love Nordstrom. However my wallet does not. In all honesty, I'm pretty much just glad I live within fairly short driving distance of the only Nordstrom in the State of Indiana. This Nordstrom is a little different than the ones I'm used to on the West Coast. A little smaller, but still all around a nice store. Plus, one of my main loves about Nordstrom is their Zella athletic line. Fabulous leggings that are durable, comfortable and look great. If I had more money and lived closer, the amount of these leggings I would own would be obscene. As per usual for most any Nordstrom I have been to, the shoe department has an excellent selection, workwear as well. Plus, I can go grab a coffee at the e-bar if I really feel so obliged as well. read more

The customer service here SUCKS!!!!! As a former Nordstrom employee I know what the Nordstrom standard should be. If you work on commission then customer service should be the upmost importance to you and your paycheck. I'm only giving one star because I "have" to give something otherwise this would be a negative 6 stars. I asked the associate about white tights she pointed in the direction of where they should be and that was it never offered to call another store or look online...I get the feeling that she thinks I can't afford to purchase anything and I'm a waste of time, but sweetie this is a REAL Louis Vuitton I'm pretty sure I can scrape up $16 for a pair of tights. I hate this Nordstrom so much. I just moved to Indianapolis two months ago and need a ton of new things, so I've been visiting Nordstrom at least once a week. I usually almost always get fantastic service at Nordstrom back home in WA, but this team at Keystone has got to be the rudest, most unprofessional group I've ever seen. It's not just one or two people who ignore me, don't offer help, etc. It's the majority of them, which is so unfortunate. I loved going to Nordstrom back home (or whenever I travel) and now I dread stepping foot in this location because I know that I'll receive more bad service than good. I've brought this up with the customer service desk at the store and was told that the manager would take care of it. That was last month and I've seen no improvements. This Nordstrom store brings shame to the company. So terrible. I truly hope the management will step up and fix this issue with the employees. read more

I went into The store last week to grab two of my best friends a nice bottle of perfume for their upcoming birthdays. First, I went over to the MAC counter because they have a perfume that I love, the MAC associate wasn't there, but an associate from another section was near, so I asked her for assistance so that I could purchase my item, she was very dry, nonchalant, and was basically helping me because of course what choice did she have? her customer service just wasn't there-no I'm not saying that just to complain, but I've worked in customer service since I was 19, there is just a certain way to conduct yourself. Next, I wandered over to the perfume section, I was looking at the Dior perfume online, but wanted to explore other items. I was looking back and forth for about 10 minutes, I know I looked completely lost, but yet, no one came to help, and there were other associates around I walked in a circle, went back to the perfume, an associate that was working with another associate finally told her co-worker to help me, the woman was very nice and helpful, and helped me choose a nice perfume for one of my friends gift and she took the time to gift wrap it for me and she gave me her business card. The next day I had to go back and exchange one of the perfumes because I wanted something different for my friend, and one of the young lady's I noticed working yesterday was there, she helped me immediately. I say all that to say my experience started off rough. The store should definitely train more in customer service and to be attentive to customers that you see walking around confused, even if they are helping other ppl, it's ok to let the next customer know that you see them and will help them once you're done with the current customer. Some ppl like myself are ready to come into the store and spend their hard earned money, I'm happy that my experience ended ok, but the beginning definitely through me for a loop. I'm going into the store tmrw to treat myself to a purse, hopefully my experience is great. read more

Very rude when comes to returns with out a receipt here!! I have been a customer for over 20 years and i have extensive credit with Nordstrom and trying to return a simple gift with tags over one year old I only received pennies for and the lady even mocked me and said it was only worth pennies! It felt insulting. This was the manager at the time who was called to do the return also. They are not the same store they were 20 years ago and this is reason their stock is so far down and they loose customers like myself and all my friends and family because we tell all our friends and so on....very sad for such an amazing store to go down hill. Having lived in Seattle for 20 years, I got real use to the custom service offered by Nordys. Moving on to Scottsdale, service was still pretty good. Now comes Indianapolis!!! I'm a Personal Assistant for a couple in Indianapolis. My job requires me to shop on their behalf, for their own needs, for their 4 homes and for gifts. It's my job to know find EXACTLY what they need as close to "now" as possible. I know good service and I appreciate the value of relationships with sales professionals who help me be a star. I've had two disappointing experiences at Nordstrom. We are talking ZERO on a ten scale. First, was mission for zip fly jeans. Couldn't find any at Saks (which I recommend), so bought 4 pair at $600. I explained to the sales person when I purchased that they were not for me, what I was looking for, etc, and if they weren't a good option for the gentleman I work for, that I would return them. She was helpful and I left with some good options. None of which, when tried on, fit well. No worries. I brought them back to return a few hours later. This is where "Nordstrom Legendary Service" falls flat on its face. So the same sales woman helps me. She tries to show me other options (trying to protect her commission by selling something else). I was kind and looked at her suggestions. Then I said, no, I think I'll just return these and maybe try another day. So we start walking back to the counter. On the way back she stops to talk to another customer-AND NEVER COMES BACK TO COMPLETE THE RETURN TRANSACTION. I stood at the counter until another associate realized she had abandoned me and completed the return. Unbelievably unprofessional. Next was shopping for a pair of shoes for myself. The only men's shoe associate was helping a customer. She had seen me browsing. I had browsed the whole department and was standing with a shoe in my hand, needing a size. She walked right by me to go to the stock room to get another size for the customer she was already helping. No "I'll be with you in a moment" or "Can I get a size for your while I wrap up with this other guest" or "I'm working with this guest, but someone in women's shoes can help". NOTHING. She just walked on by! I finally asked an associate in women's shoes who did help me. "Legendary" service for sure, because it is the worst! read more

It's all about the bras. Yeah, I'm totally going there so men, unless you are very large breasted, you can stop reading right now. They have the best customer service in the intimate section than any other department store. I went to Macy's. I went to Von Maur. All pale in comparison to the help I received from the women at Nordstrom. First off, they know their stuff. They measure you correctly and encourage you to try on everything. Then after you have it on, they will check to ensure everything is fitting just right and if it isn't, they will run back to their secret compartment of bras and find another that they think will fit better. Yeah, the bras are expensive for seriously, aren't your girls worth it! Go to Nordstroms. Go there every year and make sure you are wearing the right size because most don't and you will be happy you did. Go Nordstroms! read more

I went to Nordstrom today was told the only way I could purchase the Trish McEvoy items today was to open a Nordstrom credit card. If I did not open the credit card, I had to wait until next week to make my purchase. I was going to spend $400.00 today but not now. I experienced identity theft 3 years ago so I do not open additional credit cards. I cannot believe, in this day, any store would walk away from a $400.00 sale. My makeup artist was fantastic but the floor manager was unwilling to work with me. Sorry Nordstrom, I will not be back to spend my hard earned money. Off to Saks to purchase some of the items I wanted for my trip. read more

This was the worst customer experience I have ever been involved in. And it's not even over yet. Word of warning, do not buy dress clothes through Indochino at Nordstrom. It's tagged as being "custom made". The suit took 4 weeks to make and it came and not a single piece of it fit me well. I bought 3 shirts as well. All of them, the completely wrong size. Fine, so I go to get them altered last Wednesday and had to talk to 3 different people before someone knew what we could do. They said that I will be able to come get them this Friday (9 days) because I have a wedding event on Saturday so I say great and go on my way. I just (Thursday afternoon) received a call from whoever is doing the alterations asking if I could push my timeline because they got backed up. The rep on the phone attempted to make me feel bad for standing firm on their word for getting the clothing altered by Friday. Take your money elsewhere. This will no doubt be the last time I will ever shop at Nordstrom. read more

So. . . if you aren't a cardholder, and you don't have time, or do not want to sign up for a store credit card, you don't get to purchase anything during their sale?!!! Even at the regular price?!!! I am still reeling. Not only was this news delivered in a perfunctory and RUDE manner, I had to WAIT for the sales girl to decide to pay attention to the people in store vs those calling in over the phone. I was in retail management for over 15 years. I can't believe a national chain would support or promote a policy that flat-out turns paying customers (and those willing to pay full price) away. I understand having perks for card members. I even understand trying to leverage a giant sale to sign up new card holders. But I cannot understand a flat out "No, sorry, you can't buy this" at the register because I would rather pay full price than sign up for a credit card. Beyond disappointed. read more

I'm not to pleased with my shopping experience here. Nordstrom is pretty pricey, and when I'm looking at Vineyard Vines, or Patagonia I want a sales associate to come a greet me because I'm spending $300-$500 on items. I never get that service here. Do yourself a favor and go to Von Maur because they will be all over you, and when your spending that much money you do want some good service compared to none. I bought Christmas presents here today and the service is absolutely excellent. The man checking me out even put all of my bags together and held them for me while I continued shopping throughout the mall. The coffee bar around the corner has excellent coffee as well. I love the variety of clothes and shoes at this store. I feel its in a bad place in the mall and I wish I had known it was there soon. The man who held my bags also offered to take them out to my car. Excellent service! read more

A very nice store. They are always very helpful and have beautiful products. I don't return much, but they are very reasonable on returns. Terri in the designer department is fabulous. She can help you put together a very nice outfit. If you need alterations they do that very well in house. They even have a pretty good restaurant. I don't necessarily expect the store to have every possible item in stock. I do, however, expect that when they tell me an item is available, and charge me for it, and tell me it will be delivered in two weeks, that they will call me immediately if it turns out the item is not available. Payed for item on Dec 4th, they apparently cancelled order same day due to unavailability buy never told us. Called on Dec 20 to check on status of two-week delivery. "Oh, that order was cancelled on 4th. ". Unacceptable. read more

As you would expect, it's a pricey store. But it's also a store with quality products that gives you the extra attention you would expect. I found the people in the men's suiting very helpful, even though I'm not your standard Nordstrom's high roller. They were able to listen to what I was looking for, size me up for dimensions (just by looking at me!) and put me in a very nice suit in a matter of minutes. I felt that I received detailed, honest, and informed feedback about how the suit looked and what alterations would make it even better. read more

So I was here to get my mom a Christmas gift, (boots) I went over to women's shoes department, not that no employees were found on the floor to help out their customers, especially that it was the holidays season and it was crowded , they were having lunch in the backroom and the smell was horrible, I guess they had ordered pizza and it smelled gross all over the place, that's very unprofessional, employees were very loud inside laughing and eating but nobody cared about customers, there was a line of customers waiting for help and just one employee who looked confused and had no idea what he was doing ( guess he was new) and ONE cashier that was handling returns, hopefully the manager is taking these reviews seriously!! read more

I recently visited the new Nordstrom with a friend the Saturday after it opened at Keystone Mall. I was impressed by the sales staf f everywhere in the store. All were friendly, helpful and just plain fun. In wondered if this was due to opening weekend, so, I went back three weeks later and found it to be the same. Every department I went to was great! Nordstrom is my new favorite store in town! Cannot stand Saks or Cache at Keystone Mall. Their salespeople are snobs. read more

I am grateful to Nordstrom. I ordered a raincoat and returned it without opening it. (I realized it was completely wrong for my purposes once I got home and thought about it. My bad.) When the coat was delivered, I immediately took the unopened package to UPS to return it. Naturally, I lost the UPS receipt. With just one phone call Nordstrom credited the cost of the raincoat back to my credit card. I call that service above and beyond the call of duty. read more

I went shopping the Tuesday before Christmas at our Nordstrom store at Keystone at the Crossing. I needed to purchase a Tom Ford (TF) fragrance. I saw the TF area and asked the salesperson to assist me. Casey Cooper took the time to listen to my request and walked with me to the fragrance area. I was trying to shop quickly and forgot the fragrances were located on "the wall" in the fragrance area. This was not an issue for Casey. We returned to the TF area where he gave me TF wrapping paper, tissue paper, ribbon and even found a large box so that I could "disguise" my gift. I was in Nordstrom and out very quickly due to Casey's assistance on a busy "just before Christmas" Tuesday. L.S. Ayres (downtown) was always classy and big on customer service. I felt like I was back in the "good old days" when we had human interaction from someone who actually enjoyed their job which was to assist you, when I shopped at Nordstrom. This is a review for the beauty counter only. I went in on a Sunday, they were not really busy. I have been in the beauty industry specifically the makeup industry for over 8 years. I am always on the lookout for new products. When new products come out on the market I usually do my own research before going into a store to play with them. This trip I was looking for a full to medium coverage foundation for myself. I have always been using Estee Lauder but wanted to try something different. I asked one sales women for a recommendation and she promptly directed me to MAC. I have been using MAC for years and do not like their foundation for every day wear, I told her this. She seemed annoyed and handed me over to another sales women who was busy with another customer, while she just stood there. I went to the Chanel counter to do my own research on the foundations, I liked one of them and asked the lady behind the counter to color match me. The first sales women came running to the counter and said "No she doesn't want this she wants a full coverage" This was really rude, is it not their job to make the customer satisfied with a foundation they are wanting to try? They acted as if I knew NOTHING about makeup. These ladies are just experienced in sales and really have no makeup or beauty industry background. I felt really unwelcome, I just headed over to Sephora and they took care of me. read more
